-R illegal option,server fails to boot up

Hello Everyone,
"/app/ond34/sit/bin/YM3323.tuxsv" SRVGRP=YM3323 SRVID=1
MIN=1 MAX=1
CLOPT="-A -o /var/app/logs/ond34/sit/LYM3323/stdout -e /var/app/logs/ond34/sit/LYM3323/stderr -r -- -d vodp1 -v -s QSPACE -R"
ENVFILE="/app/ond34/sit/env/YM3323.env"
This statement gives an error in Tuxedo Release 10 while booting up.
But the below one does not.
"/app/ond34/sit/bin/YM3321.tuxsv" SRVGRP=YM3321 SRVID=1
MIN=1 MAX=2
CLOPT="-A -o /var/app/logs/ond34/sit/LYM3321/stdout -e /var/app/logs/ond34/sit/LYM3321/stderr -r -- -d vodp1 -v -s QSPACE"
ENVFILE="/app/ond34/sit/env/YM3321.env"
I know ablout the options -A,-o,-e,-r
What are these options -d,-v,-s and -R??
Can anyone pls explain this ?
FYI,
Both servers boots up properly in Tuxedo 8.
We are currently facing the problem while moving them to Tuxedo 10.
Regards,
Deb

The CLOPT parameters after the "--" are user defined arguments. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13161_01/tuxedo/docs10gr3/rf5/rf5.html#wp1003290
Also the server "/app/ond34/sit/bin/YM3323.tuxsv" looks like a user defined server. This looks like a custom TMQFORWARD server (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13161_01/tuxedo/docs10gr3/rf5/rf5.html#wp1026459) and the meaning of the CLOPT parameters "-- -d vodp1 -v -s QSPACE -R" would be in the source code for these servers.

  • JSL server fails to boot

    Hi group,
    I'm wondering if anybody has ever seen this error message
    before and what was the fix?
    230132.mcg1m3!JSL.22318: JOLT_CAT:1076: ERROR: Failed to
    create to shared memory for listener table, errno = 22
    230132.mcg1m3!JSL.22318: LIBTUX_CAT:250: ERROR: tpsvrinit()
    failed
    230132.mcg1m3!tmboot.22307: CMDTUX_CAT:825: ERROR: Process
    JSL at orm.arca.mcg1m3 failed with /T tperrno (TPEOS - operating
    system error)
    According to Uunix.h, errno=22 is a 'write system call' error.
    This is extremely weird problem -- I guess it has
    something to do with IPC, but unfortunately I cannot experiment
    with that box too much -- we have a production Tuxedo application
    running on the box.
    On the other hand, I compared the IPC resources configuration
    to another machine that has no problems running JSL and they
    look exactly the same. So, I am a little bit confused --
    maybe it's NOT an IPC problem...
    By the way, WSL behaves in exactly the same manner -- it fails
    to boot with the same error.
    Does anybody have any idea on what the problem could be?
    Really appreciate your help
    Andrei

    Joe,
    Thanks for your help.
    I wish it was that easy. The UBB config file has all the
    necessary entries for MAXACCESSERS and MAXWSCLIENTS and
    IPC resources on the machine are all crancked up to the
    max. So it is something more misterious than just UBB config.
    Anyway, thanks a lot for your input. I'm going to keep
    looking into it...

    Andrei,
    Have you a value set for MAXWSCLIENTS in your ubb config?
    RESOURCES Section and MACHINES Section
    The MAXWSCLIENTS parameter can be specified in the MACHINES section of
    the configuration
    file to apply to specific machines.
    MAXWSCLIENTS is the only parameter that has special significance for
    Workstation.
    If MAXWSCLIENTS is not specified, the default is 0.
    MAXWSCLIENTS
    The MAXWSCLIENTS parameter tells the BEA TUXEDO system, at boot time,
    how many
    accesser slots to reserve exclusively for workstation clients. For native
    clients,
    each accesser slot requires one semaphore. However, the Workstation handler
    process
    (executing on the native platform on behalf of workstation clients) multiplexes
    Workstation client accesses through a single accesser slot, and therefore
    requires
    only one semaphore.
    This points out an additional benefit of the Workstation extension. By
    putting
    more clients out on workstations and off the native platform, an application
    reduces
    its IPC resource requirements. To repeat, although MAXWSCLIENTS is optional,
    if
    not specified, the default is 0.
    MAXWSCLIENTS takes its specified number of accesser slots from the total
    set in
    MAXACCESSERS. This is important to remember when specifying MAXWSCLIENTS;
    enough
    slots must be left to accommodate native clients as well as servers.
    If you specify
    a value for MAXWSCLIENTS greater than MAXACCESSERS, native clients and
    servers
    will fail at tpinit() time.

