QUOTED IDENTIFIER (DASH in COLUMN NAME) - and DBMS_XMLSAVE
I HAD to create a View where the column names had embedded dashes in order to correspond to the XML I am receiving. The view contains the columns:
V_VEND_H_XML - view name
BATCH-UNIQUE-ID
ADD-COUNT
MODIFY-COUNT
DELETE-COUNT
REACTIVATE-COUNT
TRANSACTION-DATE
ACTION-TIME
When I created it and when I reference a column I am supposed to put the column name in double quotes (").
I am encountering 2 problems when I try to use these column.
1. I need to do the following functions/procedures and provide the column name:

DBMS_XMLSave.setUpdateColumn(l_ctx,'"ADD-COUNT"');

DBMS_XMLSave.setUpdateColumn(l_ctx,'"REACTIVATE-COUNT"');

DBMS_XMLSave.setUpdateColumn(l_ctx,'"ACTION-TIME"');
DBMS_XMLSave.setCommitBatch(l_ctx, 0);

(I have tried with and without the double quotes - inside the require single quotes)
In the example above, I get an error which implies that the package code is changing the case to lower case (see "batch-unique-id" below)
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Column '"batch-unique-id"', specified to be a key column, does not not exits in table 'V_IFMIS_VEND_XML_H_XMIT2'.

Does anyone know how I can make this work?
This is a genuine bug, not specific to XE. Here is a minimal testcase:

I have several views on my project file (MSPROJECT 2010) and I want to build a macro so that;
1. User can select any view ( Views can have diffrent columns and the user may add new columns as well)
2. User runs the Macro and all the coulmns along with the tasks displayed in the view will be written to a excel file. ( I don't want to build several macro's for each view, I'm thinking of a common method which would work for any selected view)
The problem I'm facing is that how will i read the column names and data for a particular view on the fly without hard coding them inside the vba code ?
The solution needs to work on a master schedule as well.

It's wild that JTable can diplay the data without column names and scroll bar.
I have no idea what's going wrong.Cause I follow the Sun Tutorial to code.

How to list column names and data types for a given table using SQL
I remember that it is possible to use a select statement to list the column names and data types of databaase tables but forgot how its done. Please help.
You can select what you need from DBA_TAB_COLUMNS (or ALL_TAB_COLUMNS or USER_TAB_COLUMNS).

Desc isn't really a SQL command. Rather its a command specific to Oracle. Thats why it will work in SQLPlus and not anywhere else. If you want the column information for a table you can user either the user_tab_columns or all_tab_columns, depending on which schema the table is in. The query would look like:
select * from all_tab_columns where table_name = 'BONUS'

Is there anyone that can help me. I have successfully been able to load a JTable from an MS access database using vectors. I am now trying to find out how to hardcode the column names into the JTable as a string.
Can anyone please also show me some code on how to be able update a value in a cell (from ''N'' to ''Y'') by double clicking on that row.
How can I make all the other columns non-editable.

Not much of a difference in LOC but certainly more elegant ;-)

How to get the column name and table name from xml file
I have one XML file, I generated xsd file from that xml file but the problem is i dont know table name and column name. So my question is how can I retrieve the data from that xml file?
Here's an example using binary XML storage (instead of Object-Relational storage as described in the article).

Detecting column name and value from a xml
Dear all,
I need to create a procedure to get a xml file. The xml file may contain a table data or procedure parameter value. Off course it will also contain a flag if the data is of a procedure or table nnd then it's table or procedure name, column name(in case of table), and value. The procedure will receive the xml file and it does not know the column name in case of table or parameter name in case of procedure and then its value. i.e i have to parse the xml file without knowing the column name for table or parameter for procedure. Then i may populate data to my need. How can i do that? Please help me.
