R500 LCD calble 93P4449 specification ?

Hi,
I have Lenovo R500 laptop type 2716-CTO. Now lcd display is damaged and when I'm looking parts in internet find some interesting themes like http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/R-and-L-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Change-display-type-at-R500/td-p/211791/... and http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/R-and-L-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Trouble-Changing-LCD-on-R500-New-Screen-... . After reading them decide to upgrade my lcd, now wxga resolution, and find full hd display second hand on good price. But specification at support site says WXGA - 93P4547,  WSXGA+ - 93P4551, but my lcd cable is 93P4449 (foxconn manufactured), which does not match any specs. So my question is whether my cable compatible with wsxga+ lcd displays or not. Thanks in advance.

93P4449 is the same as 93P4547, for WXGA plus webcam and Bluetooth.
93P4551 is for WSXGA+ plus webcam and Bluetooth.
These cables can all be used on 15.4" R500 and R61 models.
WARNING: lots of eBayers and other sellers got it all wrong!

  • T400 LCD TFT display specifications

    Hey everyone,
    I was wondering if anyone would have on hand or know where to find information on the display specifications for the T400 LCD TFT display (WXGA, LED backlight).
    Specifically I'm looking for:
    Model Name/Manufacturer:
    Display area:
    Pixel Pitch:
    Synchronization
    Horizontal: (kHz)
    Vertical: (Hz)
    Display Color: (24bit, 16bit)
    Cheers,
    J

    Welcome to the forum!
    Do I understand correctly that you bought a complete new LCD Assembly? Do you have proof from the seller that it was working properly before you bought it?
    Can you see a picture if you use a torchlight over the panel?
    A faint dark picture could be a defective LCD cable, inverter/LED card or a defective LCD backlight. Since you see a picture I would rule out a motherboard fuse problem.
    Edit: Richk was faster!

  • FrameMaker and LCD Monitors

    Hello,
    Just wanted to get your thoughts/opinion(s) as writers in using FrameMaker on LCD monitors. Specifically, I've used word processing and desktop publishing programs on CRT monitors for years. I've never had any problems whatsoever. Recently, my employer provided me with a 20 inch widescreen LCD monitor. I'm now having a difficult time with it because of the higher resolution (e.g., headaches and the like). As you all know, a lower resolution only distorts or stretches desk on LCD monitors (which is why I guess I've avoided these monitors for so long). Please note, I have bad eyesight and wanted to see if others may have ideas to address this issue. I've given the monitor two weeks and things haven't improved. I'm just concerned/frustrated because I know the world is going in the direction of LCD monitors.
    For a solution, I've thought about a square like LCD monitor; maybe at 17 inches to address the problem. But I'm wondering if I'll still be at the mercy of the native resolution. Just to let you know, I've tried all the display scenarios to address the problem (i.e., appearance, settings, dpi) without success. Just miss the 800/600 resolution I had in the past due to my bad eyesight.
    Any ideas or thoughts are most appreciated. Thank you very much for your time.
    Paul

