    Hi,
Every time I try to install ThinkVantage Active Protection System, I get this error on the setup "This installation package is not supported by this processor type." My processor is an Intel T3400.
    Thanks,

    Hello mate,
You need a ThinkPad to install Active Protection System, i don't think it will work with a Lenovo 3000.

  • X131e 3371 Active Protection installation failing with thininstaller

I am having and issue with the ThinkVantage Active Protection System is not installing on a new x131e type 3371 and it is setup correctly in Update Retriever and Thininstaller is running and all of the other components install just fine. Is there a pre-request or another package that is supposed to be installed first? Nothing noticeable in the log either?
    Thanks,

  • Previous versions of drivers; Screensaver Install; Active Protection Icon

    Hello,
I'm having a few issues and was wondering if someone could offer some assistance. I have a X200 which is running Vista 64-bit OS. I just completed a clean install of Vista-64.
Issue #1 (old *.scr file) - Is it posible to run my old Lenovo screensaver post-install? I saved it as a *.scr file to an external hard drive before deleting everything but the file will not work on my clean system by just copying it over into the appropriate folder. I get an error messasge when trying to preview it from within screensaver options. Does anyone have an excutable version of the "Think" screensaver (circa 2009/2010)?
Issue #2 (Previous versions of Lenovo drivers) - In the past it seemed to me that installing new drivers on my system has caused certain components to stop working correctly. For example, after an update to the audio last year, I lost sound to my external speaker and just had audio when plugging in headphones. Does anyone know where I could find previous versions of drivers on a reputable website? Specifically, does anyone have a copy of a previous version (circa 2009-2010) of the Conexant Audio driver/software for Vista (64-bit) for the X200?
Issue #3 ("ThinkVantage Active Protection") I installed this software and it is working normally. However, although I've selected, "Show active protection icon on the system tray" the icon is not displayed and I would like it to be displayed. Does anyone know what the problem may be? This happened to me before and I think I had to roll back the driver but I cannot do this right now since this is a new clean install.
Thank you very much for any help you may be able to provide.

I reinstalled acrobat 8 on my computer but when I try to print to a pdf it states that the program isn't activated.  I tried to install and reinstall it but it still doesn't work.  It shows that it is activated.  I tried to deactivate and reactivate but that doesn't help either.  Everything else seems to work.

    Hi tspcat,
What operating system are you using, and what version? You may be running into a compatibility issue between your older version of Acrobat and the OS that you're running.
Please let us know a bit more about your setup, so we can get to the bottom of this printing issue.

  • ThinkVantage Active Protection for Windows XP, Vista, and 7 missing from driver matrix

Recently, while checking the Software link: http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/documents/ht037696
    I noticed:
    Active Protection System
Like an airbag's sensor, it can detect sudden changes in motion and temporarily stop the hard drive to help protect your valuable data from some crashes that could occur due to everyday notebook accidents.

If you try to follow the links to the ThinkVantage Active Protection System, you are presented with a document labeled: ThinkVantage Active Protection System for Windows 8 (32-bit) - Laptop or a document labeled: ThinkVantage Active Protection System for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) – Notebook
No reference to Windows XP, VISTA or Windows 7 in the current version of the documents, yet the text file pointed to by the download links states that this driver still supports all the older ThinkPads and is applicable to Windows 7 and VISTA. The text file does say that Windows XP support has been withdrawn with this release, and that XP users should use the previous version. It does not, however, provide a link to any document or mechanism where an XP user can obtain the previous driver.
So, is the document correct, or is the text file correct?
Where is the current driver for VISTA and Windows 7?
When I went to the support sites to see the supporting documents there, I discovered that the ThinkVantage Active Protection entries were gone from the R61, R500 and T500 driver matrices. The only reference I could find to the ThinkVantage Active Protection System was in the above mentioned SOFTWARE link.

Still no change to the driver matrices.  ThinkVantage Active Protection is still missing. There has been a change in the web site, as follows:

So now there are numerous separate entries, but none of them claim to support any 'legacy' machines. Most of the above entries point to the same driver (at present).  The puzzling aspect to all this is that if you read the text documents that accompany most of the above driver packages, you will note that the text document claims that the driver supports quite a number of legacy machines. That information just never made it to the web page.
So do I manually update a driver because the text document says it is applicable to my legacy R500, or 'believe' the web page which states that only some current models are supported, but not the R500, T500 or R61.
    Very inconsistant and highly unprofessional.

  • Win 7 Pro.. X60T TPM Driver, Active Protection NO GO!

BIOS has been updated to the latest release (1.15)
The TPM device is recognized in Windows, however there is no driver available for it.
The fingerprint software is installed and works fine; when going past the Power on password and HDD Password, however It seems not to work within windows. I can not find it "installed" under "ThinkVantage" or "Control Panel' either. The program is viewable in "add/remove" programs
Active Protection installs, reboot and nothing available!! It is present under "add/remove" programs but not under "ThinkVantage" or "Control Panel'
There are other issues, but the two above are the "most used" as well as the Screen Rotation.
All "on-screen" display options are working (volume, etc), however the rotation button and the screen "auto-rotation" is not. Got that going, auto-upate will not get MOST DRIVERS. Going to the driver matrix and installing what is available for "Win7" Helped in adding additional button/s functionality and getting the screen roation to work...now if I could get the other two!!!!
If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated...
    Currently own: X220T, X201, X200, T61 X2, X61T X3

Got the Active Protection working...I installed it three times...it is working now.
    For the TPM...
I FORCED the install of this driver "Atmel TPM (Trusted Platform Module)". It can be found here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-58054.html
So far...so good (knocks on wood!)
EDT: I forgot to add! I tried to install the "ThinkVantage Client Security Solutions 8.21" for the TPM issue, it would error out during the install.

