R12 upgrade. Manual or Mantenance Wizard

I am making preparation for my R12 upgrade. Is is advisabel to go manual or use the mantenace wizard. Please advise.
What are the advantages of the maintenance wizard.

Try Both and you will see the differences.... I have used the MW a couple of times and I think by following the upgrade manual you will learn a bit more regarding the upgrade process.

11i-R12 upgrade: when to apply patch 8919489

I am performing an 11.5.10.2 -> R12.1.1 upgrade on Linux-x86 using the Maint Wizard (MW).
MOS ID 437878.1 says to apply patch 8919489 (R12.TXK.B.Delta.3) BEFORE applying the bundle forms patch 9593176 (and any missing patches) as part of the OAS 10.1.2.3 upgrade.
The MW has patch 8919489 being applied AFTER the OAS 10.1.2.3 upgrade patches (done in MOS 437878.1) and after the main 12.1.1 upgrade patch (u6678700.drv).
Does it matter when this patch is applied?

I suppose that I should clarify.
- The MW says to follow MOS 437878.1 BEFORE starting the primary upgrade patch
- MOS 437878.1 says to apply patch 8919489 as a pre-req patch
- The MW says to apply patch 8919489 after the primary upgrade patch
So, is it to be applied along with the other 437878.1 patches or after the primary upgrade patch?
I don't know where MOS 437878.1 is referenced as part of the 11i-R12 upgrade outside of the MW.

11i-R12 upgrade and MOS 954704.1 (pre-upgrade

I am performing the 11.5.10.2 -> R12.1.1 Upgrade using the Maint Wizard (v2.19) on Linux x86.
I am at this step:
Cat - Upg to Rel 12.1.1
ProdFamily - Perform the Upgrade
Task - Apply Preinstall Patches
Step - Check for critical pre-upgrade patches for Financials
Action - Follows MOS note 954704.1 to apply pre-upgrade patches
I would like to know whether I need to use any special options/parameters to adpatch when applying these R12 patches.

I don't understand. I haven't applied ANY R12 patches (except OAS 10.1.2.3) yet since I am still at a "pre-upgrade" step.
So the R12 patch cannot be in AD_BUGS.
The R12.AD.A.delta.4 patch is 6510214. Don't I need to know whether it is in the Rapid Install upgrade driver u6678700.drv?Sorry, I thought you are asking how to find if it is applied or not later after the upgrade.
Just follow the same logic we did with Patch 6856840, search MOS for (R12.AD.A.DELTA.4, Patch 6510214) and you will get the list of patches that includes this patch (according to MOS website, I can see that this patch is only included in R12.AD.A.DELTA.6).

Additional Setup After R12 Upgrade

Hello Experts,
We are currently in the Process of upgrading 11i.5.10.2 to R12.1.3.
We are having GL, AR and Projects module as a part of the R12 upgrade. The question is straight forward, After R12 upgrade do we need to do any additional setup on subledger or GL level?
If the answer is Yes, then pls guide me for the same.

MW R12 upgrade questions

Hi Folks,
Just installed MW 2.17 and would like to a upgrade our E-Business from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3. I prepared a project which uses the Upgrade Assistant R12. I believe it plans to upgrade our application from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1. If that's the case, how can I prepare MW to upgrade the R12 (12.1.1) application to 12.1.3. Should I use 'maintenance pack assistant R12' or 'release upgrade assistant R12' or should I customize the R12 upgrade project to upgrade the application to 12.1.3 after upgrading to 12.1.1.
Besides, when I am in 'Define Nodes' page, I see column 'Main Upgrade from' is '11.5.10.2', 'Main upgade to' is '12', but nothing in columns 'Other Upgrade from' and 'Other Update to'. Could some one tell me what these two columns ('Other Upgrade from' and 'Other Update to') for.

Derek,
Version 2.17 of MW will take you from 11.5.10 to 12.1.1 using the Upgrade Assistant 12 product.
We are in the process of updating the RUP12 product to then take you from 12.1.1 to 12.1.2. This, however, has not been released yet, and does not even have a tentative date, although I do feel it will be in calendar year 2010! 12.1.3 is on the horizon, but not currently being worked on yet, as it is so new.
If 12.1.3 is your ultimate goal, I suggest you use the MW to upgrade to 12.1.1 and then manually apply the RUP to 12.1.3. (Alternatively, you could add the steps as custom into your MW project as you suggested, if you like.)

