R12- Need to have reporting in different ways
Hi Friends,
We have a requirement where in client has a special reporting to one of the stake holders for lease. This reporting is in a different way than the conventional IFRS reporting.
Just to give an idea, in the conventional reporting (here the primary ledger) we will capture the fixed assets, but for reporting purposes, we need to show this as lease and not as fixed assets, and the income as the lease rentals . Can we handle this through the concept of secondary ledger? Can we make some JVs in the secondary ledger and report it differently thereby not touching my primary ledger. I think this is possible, just wanted a thought from you guys!!

What I have is a timecard application. Each line on the timecard is automatically populated as the employee completes portions of various tasks. Each task is delineated by a START and END time for the task. I am looking for a START A, START B, START A pattern (no END times) in the records that falls within a given timecard and within a very short timespan. I am trying to programmatically eliminate the erroneous START A records, as it is not feasible to alter the automated event recording to accomplish this.
I am anticipating that the lines will appear in chronological order START A, START B, START A. I have a query that identifies these. It is only the manipulation portion of this that is vexing. Cursors are great for looping and repetitive actions, but they operate on a record-by-record basis. I need something - like an array - that allows me to identify the individual elements so that I can apply the business rule.

I am now having a question on my report.
I have 3 datasets:
Dataset A, Dataset B, Dataset C
and 1 parameter field:
FirmNum
and each of them have one common field firm_num
I would like to perform in a way that when the user input firm_num(s), they can generate the report contain all the firm_nums' records.
The problem is it only works if only 1 input is inserted. However, it doesn't work for more than 1.
I tried to use the list of values but it fails.
I am using SQL query to take all data from db.
Please advise on how the list of values (or other methods) could help me generate the report.

As described before, there are 3 datasets. I would like to perform it in a way that when a user select multiple firmnums (e.g. firmnum A,B,C). I would like the report to be generated in a way that both details of firmnum A, B and C are in the same ONE .pdf file AND print according to the FIRMNUM details. SO it should be like FIRMNUM A print first, after finish printing all details of FIRMNUM A, then FIRMNUM B and so on.
e.g.
FIRMNUM A
FIRMNUM B
FIRMNUM C
END

anyone know why my iPad says not charging?
Your computer's USB port would not be providing enough power. It gives that messege but is in fact charging quite slowly. This method is not recommended.
If you are also getting the message when using the supplied 10W charger then I also suggest trying another cable. -

Need to return data from a query in different ways - Please help
We are using 10g R2
I have a proc as follows that has a query with over 100 values in the select clause:
proc one( input param1, input_param2,.... output_cursor )

I need to return the data that comes from the above query in different formats, columns for a report would be different from columns for screen A and different for screen B. I need only certain columns for a report and different set of columns for another screen. I have wrapper procs that get different input params. From the wrapper procs I intend to call the above proc but would like only selected values.
How can I accomplish this? Since my main goal is to select different columns for each wrapper I was thinking of insert the data from the above proc into global temp table and selecting whatever columns and order I want from the wrappers.
What do you think? Any other solutions?

Edited by: user565033 on Jan 21, 2013 7:50 PMYou need to clearly separate roles and responsibilities. The PL/SQL code that creates and supplies a cursor handle is server code tasked to supply data. The code that makes the call for server data, is responsible for formatting and rendering that data.
Thus moving data formatting into the server code needs to be question. Simple example. Cursor does not return invoice date as a date - but formats it into a string using TO_CHAR().
This works for client1 - as that is the date format expected. However, client2 has different International settings and specifies a different date format. Invoice date, formatted into a string by the server, now renders in the wrong format on client2.
Server code should not be concerned with rendering and formatting of data send to a client.
As for the idea to use a global temp table is ..., well to put it nicely, it smells. Badly.
The single most expensive operation on a database platform is I/O. And now you want to read server data and write it to temporary storage, and the read data from temporary storage to return to the client? What on earth for!? Why purposefully increase the size of the I/O workload? Why decrease performance and undermine scalability?
Provide a proper abstraction interface to the client. Enable it to specify (as simplistically as possible) what it wants ito data. There are a number of ways to design and implement this in PL/SQL. Simplistic example:

