R11 versus R12.2

I'm working for a company that has just been through a merger and they are planning on moving all of the data from the PeopleSoft FSCM applications from one of the companies onto Oracle EBS R11 that the other company runs. We may end up upgrading to R12.2 (once available) first though as this would give us a longer support life once live.
I've seen the R11 toolset we are running now and please don't take offense to this but I am really not impressed. PeopleSoft's toolset is decades ahead of R11 in technology, even though PeopleTools are getting dated themselves. Probably a better comparison to PeopleTools would be jDeveloper.
So my question is, would the R12.2 release be purely jDeveloper or is R12.2 a mix of the older Oracle forms with very little jDeveloper, like I see in R11?

Hi,
the place i worked have boht R11 & R12 intances, i need to move some clients (shared service cnetre) from r11 to r12. In terms fo data i.e. AP, AR & GL. i need to find a quick way around.
My concern is
1) should i just move the Open POs if yes /no then y
2) how about customers and suppliers
3)Open & closed invoices (AR)
used to do balance tranfer, but there are some complications and is time consuming as well. Please share your thoughts and experience on above and if possible a step by step process that you know or have used

1) Identify the data source used
2) Use transaction RSA3 in BW and R/3 for this datasource.
3) Try to test data for a month say May 2007
4) If it is the same, may be you are not using proper selection conditions in the Infopackage.
If it helps even a bit, do allocate *points

Can some one please tell me …. How to calculate required Memory and No. of Processors for Oracle EBS R11 and R12.
For example we have 50 Concurrent users and 100 named (i.e. the users which are doing only Data entry.), so how to How to calculate required Memory and No. of Processors

JavaConcurrentProgram class - R11 vs R12

Hi all
Are there any changes in the JCP classes from R11 to R12? Or can anyone point me to a document somewhere to read? Metalink only seems to have a couple of examples on how to use it which are great, but there doesn't seem to be much on the different versions of the class.

Is it possible to use the same OSSO/OID for multiple R11 and R12 instances?

Hello guru's,
We have multiple R11and R12 instances that should be configured for Oracle SSO 10.1.4.3. For OID, we are still trying to decide between OID 10.1.4.3, or OID 11g. OAM is not an option because we also also need OSSO integration with Siteminder. We will also need to SSO-enable Discoverer an Forms.
I have successfully configured SSO for a single-instance EBS R12, but not for multiple instances, let alone include R11 and other components into the mix.
Do you have any special tips, guidance or lessons learned when SSO-enabling multiple instances into the same SSO/OID?

Interestingly, the article talks about using the same SSO/OID for EBS, JD Edwards, Peoplesoft multiple R11 instances, but did not mention 'multiple EBS versions'. Am I just being picky or there was a reason for it not being mentioned?In Steven Chan blog (in the same link), see the following:

Banks Migration from R11 to R12

Hi everyone,
We want to migrate all bank information into R12, could anyone please let me know how this can be achieved?
I have some information as follows:
a) ce_bank_pub.create_bank --- To create Bank in R12
b) ce_bank_pub.create_bank_branch --- To create Bank Branch in R12
c) iby_ext_bankacct_pub.create_ext_bank_acct -- To create account in R12
Is this correct or any other interface is available? And also want to know how the extraction can be done. I mean in R11, Bank information is maintained in 3different places, so how could I consolidate this info and create one?
Please help me on this .. any documents or material.....

Intercompany - upgrade R11 to R12

Hello,
I use Oebs 11.5.10. I have simple inter company set-up( Oracle Inventory User’s Guide - intercompany Invoicing). I do not use GIS. Now I am preparing to upgrade to 12i. That I have question. Do I have to set-up AGIS to use my present functionality?

Error in a transaction in R12 upgrade

Hi All,
We are migrating from R11 to R12.I'm getting the following error in one of our custom buit transaction:
Error:
You are trying to access a page that is no longer active.
- The referring page may have come from a previous session. Please select Home to proceed.
The page is initially loaded properly on typing the SSO and tabbing out(lov event) other links and buttons are displayed according and then on any event of the page i'm getting the above error.
The same code is working fine the R12 development instance but giving the error as mentioned above in the stage.
Please help me in finding the reason for the above error its very urgent as we are upgrading over this weekend and if this may happen in the production.

You are saying that page is loading properly. Then if you do some event, it is giving the aforesaid error. First check if there is any other message that is being displayed. Then check if you were navigating out of the page on the event. If that is not the case then check if the setMaxFetchSize is done for all the VOs before insert/query.

I'm running E-Business Suite (Oracle Financials AR, AP and GL modules only) r12.1.1 on AIX 6.1. I clean install r12.1.1 from rapidwiz. I'm running one Apps tier and one database tier.
Now I perform the upgrade to r12.1.2, and I plan the route to be:

I also experience this when I run:
opatch lsinventory
Please help to solve this problem. Is it also OUI problem? I have tried to upgrade opatch version, and it still cannot solve the problem.
I once tried patch 9216848, it makes the opatch work, but later when I finished installing this patch, I cannot see the forms as it says "magic number problem". Also the adworker always hangs when I do upgrade on R12.1.2 Patch 7303033. So I dun think it is a solution.

BTW, I'd like to ask where's my Database Initialiation File? I find init.ora and init<SID>.ora in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs in DB Tier, but I cannot find the lines -- pgamax_size. Which file I should edit and what things should I add / remove /edit?
pgamax_size is a hidden parameter (why you need to set this one?).

I want to set the Database Initialiation File because in Database Preparation Guidelines (ID: 761570.1), it says that:
1. Before performing any Applications upgrade or maintenance operations, customers must add the following to the database intialization file to disable fast validation for PL/SQL recompilations:
disablefast_validate=TRUE
The line should be commented out during the normal operation of the Applications system.
2. Customers using Oracle iRecruitment on Oracle Database 11gR1 must add the following line to their database initialization file::
event="31151 trace name context forever, level 0x100"
Setting this event provides a fix for the issue reported in bug 6952870.
3. If you encounter the error:
ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 822904 bytes (pga heap, kco buffer)
ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [dbgtfdFileWrite()+48]
set the pgamax_size initialization parameter to a larger value as follows: pgamax_size=104857600
and restart your database.
I wonder where I can modify these three parameters (which file to edit, and whether it is append / delete / modify values). Or I do not need to do these three points, or even I do not need to go through Database Preparation Guidelines (ID: 761570.1) because my database is 10.3.4 already?

Dear All,
We are upgrading R11 to R12.1.3. Now the main upgrade driver for american and NLS
completed. now we need to upgrade to R12.1.3 , can I upgrade to 12.1.3 and configure
server process (Configure and start server processes (required)) or shall I do it
now after upgrade to 12..1 ?
Please advise

You should run Rapid Install to configure and start the application processes directly after 12.1.1 upgrade and before starting 12.1.3 upgrade -- http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18727_01/doc.121/e16342/T527285T527419.htm#T527422
Once you complete all the steps in the 12.1.1 upgrade manual you can proceed with 12.1.3 upgrade.