We have upgraded from 11.5.10.2 to R12 (12.1.3) on linux platform (rhel 4.6 to 6.2)
Can any one suggest what testing(technical) we have to go through after the R12 upgrade has been done.

In addition to what you can find in the upgrade manual Oracle E-Business Suite Upgrade Guide the list of sanity check question would include something like the following:
- Create/Update users/responsibilities/functions/menus
- Submit different types of concurrent programs
- Ensure CM and Workflow is working as expected
- Verify OPMN components and log files
- Verify your custom tops (if any exists)
.. etc
You should come up with your own list when you upgrade your test instance and verify the same for production upgrade.
You may Google "R12 Upgrade Lesson Learned" and/or "R12 Post Technical Upgrade" and you should get many hits.

R12 Upgrade Query

Hi All,
My client is requsting me to upgrade the Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 with 10.2.0.5 database to R12. I am going through the upgrade manual and I have not done and upgrade in the past.
I have the following queries.
1) Where can is get the installables for R12? Should I raise an SR(Service Request)? What release of R12 should I ask for? Under which category I have to raise the SR?
2) Which version of R12 will I initially have after the first run of Rapidwiz?
3) After the Rapidwiz can I directly apply the patch for R12.1.3?
4) What XDisplay software I can use to invoke the GUI in Rapidwiz?
Kindly clarify.

R12 Upgrade issue

I am doing R12 upgrade, as part of it, i have applied R12 AD patch, now when ever i am trying to appy English patch, i am getting below error, any ideas

R11i 의 Payables Accounting 정보를 R12 로 upgrade 시 사용되는 scripts 에 대해 알아보도록 한다.
EXPLANATION
R12 의 AP Accounting 정보를 담는 new tables 은 아래와 같다.

XLA_TRANSACTION_ENTITIES_UPG
XLA_DISTRIBUTION_LINKS
R12 에서 더 이상 사용하지 않는 tables 목록은 아래와 같다.

1) apxlaupg.sql - Transaction entities, events, headers 와 lines 정보를 XLA tables 로 upgrade 하는 script 이다.
a ) XLA_TRANSACTION_ENTITIES_UPG 로 다음 정보를 insert 한다.

- For AP_INVOICES , data from AP_INVOICES_ALL is used if distributions with accounting_event_id exists

AX_EVENTS 에 해당 하는 rows 가 있거나 ‘11.5 Upgrade’ 란 description 으로 생성된 record 가 AE HEADER record 에 있으면 AP_ACCOUNTING_EVENTS_ALL의 AX_ACCOUNTED_FLAG을 UPDATE 한다.
4) apgpsupd.sql
application_id = 200 (Payables) and migration_status_code equals ‘P’ 를 가진 gl_period_statuses 의 migration_status_code 를 ‘U’ UPDATE 하는 XLA package (xlaugupg.pkb) 를 호출 한다.

Invoice distribution links, prepay header, prepay app distributions 와 prepay distribution links 를 UPGRADE 한다.

During R12 upgrade adworker for patch u6678700.drv fails for afopp002.sql

During R12.1.1 upgrade from 11.5.10.2 adworker for patch u6678700.drv fails for afopp002.sql
The exact error being faced is

Let me walk you through briefly regarding the upgrade process:
Initially the existing instance was 11.5.10.2 with 9.2.0.6 database.Last year the database was upgraded to 11.2.0.1 and configured with 11.5.10.2
However the 11g database upgrade steps specifically for EBS 11i(interoperatibility notes for 11i with 11g database) was not followed properly.
And one of the major key issue identified was the 11g Example CD was not installed on top of 11g software during database upgrade.Which is the pre-req for 11g upgrade in EBS
And as per my experience it creates issues during R12 upgrade (patch u6678700) and giving errors pertaining to oracle text error.
SR was raised for the same and was suggested, since there is no other option kindly install the Oracle 11g software and on top of that 11g Example CD and map the 11g database and go ahead with the R12 upgrade.
Now coming back to the core issue being faced, Pre-req followed properly.No errors in alert logs.
Can missing the Example CD installtion be the issue?