I have just brought 2 mini's for my boys for xmas. 1. can I connect them both to my existing Itunes account or do I need to set up something different. and 2. can they be used on their dads account as well as mine, or only one?
You can set them up with your Apple ID if you want to. You can also set them up with their dad's Apple ID. Depending on how old the boys are, you can even let then have their own Apple ID's. The one thing that you don't want to do is have them use more than one Apple ID on their iPads.
If you want to be able to share purchased content, then setting them up with either your ID or your husband's (?) ID would be the way to go. If the boys share an ID with one of you, they can download content that you have already purchased without having to pay for it again.
If you and have the financial wherewithal to allow them to purchase their own individual content, I would recommend letting them have their own Apple ID. This way, as they grow older and eventually move on, they will have their own accounts, their own purchases .... No ties needed to your ID or to dad's ID. FaceTime and Messages will be a little easier to set up if they have their own ID's and they can have their own iCloud accounts as well. However, they must be 13 years old in order to have an Apple ID and iTunes account. If they are under 13, then it's a no brainer you will have to use yours or their father's ID.
Whatever you decide to do, just don't switch from one ID to another ID on the iPads. That gets confusing and they could end up locking themselves out of one of the ID's for 90 days if they download a past purchase using a different ID. -

This URL content should be shown as it, without has to write any code from the
side of developer.
Plz give me some detailed steps to execute this.
If you guyz can give me some good reference document probably a cook book sort
of thing, then I will feel more comfortable.

This will involve some amount of redesign since you're converint a regular web
site into a portal (the domain/portal wizards will help you do this). You'll then
need to create a new portal app, and convert those web apps into portlets, and
add these portlets to the new portal app.Prasanna,
It is impossible to answer this question is a general way, it all depends on
what the other web application is doing. If it is just returning static HTML
then a home-grown solution (scrape taglib / IFRAME) and some URL rewriting
will suffice. If the remote application requires authentication, uses SSL,
cookies, Javascript, displays pop-ups etc. then things can get complicated
extremely quickly. At that point you probably need to use a 3rd-party web
scraping engine (Kapow for example. Peter Laird posted a list of many
others.)
There are network throughput, single sign-on, and performance issues to
consider. Obviously the most performant solution entails converting your
exisitng WLS application into a Portal application, by refactoring its JSPs,
deploying its EJBs etc. Alternatively making remote calls into your business
objects (EJBs) or deploying WebServices to extract the DATA from the remote
application independent of the presentation may be an option for well
architected applications.
So, sorry, I'm afraid it is very hard to generalize these things into much
more than a list of issues that you should consider as you work through the
possible solutions.
FYI: IFRAME is supported by IE 5+ and Netscape 6.x:

Need help setting up 3 different iCloud accounts for my kids (so each has own iMessanger)using same Apple ID (mine) ....they don't have their own separate email addresses to work from...how do I do this?
Any devices connected to the same icloud account can sync all the data on that account. For this reason an icloud account is really for a single user.
On a mac, if each user has their own account, then the itunes for that mac account should be set up to connect to that user's icloud account (System preferences>icloud). -

I mean, the solution work for single value but when i pass multiple values then separated by a comma then it doesn't work and shows me an error like "Incorrect Syntax ','". I am using SQL server as DB and bip is 10.1.3.4.1

Need to have a reply-to address different than my Gmail account.
I use gmail to send and receive my business email. When I send mail the recipient sees it as coming from [email protected] not gmail. On the mac this is fine as the "Email Address" is different to the username used to login to the Gmail IMAP account.
On the iphone the address is the account login info and when I send a message it shows as coming from [email protected]

I have many apps where i must swipe down and it constantly brings down the notification screen. Is there anyway to disable this or activate it a different way because this really bugs me.
I don't have that problem. Perhaps I touch the screen lower when I wipe down? I don't know for sure but there's got to be some difference in the way that we wipe down. you might wish to do some experimenting.
