Quiz: Store the best percentage when having infinite attempts

Dear all,
Description:
In my project there are six question slides, including the result slide at the end. Users must reach 80% correct answers, but have infinite attempts to reach this percentage.
On the Result slide, Retake button is enabled, while Review button is disabled.
Is users once reach the 80%, they still can return to the quiz.
Challenge:
If users revisit the quiz again after they have reached the required minimum percentage of 80%, the quiz result is overwritten, e.g. their score is set back to 0% if they skip all quiz questions.
Question:
Is there a way to display the best quiz percentage out of several attempts?
Any advanced action solution?
Kind regards,
NQ

No, that is by design! Once the user passed the quiz, attempts are considered finished. Are you using a LMS? With LMS-functionality, best score can be kept, but user will have to restart the project.
There is no way to change quizzing system variables, they are read-only. With the default question slides you don't have much control at all.

No, it will hurt your battery, but it is not recommended by Apple. Additionally, since you have a model with a removable battery, you should calibrate the battery once a month if you leave it plugged in at all times.

  • What are the best specs when building a PC for video & where to buy in US?

Our current video machine has died - a problem we have constantly battled over the years with our video machines, primarily from the heat generated in the system. These have been spacious, well spec'd out desktops, so while I'm budget concious I thought I'd reach out for advice before going ahead. The biggest problems occur when  rendering video, esp. larger files.
Also, I'm visiting the US for a few weeks, so that opens up some new possibilities (it's common to see much better pricing for systems in Canada than the US.)
    So my questions are two-fold.
    1) What would you recommend for buying a PC video machine today, while still on a budget? I would normally look for a higher end i7 processor, 16 Gb DDR3 ram, dedicated video card, ASUS motherboard with raid 0/5 and a couple of decent sized harddrives (not striped... had terrible experiences with my striped drives in the past). In particular, what would you recommend on the video card front for the best value/performance while not creating issues with heat (this is where I've had problems with a number of machines in the past)? In terms of harddrive management, are there some better options now for handling real time editing and rendering? (I would like to connect the 2 harddrives from the machine that has failed to the new machine.)
    2) I'm in Ft. Myers, FL for the next couple of weeks... what are some good options for either having a machine built or getting the parts to build myself? (I don't need an OS, but will install Win 7 Pro myself.) Normally I'd look to TigerDirect or CanadaComputers for a new system.
My main use for the machine will be Premiere/After Effects, with some Photoshop/Illustrator.
Any other advice/input on how to optimize the machine so that I don't have HDD issues and other isssues from overheating would be appreciated. Please keep in mind, I'm on a budget (which means I'd ideally like to spend between $800-$1300). :-)
    Thanks!
    Julie

  • The best practice when backing up your files

    Hi,
I recently started using Carbon Copy Cloner after using only Time Machine as my back up solution.  I do understand the purpose of each application TM and a cloner utility such as Super Duper or CCC but I was wondering what the best process is when using these two methods to backup you files.
For instance I use TM to back up my files as frequently as possible to keep all my recent changes updated, but I don’t see how I would keep my clone updated and make sure that when something happens I will have a workable boot disk and not something that contains corrupted files.  In other words I think these cloner utilities have some sort of feature to keep your clone drive updated every time something changes but this got me wondering what if you update your clone drive and for some reason one of the updated file was corrupted, without you knowing it if course, now you have a backup that contains bad files and may affect your system (corrupted fonts files etc.) and when you realized that something is not working right in your system you may want to recover from your clone but you will basically end up with the same problem because the bad files were also backed up.
How do you ensure that your clone will always be ready and that it will not contain bad files?
What is your backup process?  Be so kind and share your method.
Again, I’m ok with TM I just need to know how you guys are managing your clone drives using ether Super Duper or Carbon Copy Cloner.
    Thanks a lot!

I use CCC exclusively and update my clones every couple of days or after installing updates. I have no use for TM, since I've never had to go back and get something I deleted or changed. I do, however, boot into those clones on a routine basis to ensure that they look and act like the originals. This has worked for over seven years, but YMMV.

  • What is the best solution when dealing with user settings

We have a webapp, when a user logs in, all the user en application settings are read (only once) from the database and stored in a session bean (for quick access).
But when some application setting is changed, I want to tell all the session beans that they need to reload the settings.
Is there a good solution for this?
    Thanks in advance.

There are several ways to do this:
    1) Put a timestamp on the application settings tables whenever they are changed. At the beginning of each request, send a small query just for this timestamp and compare it to a timestamp for when the session was created. If it is newer then the session then force a full refresh of the session data, otherwise keep using pre-loaded session data. This keeps normal operation quick since the SQL needed for the intial test is simple and quick, but will get the user the new information they need when they need it.
    2) Collect your sessions into an external collection stored inside application scope. Have a trigger that when the application settings change, the session objects are iterated through and updated. This way the settings may be updated without the user making a request - and the updates may be time-invisible to the user. But you could get into situations where you are updating settings at the same time you are reading settings, so you will need to synchronize your access.
    3) Don't put application settings in the session. The session should be for user settings only. The application scope (Servlet Context) should be used to store the application settings. As such, when application level changes to the DB are made, the application-level object is reloaded. You only have one copy in memory, it updates just once, no need to iterate through sessions, and users who use the application settings are using the most recent copy.

Most error messages relating to missing .dll files are due to virus scanners. The scanner removes the threat (the .dll file) but leaves the program behind that tries to invoke the .dll file. Your recipe of using System Restore to fix the problem could well
backfire: It might restore the infected .dll file! This is why it is important to know the full wording of the error message. If the missing file resided in the System32 folder then it's probably OK to restore it. If it resided elsewhere then restoration would
    probably be a bad idea.