11i to R12 upgrade

Hi,
I am doing test upgrade 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1
I am following R12 upgrade guide and 1211 install guide. I finished rapid install step "Creating the Upgrade File System". Now my next step is to perform upgrade (apply upgrade drivers).
It is not clear in the documents and patch readme if I need to apply patches to 11i APPL_TOP or newly created R12 file system. Can somebody help me?

Which document says I need to apply only database driver? So far I have reviewed upgrade guide Part No. E14010-01.In the Same upgrade guide part NO:E14010-01 check the page no:73 it given as follows:
Under Section 3 "Upgrading to Release 12.1.1"
10. Run the American English upgrade patch driver (required)
Applies to 11i release level: All
TUMS step key: N/A
To bring your database to the full Oracle Applications Release 12.1.1 level, use AutoPatch to run the (American English) unified driver (u6678700.drv). It is located in $AU_TOP/patch/115/driver.
Run the driver on the administration server node on your Release 12.1.1 APPL_TOP
using the following commands:
$ adpatch options=nocopyportion,nogenerateportion
Do I need to start database in new R12 file system.Yes. All the steps mentioned under Section 3.9 onwards need to perform in the new 12.1 Oracle _home

REP-1419: 'beforereport': PL/SQL program aborted.I dont believe payment batches are used anymore as they need to be done via Payment profiles and therefore you will need to use Payment Instruction ids instead. Also the setup at R12 is Mosaic
try including this. as the first statement in the Beforereport trigger. All the banks tables payment tables has changed so unless you have changed these to you will need to adjust these correctly to the R12 tables.

Discoverer Reports does not work in Multi-org Environment after R12 Upgrade

Discoverer Reports does not work in Multi-org Environment after R12 Upgrade. Created a simple report using the below query:
SELECT po_header_id, segment1, type_lookup_code
FROM po_headers
WHERE segment1 = '5000002'
Query works perfectly fine; when i set the ORG_CONTEXT in the database using the command:
EXEC mo_global.set_policy_context('S',129)
But the report doesn't fetch any data when ran from an Org based responsibility. We've ensured that the MO: Operting Unit is set accurately and general Oracle reports (PLSQL Program OR XML Publisher) are working perfectly fine.

I followed the steps provided in Metalink Note: 732826.1 - It works for some responsibilities where the MO: Security Profile is not set; but fails for those responsibilities where the MO: Security Profile is set.
I am looking for specific solution that works irrespective of either the MO: Operating Unit profile is set of not.
Please suggest. Appreciate your response.

Discoverer Workbooks Based On Organization Enabled Views Are Not Populated [ID 1293438.1]
- Tried this option; but this option is messing up a couple of Oracle Standard Functionalities.
- For ex: If i set this profile option; we are not able to create any receipts using Custom Responsibilities.
I am able to create the receipt, when i remove this profile option.
No Data Shows for Reports in Discoverer 10g with Applications Release 12 [ID 1054380.1]
- I see that the products i am running these reports from AR/GL - already exists in these tables.
Anything other options??

once The Installation creates APPL_TOP, COMMON_TOP, INST_TOP and 10g Oracle Home
Now we are connected to R12 application.
Applied patch AD.A 4502962.
Run the American English upgrade patch driver
cd $AU_TOP/patch/115/driver
adpatch options=nocopyportion,nogenerateportion
Please enter the name of your AutoPatch driver file: u4440000.drv
This patch doesn't have readme it will be under cd $AU_TOP/patch/115/driver

Not able to run adadmin adfter installing R12 Upgrade file system

Now we are doing 11i apps to R12 upgrade single node, before we did database upgrade 9i to 10.2.0.4,
I successfully installed R12 upgrade file system with out any errors, i have chagned the
new Installation creates APPL_TOP, COMMON_TOP, INST_TOP and 10g Oracle Home
i moved the new environment file into .bash_profile
mv .bash_profile .bash_profile_11.5.10
Iset the R12 environment , When ever i tried to run adadmin system manager password is not taking its giving error

after installing i am trying to apply R12.AD.B patch, do we need to apply this patch in 11i fiile system or New R12 file system, for 11i file system i am not getting any issue, but when ever i set the R12 new file system enviroment file then only i am not able to connect the database,i have changed new port numbers in R12 file system, is that causing any issues..?
