Qwerty instead of qwertz

Hello Folks,
after updating to 10.4 I have a wrong keyboard layout in my classic environment using 9.22 (German). I have trashed all possible prefs files including the "Classic-Prefs" and keyboard prefs - with no success. This must be a problem of the classic environment since everything works fine when I boot with OS 9.2.
Does anyone have a good idea about this?
Stefan
  Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Stefan, I don't know too much about that, but since no-one else jumped in before…
Please list "all possible prefs files including the "Classic-Prefs" and keyboard prefs"
Which elements are actually set to German? Just the 9 keyboard, both 9 and X systems, fonts, what?
Is this an Apple German keyboard layout, or who else's?
Classic can't switch to another language setting because OS 9 is not multi-lingual. You could install a System Folder in any one language, or separate System Folders in different languages and choose among them from Classic System Preference, but 9 and therefore Classic can't switch once it's running…
When it looks like "German" is selected does that really mean fonts look German, or is the menubar wording actually in German, or something else?

  • Qwerty instead of Azerty before loggin in

    Hi everyone,
I have a mac mini and an AZERTY keyboard, when i start my Mac mini and i type my password to access my user account my keyboard seems to be set on QWERTY (which is annoying to type my password correctly) and then once I'm logged into my account my keyboard works as normal (azerty).
I bought my mac mini in the UK and the azerty keyboard on the apple store website, my mac is configured in french and so is my keyboard.
Is there a reason why my keyboard behaves that way ??? and what is the solution to fix this little issue ?
    thank you for your answers.

  • Czech QWERTY keyboard for Lumia 820

    Hi,
I am a new Lumia 820 user and I am using Czech language in the keyboard settings, but I need to have QWERTY keyborad instead of QWERTZ, which is preconfigured as a standard layout in this language option. Is there any possibility to switch Y/Z on the keyobard, while still having Czech language set? Thanks in adavance.
(BTW: In nomal Windows OS, you can choose keyboard layout between Czech or Czech-QWERTY)
    Best regards
    Petr

I'm afraid this is the only option currently available. Windows Phone 8 is not Windows 8, so we shouldn't expect the same functionality. Maybe in a later update the option might become available, you can always suggest it to Microsoft HERE

  • I would like to buy a MacBook Pro Retina 15" w QWERTY keyboard in Paris, France... do I have to add the price of an airline ticket to the US to do this?

    Hi,
I hope that someone in the community can help - I called the Apply main number in the US and the guy was clueless - he was even surprised that there are different time zones in other parts of the world.  Yep, I'm an American in Paris and realize that after 7 years here that I just don't want to switch to a french keyboard.  I'm in the market for a new MacBook Pro Retina (I already have one but am changing jobs), but can't seem to figure out how to buy one from Paris.  Apple doesn't ship outside the US...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Found some items on Google for what you can do, customize when buying, swapping out ($US200 it sounded like) so it is possible.

unfortunately it is not so easy because replacing the keyboard is like replacing the upper case!

For information, i'm french and I have a friend that bought a US macbook pro but wanted a french AZERTY layout. If you buy a brand new one, the tip is to order the devise directly at the online apple store and to ask for the free option Canadian keyboard. Canadian keyboard are also azerty! I don't know for German layout...

The apple.ca store lists an English or French BTO option. But I don't know if that's the "real" French layout or the Quebec government's stipulated CSA layout. And maybe one with the QWERTY or maybe QWERTZ layout.
    The apple.com US site lists:
    Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
Keyboard (Western Spanish) & User's Guide
    Keyboard (French) & User's Guide
    Keyboard (Japanese) & User's Guide
Again. which French or others show what the actual keyboard layout will be or look like.
But buy the MB Air in France and other European countries and the choice and keyboard layout changes again, and most likely the France purchase will have the AZERTY KEYBOARD layout.
No mention I could find of the variations of the "Enter" key differences.

  • HT5633 Apple TV Bluetooth Keyboard Layout

    Hi,
how can we change the keyboard layout.
It doesn't recognize the AZERTY layout and use QWERTY instead...
    Cheers

    Only English QWERTY is supported.
"Apple TV uses the U.S. English keyboard layout regardless of the keyboard's hardware layout."
I had some friends that ran into this. Probably best to submit feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/.

  • Typing chinese characters on 9iJeveloper JSP

    Hi,
I have a jsp with UTF-8 encoding, and my 9iJdeveloper project complier setting
is marked as UTF-8 as well. But i need to display chinese characters on the jsp.
I can type in the characters but when building project, 9iJdeveloper display java
malformed error. Does Anyone meet this problem before?
    rgds,
    joe

I'm referring the Keyboard dock, not the built-in keyboard on iPad.
You still need to use the Settings to select the Chinese keyboard layout. There is a separate section for hardware keyboards, where you can further choose us, french, german (depending on whether your physical keyboard is qwerty, azerty, or qwertz).
Are you having some problem after doing that? Are you familiar with how normal pinyin input works?

  • Choice of  keyboard layout buying a refurbished Macbook Air or Pro?

Do I have a choice of a certain keyboard layout when I buy a refurbished Macbook Air or Pro?
I like to buy a Macbook Air or Pro in the Swiss Apple Online Store.
There seems to be no information at all which kind of keyboard layout (e.g. US QWERTY or German QWERTZ) is built in.
    Thanks.

