Qustion for wireless card Satelite Pro M30

Hello,
I laptop has the Intel 2100. Would a 2200 Intel card purchased from the open market operate, or must I purchase the Toshiba one?
Thanks and Regards
George

Hi
In my opinion you can buy the wireless card where you want but the cards that you can order at Toshiba site are tested and it must work without problem. As far as I know on your unit there are drivers for INTEL and ATHEROS wireless cards already preinstalled and these cards will be recognized and installed automatically.

  • Recommendations for Wireless Card?

I am thinking of getting a new wireless card for my laptop because my wireless connection is very weak at home. We all use a router, however my sister in the room next to me has flawless connection on her Windows laptop. It was suggested to me to look into getting a networking card that matches my Linksys router for stronger wireless connection, but I was hoping for some more advice. I do not know where to look first or how to start searching.

Some WiFi issues are known to be fixed simply by upgrading to 10.4.11. To upgrade to 10.4.11, follow my FAQ*:

I'm guessing the Wifi card since the E2 has BT already.
I found a few on amazon.com, but as Tribbles mentioned eBay may be the cheapest place to find one:

  • IdeaPad S415 touch Windows 8.1 Update for Wireless Card Lenovo Part #20200437

I bought this wireless/bluetooth card for my Ideapad S415T and the only drivers for it were for Windows 7.  One solution I found said to run the Win 7 drivers in compatibility mode.  I wasn't satisfied with doing that so I hunted for the updated drivers for Win 8.1 and found them.  I have provided the link at the bottom of this page.
(Make sure you are plugged into your router by an ethernet cable to access internet)
    1. When you get to the page scroll down until you see the blue links click on either the link for Win 8.1 32 or 64 bit.  If you are not sure which version of Windows you have, go to your desktop open Control Panel, click on System and Security, find System and click on it. Under the System heading on this page you will find if you are 32 or 64 bit. Keep this window open as you will need it in step 3.
    2. Once you have downloaded the Zip file go to where it is in Downloads under This PC.  Right click on the folder file, which has a zipper on it, highlight Extract All.  This will undo the zip file into a separate file that is open.  Leave it in the download folder.
    3. Go back to your desktop. On the left hand side of the window you left open in step 1 look for Device Manager click on this.  Give it a minute as it opens the list.  If you just installed this piece of hardware it may show up under Other Network and will have a yellow triangle on it with an exclamation mark in it.
    4. Right click on it and highlight Update Driver Software.  This will open a new window click on Browse This Computer.  If this is an exsisting piece of hardware it can be found under Network Adapters.  Look for Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter follow the instructions as for Other Network
    4. Once the new window opens up click on the Browse button.  This will bring up a new message box.  Highlight the Downloads folder.  At the bottom of the new message window click Open. This will populate the Browse bar.
    5.  Make sure Include Subfolders is checked (it should be by default), click next and it should find the drivers.  Follow the directions if any come up after that, and voila!  Your wireless should work.

If you think I may have missed something in the steps just reply to this post either what I missed or that you are having trouble with it.  Good luck

Can you be more specific with the below, as I can't make sense of what you're referring to?  I don't know what element size is at all, or where to change it.  And, I don't know what you mean by unchecking a checkbox in the device manager as there are no checkboxes.  More guidance and specifics would be appreciated.
    * Change the element size back to recover from blurry text
    * Go to device manager and uncheck that checkbox for the first of the USB devices in HID so that the touchscreen does always react on the first touch (this setting has been lost during the update process)

  • Media buttons on Satelite Pro M30

    How do i use them?
I have read a topic on this buttons, but that didnt help me out.
When i open the TOSHIBA Controls, and go to the media tab, it says that it uses for audio and video Windows Media Player, but when i am playing music or movies with Windows Media Player (i have tried 9 and 10), nothing happens when i press those buttons...
I have installed the Common Modules, and the Button Control, so i wonder what i am doing wrong...
    Bart

    Hi,
did you check the settings of TOSHIBA Controls and Button Control?
Did these buttons work when you were using the original Toshiba OS?
Another point could be the installation order. The Tools&Utilites CD contains a html file, there is the installation order. Look at this and install the drivers in the right order.
    Bye Bob

    thanks

    Hello Michi
It is not easy to give you any precise info but if your notebook has Intel Centrino mobile technology you can use Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG LAN Mini PCI adaptor. I have the same WLAN card and can use WPA and 54mbits data transfer speed.
If you want to be sure try to contact service partner in your country. They should know this for sure.

  • Satellite Pro M30 - Download for drivers?

    Hi everyone,
I hope someone is able to help me out:
I tried to find the drivers for my notebook on this site here, since my original CD with the drivers on it got lost. I was able to get to the drivers' section where I entered the serial number of my notebook. After this was done, I got redirected to a site, which appeared to store everything you need for the Toshiba Sat Pro M30. Sadly, all it did was displaying the "loading circle", no matter which section I've tried to access (e.g. "manuals" or "drivers", etc.).
Next, I hit up the forums and read about an "archive", in which drivers and other utilities for older, outdated notebooks are available. Unfortunately, said section wasn't to be found at all.
Also, my googling efforts didn't get me anywhere.
Could someone tell me what I've have to do to get a hold of these drivers or, in case there ain't such an option, upload me the pack of those drivers (like e.g. on Megaupload.com)?
I'd be forever indebted to this certain someone.
    Thanks in advance!

