R button is stuck on caps lock

Even though my caps lock is off the R button is still stuck on capital R and won't dRop to loweR case foR some Reason....

- Reboot the computer
- Press Caps Lock on and off a few times and try again

my macbook pro (now leopard 10.6) is stuck in caps lock, no matter if the caps lock key is on or if I use shift, and windows close very slowly. I also can't erase the hard drive with my Mac OS X dvd. I can't login because my password requires numbers I can't access due to the caps lock problems, but sometimes it randomly logs me in without asking for my password.

Which version of OS X is running on the machine? When you say that the installation DVD is 'stuck' do you mean physically stuck in the machine and you cannot boot from it?
Unless your running Lion or Mountain Lion, both of which have Recovery partitions, I would think that you're simply 'stuck' if you cannot boot from the DVD. At this point, I would take the machine to an Apple Store or an AASP for a free diagnosis and repair estimate. If it turns out that you've a failed hard drive, of course, you can always replace it yourself.

Computer stuck in caps lock

My Macbook air is stuck in caps, no caps lock key lit, though it can light up when tapped. I tried checking for stuck keys, nothing. I also rebooted SMP. nothing. everything is in caps, including character keys. It shows the computer in boot screen with SAFE BOOT in red top right corner. Help?

Using the external keyboard, try a PRAM reset:
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

System Stuck on Caps Lock

After running OnyX, Monolingual and Apple update (after restart) my MacBook Pro now has (some, not all) menu dialogs coming up in all caps (such as in NeoOffice). This also happens in any of my web browsers when I do a Google search (results are in all caps). For the record, as I type this question it too is showing all caps though I do not have caps lock on. Any suggestions?

Wireless keyboard stuck on caps lock and green led goes out

my Imac wireless keyboard works intermittantly.I put fresh alkaline batteries in and it is still intermittant.The small green led comes on for a few seconds and the goes out.it also seems to be stcuk in the upper case.
It is about 2 years old and have never had this problem before.Also,there is no other electronics within 3 feet of the computer.

It's not a font issue, I've tried several I know have upper/lower and are not working.

Software stuck in capslock but the key is not stuck, can't log in now due to the caps lock. what should I do?

I was doing homework and the software started lagging, followed by all the font being stuck in caps lock. My keys are find and I could still turn the caps on/off. This had no effect; still caps. I used shift, still the caps stayed on. I restarted it and it pops up with "OS x safeboot" and asks for my password. I type it in accordingly and it's wrong because the caps are still on. I don't know what to do and I have an online test due soon ;( help?

I would first try compressed air to blow anything from under the key. More knowledgeable people will hopefully chime in, but a problem starting at a level as low as logging in would make me think that the contacts under the keys might be dirty. Do you have another keyboard that you can plug in?

Laptop Won't Boot. Caps Lock Button Light Blinking

I just bought a HP Pavilion DM4-2015dx laptop a few days ago. Turning it on this morning, it won't boot and the Caps Lock light is blinking. I have searched the HP site and Google for a solution to the problem and have found nothing to tell me what the blinking light means or why it won't boot up. Does anyone have an idea of what the blinking light on the Caps Button means?

My laptop HP pavilion Dv6 - 7132TX had a problem of blank screen and caps lock key blinking. I bought the laptop on 28th Apr 2012 and just before completing a year, I was facing a problem of computer inadvertently not booting. LEDs blink 2 times BIOSBIOS corruption failure(as found in the table in the above link) So I went on and found another link to find the BIOS upgrade on the same page , where it read, Step 3: Find and download BIOS updates Then followed to the link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?swlinkmsg=100&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c00042629&lc=en&product=4057208 to download the driver. Downloaded the BIOS latest driver and installed it. It gave the same problem while restarting the laptop which was required to complete the bios installation. After that voila.. Problem gone Hopefully it stays that way. Now next task on my mind is to fix the sleeping problem of my PC and the noise problem of the speakers. 1.Laptop does not sleep and goes into freeze mode with LEDS glowing and screen black.2.While the laptop speakers are on, they constantly make some background noise as if the speakers have a loose connection. However I got a clue that the problem is not with the connections but with the frequencies mismatch. Inherent problem of laptop architecture I suppose. However still wish to hear sounds clearly on my laptop. Had a good experience with HP with my earlier laptop from HP. However now things are changing I guess. Feel good that I could at least troubleshoot and save money. [Even gas is Rs. 84 per litre.] and more importantly time since I was working when I saw this problem and did not want to keep laptop powered on All the time just to avoid restart .

Open the terminal app. (Applications => Utilities => Terminal)
Copy and paste the following code.
sudo nvram boot-args=""
then restart your mac.
if you will want to stick with the safe boot again use the following code.
sudo nvram boot-args="-x"

For some reason, my phone seems to be stuck on caps lock. I first noticed it when I was checking a voice mail. I usually put the speaker phone on when I listen to v.m., but this time it typed an O on the screen and said "sorry, 6 is not a recognized entry". When I started checking out other things, i.e. typing in a phone number, sending SMS text, it all appears in caps. If I try the alt key, it doesn't type numbers or other characters. I don't know what happened to set it like this and I can't find how to change it back. HELP!!!

Keyboard stuck in caps

I'm really hoping I can get some help with this asap. So my mackbook pro seems to be stuck in caps lock, however the caps key is not stuck and neither of the shift keys are stuck either. Upon booting up the keys make a sound like they are locked or something, but will then start working in caps again. I cannot log into the computer as my password is all lowercase letters. I have tried restarting, plugging the charger in, pressing the option key five times (in case the problem is mouse keys), as well as starting it in safe mode. I have tried to reset the SMC but all that seems to do is boot it in safe mode. I have also tried to reset the PRAM and again it doesn't work, doesn't restart the computer but instead opens OS X Utilities. I have been trying all of these methods for the past 5 hours and nothing is working at all. If anyone has any input or suggestions it is greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you have a few keys that aren't working correctly. It seems to me like you have done all the troubleshooting I would have. Next you should have the computer looked at, as it seems you may need a repair.

Keyboard cap locks stuck

I cleaned my iMac aluminum keyboard with a windex wipe and now the cap lock key is stuck on, backspace key does not work and "i" now comes out as "ssss" Help!

You may have damaged the keyboard if liquid got into the the electronics of the keyboard. As a general rule do NOT use any liquids on a keyboard or keeps glasses of liquids in their vicinity to prevent spills. You can try doing a SMC reset or remove the keyboard and put it in a bag of rice for a few days to help it dry out.
Going forward to clean your keyboard use alcohol wipes or a baby wipe.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