No further configurations are allowed.  You would have to find one with the keyboard you want already present on the mac.  I'm not sure where you can find info on how the keyboards in the refurb store are configured.  I would assume QWERTY unless otherwise specified (at least in the U.S. Apple refurb store).

  • Known freshly set firmware password, not being accepted on new MBP with retina. Locked out of bootmenu.

    Hello,
I have a MBP 15" with retina display and 16GB of RAM.
I bought it end August/early september and it has worked great so far, really happy with it.
After encountering some people that have had theirs stolen, i figured it was a good idea to enter a firmware password so that people can't use external drives to boot up from.
I just rebooted holding the alt key, clicked utilities -> firmware password and I set myself a password. It is one word, starts with a capital letter and has 2 numbers incorporated in it.
I then immediately rebooted and held alt again to test it. I enter the exact same password (100% sure) and for some reason it just deletes the entered password when i click enter/the ok arrow and it does nothing.......
Please tell me this is a known MAC problem, I am 100% sure i'm not going mad, but this kind of problem is annoying me! I have a dualboot windows 7 partition that I would like to continue to use without working virtually from within MAC OS X.
    Thanks, any ideas appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Nick

    Sigh i found it ....
Apple you could have mentioned that you enter it as QWERTY instead of AZERTY -_- My letters were coincidently all the same, however the numbers need shift pressed in the latter which they don't in the former.
Oh well, Back to enjoying my wonderful machine now
Bye and sorry for the unnecessary read! Hope it helps some with the same problem.

  • Drop off wifi connection more frequently after update to iOS 5.1

After the system updated to iOS 5.1, the wifi connection on my iPhone 4S drops off more freqently than before. For example, when I updated Galaxy on Fire 2,  the wifi lost connection about 5 times. But the connection on my Android tablet and laptop is completely fine.
Did anyone experience the same ?

Check again your list of activated keyboards and make sure only English is there.  Then tap the English item once and make sure that it is set to qwerty and not qwertz or azerty under the Software category.
If you have a "globe" key on your keyboard, you have NOT gotten rid of the non-English ones from your setting.

  • After update to iOS 5.1.1 my keyboard is no longer...

English Querty, it's more like QUERTZ with the ENTER key changing languages and my spell check is in another language. I double checked and my settings are set up for me. Any ideas? It makes it a little hard to type.

  • IOS 7 Keyboard - Annoying period key

In ios7, a period was added to the right of the keyboard in safari, making it just a touch shorter. This is resulting in an annoying side affect in that my search queries are looking like this:
    "apple.updates.for.ios.7"
Is there any way to turn this off in the keyboard, or even specify a keyboard to always use? I hate having to look at the screen every time to see that the layout has changed.

@Articsine: isn't that a hardware keyboard? Selecting it doesn't fix the problem for me. The only software keyboard choices I see are QWERTY, AZERTY, and QWERTZ.
It seems that the software keyboard changes depending on what type of field you are typing in. Entering a URL, for example, is where I get that annoying keyboard with the short spacebar and period. When entering an email address, the spacebar is even shorter, to make room for the @ key. But while I'm typing this message, I have a long spacebar and no adjacent period.
I guess my problem is that I like to use the URL field as my primary search bar, so I end up hitting that blasted period all the time. Didn't the previous version of safari mobile have a google search field next to the URL field? I think that's why I never used to have this problem...

  • IP-settings and keymap for guest

    Hi,
I have a few questions about the configuration of a guest.
1: How should I set the IP-settings for the virtual NIC?
I used a free IP on my network, as the gateway I used the same gateway as the server and as the netmask ofcourse also the same netmask as the server. I can ping to other computers on my network, so it's working fine. But I can't surf on the Internet with the guest. Do I have to change the nameserver?
2: How can I change the keymap that is used on the guest?
During the installation of OEL5U1 I chose to work with the keymap: be-latin1. When I open the file /etc/sysconfig/keyboard, I can verify that this is the keymap being used on the guest. But still, when I type, it's still qwerty instead of azerty and I can't find several characters. Is it possible I have to change the keyboard layout on the OVM Console, on the plugin?
    Thanks!

1: How should I set the IP-settings for the virtual NIC?
you may surf on internet using ip address directly? and do you need set http proxy in your environment?
2: How can I change the keymap that is used on the guest?
If you are using a keyboard with a layout other than US, the key mappings may not work properly in guest OS on the graphical console. (note:466564.1 Keyboard Mappings Does not Work Properly for Guest OS)

  • My Mid 1020 MacBook Pro has developed a number of problems

First a number of keys stopped working (a, q, 1, and backspace). at that time the caps lock light stopped illuminating. The caps lock has now come back on. but now when my computer boots up it asks me whether I want to boot to the HD or the 1.8 restore disk. I've tried resetting the PRAM etc etc, and have reinstalled 10.8.2.
The keyboard now types ∑´®†¥ (qwerty) instead of the normal characters.
Can anyone suggest what might be going on?

Either your alt/option key is physically stuck or the contacts below it are damaged or shorted by spilled liquid.
Given the other keys playing up, I'd be suspicious of the spill.
Another possibility is a swollen battery putting pressure on the underside of the keyboard.
In any case, I'd recommend getting it to an Authorised Apple repair shop for investigation. Diagnosing such faults via crystal ball seldom seems to work…