I finally got it now. This is fantastic! Thanks a bunch!
Well, it might be a bit too hard for someone to associate "Product type" with something like "Archive" and that's why many people don't see it.
Back then, when I clicked "Production type" to choose from its list, I didn't even saw "Archive", cause "Notebook" hit my eye right away.
Maybe they should make it clearer/more obvious. Just my 2 cents.
Nevertheless, I found it in the end due to the help of you guys. Thank you so much for it!

  • 3rd party wireless cards

Are there any drivers for wireless cards from a 3rd party, say netgear, had one laying around, tried to use it, I did try orangeware.com, but that didnt work, software did, hardware didnt, any Ideas?
my mobo has no provisions for airport.

Got an 802.11g PCMCIA card from MacWireless.com for my Ti Powerbook G4. Works fine; no problems with either Tiger or Leopard.
Per instructions, I started by removing the Airport 802.11b card that came with the G4. MacWireless accepted it for a rebate, which made the new card free. Easier than selling the Airport myself.

  • Where can I find a wireless card for my early 2009 Mac Pro (MB871LL/A, MacPro4,1)?

Where on on earth can I purchase a wireless card for my Mac Pro?
Apple is of no help.  Their "Geniuses" told me that it is impossible for them sell one to me because Apple will not supply wireless cards or memory for previous generation computers.  That is totally absurd.  If I want to get a wireless card for my 2 year young computer I can't? I have to buy a brand new computer with one previously installed. Ridiculous!
Any help or suggestions would be of great value to me.

Well I found what I think is the correct card on B&H.
    Hopefully it works....

  • Good wireless cards for older Mac Pros

I have a Mac Pro Dual-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz at work that we are trying to get online wirelessly. A couple of months ago, we bought a Hawking Hi-Gain Wireless-N USB Adaptor, which was working fine until a recent update was performed. Since then, the computer crashes almost immediately if the wireless adaptor is plugged in, but runs fine when it is taken out. I am curious if anyone else has run into a similar problem when using a wireless adaptor. I also wanted to know if anyone had a recommendation for a different, reliable wireless card for an older Mac Pro.
    Thanks in advance.

I have almost the exact same situation.
Same system, a d-link wua 1340 usb wireless adaptor.
Worked fine for several weeks or so until i updated to snow leopard.
Now frequent system crashes, grey screen and the box that tells me to use the power button to shut down.
I tried going back to 10.5 and still the same problem.

  • Which Wireless Card for Mac Pro 2.93ghz (4.1)

    Hi,
I would like to add a wireless card to my Mac Pro 2.93ghz (4.1)(early 2009) but im a little unsure of which card is compatible, after searching on the net for info I have these model numbers - Airport Extreme MB988Z/A or MB988ZM/A.
    Many thanks,
    Antz

I have an Early '08 Mac Pro running an 8800GT in Slot 1 and a 2600XT in Slot 2.
I got my 2600 for $50 USD and have found it to work very quietly and without fuss. It's 3D performance is a little lacking but I didn't buy it for that.
It installed straight into Slot 2 and requires no additional power cable. I've also the above setup running four 23" Apple Cinema Displays without breaking a sweat.
As for your 7300 predicament, for all intensive purposes, this card does not have an the correct internal ROM required to boot an Early '08 Mac Pro. Whilst I've not tested it, I've no reason to doubt well-informed comments from other members:

  • Satellite Pro 4600 Wireless card does not work with WIN2K ?

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 with UK dealer installed PA3070U-1MPC wireless card running with Windows 2000
The wireless client manager finds the network of my wireless router and reports the signal is excellent and I see all green bars swhowing.
However I can't mske a connection, in 'connections' the wireless one says 'network cable is disconnected'
the router works ok with other laptops in my house.
I have latest version of Win2K also have downloaded and installed latest versions of client manager and WLAN card driver for win2k from toshiba website.
The 'toshiba support in Turkey' told me 'I need a different driver for Win2K for my wireless card cause the win2K driver on the toshiba website is not for 'this' wireless card'. I have waited for this for 3 weeks now and have been unable to reach the elusive UK Level 3 support who supposedly have this driver. I have seen on the internet the same wireless card is has been sold as a 'made by toshiba' accessory and it says it is compatible with Wim2K
What do I do next please ? Does this run at all with Win2K , is there 'another driver' and so on ?
    Thanks