    Paul...
    Here are some ramblingthoughts on your issue. They expand on the good advice you've already received, and thus do not dispute what others have said.
    Make certain your drivers for the graphics card are the latest and greatest. This is the first step you should take. You probably have already done that. If not, go do it. But check the next paragraph first.
    If your graphics card has a DVI output, by all means use it. If it doesn't, opt for a different graphics card, preferably one with two DVI outputs, known as a dual-head graphics card. I address this again below.
    Life is too short to drink cheap wine. It's also too short to spend a professional career working with inadequate computing resources, especially when you consider the cost of the capital outlay versus the salaries and the wasted time fooling around trying to make things right. If your employer has artificial limits on spending, go make a business case for better gear.
    You already seem to understand the concept of the monitor's native resolution. High resolution monitors are best for image processing, when programs like Photoshop are used to edit photographic images. For text-based work, they're the wrong way to go, as you've discovered. Part of the problem is that many web pages and all operating systems seem to be stuck with a one-size-fits-all set of icons, menus, page sizes and the like. With Windows, you get two choices of text size, but those choices don't apply to all text instances and only in the operating system, not in the applications that run on top of the application. So driving a high resolution monitor at its native resolution results in tiny text, icons and the like. I get some email messages that I cannot read because the very popular marketing company that creates them uses what must be 4 point typefaces.
    I have dual 20.5" Samgung monitors with 1600x1200 native resolution on two of my workstations. They're beautiful monitors, but I would trade even-up for the same monitor with 1280x960 native resolution. One thing that's nice about LCDs, by the way, is this. If you get ones that pivot clock- or counter-clockwise, and many do, you can easily run them in portrait mode by rotating them and changing the settings for the driver. My FrameMaker workstation has one monitor set to landscape orientation and the other to portrait mode. Try setting a 17" CRT on its sidegood luck!
    LCD monitors will ONLY look their best when the image is displayed at their native resolution, or perhaps in some cases, at a submultiple of the native resolution. For example, a 1600x1200 monitor might look OK when the graphics card is set to 800x600. In my case, that makes the icons and windows appear too large, though. Something in-between is best for me. I doubt, however, that you have a 840x525 choice, but if you do, try it.
    Sheila asks about your video cable. An LCD monitor *should* be driven by a graphics card with a DVI (digital) output. Otherwise, the signal must be converted to analog (VGA) and back to digital for display purposes. Since the image is inherently digital to begin with, converting to analog video and then back to digital has its obvious drawbacks. I'm not sure if a modern graphics card can properly identify the connected monitor though a VGA cableit's been so long since I used a CRT and a VGA card that I've forgotten.
    A CRT monitor also has a "native resolution" based on the pitch of the phosphor triads and the shadow mask in the tube. Because that was an analog interfaced world, and CRTs are relatively "soft" compared to LCDs, the effects of non-native scan rates and resolution settings were not as troublesome or as obvious as they are for LCD screens. Once you get the settings right on your LCD display, though, you will NEVER consider going back to a CRT display.
    It's probably too late to lobby for this, but if I were you, I would strive to get a "dual-head" graphics card, one with two DVI outputs, and put two identical monitors side-by-side. Once you've experienced a dual-monitor setup, you will never be happy with just one screen.
    Setting the graphics card resolution for a 16:10 aspect ratio in any other than the native resolution of the monitor will result in "aliasing" artifacts, which may be what you mean by "distortion." The simplistic way to describe the aliasing effect is that some elements of a character inevitably fall in the "cracks" between pixels. When the image resolution setting matches the native resolution, the video data from the card "lines up" perfectly with the pixels, giving the most accurate representation. The other type of distortion that you may be referring to is due to a mismatch of the aspect ration associated with an image resolution setting versus the aspect ratio of the screen. In such situations, a "truly" round circle would appear elliptical on the screen. This is what Winifred is describing. You cannot expect acceptable results with any graphics card setting whose resolution aspect ratio is , relative to the display, mismatched. You must use a setting that corresponds to the 16:10 ratio.
    Another way to understand the artifacts associated with aliasing is to imagine viewing a checkerboard through a piece of wire fencing with a square pattern laid on top of it. When the size of the squares in the fencing material are the same as the checkboard squares, you can make things line up and see all of the checkerboard. If the screen wire is a different size, then there's no way to place the wire over the checkerboard without covering some of the squares with wirethat is, unless the pattern in the fence is twice the size of the square, ot four times, and so on.

  • Analog and DVI-D input

    Hi all
    I'm looking to add a Samsung 22" Syncmaster LCD monitor that specifies analog & DVI-D input. My Mac mini has DVI input. Can a DVI-D input work on my Mac mini and/or G4 agp tower?
    Jim

    The short answer is yes. You might have better luck with the mini than your old tower Mac. The old tower pre-dates the era of 1680 x 1050 resolution as is used on a 22" monitor. The tower Mac may not output that timing.

  • [ADF-11.1.2] Dynamic EO/VO/Association/View Link/pagedef/JSPX XML Def files

    I though I found gold but it has nothing when I clicked on it.
    Steve Muench's "Not Yet Documented Examples" [http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/resource/examples] > "Using ViewObject writeXML and JSTL XML Tag Library" suppose to provide the example. but I am getting File not found error. Seems the sample application doesn't exists any more.
    Please point me to correct example for my following use case:
    At Run-time:
    1. My Application will ask user for database table name.
    2. for provided database table name, my application should Generate XML Definition file for EO, Associations, VO and View Links inside Model Project (basically all definition file should be created which gets created when developer create these Business Components for database table through JDeveloper Studio).
    3. Once done, application should also generate JSPX file using ADF page template in ViewController Project, with binding definition to it's corresponding newly generated VO Objects from step 2.
    4. The page will be then, visible to user to use it (create/update/delete records)
    First of all, is it possible to achieve above requirement ? Based on description of Steve Muench's "Using ViewObject writeXML and JSTL XML Tag Library", I think it is possible, but I don't have the sample application to refer.
    I could have used dynamic view object concept to display the records with basic page layout. But I want users the ability to modify the create/records/delete the records with following requirements:
    1. If require, Business Logic Developer can use Jdeveloper Studio to access new generated Business Components and modify it (like adding some validation rules)
    2. If require, UI Developer can access newly generated JSPX file and change the layout.
    Please let me know how much and how can I achieve it ?

