R/w Quicktime on Win7-64 bit with 64-bit Premiere and AE?

Does CS5 running in 64 bit (not using 32 bit CS4 version) on Win7-64 have the ability to read and write Quicktime files?
Is this for both CS5 64 bit Premiere and AE?
Does it work well?
Thanks!

ProRes decoding--that is, playback--is supported and available on Windows (all platforms). However, encoding to ProRes is not possible; this is not an Adobe limitation, but rather, an Apple limitation, as there is no ProRes encoder included or available for Windows. Any ProRes file that I've tried--SD or HD--has been usable in Premiere on Windows. I haven't tried the 4444 variety, but if the decoder is available, it'll playback. ProRes 422 HQ should be no problem, though.
Here's a screenshot of a ProRes 422 HQ clip successfully loaded into the Windows version of Premiere Pro CS5:

  • Round trip workflow with proxies between Premiere and AE / a more general question about how these programs work?

    Hi all,
I'm new to editing with proxies in Premiere and have some questions about how to handle the relationship with After Effects. Say I have a rough cut (with proxies) and I want to send it to AE to do some effects. The simplest thing to do seems to be to replace the proxies with the originals in Premiere, send the project to AE and do my thing. But if I then want to send the project back to Premiere, it will involve the original files, which are too machine-intensive for me to edit. In theory, it seems like there should be a way to send the project with original footage to AE, do effects, send it back to Premiere, and then replace it with proxies to do further editing while retaining the effects.
This leads to a confusion about how AE works. When I do an effect, am I correct in assuming that it does nothing to the original file? If that's the case, it seems like it shouldn't matter (in the editing stage) what file AE "applies" an effect to (proxy or original). But I feel like there's a hitch in this workflow. The same question could also be asked about going back and forth in Speed Grade.
Perhaps there is no real answer to this and the best option is to save effects and grading for after I have picture lock, but sometimes that's not entirely possible or convenient, etc.
Hopefully this makes some sense—It's a little hard to explain.
    Thanks.

  • Running 9.0.1 Firefox. I get a msg from AVG that Firefox is using too much memory and then the computer (not just Firefox) shuts off. Running Win7 (64-bit) with 4 GB Mem and Intel i-5. Only 4-5 "normal" windows are open at the time this happens.

Right now Task manager Performance tab on Memory says: Total 3958; Cached mem 1588; Avail 2239; Free 722; Physical Mem 43% and this window is the only thing open. Kernel mem (MB) says Paged 179 and Nonpaged 80.
I can get you more info if you tell me what you need (and where to find it - I am 60 y.o. woman and this is not my forte :=)
    Thanks,

If you want to reduce memory(60%) '''when firefox minimize[only in windows os] '''there is an easy old good trick:
type in the address bar '''about:config'''
then press the button '''i'll be careful i promise'''
then '''right-click''' anywhere in the list of preferences and choose '''new''' > '''boolean'''
then type in the open window '''config.trim_on_minimize'''
then click''' OK''', and in the next window select '''TRUE''' and click '''OK'''.
    exit firefox and restart-it.
    '''works only in windows os'''

  • Windows 2008 r2 64 bit with 64 bit CF 8 - ODBC drivers missing excel

We installed a 64 bit CF8 enterprise server on our 2008 r2 64 bit system and we can't seem to figure out the ODBC problems. Most of the solutions we find online seem to apply to 32 bit versions of CF (on 64 bit 2008) - not x64 on x64 2008.
We've already used the ODBC utility (here to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe) to create our ODBC ... since that utility displayed the drivers we needed. Once those were setup, we tried importing this registry branch
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC
    into this one
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC
to try to get things to be recognized. No dice.
Is there a 64 bit version of the Excel driver? If not - Or is there a way to get the 32 bit version of the Excel driver to work? If there's a way for us to use the 32 bit version of these drivers, we would really want to know what it is :-) We have some text drivers we'd also like to use (*.txt, *.csv)
We can provide screenshots as necessary.
    Thanks much.

  • Itunes Crashes when importing Music File or Folder on Windows 7 64-Bit with Itune 10.5 and update ios 5

Itunes crashes when importing Music File or Folder ever since i updated it yesterday

You can try downloading 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and unpack the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file into its components then try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). You may get a more useful error message as to which component has problems.

    Why?

Not on a 32 bit computer, no.
You need a 64 bit processor and operating system to run Premiere Pro and After Effects.

