R4388 Sound Blaster(R) Live!(TM) 24-bit Sound Card - Is it ASIO compati

I am trying to configure my computer to allow my husband to run Sibelius (music software) on it. I am upgrading to GB RAM (using XP serv pack 2) and installing another 250GB hard dri've.But I am using the R4388 Sound Blaster(R) Li've!(TM) 24-bit Sound Card and according to the website of Sibelius I need the soundcard to be ASIO compatible, but I don't know if that is?Can anyone here help me, I'd really appreciate the help. I'm happy to upgrade my sound card if necessary.

If your computer has any VIA chipset, and if your computer has any of the following problems, then you might need this driver.
The computer stops ("freezes", "hangs", "locks up"), or makes unusual noises when playing sounds.

The computer stops, or files are corrupted, when copying to or from an IDE DVD, CDROM, or CDRW dri've.

Sounds played by the computer are distorted or have a "crackling" noise.

The computer stops when playing 3D graphics or games, especially on an ATI Radeon series video card

There is a patch for VIA chipset and the patch WORKS for me! Try them at - http://www.georgebreese.com/net/software/ Look under "PCI Latency" patch for VIA chipsets.

• WinFast PVR2000 and Sound Blaster 24bit Live crackl

Hello dear colleagues.
I am monitoring the crackling issue with Sound Blaster cards for some time now.
I have Sound Blaster 24bit Li've sound card. It crackles rarely, every 5-0 minutes maybe one small crackle or peak pop.
When I am recording with Adobe Audition on LINE IN when crackle happens it is not recorded in the main signal so that is ok.
Now, I am using also WINFAST PVR 2000 cad (TV card).
When I am recording COMPOSITE or SVIDEO with WINFAST from time to time there are crackles which are unfortunately recorded inside the file too during the capture.
I am wondering has anyone noticed those crackles with WINFAST and 24bit li've...
I have by the way updated Bios, SIS video card driver, WINFAST PVR driver and Blaster 24 bit driver. They are updated but crackles with WINFAST are also there.
I am wondering is there maybe solution with some kind of latency setting for WINFAST card or Blaster card? They are all set as 32 by default.
Or there are some other solution. Any other WINFAST and 24bit users out there how are noticing similar problem with crackling during COMPOSITE and SVHS capture?

You can also check up this little Knowledgebase article SID4863 guide which may be helpful to you. Of cos, it still depend on the type of connector your TV have.

• Windows 7 64bit and Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium - No rear sound

As the title says I have a sound blaster x-fi titanium running on a windows 7 64bit box. I have downloaded all the latest drivers and tools from creative. The issue is no matter what I do I cannot get the 5. surround working. I have the front 3 speakers working and I can even get it to double the two front side speakers to the rear, but not true 5.. I have tried both DD li've and DTS. I have an Onkyo HT-R550 receiver that supports both DD and DTS and I'm connected over a digital optical cable. Trying to figure this one out!
I've gone through all the modes in the creative audio software and tried all the surround modes on the receiver.
Please help

Ok. I have actually formatted my hard dri've to fix another windows and I'm back where I was. I'm testing using the speaker page in the console. I get great sound from all 3 front speakers and my sub. What I've found when clicking the back two I will get a very quiet but clear test voice through both rear speakers, no matter which side I picked. Also the bass portion of the test comes through the sub as normal. I can't seem to get the rear speakers to test any louder.
I did the surround sound speaker test and it all sounds good (without the PC involved). Also my PS3 plays great surround sound through it using the same optical cable.
I also tried your suggestion with no improvement.
What's next?

• Creative Soundblaster Live! 24-Bit External card - noise in right chan

I have a Creative Soundblaster Li've! 24-Bit External card installed on a Dell XPS 40 with 2GB RAM and Windows XP to replace integrated sound that came with the system, a sound problem developed recently that I never noticed before, there is a popping sound in the right channel which isnt loud but noticeable when no other audio is playing, the sound is a fast popping sound like a idling engine, Ive tried updating the Nvidia video drivers, uninstalling software that may have caused conflicts, looking in the bios, I also tried uninstalling the Creative drivers and before installing the drivers again when the system booted and detected the new hardware I could hear the popping noise without any drivers loaded yet, nothing has helped this problem, does anyone have any suggestions of what is causing the noise? Thanks for any helpMessage Edited by Gary040 on -5-2008 07:38 AM

Yes exactly as you mentioned. I have SoundBlaster Li've! 24-Bit Internal and facing the same problem. All is working very good, but only sound in WOW is terrible: it's muffled, degraded and seems to runs only in 22khz.
It is a big irony because i bought this card only for WoW to replace my onboard card and now the old one sounds much better in WoW as the new SB
Anyone with help?
Now it seems that I return my card like you... and people from creative, think about it! WoW is most played game ever!Message Edited by magnetique on 0-06-2006 :24 AM

• Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Zs Platinum Pro sound distorti

