  • Remove Save as option in R12 instance - discoverer reports

    Hi,
IN R12 instance discoverer reports we find following option at top-left side of the screen
    - Rerun query
    - Save as
    - Revert to saved
    - Export
    ....etc
Is it possible to remove 'Save as' option? If yes, please suggest how can it be done.
    Thanks,
    Kamath.

    Hi Kamath
The whole of the Viewer interface is customizable, meaning you turn off / on the features you want to see made available to your users. Thus, if you don't want your users to be able to Export you can turn it off.
Rod has commented that the only way you can stop a user from saving a workbook is to turn off that privilege in the Admin edition. This is absolutely correct. Just turning off or disabling the Save and Save As buttons inside Viewer will stop stop a user from saving. What it will stop is the casual saving but if a report has been modified when the user goes to exit they will be asked if they want to save, even with the Save and Save As button disabled. Thus, you do need to remove the privilege.
As for altering the look and feel of Viewer, not only can you decide which buttons to activate / deactivate, but you can also change the base fonts, color scheme and even add your corporate logo. I have been to many organizations who have changed Viewer to have the look and feel of their corporate website.
    I hope this information helps

  • Urgent help with discoverer 4i installation

Hi All, I just started working on a discoverer upgrade process. I need help in installing discoverer 4i and them refering to a 10g database. Can any one guide to a reference doc which I may refer to finish the complete install. In other words I need to configure discoverer 4i so that we can do development. I have downloaded the admin, desktop and the 3201601 patch for 4i as well.
Not sure if they dont know it or they are not interested in it.
I have been working as a disco admin and developer for quiet some time now but dont know how to install and do the configuration.
    Thanks.

    Hi Paul,
I hate to tell you, but you should be implementing Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.x) and not 4i. Discoverer 4i is de-supported and I do not think it was ever certified with 10g database.
Check the following MetaLink note for details.
237607.1     ALERT: Required and Recommended Patch Levels For All Discoverer Versions
One exception, you mentioned an upgrade. That tells me you are likely on version 3. In which case, you would need to install the 4i EUL to migrate from 3 to 4 and then upgrade to 10g. If you don't have much invested in 3, then it might be a good chance to start clean in 10g. In your case, you install the base 3.1.37 Administrator version on your Windows desktop (that old installer requires it to be the first Oracle product installed and in the default home), then apply 3201601 to bring you to 4.1.48.06, then download and apply 4.1.48.08 (3451630 ).
You can then upgrade the 3 EUL to 4, following the Administration Guide, located on OTN: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/discoverer.html
Then you can do the same with Discoverer 10G Administrator
I'm just the messenger. Good Luck.

  • Pl/sql with discoverer 10.1.2

I need import e funcion in pl/sql via dblink. Can i do this??? i use discoverer administrator and desktop 10.1.2.
When i try to import the funcion i obtein a massage "Invalid function". I don't know that this is a problem with the dblink.. i dont't know if i need some permition from my database.
Please help...somebody have a manual where i can see this issue.

Discoverer 10.1.2.2 patch (4960210) + one off patch (5758865) resolved the IE7 related issue .
So I guess Discoverer 10.1.2.3 should not have issue regarding IE7
The following Internet Explorer (IE) browser and product combinations are fully certified and supported by Oracle:
    Discoverer 10.1.2.0.2 and 10.1.2.2 with IE 6.0
Discoverer 10.1.2.2 with Discoverer Cumulative Patch 3 and higher - IE 6.0 and 7.0
Discoverer 10.1.2.3 with any cumulative patch lower than CP 6, IE 6.0 and 7.0
    Discoverer 10.1.2.3 and Cumulative Patch 6 with IE 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0
    Discoverer 11g with IE 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0

    1. From the Start button use Programs | Oracle - BIToolsHome1 | Configuration and Migration Tools | Net Configuration Assistant.
    2. Select Local Net Service Name Configuration the click the Next button

    9. When informed Connecting... Test successful click the Next button

  • Portal 3.0 with Discoverer as a portlet?

I need to setup Oracle Portal 3.0 with Discoverer 3i for a demonstration tomorrow due to a "this just came in!" from the management! ;)
What I would like to do it to display some sort of Discoverer portlet so anyone with a browser can access and view Discover results in a nice manner.
I have been told this is possible (by Oracle Denmark) but how....?!
Could anyone please email a step-by-step description if you know how to do this?
    Thanks!

I came across a document in Metalink that may help you out.
The doc. id is 124799.1 "How to setup webforms 6i to display as an Oracle Portal Portlet".

  • Workbook with Discoverer Viewer in Apps 11i?

With the help of (Doc ID: 278095.1) I was able to link Discoverer workbooks in Apps 11i. But all of my workbooks open with Discoverer Plus.
How do I open some of the workbook with Discoverer Viewer in Apps 11i?
I can open all my workbook directly with Discoverer Viewer without Apps 11i config.
Current Function Settings (in 11i) are:
    Type: SSWA plsql function
    HTML Call: OracleOASIS.RunDiscoverer
Thanks in advance for your help,

    Hi,
Your workbooks are openned with viewer or plus depending on the profile 'ICX: Discoverer use Viewer'. You can override this by setting the viewer parameter on the call to OracleOASIS.RunDiscover. In the config of the Apps function that call OracleOASIS.RunDiscover, on the form tab add &VIEWER=Y or &VIEWER=N onto the end of the parameters. e.g workbook=myworkbook&parameters=param1~value1&viewer=Y
    Hope that helps,

  • Live sites with Discoverer Viewer

Is there a list of sites available in the Internet with Discoverer Viewer working ? I would like to see some real live experiences with Viewer.
    thanks,

    Hi Simon
That's really cool, although it is Discoverer 9.0.4, not 10.1.2.
For anyone who is interested, Oracle made a lot of changes between the 9.0.4 Viewer and the 10.1.2 Viewer, not least being the ability to send a report via email, to save a report, to pivot the data and to handle fine grained printing using PDF. You can also set up a corporate look and feel for 10.1.2 Viewer using the OEM interface.
With regards to the take up of Discoverer Viewer, most companies I work with are using it in a ratio of between 70:30 and 90:10 Viewer versus Plus.
Its a great tool for doing exactly what it says - viewing a report.
    Best wishes

  • Help needed with discoverer PO report

    Hi Guys,
Need some help with discoverer 4i report.
There is a workbook in discoverer which runs and displays output depending on the parameters.
The report is related to PO Requisitions (displays all the details related to the requisition). For ex:- like req creation_date, req_num, requestor(to_person_id),preparer, approver, appr_dept, req_status, po_number, po_name, po_status etc.
All these requestor’s, preparer’s, approver’s are employees. When a user logs in to discoverer and runs this report, he should only his requisitions created. For example, the user who is logged in is connected hr_employees with employee_id. So when the user runs the report, the report should display only the requisitions with his employee name either in preparer or as requestor. But my report is able to all the requisitions of other employees too.
How can I solve this problem in discover 4i.
    Help Appreciated.

    Hi Gareth,
How can we do that. Can you explain in brief how a function is created and how it can be used in the workbook conditions.
    Help Appreciated
