  • Firewire ports conflict with sound settings.

Hi, Peculiar problem. My sound suddenly switched to being internal speaker only, even though I have decklink HD Extreme card and was using it as my audio output the night before. Narrowed the problem down to anything being plugged in to the firewire ports - FW400 and FW800 ports and drives or even my Mini DV deck. When I plug anything into the firewire ports, trying to get to the sound settings in system preferences hangs, and all sound will only work on the internal speaker. This is a sudden problem and leaves me only being able to plug in esata external hard drives. There is some sort of conflict going on somewhere. Can anybody help?

  • Re: Sun One conflicting with Apache

I have Sun One 4.0 ASP Server and Apache 2.0.43 and Tomcat 5.0.28 and I noticed that when I added the JK Mounts to Apache in order for Apache to become the dominant Web Server as opposed to Tomcat on the Unix side, that the Sun One statements caused conflict. Specifically:
    LoadModule casp2_module /var/Chilisoft/casp/module/sunos5_optimized/apache_2.0.x/20020903/standard/mod_casp2.so
    AND
    CaspLib /var/Chilisoft/casp/asp-server-3000
** When these lines were commented out, Apache worked fine and was able to bring back the Client page as well as data. Is there a port conflict with Apache or something else that I may be missing?
    thanks!
    Benjiwolf12

    I have fixed this problem.
Apparently, the order of where the 'Load Module' is placed in Apache is very important. I moved the Load Module down to the bottom of the httpd.conf file and now the conflict is resolved.
    cheers!

  • Each time I connect to my IBM computer it crashes with blue screen error message pops up. Apple say that it's my printer/camera drivers. The problem is with iTunes, it likes to play with all the ports on my comp and conflicts with prnt drivers. How to fix

Does anyone know how to fix this problem without disabling my printer. It's very frustrating. It's either I have my iPad or my printer. iTunes likes to play with the ports on my computer thereby causing a conflict with my printer drivers. Apple should fix this problem, I'm so annoyed.

When this problem first happened, I searched for threads and found a few.  See be;ow links:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1502
Apple say that its a driver problem, but I've never had this problem before so I am not convinced. Another thread, which I can't seem to find, suggests that it is an apple problem - itunes plays with the ports on the company causing conflicts with existing drivers. I isolated the conflict to my new Samsung printer. I uninstalled the Samsung printer driver and then can successfully connect my ipad without the blue screen appearing.
It's not a windows problem. Windows is working fine. Only happens when Ipad is connected. Actually, this first happened after I installed the new version of itunes. I reget installing the new itunes version, but don't know how to reinstall the previous itunes version.

  • I have a current 2TB Time Capsule. I would like to add more ethernet ports for needed expansion. Will an Airport Extreme conflict with the Time Capsule for needed ethernet ports and will wireless from both units conflict?

I own a current 2TB Time Capsule and I need to expand my network system to include more ethernet (wired) ports. I am considering an Airport Extreme that would give me enough wired ports. Will the wireless capabilities of both units conflict with each other? I only need one wireless network. Thank you for any help.

While you could certainly add an AirPort Extreme to provide additional Ethernet ports, you could also save about $150 by purchasing an inexpensive switch, such as one of these:
    http://www.amazon.com/D-Link-DGS-1005G-5-Port-Gigabit-Desktop/dp/B003X7TRWE/
    http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Unmanaged-GREENnet-Auto-Negotiation-Auto-MDIX/dp/ B001QUA6R0/
Consumer grade Ethernet switches typically come in five and eight port configurations. Just be aware that a five port switch only conveys the ability to add three additional devices. An eight port switch conveys the ability to add six additional devices.
An 8 port switch provides twice the capacity of a 5 port switch for considerably less than twice the cost. The price difference between the two is often only $10 or so.
I just checked, the 8 port version of the Trendnet switch above costs exactly $4 more.
An AirPort Extreme is a very flexible full featured wireless router, and would provide three additional LAN ports for wired devices. If all you need is a few more ports though, it's overkill.

  • Port forwarding conflict with applicaton ssh

    Hi,
I have 2 machines in my home network that I want to be able to ssh to from externally using different ports, 22 and 2022. Both forwarders need to forward to port 22 on the 2 machines. I only seem to be able to establish one forwarder. The second one complains that it conflicts with the first. It seems like it can't handle forwarding to the same port despite it being on a different server. Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround?
    Thanks, Tom

The NAT within the home hub can only map to one port of the same number, irrespective of the device, its just the way it works.
I am not sure which routers would be capable of this.

  • R12 with RAC - Failover

    Hi,
Is it possible to have r12 Single Application tier with two node RAC database tier ?
Suppose if i have a 2 node rac and Node1 goes down, which of the following application services can fail over ( or say connect ) to second node.
    1. self service application
    2. Forms applicaton ?
    3. CM
Can this happend dynamically or do i need to restart the application services ?
Is it manadatory to have multiple applications node if we have RAC at the backend ?

    Hi,
You can implement RAC with single application tier node.
It is not mandatory to have multiple application nodes with RAC, but it is recommended (in terms of performance and availability).
I believe all your questions are answered in the following document.

  • RAC conflict with symantic Antivirus

    HI Guru!
I have heard that Symantic Antivirus version 10 conflict with Oracle RAC.I mean if I install the Symantic Antivirus in my RAC server there may be problem with RAC.Is it true??
Please inform me in detail if anybody knows about this.
    Thanks in advance
    mokarem

I assume you're talking about RAC on Windows. Specific problems with Symantec Antivirus software are not known to me, but it's a fact sometimes antivirus programs interfere with Oracle, not only in the context of RAC. There's a metalink note about this:
RAC install reports 'access denied' error while copying files to remote node
    Doc ID:373470.1
But there are no general rules, you have to check it out in every single case.