    Shay,
    Thank you for your reply. I will take a look at your links.
    Use Case:
    Application will have different BC for different IT Assets (like Monitor, Keyboard, Servers etc), which will basically hold records for all available Assets (like Display Resolution, screen size etc for all monitor in Monitor BC).
    I want to give user; the ability to create, for e.g., the sub-class of Monitor to store more specific attribute-values in different table (which will be linked Parent BC). For e.g.: They may want to care about holding CRT and LCD Monitor records in separate new database table -- Application will ask user what all attributes/Columns they want to see for LCD which is specific to this type AND which is not present in already existing out-of-box Monitor BC/Table - e.g. - "Viewing Angle" Attribute).
    With that said, I can write code to create database table on fly (having 1-to-1 foreign key reference to parent table) but writing ADF part seems difficult. I also wanted application to automatically generate new page for newly added VO BC. E.g.: LCD-Monitor.JSPX inheriting all attributes from monitor (parent VO) in the same structure as Monitor.JSPX file is having with extra LCD-specific Attributes in separate panel tab (which again UI developers can customized it).
    Too much to expect huh !
    I am going to start building the application so If not above way, any other suggestion to achieve the requirement ?

    Hello,
    Recently, I have started working on ADF and till now I found 2 scroll bar issues with Oracle ADF.

    2. Setting Table "columnStretching" brings dummy scroll bar : [ADF-11.1.2] Setting Table "columnStretching" brings dummy scroll bar
    I beleive that these two are scroll bar related Bugs but what I understand from ?messageID=9773962 that since I don't have support contract, I can't file a bug.
    I have created this thread so that responsible people can take actions accordingly.

  • Brand new ipod cracked. no damage to case...

    So what gives here, I've owned several ipods, starting at the beginning with the 5g, a couple of weeks after they came out.
    So my wife buys me a black 60g G5 ipod, engraved, for our anniversary, and I pick it up after having it at work with me for the last 2 days, not being used at all, and the lcd is obviously damaged. I didn't do anything to this ipod. I babied it. I kept it in the sleeve so the ridiculously soft plastic wouldn't get scratched. I kept it there all the time. So how does this happen?
    I have applecare. I immediately register it. Then I go to the ipod site to make a service ticket online. I then see that lcd damage is specifically excluded from the warranty, including from applecare.
    It's 7:30 mst here, so the apple service line is closed for the evening.
    I'm so bummed now, I can't believe it.
    Before this gets locked or deleted, I might just mention that I'm a stockholder...
    I will call first thing in the morning, my 18 month old will see to that.

    Called Apple, they are exchanging it.
    I read about a liberal exchange policy regarding G5 iPods, I guess they aren't kidding.
    Now i need to look for some BOMBER protection for the replacement.
    Well done Apple, except for making this iPod so ridiculously thin.
    I'd rather have one as thick as my g4 60g photo iPod and have it be as tough as that one to boot.
    The way people use their iPods, they need to be durable to be a portable appliance. I'm glad I have my old 60g iPod photo around to use in day to day activities.
    I'm not sure if I can take the new one snowboarding, etc.
    All in all a positive experience nonetheless.

  • Portege R500 connection to Toshiba 19AV505D LCD TV

    I want to connect my Portege R500 laptop to a Toshiba 19AV505D LCD TV.
    I have tried using a VGA to HDMI cable and altering the screen resolution to 800x600 and 16bit colour but it still won't recognise the tv.
    Any ideas?
    TheTV manual says use a DVI to HDMI cable and I tried this first with a VGA converter (as there is no DVI socket on the R500) but it didn't work either.
    Would a SCART to VGA cable work?