  • Brand new Thinkstation D10 server fails to boot, no beeps or screen display

    This server had been working fine for several weeks and today I needed to reboot it. It has been rebooted several times before so so I wasn't trying something new.   I hit the Vista Start button and it immediately shut down.  I couldn't recall if Vista prompts you to Stand-by/restart/shutdown but I think it does - this time it didn't. :/   Afterwards, it would not boot.
    I tried:
    Unplugging and replugging it in: it then attempted to boot but shut itself down again after about 30s.
    a Power Supply Reset
    Reseating the memory cards
    Removing one of the 4GB memory cards
    Trying the other memory card
    Swapping the two memory cards
    Inserting a bootable disk (it never gets to the point of reading anything although the drive spins up)
    Checking that everything in the system board was plugged in
    Making sure none of the wires were hitting anything else (shorting out)
    When replacing that annoying cover from over the memory cards, made sure again I was not pinching any wires
    The server does not beep and the (directly connected) monitor never comes alive to display anything when I attempt to reboot.
    Per the docs, I observed the power supply Diagnostic LEDs and front panel Power LED while attempting to boot and only the green Diagnostic LED on the power supply is ever activated.  The table indicated this means replace the system board.
    Aack!
    Before I head for the support # and an eventual shipment back to Lenovo, would it be worth my while to try and replace the CMOS battery?  Or would a failure of that battery still have resulted in some indication of the problem (beeping and/or screen display)?  Can anyone think of something else to check?
    Just thought I'd ask around before assuming that I'm stuck with the system board diagnosis).
    Thanks

    The list of things that will make a computer power down on it's own before it can ever get into the OS or initiate a video feed is a short list.
    A CPU thermal trip usually occurs within 30 seconds.  This can be cause by a loose or improperly seated heat sink or a failure in the thermal grease coverage.  If your D10 arrived with one CPU and you recently installed a second CPU, try taking the second CPU out.  Should this work, verify the second CPU is the exact match to the first CPU and that the thermal grease is properly applied to the heat sink and the heat sink is securely mounted.
    Ambient temperature thermal trip usually takes longer, but can be significantly shorten if the air baffle for the memory is not installed.  Computers with high Front Side Bus frequencies result in memory DIMMS that get very hot.
    DC power trip.  This can happen if too much power is being drawn through any of the PCI ports or through the power supply itself.
    When you are using a highend video card, check to see if the video card has it's own power connector(a small six lead box).  If it does, there is a power connector, from the power supply, to plug into it.  Without that power plugged in, the video card may appear to hum, and the it will draw too much power through the PCI slot.
    Should you have added any additional PCI adapters, try removing these for a test. If that works, add one card back in at a time to isolate the offending PCI card.
    Disconnect any USB or Firewire devices you may have attached, including the mouse and keyboard.  If it comes back up and you have video, power down and reconnect the keyboard and mouse only and try again.
    If you have the memory card reader option and kids, check to make certain no one has inserted something into the memory card readers.  My kid inserted a quarter into one of the slots on my reader.  My workstation powered down pretty fast.   Consider moving the workstation to higher ground.
    Last by not least, disconnect any additional optical drives you may have added.  Some SATA devices have both the standard PC power connector and the SATA power connector.  Do not connect both of these power sources to the same drive.  The drive will be damaged and your computer will not stay powered on for very long.
    Should this all fail to resolve the issue, contact Lenovo support.  To make your support experience faster and more pleasurable, send them this list of things you tried.  If this list of possible fixes fails, it's probably a power supply or system board issue, and I would start with the power supply.
    If an electronic device has a defect it will fail within the first 90 days.  Once you get it past the first 90 days, it is generally good for years.
    I hope this helps!!!