  • Is anyone else having conflict with 10.8.2 update and audio files?

I recently updated from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2 (big mistake).  Now my digital interface has all of these random clicks and pops.  Worse yet, when I try and play my audio files (Digital Performer) or ITUNES that music stops, starts, stutters and is basically unlistenable.  Before the update everything ran smoothly.  I talked with the tech support for my digital music application (Digital Performer) and he thinks there is a conflict with the latest Apple update too.  Is anyone else having these problems?
To get back to 10.8.1 do I have to wipe the hard drive and re-install everything?  I use my Mac for music production so this is killing me.  Any ideas?

I once again reloaded 10.8.2, all of the current firewire, USB, and printer drivers (why not make sure those are up to date too, what have I got to lose?).  Checked the cables, the Mac firewire ports etc.  No change.
So I bought a cheap back up firewire drive (Western Digital, My Passport Studio-about $100).  That worked perfectly on the firewire port of my Mac Pro.
I hooked up my MOTU 828 firewire audio interface into the Western Digital's second firewire port, and everything works perfectly.
I wish I had known that daisey chaining devices would solve my problem before I spent $500 on a new firewire interface.
If you are having similar problems with firewire connection, then try daisey chaining through a device that has no problems.  Who knew a solution could be so simple?

  • "conflicts with the WAN IP address"

I just picked up a used AirPort Extreme N (Gigabit Ethernet) to replace my current non-Apple router, which has worked satisfactorily but lacks the ability to share disks--something I need. Using my G5 running 10.4.11, I downloaded AirPort Utility 5.4.2 to set up the new (to me) device, and did a factory reset just to clear everything out. I placed the AirPort in the network exactly where the old one had been--with its WAN port connected to the line supplied by my ISP (see below) and its three other ethernet ports connected to various clients. Then I ran into a problem:
Under the "Internet" icon of Airport Utility, I set it to Connect Using Ethernet, and Configure IPv4 using DHCP (My current router uses DHCP to provide IP addresss to both the wired and wireless devices on my network). The numbers below that are: IP address 192.168.1.12, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, and router address 192.168.1.1.
The first field of the line labeled "DNS Server(s)" defaults to 192.168.1.1, while the second field is empty, as are the fields Domain Name and DHCP Client ID. I left Ethernet WAN port on "Automatic" and put "Connection Sharing" on "Share a Public IP address," since I believe its combination of DHCP and NAT offer the best security.
The problem: When I click the "Update" button to confirm my settings, I get this message: "The DHCP range you have entered conflicts with the WAN IP address of your Apple wireless device."
Although I am unclear as to why the Internet Connection pane of the AirPort Utility lists "IP address" and "Router address" as two separate numbers (aren't they referring to the same device, the AirPort itself? How can it have two IP addresses?), I figured that I could play it safe and change the starting number to 192.168.1.13 to avoid the conflicts with 192.168.1.12.
But I still get the same error message when pressing "update." I tried changing the range to 192.168.1.50 - 192.168.1.60, and I still get the same error message. There seems to be no range that the utility will accept as non-conflicting with the "WAN IP address" of the Airport.
My ISP did not provide a visible modem as others in the past have done. The internet connection they left me simply comes out of a box on the back of the house that is connected by fiber optics to (presumably) a fiber optic line out in the street. However, this "supply line" has always worked fine with my non-Apple router and--after disconnecting the AirPort that had temporarily taken its place--is working right now as I throw this question to the forum.
    Additional notes:
    * Under the NAT tab, the box "Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol" is checked, as it was by default) while "Enable default host at" is unchecked and blank.
    * While I currently have wireless turned on in the AirPort, I haven't even tried wireless connectivity yet and want to make sure my wired connectivity is working first.
    Thanks for any assistance.

The problem: When I click the "Update" button to confirm my settings, I get this message: "The DHCP range you have entered conflicts with the WAN IP address of your Apple wireless device."
This error message typically indicates that your 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) is receiving a Private (as opposed to a Public IP address) on its WAN port. That could be because your ISP does not provide any device (computer or router), that is directly connected to their "box," with a Public IP address.
Your AEBSn is both a DHCP client (on the WAN-side) and a DHCP server (on the LAN-side). The Configure IPv4 is basically the on/off switch for the AEBSn's DHCP client. It's other option, PPPoE, would only be used if your ISP requires it.
One option would be to reconfigure the AEBSn as a bridge. This would disable both the AEBSn's NAT & DHCP services.
Although I am unclear as to why the Internet Connection pane of the AirPort Utility lists "IP address" and "Router address" as two separate numbers (aren't they referring to the same device, the AirPort itself? How can it have two IP addresses?
The IP address information on (actually the TCP/IP pane) is showing you the AEBSn's WAN port settings. Settings that with Configure IPv4 set to Using DHCP would come from the DHCP server upstream of it. If this server was providing Public IP addresses then the values in both the IP Address & Router Address fields would not be in any of the three valid Private IP Address ranges (10.x, 172.x, or 192.x)
Under the NAT tab, the box "Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol" is checked, as it was by default) while "Enable default host at" is unchecked and blank.
This setting would not have anything to do with the error message that you are getting. Instead, this option is used as an on/off switch for the NAT-PMP protocol. This protocol is similar to non-AirPorts' UPnP protocol.
While I currently have wireless turned on in the AirPort, I haven't even tried wireless connectivity yet and want to make sure my wired connectivity is working first.
Both wired and wireless clients will be impacted by this until resolved. I again, suggest that you try reconfiguring the AEBSn as a bridge. (ref: AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup > Internet > Internet Connection > Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode))