  • How to achieve the best quality when doing a narration?

    Hello,
I'm trying to figure out how to achieve the best possible narration in a documentary I'm doing using the FCP voice over tool, a USB mic, and Final Cut Studio's audio filters. Am I on the right track? How do I clean up an average voice over narration? Do I need additional equipment? Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jordan

The best thing you can do is to record it properly in the first place - if you want it to sound good. The environment you record in is VERY important as is the choice of mic you use ... most of the consumer USB mics aren't all that great in terms of quality.
Record in an acoustically flat room with good sound dampening. Even a clothes closet will do in a pinch. Record through a mixer so you can monitor the VO artist as they record. I've found it better to record to tape (camera or VTR) with a pro mic than to use FCP's voice over tool.

  • What is the best practice when distributing a desktop application which uses SMO

I have a WPF application which installs a web site. One of the installation steps is to execute a number of SQL scripts which will install website's database. The database server is not necessarily the same machine as the product is installed - in most cases
it's a different server on the same network. All the scripts are generated by a build of database project (visual studio 2012 db project) - hence all of those are in sqlcmd mode.
I can workaround sql variables (:variable - type of creature) by making some simple text replacements. The big problem is with the "GO" statements. At first I thought that I can split the script into many subscripts using a regex split operation
defining "GO" to be the separator - this did not work; having a world Polygon in the script will cause the whole operation to fail. Unfortunately I have no control  over the content of the script hence if someone will decide
to put a comment like /* If you do not know how to use this script then GO TO HELL */ would break the installation process.
I have then tried executing the whole script (with "GO" statements) using SMO. This works well on my development machine but once I try to do this on a server, application falls over missing dlls. Now for Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo, Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo, Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlClrProvider
and Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlEnum the solution is simple - I can just set "Copy local" to true and those dlls will be distributed with the application.
Big problem is with Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlClrProvider.dll. OK, I can get this library from my local machine - but I am not sure which SQL version this will be used with. I can't include more than one of those dlls as all of those have the same name.
I know that the official MS line is to install SQL feature pack (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff713979.aspx). But again - I do not know which version of SQL my application will be working with, and I need to make the installation process as simple
    as possible.
My question is - is there a way I can distribute a desktop application (which makes a use of SMO) without any prerequisites and for all versions of SQL server? If there is no such a thing then using SMO is pretty much pointless as it cannot be distribute
    - even if then it's not version agnostic... Thanks for any help!

I agree with Olaf, when you want to ensure that you can interact with any version of SQL Server.
The problem you will run into if you are not controlling the version of SQL Server is in the version of SMO. If you use SMO version 10.5 and need to deploy using SMO to SQL 2012, it will not work. SMO will always be backward compatible but not forward compatible.
So you would have to have a max version of SQL Server your setup would deploy to in order to control errors and failures. So if you distribute SQL 2012 SMO then the max version would be SQL 2012 for the deploy.
So using a tool that is version agnostic is the way to go, and you can also use in .NET the System.Data.SqlClient to execute statements against the SQL Server as well. This will be version agnostic too.

  • What is the best practice when any of Src/Tgt DB is re-started in streams

We have a live production dual direction streams environment (A --> B and B --> A) and due to a DBFcorrupt file at source A, it was brought down and all traffic was switched to B. All streams captures, prop and apply were enabled and messages were captured at B and propagated to A (but cannot reach A and apply there as it was down) .When A is re-started, some of the captured messages in B never got applied to A. What could be the possible reason. What is a best practice in a streams environment when any of the source/target instance is shutdown and re-started.

  • What's the best option when the internal hard drive is full?

    Hi all,
I am running an iMac 27" with a 2 TB hard drive, which is supported by a 5 GB external RAID for backup (Time Machine and Aperture Vault).
At the moment I have RAW masters located on the iMac in a special folder and linked into Aperture (referenced masters) and the processed JPEG or TIFF files managed within Aperture (library is on the internal drive).
Well, it finally happened and the hard drive is full, and I need to think about how to reorganize my files.
What would be your preferred scenario of organizing files, keeping in mind both speed/performance and safety/backup (i.e., the reason master files are on the iMac and not just on the RAID is because that gives me one more copy).
Ideas I have come up with:
    - Get the internal drive upgraded to 3 TB
    - Get an additional external hard drive for the master files
    - Split the library and move the less used files/projects to an external drive, keep the others on the drive
    - Try to move other stuff (e.g., music) to an external drive (not sure that would be enough)
    - Keep masters only on the RAID disk
Any opinions, ideally backed up by experience, would be greatly appreciated. If you'd go for an external drive, I'd also like to hear what kind of drive you'd recommend (this iMac does not have Thunderbolt, it is from 2009).
    Thanks and cheers,
    Bastian

The best option for your situation in my opinion would be to put the masters on an external drive as referenced masters and get a second external to back them up. This will move the masters off your internal drive freeing up space.
USB drives will be fine for this especially for the backup drive. If you can spring for FireWire so much the better.

Hey guys,We're in a fortunate licencing position, whereby we could be compared to kids in a sweetshop with Microsoft products. And my predecessor took advantage of that massively. However, our parent company foots the bill and now want us to stop using SCCM.I personally am not familiar enough with it to call myself competent in it's use and the previous guy tried to use it to push out images to PCs etc but failed.I am now in a position, whereby I need to get rid of this and I want to start using WDS.I have a fresh Server 2012 R2 box with WDS installed. I've configured it, so it should work fine.