  • Production database server fails to boot

    I Have a sparc 64 Solaris 10 Sun server T5220, which I had to reboot today due to power outage and ever since it has failed to start up. It gets as far as the banner and that's it. There is no ok prompt for the light out management thingy or shell prompt. I'm using a Linux terminal connected to the serial port to access the server.
    APart from a flashing green power light on the server front nothing else is happening. I believe it may be a San issue but have no way of knowing as I can' t access the Hitachi storage array web front end. I'm desperate for some advice and will be most gratefull for any pointers.

    As Yingkuan stated, this is not an Oracle related issue, but an OS issue. I suggest you to contact your OS administrator or your OS support services to solve this issue.
    If the memory bank got corrupted, then most probably this was due to a shortcut or a voltage peak that may have affected not only memory but also other hardware areas, which would most probably lead you to an unstable hardware. It is difficult to diagnose, it could be also that the memory banks were deffective from origin.

  • New Windows server 2003 Hyper-V guest fails to boot

    Hello,
    I'm currently doing some virtualization experiments on my new server hardware. The host hardware is:
    IBM x3650 M4
    x2 Xeon E5-2609
    32GB RAM
    x2 480 GB SSDs
    Server OS: Windows server 2012
    I'd like to test some legacy app virtualization. I've configured a VM and have installed Windows server 2003. The install is done via DVD. The issue at hand is that after the initial installation, the server fails to boot. The VM goes into a reboot loop
    and so far the only error logging I'm able to find is in the hosts event log.

    If its relevant, the host is not yet activated license wise. I downloaded the demo version so I could test my idea before making a purchase to go ahead with full implementation.
    As it stands right now I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this. Many searches on google have not turned up any helpful info. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    D

    Hi ,
    First , please refer to the supported guest OS of windows 2012 hyper-v :
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/hh831531.aspx
    2003/R2 should be with sp2 and max 2 virtual processors .
    "'LegacyTS' was reset because an unrecoverable error occurred on a virtual processor that caused a triple fault."
    If the issue is not due to the above items , you can try to check the "CPU compatibility " in that VM settings for troubleshooting:
     Hope it helps

  • Windows server 2008 R2 Failed to boot

    Hello,
    i need  help on the following issue:
    i have a win 2008 R2 server failing to boot with a blue screen containing:
    stop: c000021a {fatal system error}
    the verification of a knownDLL failed. system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x0000020 (0x005b0110 0x0000000000).
    the system has been shutdown.

    Hi,
    As far as I know, the STOP 0xC000021A error occurs when either Winlogon.exe or Csrss.exe fails. When the Windows NT kernel detects that either of these processes
    has stopped, it stops the system and raises the STOP 0xC000021A error. This error may have several causes. Among them are the following:
    Mismatched system files have been installed.
    A Service Pack installation has failed.
    A backup program that is used to restore a hard disk did not correctly restore files that may have been in use.
    An incompatible third-party program has been installed.
    Regarding this error and how to troubleshoot it, the following article can be referred to as reference.
    How to troubleshoot a "STOP 0xC000021A" error

  • Ovmapi_4004e server failed error while creating a PVM from  FTP network pat

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create a PVM on OVM 3.0.3 using an ftp server to use an ISO for a Linux 5 installation.
    In the create virtual machine wizard for the network path (in boot options) I am specifying:
    ftp://oracle:[email protected]/home/oracle/iso/OEL56/
    The above link opens up in a browser and I can see the mounted iso.
    I mounted the iso as:
    cd /home/oracle
    mkdir /iso/OEL56/
    mount -o ro,loop /ovm_iso/linux/Enterprise-R5-U6-Server-x86_64-dvd.iso /home/oracle/iso/OEL56/
    But Starting the VM fails with "ovmapi_4004e server failed" and "Boot loader didn't return any data". I'm assuming it can't read from the iso during boot.
    Is there anything wrong with the ftp path . Are non-anonymous ftp users (oracle in this case) allowed or do I need to use anonymous logon.
    Regards,
    Shahab.