  • Issue with 64 bit MS Office and Conversion to OPM 10.4

Just updated to OPM 10.4 and tried opening an existing project. It seemed to convert fine, but when I tried to open the Word file, and it opens Visual Basic with the following error:
    Compile error
The code in this project must be updated for use on 64-bit systems. Please review and update Declare statements and then mark them with the PtrSafe attribute.
I am not a programmer, so I have no idea what this means. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi Kristen,
I’m guessing this is specific to Microsoft Office 2010 64-bit. I’ve been using Microsoft Office 2007 32-bit with OPA 10.4 and I haven’t seen anything like this. I don't know the cause here, but just wanted to collect some more information which I'm antipating the product team may want to know...
    - Operating system of your machine? (I'm assuming Windows 7?)
    - What happens if you try to compile the rule doc from OPM rather than from within the Word doc itelf (right-click on the rule doc in OPM, select 'Compile' from the context menu)? Does it compile okay? If not, what happens?
    - What happens if you create a brand new project in OPM 10.4? Does it work? Or do you get errors when opening the Word docs?
    Cheers,
    Jasmine

  • Flash Player 11 64-bit for Windows with 32-bit Debugger Keeps Crashing

    Hi,
I have been battling with this crashes since Flash Player 11 came out. I have a 64-bit Windows machine and installed Flash Player 11+ 64-bit with 32-bit debugger. Every time a run my application it crashes. Even YouTube crashes also. If I don't install the debugger everything works fine (but then I can't debug my application). I tested it in Firefox, Chrome and IE and all of them crash.
I am contented with FP 10.+ for now (until Adobe come up with a solution)  because it works for me including the debugger but I have an issue with my application that only occurs in Flash Player 11.
If anyone else knows a fix or how to get around this, please share. Thanks so much.

i have the same problem and also the uninstaller tells there is an error but no information is available.

  • Does pm7 work with 64 bit Win7 OS?

Hi. Several participants in this forum indicated that pagemaker 7.0 works fine in Windows7, but then specified that they have the 32 bit version. Unfortunately, my new laptop came with a 64 bit version of Win 7, Home Premium,  and the Intel processor (Celeron 900) will not allow me to create a virtual XP mode, even if I upgrade to the Professional or Ultimate version. Before I upgrade my current version of Pagemaker 6.0 (yes, I know it's an antique) to PM 7.0, I would like to know if it will run on my 64 bit Win 7 machine. Thanks. Bob

Since I don't have access to Home Premium I cannot troubleshoot it for you.  There is a wikipedia article on PageMaker on the US English wikipedia site that mentions compatibility.  I think there is also a compatibility agent for Windows 7 that you can install and run on your computer to see if you can run the applications that you currently have or if you need to upgrade.  The agent is called Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.
Per Bob's most recent post I guess it only worked in my situation so I cannot give you an authoritative response as to why it does work on my machine.  I would contact Microsoft and Adobe both via email or Microsoft's forums to see if you can find a Microsoft MVP who might know more than I do in terms of installation and runtime issues.
I will say that the difference between Win 7 Ultimate and Win 7 Home Premium has to do with security (BitLocker protection) and the fact that Ultimate (and Professional) can run Windows XP mode which is an XP virtual machine--that runs older programs that run in XP--similar to the way that you can run Windows in a Mac OS X environment through VMWare.  If you truly wish to use Windows 7 and your computer's BIOS and Processor set support the Microsoft Virtual PC which is what XP Mode runs on then upgrade your Windows 7 so that you can be sure to be able to run PageMaker-------IF you can't upgrade to InDesign, which is the most desired result rather than using PageMaker at all.
EDIT::  I just saw your original post again and saw that you can not run XP mode.  But you CAN run VMWare which will allow you to install VMWare for the PC and then a licensed retail copy of Windows XP.  So you can still use Windows XP--BIOS and hardware don't make a difference in this case.   But you will have to find a NEW copy of XP SP 2 (upgradeable to SP3 via Microsoft/Windows Update) and you will have to purchase a license of VMWare.

  • How do I install Elements for Windows 7 PC with 64 bit? Get error message - file archive part missing

We purchased Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 on September 7, 2014 and have tried a variety of things including searching through FAQs on the Adobe site, etc. etc. and cannot get our downloads to work. We are avid computer users and have never had problems downloading software before.
From our account under "orders" - I have tried clicking on the Akamai download manager and the Alternate Download Method on for each application with the same results.
We have a Windows 7 PC with a 64 bit operating system and Internet Explorer 11.
On all attempts we get an Adobe screen with 2 links – 1 for a file ending in .7z and a 2nd file ending in .exe.
I click on the first file and confirm the download completes at 100% (not paused, etc.) and is in the downloads folder for my user name on the PC.
I click on the 2nd link for .exe and I receive the error message below – 2nd screen shot – “file archive is missing” all folders/files must be in same folder.
So I see it’s a winzip file (as a winzip pop up folder had come up also) so I download the free version and unzip the files in the same downloads folder under my user name to try that.
I click on .exe file link again and same message. I tried copying the files directly to the downloads folder (as they all unzipped into a subfolder called PSE 12 and tried clicking on .exe again but get the same message.
For Premiere I tried the same and got same results on the 64 bit version download.
I do not know how to access the software we purchased.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
Also - if anyone knows how I can contact Adobe for a full refund so I can just buy the boxed software instead - that would be helpful as well as that is not easy to find online either.
    Thanks!
    Ariel