Hi,First I have tried searching the forum but not found anything helpfull. My setup:?Soundblaster Audigy 2 Zs Platinum ProAsus K8V-VMCambridge megaworks 550 (or similiar name) speakers?anyway, i've just put the above motherboard in as my old one died. Both motherboards have had the same distortion problem. I used to be able to combat it by using the CD provided and put more sound through the back speakers as by default it seems to put everything through the front. This would lessen the distortion and make listening to things bare able but my onboard sound would still be better then my dedicated card. Has anyone found a proper fix for this as a lot of people seem to have trouble with this card?
I would like to add I had this problem from day !! and for a audio setup that cost me ?400 that shouldnt be happening!!! (a long time ago)

• Surround in games (Z5500 & SB Live! 24-bit, digital o

Hello! I got a problem and have searched for it in many forums.
Maybe it's just bad searching skills.
I got a Logitech Z-5500 and Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit sound card.
Using digital out. But I can't get surround in games. I have the latest drivers and surround sound works when playing dvds (SPDIF).
Do anyone know how to get the surround working in games.
The games I've tried is BF2 and The Matrix: Path of Neo.
Thanks!

Indeed you're bad at searching :smileytongue:

• Windows 7 - 64 Bit Driver Needed For Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Model SB0100

I am having trouble finding a working driver for Windows 7 - 64 Bit for a Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Audo Card Model# SB000
I downloaded driver file SBL_PC64DRVBETA_LB_2_03_0005.exe which I think is a 64 Bit Sound Blaster Li've! update, but Windows 7 does not allow it to be installed because it is not a digitally signed driver. It also seems Creative is no longer supporting these old cards with new driver updates.
I love the card though. I have bought more recent sound cards and the sound of this card is still much better than the more recent sound cards I have bought. So I would like to keep using it if possible.
Are there any driver solutions?

I recently answered about the same question:
If you?use Vista or Windows7, then there is no official driver. You can only use alternati've drivers like Vista Support Pack by Daniel_K or the one from KXProject (better). But if you have more than 2 gigs of memory installed or an x64 OS, then both drivers will be half-working (as far as I remember, Daniel's driver won't work with more than 2 Gb of memory installed in any OS, and with KX-driver there will only be a problem with MIDI playback with more than 2 Gb AND x64 Win7).

• Issue with Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit driver

,Issue with Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit driverw Hello, I have a 2004 Dell Dimension DIM900 and a couple months ago it began making a loud crackling noise sporadically. It sounds like real ear-piercing static, like when a microphone is being plugged in, only in short random bursts at alternating pitches so I originally thought my speakers were blown. I turned them off and decided to use a headphone set only to hear the same annoying sound.
I looked in the sound settings and read that I have a Sound Blaster 24-bit internal driver in my system, assuming that information is correct.
What can I do? I did the search and read the read on those X-Fi drivers that had a similar problem, but I didn't know if that was the same as this because the thread concluded that their problem was exclusi've to systems with Nvidia dual SLI graphic configurations and X-Fi drivers. ? Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi IT5,
May I know if this Li've! 24bit came pre-installed on your Dell computer or did you purchase & install the sound card separately?

• Sound blaster Live!24 bit on li

hello,
my mainboard has sound blaster Li've!24 bit.
but my fedora core find :
Creative
model: Labs SB audigy LS
module snd-ca006
When I click on the button "sound" I can't hear a sound and It says I won't be able to hear music on this pc. I looked for some drivers for linux but I can't find any on this site.
Is there someone who can solve my problem

Fedora is horrible. Pretty much any dist is better. Knoppix seems to have great hardware detection, so download the latest Knoppix CD and see if you can get sound detecting. If so, then install any Debian-based Linux and use ALSA to setup your soundcard.

• Installation CD for Creative Sound Blaster Live 24-bit External SB0490

Hi,
I've bought this old external soundcard without the original installation CD, because I thought I can download all needed software here on the creative site. But no, only the drivers and some simple program updates are available :-(. With the creative drivers installed, I only get hacked sound on the digital coax output, SPDIF is also not working correctly. I suppose I have to do some configuration in the creative suite software, but this suite can only be installed from the original installation CD...
Is here somebody who can tell me where I can download an ISO of this CD or perhaps make an upload of it?
Kind Regards
Steven

HRe: Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit External (SB0490) choppy background sound? I've been having the same problem with mine. ?At first, all it would take is unplug the laptop end of the USB, wait a second, then plug it back in. ?A sound (incoming mail, reminder, general Windows sound) had to initiate the sound. ?It's almost like a CD skipping, but the sound played has no bearing on the popping sound. ?It's always the same pitch, timing, etc. no matter the sound that caused it.
I've blue screened a couple of times too over the past couple of weeks. ?I've only been able to catch 'USB' during the blue screen before it reboots, so I don't have a code number to chase down.
I'm using Windows Vista Premium Edition on a Gateway laptop that's about two years old. ?I'm being lazy, and not looking, but I'm pretty sure it's got a .6GHz DualCore proc, I upped the RAM to 2GB, I had to replace the HDD and I honestly don't recall the brand.
It's gotten to the point now that even unplugging and then replugging doesn't really affect it anymore. ?I know that I've updated the driver a couple of times. ?The first time Vista whined about it. ?Going to see if there's a more current version, but I don't really have any further help or suggestions.
Hopefully something will come up.
