Quote levels disappear on recipient's computer

Unfortunately, I have more than a few correspondents using non-Mac computers. For some of them, including two frequent correspondents, the quote level disappears when I reply to their messages. In other words, when I reply, both their original text and my responses appear identical (same size, same font, same color, no "quote level" lines on the left).
I'm assuming that this is the result of either their provider (gmail in both cases, although the messages might be forwarded to Outlook; if it makes a difference, I can get that information) or how their options are set.
Any ideas?

Is there a chance he doesn't have the most updated version of iTunes?

  • Email replys missing their quote levels from Mail.app

    When I get html-formatted email from Mail.app that is a reply to an earlier message, the html version of the email looks fine. However, the text version that is also attached does not include any of the email quote levels.
    In other words, if the html version (as seen in Mail.app) looks like this:
    On Feb 5, 2010, at 10:31 AM, John Smith:
    | I confirmed with Jack that we will meet at 11
    The text version will look like this:

    I would exped the quoted text to start with "> ".
    This does not appear to happen when Mail.app is configured to send messages as Plain text.
    This seems like a bug. Is there a way to work around it until it gets fixed?

    Hello Greg.
    The Mail.app uses open internet standards for the message header and since there is so much bulk spam, many ISPs have spam filters on the server in addition to antivirus scans for attachments. There are false positives with both just as sometimes occurs with the the built-in spam filter with the Mail.app.
    The email client used by the recipient may also have a spam filter or a 3rd party spam filter which can also have false positives.
    If this occurs at the incoming mail server for the recipient, messages incorrectly marked as junk are not deleted and moved to a junk mailbox at the server. The recipient should have a preference setting at the server or the ability to mark a message as not junk (along with it is OK to allow future messages to be recieved by the sender's email address) that was incorrectly marked as junk by the spam filter.

  • Problems reducing quote level when forwarding.

    In Mail, under the Format menu, there is a selection "Quote Level". Under that there are selections for "Increase" and "Decrease". Early on with OS-X, decrease quote level worked sporadically (sometimes). Now it doesn't seem to work at all. I have my preferences set to not add a quote level when I forward, but I often get emails that are already quoted, many several levels deep. I'm talking about the vertical, colored bars at the left edge of the mail body window. (I can easily edit out the ">"s.) Sometimes I can copy the original mail and paste it over the forward to get rid of the quotes, but that often doesn't work either - the quote lines persist.
    Any insights?

    I forwarded a message with a photo to my iphone and just got a question mark icon on the iphone. I've had this problem for years... back several generations of the mail program. How do we get apple to fix it? You should just be able to click forward and send and be confident that the attachment will display properly.

  • How do I increase or decrease the quote level when editing a message?

    When replying to a message, I often like to intersperse my responses with the relevant sections of the original message. When I try to do that in Thunderbird, it extends the quote line way above the quoted text. There appears to be no way to delete the "excess" section of the quote line without removing the quote line entirely.
    Also, when there are two previous messages in a thread, there is only one quote line next to both. I cannot find any setting, nor any manual way of increasing the quote level of the original message.

    Change the email on the old account to another new, current email address.
    An email address can only be linked to one Apple ID.
    It is possible to have content from multiple Apple ID's on a single iDevice.

  • The sounds level disappear

    The sounds level on my iphone disappeared, no sound comes out of notifications as messages and e-mails do not go by the speaker. In function ipod the sound does not come out too. When I put the headset but the sounds level reappears when the headset shot the sounds level disappears again.

  • Finder flashes and disappears at top.  Computer dead on only one account.

    My iMac G4 (800 mhz) running the latest update/version of Tiger is suddenly acting up on one account only. On other accounts, no problem. On the problem account, the finder bar appears and disappears about every second. I can start to open applications (Word, Safari, etc.), but they close before fully opening. No recent changes to the computer and only safe internet surfing (to the best of my knowledge).