I get an error message saying that the quicktime installer will only work on 32 bit
The QuickTime player works on 64-bit systems. (It's a 32-bit application, but it should run fine using the standard 32-bit-on-64-bit Windows-on-Windows emulation.)
What's the precise text of your installation error message, dc? (There one or two different ones I can think of that might mention 32-bit)

  • User Account Control Problems with Premier Elements 7 32 bit in 64 Bit Windows 7

I found User Account Control Problems in other forums but didn't see much in Premiere Elements, so I hope this helps others who may be having problems with 32 bit programs in a 64 bit computor. When I first got my 64 bit I didn't have problems.
Back in February I bought a Quad Core Desktop with Windows 7 64 bit. Haven't been on the forum for 7 months since I wrote in regarding importing video with the Pyro AV Link (Premiere Elements Tips and Tricks). I was having problems importing video which started after March 28 sometime, as that was the last time I didn't have a problem importing VHS. Took me a few months off and on to find out what worked.
I started uninstalling Windows updates and any programs I had installed back to that point in time. Checked after uninstalling each item. The capture screen would come up on a delayed basis but clicking on capture did nothing. Although no driver is required for IE1394 (so they say) I read where some people using the Legacy driver had fixed some problems, so I switched to the Legacy. Seemed to work great (for a few minutes).
I had even uninstalled and reinstalled PE7 but no difference. Finally I noticed a shield in the PE7 Desktop icon. Thats weird. Never had that before. Just decided to show up after I had done all of the stuff I mentioned. Turns out at some point in time since I've had the computor Windows 7 decided to flag my 32 bit program as misusing the 64 bit system. User Account Control. I never bothered too much with UAC and just clicked on the yes box wen it popped up asking if I wanted this or that to take control of my computor. I tried using the minimum setting for safety reasons, and then finally turned User Account Control off. Bingo! PE7 capture works again and still working.
While I am not recommending that people arbitrarily turn UAC off, this appeared to be my problem. I would recommed that they try turning it off before uninstallin a bunch of stuff. Having a restore point may or may not have been a fix for me. I think one of the Windows Updates caused the problem but I am not going to uninstall any more stuff at this point, I have not been back on the internet or installed any more updates in my desktop. I am going to use my laptop for internet and used the desktop for video.
I am guessing this could be a problem for any 64 bit systems trying to use 32 bit programs. IE: XP,Vista,Windows 7 64 bit. In Vista there is also Data Execution Prevention (DEP) which you can turn on or off, supposedly to prevent misuse of memory (as I understand it), but Win7 either doesn't have it or I haven't found where it's located.
Maybe this has been covered in the forum somewhere and I missed reading it. Hope I am not too confusing. Anyway, whatever feedback you guys have would be great.

    John,
Thanks for your answer, and I did check out the link you suggested. However, I have Windows 7 Home Premium as most people have I think, and the XP program was not available. I started with Vista and now have Win 7. I never could navigate around in XP anyway so am content to just leave User Account Control off.
Interesting side note to turning UAC off is that my desktop seemed to be using more of the CPUs, where half of them were "Parked" as I wrote in also about 7 months ago when I 1st got my desktop. I am pleased to say that video processing seems to go quicker with UAC off. Have to observe things some more to confirm.
I just thought if others were having problems after installing Windows Updates and leaving UAC off worked then they could possibly pinpoint a problem.

  • Can I switch from Win7 32-bit to 64-bit by clean installing from hidden recovery partition?

    Hi all,
    I'm posting from Australia.
Two weeks ago I purchased a new Toshiba laptop (http://tinyurl.com/ye6jkuq) with the following specifications:
    Model: Satellite L550
    Part number: PSLW8A-01101F
    BIOS:  V1.60
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU  P7450  @ 2.13GHz
    RAM: 4GB
    HDD: 500GB
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit (pre-installed)
    My question is this:
If I use the HDD Recovery Utility (the hidden recovery partition) to do a clean re-install of Win7 Pro, will I be given the choice during the re-installation process of installing either the 32-bit or 64-bit version? Or will I not get the choice and simply be restricted to the 32-bit version that came pre-installed?
Any assistance or advice would be appreciated.
    Nick

    Satellite L550/011
I can't say for certain, Nick, but it would be a real surprise if Toshiba packaged the restore procedure so that you have a choice of versions.
If it matters, you should inquire at local Sales Support.
