R12 Multinode configuration

Hello Friends,
We are having 2 node 11g RAC for R12 database & 2 node shared application file system for apps tier now we are having problem when deploying h/w load balancer ahead of apps server pool , so I want to know If I not use load balancer & make one of apps server as single web entry point can processing capacity of other server also be used for concurrent processing, reports processing & forms services, means if I implement PCP & start all services on both nodes then will client request will be load balanced or not.

I am planning to create vritual machine in Apps Node 1.
for this Do I need a seperate loadbalancer or can I use the same load balancer used for internal Application servers?
What all configuration changes I should suggest to out network team for this DMZ configuration?

  • How to install Muti_node R12 using VMWARE

    Hi,
Any one have experience on R12 with Linux installing multi node using vmware ,Please let me know, i know single node installation on VMWARE WORK STATION,
    Thanks

I got this multi node installation procedure from blog,
    http://skrajend.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
    R12 MultiNode Installation with VMWare
Have only one node , don't worry still you can have enjoy R12 MultiNode Installation with VMWare.
I will share my experience here with all on how to setup R12 in a single node first and then add another Middle Tier.
Setup Requirement : Node with atleast 1 GB of Ram and 80GB of HardDisk , OS Dump , R12 Dump and VMWare Software
Download a Copy of VMWare WorkStation from http://www.vmware.com/download/ws/ for Linux
You will need an evaluation key
http://www.vmware.com/vmwarestore/newstore/wkst_eval_login.jsp , make sure you have the key before you start the Installation.
I downloaded an Image of Redhat Linux RHEL4-U4-i386-ES
    Linux Node Setup Information:
    1. Install OS Image on to the Box
    2. Name the host , say r12lab01.r12.com and assign a static IP
    3. Make sure you have all the latest RPM's in place. For more info refer R12 OS Pre-requisite Notes.
    4. Open a VNC Server as Root
    5. Download the VMWare RPM Package "VMware-workstation-5.5.3-34685.i386.rpm"
    6. Install the RPM Package
    7. Configure VMWare using "http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/doc/ws_install_linux.html"
    8. Start VMware Workstation ( /usr/bin/vmware )
    9. Enter your serial number.
    10. Create a virtual machine using the New Virtual Machine Wizard.
    ( ref : http://www.vmware.com/support/ws5/doc/newguest_ws.html )
    11. Install a guest operating system in the new virtual machine.
You need the installation media CD-ROM for your guest operating system
    12. Name the New Virtual Host as r12lab02.r12.com and assign a static IP
    13. Make sure that you can communicate between first and the second node.
I am struck up here, can you explain me how to do this,
    14. Power Off the Node and Start Fresh , make sure you have no OS Issues.
    15. Keep the VNC Session Active. ( If you loose it , your will not have the new node )
    R12 Setup Information:
    1. Download Dump of R12 from http://edelivery.oracle.com
    2. Stage them on the Hard Disk( I did not include the space requirement of the Dump above)
    3. Run a Single Node Installation
    4. Make sure that the Installation Completed Normal and all the Service are Up and Running.
    5. Perform a Complete Health Check.
Adding a Node to the Existing Setup:
    1. Power on the Second Node
    2. Mount the R12 Mount Points on the Second Node.
i tried in VMware environment, but i am not able to mount the mount points,
    3. cd /home1/aptest/test/apps/apps_st/comn/clone/bin/
    4. perl adclonectx.pl addnode contextfile=TEST_r12lab01.xml
Target hostname (virtual or normal) [r12lab02]:
    5. Make sure that the above process generate the Secondary Node's Context File
    6. Make the Service Enabled that you want to run on the Second Node.
Initially have web service configured and later modify according to your need.
    7. Move into AD_TOP/bin and run adconfig.sh , context_file=TEST_r12lab01.xml
    8. Make sure that Autoconfig Complete's Normal.
    9. Source the Environment File
    10. Start the Service on the Seconday Node
    11. Navigate to OAM and verify that you have the Second Node.

    Hi All,
I am planning to install the Oracle Apps R12 and I already downloaded the media-pack from edelivery.oracle.com.
But I am not sure how to do it because I have tree-tier architecteur at home :

One computer with XP OS -- Client tier
Could any one explain me how to install it?