    Hi ,
    I went a step further by using anyonymous ftp in the network path . (rather than user : password) and the VM started .
    The VM boots OK from the staged iso (also tried full DVD contents) and brings up linux installation in text mode only , but for ftp installation mode after asking for the ftp server and directory (which it doesn't take on first attempt) it gives an error "Unable to read package metadata . This may be due to a missing repository directory. Please ensure your install tree has been correctly generated" . It seems its not finding the ftp directory path , although initially it was able to boot from the same ftp path specified in the Network path of the VM configuration wizard.
    Regards,
    Shahab.

  • IBook G4 fails to boot with internal HD installed, works when removed

    The short version: My iBook started failing to boot via any method (gray screen) and the boot menu (Option during startup) would freeze. Replaced HD, things were better. Six months into new HD, nearly the same symptoms appear again. Removed HD, now running off different HD via FireWire.
    The long version–
    Back in late 2008-12, my iBook started failing to boot up. Usually it would refuse to boot from any source. Booting the internal disk (10.4.11) would get to a gray screen without any logo and stay there. Holding down Option, the boot menu would come up, but it would usually freeze before it displayed any volumes. Booting from CD (AHT, or OS install disc) would fail in nearly the same way as booting from the internal drive. Target Disk Mode would start, but once the other machine tried to access the drive, the FireWire logo would stop moving and the drive would never show up on the other computer. Very rarely, the machine would get a bit further through one of the boot mechanisms, but it usually froze while booting or just after login.
    This machine has gone through three logic boards in the past, so I suspected that was the problem again. I took it to a local Genius Bar and the Genius explained that it was probably the hard drive. He said that sometimes, depending on the way the drive fails, it can "take out" other parts of the system due to drawing too much current, etc.
    I was a bit skeptical, but it was going to be much cheaper to replace the HD myself than it would be to send it in for a MLB replacement. So I ordered a new HD (80G) and a USB-to-ATA/SATA adapter. I hoped that I would be able to use the adapter to savlage a bit more data off the drive (it originally failed right before a backup!).
    After extracting the HD (40G), I connected it to the USB adapter and was able to access the drive just fine. I used another machine to run another backup from the recently removed HD (40G) to one of my FireWire backup drives and proceeded to put the iBook back together with the new HD (80G).
    Once it was all back together, the new HD worked fine. I was able to restore the recent backup from my FireWire drive to the internal, and it worked fine. The only oddity I noticed was that the new drive was apparently trying to sleep several times a minute. I used smartctl (installed via MacPorts) to adjust the power management setting on the drive, and that seemed to help. I also started running smartd (also via MacPorts) to better monitor the new drive.
    Recently, a bit more than six months after the new HD was installed, the new HD started showing errors in the system.log. I never found any errors in the logs after the previous HD failed (even though I could look through the logs just fine with the drive attached through the ATA-USB adapter).

    I did not notice the errors until the afternoon of the 7th when the problem became evident. The events around 13:00 happened when I was trying to run a backup. The first backup failed in an odd way (when I came back to check on it later that evening, SuperDuper! seemed to have quit running). So I restarted the backup and started looking around in the logs. That is when I noticed the kernel I/O error messages. When I asked smartctl to query the drive, it showed that many errors had been occurring and it displayed the drive's log of the last five or so errors (alas, I did not save this output). Meanwhile the re-run of SuperDuper! was having problems again. It seemed to have hung (no SDAgent or SDCopy processes were running, but the main UI was still there). Since the backup was not getting anywhere, I decided to shutdown for a while and try again later.
    When I did try again later, I was back in the situation of six months ago. It would not boot at all (no internal, no FireWire, no CD/DVD, boot menu hangs, Target Disk Mode hangs). So, I opened up the system, removed the HD and put it back together without an internal HD. The machine is now able to boot and run from FireWire. Again, the (6 month old, 80G) HD "works fine" via the USB adapter. If SMART were available through the USB adapter, I could check to see if the drive is continuing to have problems. I used SuperDuper! to copy the HD to a volume on my FireWire drive which is how I an now running the system.
    Has anyone had any similar problems? Any idea why my iBook seems to be killing/rejecting hard drives? (I say killing because, while the drive is connected internally, it certainly seems to be dying. I say rejecting because once the drive is out of the system, both the drive and the system seem to "recover".) I have read messages there where others report success having their iBook MLB resoldered ("reball"). Has anyone experienced substantially similar issues that were solved with a resolder repair?
    Thanks!