    If you don't mind using the Terminal you can get into any account using super user commands. The slickest, and most dangerous way, is to kill Finder and relaunch it as root. The safest way is to launch Terminal from /Applications/Utilities. Next you want to go into the other user's Prefs folder, so type this and hit the Return key:
    sudo -s
    give your admin password, which is not echoed to the screen, and hit the Return key again. Your regular user name will be changed to root. You can now do whatever you please. Navigate to the other account's Prefs folder:
    cd /Users/otheraccount/Library/Preferences
    hit the Return key, then type ls and hit Return to see a list of all the Preferences. Here's a sample of me accessing that folder in my test account (short name is revelator) and asking for a list of the files:
    Tiger:~ francine$ sudo -s
    Tiger:~ root# cd /Users/revelator/Library/Preferences
    Tiger:/Users/revelator/Library/Preferences root# ls
    From the list of files you can then copy of the name of what you want to remove and paste it in the remove command or type it:
    Tiger:/Users/revelator/Library/Preferences root# rm com.apple.finder.plist
    After you finish removing the files type
    exit
    and hit Return.

    Why the output sound level isn't equal if we listen the LP directly from the gramophone (AUX1) or from the computer during the recording the track on the computer?

    and we have connected E-MU with the (gramohone) speakers through the headphone output on the E-MU and turn the headphone level to the maximum, but the sound level is still lower from the same speakers.
    If we compare the track after the recording with the LP on the gramphone is the level of the sound the same/equal.
    So we need to have all three sound levels equal:
    -from the LP form the gramophone
    -from the computer during the recording
    -from our track on the hard disk after the recording

    I've noticed that some content levels (for LTS) disappear in RPD after deploying to local BI server. Then we need to re-create them before deploying back to DEV.
    Has anyone experienced the issue?

    Finally I am able to view pages using LDAP authentication. I had to add the user name explicitly in orion-web.xml file.
    Now my question is if I want to let everyone access the application once they authenticate themselves through LDAP( login module). What should I do . If I make impliesAll="true" in either orion-web.xml or orion-application.xml file it allows everyone, doesn't go through the login step.
    Any Help would be appreciated...

  • IPod Shuffle disappeared from iTunes and computer

    I did a silly thing...while charging, my ipod shuffle the charging light was blinking. Booklet said that it meant it was using it as an external data storage disc. It asked if I wanted it to, I said no. Now it has disappeared from my iTunes and from my Computer. I've reset it. Don't want to restore it and lose my songs on it (it says to backup first, but how can I when I can't find it on my computer?). I'm thinking to reinstall itunes program. Important Question, if I do that, will I lose all the songs in my itunes library? I've checked all my USB hubs in Device Manger, they all appear to be working, yet none show ipod. Help please and thanks! Denise

    what file do you mean? My entire library is still there and working on iTunes. My iPod still has all it's songs and still plays on its own. itunes program just doesn't show that ipod is connected to it. Anyone else know? Thanks, D.

  • Songs disappear without connecting to computer

    Help...I was using my IPS today and paused the playback when I got up from my desk for a meeting. I came back 30 minutes later and all my songs are gone. Battery is charged (green). IPS was not connected to laptop, so this doesn't appear to be an iTunes import/export issue...I don't think...but I have to go and add everything back again. If I have to re-import all my songs every month, what's the use?
    Please help, this is the second time this has happened. The first time all but 15 songs disappeared. This time they're all gone.

    What you mean is that you want to "Restore" it. You can't restore the iPod without first connecting the iPod to your computer and iTunes: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

    According to client requirement The quote needs to contain some form of representation of the functional location, otherwise they will not know what locations are affected by the quote, the change, the termination etc.
    Please give me the solution how to check/customize  location in the quotation level.

    Hello Miku,
    If you are using service related materials, then you can assign in the functional location in Quotation or in sales documents in the following menu option: Quotation>Extras>Technical Objects.
    If you are not using service related materials, then option could be, create configurable material, with a reference characteristics with Table Name=IFLO, Field Name=TPLNR. This way you can link an existing functional location to quotation items.