  • R12 External Access

    Hi Hussein,
In my test env, I have one single node instance of R12 (12.0.6) running over RHEL 5.3. This instance environment is wrapped within a VPN. I want to give access to R12 instance to some users for testing who are outside the VPN (through internet). I want to build a test environment to learn DMZ. R12 is configured using a dummy test domain for test instance by putting entries in hosts file at server as well as client side internally. I don't need any load balancing requirement at this point as it is only for testing.
I just want to build a very simple configuration with minimum additional HW/SW which can meet my above requirement. Please help me with the following. Any step by step instructions or guide will be really appreciated.
http://r12.west.domain.com - Current VPN access URL
http://r12.domaon.com - Proposed external access URL
Do I need a seperate server outside the VPN.
How many additional public and Private IPs (VPN) needed.
Do I need to have any Public Domain.
Do I need to have any network component like switch/router.
Any additional software component need to be installed.
I have the following note for 11i from your previous post which I did not have a chance to implement as I upgraded the instance to R12.
Note: 287176.1 - DMZ Configuration with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i
    https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=287176.1
    Please suggest/advise.
    Thanks
    -Samar-

    Hi Samar,
There are many deployment options available for making Oracle E-Business Suite R12 accessible via the internet. The following document outlines these different scenarios in details.
    Note: 380490.1 - Oracle E-Business Suite R12 Configuration in a DMZ
    https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=380490.1
The simplest configuration to make your TEST server accessible via internet is to change the IP Address to public and that is all, but as you know this option is not acceptable as it is unsecure, plus you are not gaining any extra knowledge when implementing it. Since you want to avoid reverse proxy and load balancers, then the only option you have is configuring an external web tier behind a DMZ external firewall (please refer to the document referenced above for details -- Option 2.2: Using Separate Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 Web Tiers).
Web cache could be used here as it can act as a reverse proxy, web caching, and load balancer. More details about this configuration can be found in the following document.
Note: 380486.1 - Installing and Configuring Web Cache 10g and Oracle E-Business Suite 12
    https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=380486.1
I would suggest you go through the documents/links referenced in this reply, and see if you could reconsider the configuration of this test environment you want to build. If you go with web cache for example, you may implement a reverse proxy or load balancer, and hence go with a different deployment option.

NO, the license for that version of BI Publisher does NOT allow you to use it with external tools.... You would be better off getting a new licensed version for your APEX install...

  • No remittance advice output in the 'Outbound Payment File Directory'

We are working on an upgrade from 11i to R12.
Configuration has created a profile for an electronic payment with a separate remittance advice. They have specified an outbound payment file directory. The EFT text file is generated in the proper directory (on the appserver); however, the remittance advice file went to the default directory on the dbase server. We want to pick up the file, rename and ftp to our printer from the 'outbound payment file directory'.
Is this expected functionality or did we miss something in configuration?

    Manu,
I do not think it is possible -- You may log a SR and confirm this with Oracle support.

  • Upgrade db 9i to 10g for APPS

    Hi,
Could anybody tell me which is the best way to move an APPS environment 11.5.10.2 with database version 9i to an 12i environment with the DB in RAC (the DB will be 10g)?
    Thanks,
    Paul

There is really only one way to do it:
    1) Review the upgrade guide and upgrade the database to 10.2.0.2:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B34956_01/current/acrobat/r12upg11i.zip
You basically lay down the R12 technology stack, upgrade the database to 10.2.0.2, then apply a few prerequisite patches to your 11.5.10.2 instance, then apply the database only portion of $AU_TOP/patch/115/driver/u4440000.drv to complete the upgrade. After, it completes, you can disable Maintenance Mode, run autoconfig and apply the online help patch. It was a very clean upgrade compared to previous 11i Maintenance Packs. It only took 20 hours to apply the 106,000 database worker jobs on a single CPU P4 desktop running Suse Linux.
    2) Convert to R12 RAC:
Configuring Oracle Applications Release 12 with 10g R2 RAC
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=388577.1