  • Active Protection 'abnormal sensor status'

Hi, I'd really appreciate some help. I have just replaced my x61t hard disk (due to hd failure) with a WD Scorpio Black 320 gb.
I installed Active Protection, and it worked OK for hours, but then suddenly it said that it was disabled because the 'system detected abnormal sensor status'. This has happened twice, and each time the laptop was sitting unattended on a table and wasn't moved at all!
The notification recommended doing an AP test using PC Doctor for DOS, but this can only be run from a floppy drive, which I don't have right now. PC Doctor for Windows does not have an AP test function.
I'm worried that this might be connected with the previous disk failure, though I did not get an AP error message then.
Only one other person I can find has reported this error, but with no response from anyone.
Can someone please help me? Is it possible the AP software conflicts with anti-shock protection already built in to the Scorpio? I don't want another disk crash!!!
    Many thanks,

  • Ibm hard drive active protection sensor problem

i have a IBM thinkpad t41, i dun't know why it come out this message "ibm hard drive active protection sensor ", after that it come out ask me to type a password to log in. i never set password at notebook hard drive. pls help me~~urgent!! thanks!!

I think you're right, that does not read clearly.  Furthermore, I believe it may contain an error or two.
If you're installing tp_smapi from AUR (as the page implies), the PKGBUILD should already install the module to the correct location, meaning the build instructions ('make install HDAPS=1'), are redundant.
I'd simply use 'makepkg' and  'pacman -U [...]', as usual.
To load the module correctly, I have:
    /etc/rc.local:
    modprobe tp_smapi
    modprobe thinkpad_ec
    insmod /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/extra/hdaps.ko
    /etc/rc.conf:
    MODULES=([...] !thinkpad_ec !tp_smapi !hdaps [...])
There is probably a cleaner way to do this, though the method described in the wiki results in several errors regarding "Unknown symbol" upon loading the module.  Could anyone confirm or improve upon the above instructions, so that the tp_smapi section could be brought up-to-date?

  • Thinkvantage active protection sensor diagnostics

I dropped my laptop. (ThinkPad T60p)
At Boot time I get the message: Thinkvantage active protection sensor diagnostics.
    Then: hard drive not found.
When I replaced the HD with a new one and tried to re-install the OS from the CD I get the same message:

What is Thinkvantage active protection sensor diagnostics?
How do I fix the problem?

    Hi Eugene-Verne,
While installing Windows from the CD, did you set SATA AHCI to Compatibility mode in the BIOS? If the answer is yes then the hard drive connectors on the laptop may have been damaged due to the fall.
Additionally, you can try running HDD diagnostic program from the BIOS to see whether it is even being detected by the BIOS.
    Hope it helps.

  • Active Protection System Sensor Location

    Hello all,
I am looking to upgrade the hard drive in my T61p, however my only reservation is the active protection system. I would like to keep this feature, and was unsure if the sensor for this was on the Lenovo hard drive itself or if it was elsewhere on the system. I would like to install a Western Digital hard drive and retain the active protection system. Does anyone know if this is a problem?
    Thanks in advance.

the sensor is on the motherboard. and some hdd have an additional sensors on them too.
I have a WD 500 gig in one of mine T61 that i replaced last week, so it works okay.
Any SATA hdd with 9.5 mm thickness and 2.5 inch factor is okay for your laptop.

  • X301: SSD and TV Active Protection System

My X301 came with pre-installed Samsung SSD 128 GB and Think Vantage Active Protection System (TVAPS),
TVAPS is automatically launched at start-up and is always running.
The question is: do I need TVAPS or can I uninstall it?
Why was it pre-installed by Lenovo in a machine with an SSD?

As as after thought; on the X300 there was Diskeeper, not sure about the X301, get rid of that as well if it's there. You definitely don't need it.

  • Active Protection System - Where has my taskbar notification icon gone?

I have T500, and at some stage in the last few weeks I seem to have lost the taskbar notification icon for the Active Protection System. The service is running, and I have re-installed it from a fresh download, but it is still missing!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Peter

    Try again.
    I have a T400 (6474) that I've upgraded to the 'free' copy of Win7.
After downloading SU 4.0, and updating the drivers, guess what - no Thinkvantage Folder on the start menu or icon in the task bar (hidden or not), so your suggestion won't work.  Even if you do a clean install and then run SU do update the drivers, the same thing.  I thought it was the machine, so I tried this on my M55 and T61, no change. It's like Lenovo has coded the packages to look for the old Start Menu location for Win Vista, and not the new location in Win7.
I also have this problem with the Fingerprint software not appearing in a folder - having to plug through folders to find an executable is very poor design.
I certainly hope this gets fixed.
Presently with an X201 and a T500/T410 combo
I've owned everything from a 701c up to present which equal a ton of ThinkPads