    I was able to test my “failing” ATA drives in a G4 Mac mini (I had to take the mini apart because its drive had finally failed). I was able to successfully boot the Mac mini with either of my iBook drives installed. Once booted, +Disk Utility+ said that each one's SMART Status was Verified. I used smartctl to pull the full SMART info while I had them installed in the Mac mini.
    Since the drives were still “good”, I think this emphasizes that the problem is with the ATA interface on my iBook's logic board. Maybe it is broken, or maybe it just needs to be resoldered. For now I am happy just booting off an external Firewire drive.
    BTW, I ended up installing the 6 month old 80G drive in the mini. It has been working OK for 10 days now. As long as it continues to operate normally in the mini, it will serve as evidence that my iBook's HD ATA controller is borked. I just hope the ATA controller is more capable of accepting its fallibility than was HAL.
    There is a minor problem with the 80G in the mini in that I am unable to use hdapm to change the aggressive head unloading that the drive suffers. I was able to adjust it with hdapm while it was in my iBook. I am able to adjust it with hdparm under Linux on the mini. Luckily the change I made while booted in Linux "sticks" after rebooting back into Mac OS X (I hear it will be lost if the drive is completely powered off though).

    When you have a oracle server running on the same physical machine, why do you need client to support your needs?
    As you said, your oracle client installation might be an error, u can always point BIN on app server to your server installation and start the server.That was true up to Oracle 11.1 because the 32bit librairies were shipped in ORACLE_HOME even if that one was a 64bit installation.
    It has been dramatically changed within Oracle 11.2 though. The 32bit libraries are not coming anymore within the Oracle 11.2 64bit, you have to explicitely install a 11.2 32bit client to make it work with Peoplesoft on Windows. And configure your Peoplesoft installation to work within that 32bit client.
    Consequently, if you have all together installed on the same server (Oracle database 11.2 64bit and Peoplesoft), you must have two Oracle homes : one for the 64bit database, one for the 32bit client.

    You've got a problem with a corrupted config.xml file.
    Since you did not make any changes you can copy the config.xml.booted file over the corrupted config.xml.
    The other option is to walk though the config.xml file and look for the problem...

    If i manually check the time,its synchronized.
    Also the result was successful here. But why it shows PRVF errors.
    Could you suggest.
    Thanks,
    Abdur Raoof

    PRVF-05410: Check of common NTP Time Server failed
    Cause: The NTP query command showed there is no common time server among all of the nodes in the cluster.
    Action: At least one common NTP Time Server is required for a successful Clock Synchronization check. Reconfigure all of the nodes in the cluster to synchronize with at least one common NTP Time Server. If you plan to use CTSS for time synchronization then NTP configuration should be uninstalled on all nodes of the cluster. Refer to "Preparing Your Cluster" of "Oracle Database 2 Day+ Real Application Clusters Guide".

  • OVMAPI_4004E Server Failed Command:- NFS repo VM starting issue

    Hi
    I have setup a POC environment on OVM 3.1.1 with two OVS servers mapped to a cluster and one OVM server managing these servers . I have mapped a 600GB iscsi LUN as well as a 300GB NFS mount on both the OVS servers.
    I created 2 VM's with the iscsi LUN mapped as the storage repo and VM's seem to be working fine
    The issue that I am facing is with one of VM's on the NFS mount. I created a VM ( win2k3nfs01) on one of the servers (englabbld10) and mapped the NFS mount as the storage repository. The issue that I am facing is that I am not able to start the VM on the server englabbld10 I get the error which I have mentioned below, but if I migrate the VM to the other server englabbld09 I am able to start the VM. I am enclosing the error details of englabbld10.
    The VM’s with iscsi repository work perfectly fine in englabbld10, I can migrate start stop the same.
    I have cross validated the nfs permission, DNS records etc. Everything seems to be just fine.
    Please help in resolve the same

  • Tuxedo 3139 error - Secondary Event server failed!!

    Hi all,
    we're havin a msater/slave Tuxedo configuration. When we booted the servers, we're getting the error repeatedly in the slave logs:
    3139
    ERROR: Secondary Event Server failed to get a new copy of subscription database from the Primary, errstr=TPENOENT NOT FOUND
    Could anyoone please explain why its happening??

