R&R 4.5 - file cannot be backed up because it is either in use or corrupted
Hi there,
I've updated to R&R 4.5 on win 7 home premium and I constantly get the error of "R&R is unable to back the file .... because it is either in use by another application or corrupted". I have 3 options to choose from "Retry", "Skip" and "cancel". there's no open application. computer is just rebooted. this is the first back up on R&R 4.5 on an external USB drive, which is just formatted and empty with 150GB. My thinkpad hard is 160GB with 59GB of free space.
When I select "Retry" the file is being backed up instantly but will hit another one constantly, so frustrating.
noteworthy, R&R 4.3 was working just fine before.
any help is much appreciated.
tnx

I've never seen this other than with AV software. What AV software are you using? Sometimes even when it is "disabled" it really isn't. Don't struggle too much with it though... if R&R isn't working for you try something else. Windows backup & restore is pretty good too.

Did you read what Demo wrote? He wasn't saying he had a problem. He was responding to the OP who had a problem, and was providing a solution. Follow what Demo said to do....

You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it. -
I have plenty of space on my hard drive (500GB), but when I plug in my iPhone there is a window stating the pone cannot be backed up because of lack of disk space. The same occurs with attempting to import CD's into iTunes. The hard disk was replaced recently in order to gain extra memory. Is there some sort of limit set up from the original hard drive causing this problem?
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
If Disk First aid is unable to complete the repair you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer.

The following message appears when I try to turn on the iPad..."Not enough storage..this iPad cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available. You can manage your storage in settings." When I tap Close or Settings nothing happens
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I keep getting an error message that reads: Not enough storage This iphone cannot be backed up because there is not enough icloud storage available. What does this mean? How do I fix it?
Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: go to Settings - iCloud - Storage and backup - turn off the iCloud backup
and backup with iTunes from now on
More info on backing up: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
Or, if you prefer to keep backing up with iCloud, check out this article, it will help you understand how to manage the iCloud storage:

Hold Sleep and Home buttons until the iPad restarts, so the message won't appear after restarting it -
We are novice users of an Ipad. Have recently taken many video clips at a wedding. Ipad now displays message "Not enough storage this Ipad cannot be backed up because there is not enough Icloud storage available etc" Neither option "close" or "settings" will respond and the screen quickly goes blank. Any help would be welcome. Bob.
A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. Release both buttons and await restart.

Why am I being told that my iPad cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available when I have 18.1GB of storage available in my iCloud account?
You shouldn't be, but you would have to contact Apple support to find out what the issue is: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/. If you are outside of your free support window there would normally be a charge for the call but under the circumstances you could plead your case that you should not be charged.

i have a message that says "not enough storage space this ipad cannot be backed up because there is not enough cloud storage. The message will not close so I cannot use the ipad.
Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