    hello
please be more scpecific - what do you mean by 'disconnect the LAN' - I have nothing conneced there anyway ? do you mean 'disable' the LAN even though there is nothing plugged in ? can you please post the exact sequence of this so I can try ir too.
In the meantime my laptop has been to Toshiba for them to sort out at their highest level UK support base. I was hoping my troubles would be over - but no, read below what happened. They are basically saying my win2k is not in order but I had just installed and updated it so right now I haven't a clue what to do next.
START QUOTE of Toshiba Support response:
    Sat Pro 4600
    Serial No: 31474181G
Windows 2000 SP4 (customers build not recovery CD)
BIOS V1.80 not current therefore updated to V2.60
The notebooks wireless card is functional and has the correct driver installed, it also has the correct and latest version of the Wireless Client Manager. The wireless function appears to see the router but will not connect and obtain an IP address. Irrespective of the settings applied within Internet Explorer or the Wireless client manager you cannot obtain a connection. The customer did not have any Toshiba utilities installed such as, Power Saver, Common Modules, Chipset drivers, network device switch, I therefore installed these missing components and updated the BIOS to the most current revision. However despite this the unit will still not connect to the wireless.
I therefore removed the customers HDD and replaced his HDD with a Toshiba loan HDD with a fresh build that I had created. When using the machine with this build the wireless connected without issue and I was able to browse the internet etc. I placed the customers HDD into our machine and the problem with the wireless was replicated on our machine here, therefore the problem is not with the wireless card or any hardware aspect of the machine, the problem lies with the customer's build of Win 2000. I examined for anything obvious but could not find anything, therefore I'm sending this machine back to customer with the advice that his build needs addressing or he needs to reload Win 2000 his machine.
As you can see from the above comments, the machine performs as per specification with loan HDD and fresh build of Win 2000 installed, the problem is only present with you HDD and build in the machine. In addition to this I have replaced the missing screws on the base of the machine ensuring the machine is structure is maintained.
    5 x B16 Screws
    1 x B6 Screw
    1 x Memory Cover Screw

  • Satellite Pro M30 graphics card not working when driver is installed

    Hi all,
Im having problem with my nvidia Geforce FX Go5200, in a Satellite Pro M30 laptop, (Intel Pentium M processor 1.7 GHz, 512 Ram). This card was working fine suddenly the notebook stops.
I have formatted the notebook and installed Win XP PRO. After installing the VGA driver I restarted the notebook but black screen started coming up right after the Win XP splash screen appears. The notebook continues to start up but no screen.
It starts just fine in safe mode. I get my best screen by simply disabling the geforce card or uninstalling the driver. I tried to install a new driver for the VGA from the Toshiba download site but same problem appears. I have also tried updating BIOS but nothing happens.
    Anyone can help me?
    [email protected]

It is very strange issue. It will be really interesting to know if this happen when you use delivered recovery installations CD.
Anyway I presume there is some problem with LCD display. In safe mode the desktop is shown in lowers resolution but when OS starts the resolution will be adapted for standard one (1280x800) and obviously there is the problem.
I am not technician but I recommend you to contact service partner. As far as I know they use special tools and programs for display tests. They can tell you more.

  • How can I select which channel the wireless card on the Macbook Pro uses?

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro which must be 5-6 years old running OS ver10.5.8 with the following wireless card details..
Wireless Card Type:          AirPort Extreme  (0x168C, 0x86)
      Wireless Card Locale:          Worldwide
      Wireless Card Firmware Version:          1.4.16.2
      Current Wireless Network:          ML MC
      Wireless Channel:          6
.. and a Time Capsule running firmware ver 7.6.1.
We recently installed a faster broadband connection and for some reason the pc’s (recent purchases) we have are regularly getting a 37Gb max download speed and the MacBook Pro is regularly getting only 19Gb max download speed.  All the computers are connecting through the same Time Capsule to the net.  On the Time Capsule the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bandwidths are set so the channel is selected automatically.
Is the max download speed on the MacBook pro slower because of the wireless card in it?  And if so, how can I check?  Could I manually adjust it to a faster setting?
    Thanks,
    Simon

Channels are managed by the router and the automatic settings on your TC is about right - unless you have general WiFi issues.
Your slower speed is down to the older Airport card in your MBP.

  • Elementary question: need wireless card for old Dell

Hi, all: I need to buy a wireless card for my several-years-old Dell Precision 340 desktop, so that I can network it with my MacBook Pro and printer using AirPort Express. Can buy any old USB network adapter card branded "universal"? Any recommendations? There is no built-in wireless card. Also, I understand that I will have to reconfigure the AirPort somehow to handle both PC and Mac (I spent a long time on the phone with Support getting to work in the first place, just with the Mac notebook).
    Thanks for any advice!

Hello jonnofor. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Can buy any old USB network adapter card branded "universal"? Any recommendations? There is no built-in wireless card.
Just about any 802.11b/g wireless device will work with the AirPort Express Base Station (AX). The AX is capable of up to WPA2 wireless encryption, so if this is important to you, you would want a device that is WPA or WPA2 capable as well. In addition to USB-style, the Precision 340 can also take PCI-cards. For example, Linksys offers both a USB & PCI types.
Also, I understand that I will have to reconfigure the AirPort somehow to handle both PC and Mac
There shouldn't be any required configuration changes necessary for the AX just to support both Macs and PCs. Most issues that come into play relate to using WEP for wireless encryption. You can eliminate this by using WPA or WPA2 instead.