    Atheek,
    The CMDTUX_CAT:3139 message is logged when TMSYSEVT cannot find a server
    offering the ..TMSYSMIB service or when TMUSREVT cannot find a server
    offering the ..TMUSRMIB service. These services are usually offered by the
    primary event broker.
    This message might occur if the application specifies all event broker
    servers as secondary. (One of the event brokers should be started without
    the -- -S option, and that server will be the primary event broker.) The
    message also might occur if the primary event broker dies and is not marked
    as restartable.
    You can observe which servers if any offer the ..TMSYSMIB and/or ..TMUSRMIB
    services by invoking tmadmin and giving the "psc -a 2" command. (The "-a 2"
    option will cause the command to include service names that start with a "."
    or with a "..".)

  • Cannot send email via AOL on iPad2 - "A copy has been placed in your Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed."

    My CEO has an ipad2 and I set it up w/ AOL.  She cannot send any email via her AOL account from her iPad.  She gets a message that says "A copy has been placed in your Outbox. Sending the message content to the server failed."   We've tried it on wifi and on 3G (Verizon version).  I've removed the account and added it, I've tried setting it up as an IMAP account vs. using Apples standard AOL mail setting and nothing seems to work.  The SMTP settings are smtp.aol.com, port 587.  I've tried adding an alternate server/smtp, but I haven't been able to find anything that works.  Any advice or other people having this issue?  It works fine sending an email from her aol web mail.  And unfortunately, having her sign up for a gmail account is not an option.  Thanks

    Interesting.  Firstly I have been on AOL since the early 90s with no current intention to switch as my primary personal email account.
    I have two email accounts on my iphone - AOL and my email from my business website.  I deleted both and then recreated first the business account and then the AOL account.  Same error.  Then I wasn't sure what you suggested but I turned off the AOL SMTP server and selected the business email SMTP server by turning it on with the same result.  I still get the error "A Copy has been placed in your Outbox.  Sending the mssage content to the server failed."
    Perhaps this problem will get fixed by IOS 6.   AOL will not talk to me unless I pay and Apple says its not their problem.  So for the time being I use the AOL web interface in the iPhone's Safari to send emails from the phone.

  • App Server Fails to Start after Installation

    Hi,
    I've spent a whole day struggling with this, looking through forum discussions and trying out every single suggestion I've come across in the forums. I'm running out of ideas now and really appreciate any help I can get with this problem.
    I'm trying to install SJSC2 (also tried with SJSC2u1 with the same outcome) on a new HP notebook (nw9440) running WinXP_sp2. I'm using the default installation done by HP.
    My installation path is C:\Java\SunCreator2 (C:\Java\SunCreator2_1 for update 1).
    After the installation the App server fails to start up and gives the below error in the server.log.
    # An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:

    I've tried every workaround I've seen in the forums such as installing under different paths (both with spaces and without spaces), cleaning all the temporary files in the Temp directory, renaming the productregistry in the windows system directory. Each time I get the exact same error in the install.log.
    I also tried installing the stand alone SUN App Server 8.1_02_2005Q2 as well as 8.2. I don't seem to have any issue with this installation or running of the stand alone server at all on the same machine.
    Really appreciate any help I can get. TIA....

    Hi,
    After spending more time looking through the forum, I came across the below thread which has worked in my case (though it was suggested for Sol10x86).
    http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=62404&messageID=243113
    This is the workaround that worked in my case.
    > $ cd <Creator_Home>/SunAppServer8/lib
    $ mv processLauncher.xml processLauncher.xml.trayIcon
    $ cp processLauncher.xml.bak processLauncher.xml
    # If you have a domains/creator/config/domain.xml
    $ cd ../bin
    $ ./asadmin start-domain creator
    This started the app server. After that I was able to start and stop app server within the JSC as well.
    Only difference between these two xml files seem to be,
    processLauncher.xml.trayicon
    <main_class classname="com.sun.rave.tray.RavePEMain"/>
    processLauncher.xml
    <main_class classname="com.sun.enterprise.server.PEMain"/>
    Possibly pointing to a bug in the "com.sun.rave.tray.RavePEMain" class.
    Thanks for your suggestions guys... and especially to Marco and Greg.
    Rgds,