    What VGA->HDMI adapter are you using?
    What version HDMI does it support?
    Maybe the TV requires HDMI v1.2 or v1.3 (check the users manual)

  • Hooking iMac 20" To 42" LCD (Specific LCD Brand)

    Good Morning,
    I would love you guys to help me today!
    I just bought a new iMac 20" as well as a Dynex 40" 1080dpi LCD HDTV.
    I would love to hook up my iMac dispay to the LCD screen.
    I've scanned through the forum to get a better idea of how to connect an LCD which does not have a DVI port, but found no answers.
    I would need to know which adapters to buy, as well as which cables, and how to connect the two, to have both Image and Sound.
    I've attached my TV specifications to get a more accurate answer, as i assume you guys know what are the iMac 20" specifications.
    * 2 built-in, bottom-mount 12W stereo speakers; volume leveler prevents volume fluctuations and is ideal for night viewing.
    * Inputs: 2 HDMI, 1 S-video, 2 component video, 1 composite video, 1 PC and RF antenna
    * Outputs: 1 A/V, optical digital audio and headphone
    * HDMI Inputs: 2
    * DVI Inputs: No
    * S-Video Inputs: 1
    * Component Video Inputs: 2
    * Composite Inputs: 1
    * PC Inputs: 1
    * RF Antenna Input: 1
    * Headphone Jacks: Yes
    * A/V Outputs: 1
    * Audio Outputs: 2
    * Watts/Channel: 12
    I would appriciate a detailed answer as soon as you can
    Thanks.
    J

    2 HDMI, 1 S-video
    you can use these ports with adaptors for the mini-DVI output on your imac.
    get a mini dvi->dvi adapter
    and a dvi->hdmi
    this should work and i dont see why it wouldnt.
    You wont be able to get sound on your tv from the imac without a audio controller or unless it has 3.5mm (normal) sound input, which it usually does if it has a VGA plug socket
    PC Inputs: 1
    I dont know if this means it has the VGA plug on it, but you can also get an adapter for this too.
    Youre best bet is to get a Audio/Video Controller or something along those lines or a sound system with optical capabilities.
    You could connect teh 3.5mm optical jack on the imac to the controller and ditto with the TV
    depending on where you get it, these adapters can run you about 5$-35$
    av control centers or compete sound systems will definetly run you over 200$ but you wont get sound without it.

  • Portege R500 - Switch view from laptop screen to LCD projector

    Hello - new here, urgent request. We are having a meeting and I am using the Portege R500 for the first time with LCD Projector which is also a Toshiba.
    How do I switch the view from the laptop screen to the projector screen? I thought it was Function F5 (Fn F5) but it isn't working.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi
    Yes, you have to use the FN+F5 to switch to the external monitor or to external projector, etc
    Firstly you have to connect the notebook with projector while the both devices are off.
    After you have connected the projector you could power up the notebook.
    Then try to switch to external projector using the FN+F5 key combination

  • Is there any recall notices on MacBook Pro A1226 specifically for the LCD displays?

    I have a MacBook Pro A1226 that the display has the color fades to b/w negative on 2/3rds of the screen but I can fix this by applying light pressure to the lower right of the screen. The last time I had a display problem it turned out the Video card had gone bad and I took it into the Genius Bar and found out the Video card had a recall on it and they fixed it for free.  I wanted to check this out before buying and installing a new display if I don't have to. I don't have time to take it to the Apple store and thought I would see if anyone knew here.  Any Ideas?

    This is the only Repair Extenstion Program that affects the A1226:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
    Seeing if you qualify for this one DOES mean a trip to an Apple Store or AASP as they have a specific hardware-based test they perfrom to see if the video chipset has failed.
    There is one diagnostic check you can do at home to see if the chipset is toast. Open System Profiler in Applications > Utilities and, when it opens, select "Graphics/Displays" from the left-hand "Contents" pane. That should display this in the main pane )rom my A1226):
    The fourth line, "PCIe Lane Width" should read "x16" as in the example. If it says anything else (usually "x1") your Nvidea 8600M GT has likely gone walkabout. Note that a proper reading does not necessarily mean your chipset is OK. The definitive test is still in the hands to the Apple techs.

  • Outputting DVI to HDMI input in LCD TV versus using the DVI to RGB ?

    I am thinking of buying a mac mini to connect to a Toshiba 20HL85 TV in the lounge primarily to act as a "media server" and accessing Front Row for music, photo's, DVD watching etc. The question is which connection to use to go from the mini to the TV for Video (audio is fine as it will route into my AV Receiver)? The TV has an HDMI input, component video, s-video and a VGA port. The user manual for the TV says:
    Note: The HDMI jack is not intended for connection to and should not be used with a personal computer. For PC connection, use VGA cable and connect to the VGA port. The VGA port allows the following resolutions:
    Monitor Display modes:
    VGA 640x480 60Hz
    SVGA 800x600 56.3Hz
    SVGA 800x600 60.3Hz
    XGA 1024x768 60Hz
    WXGA 1280x720 60Hz
    WXGA 1280x768 60Hz
    I wanted to know a few things as I have no experience with the MAC mini and HDMI:
    1. Will I not get a better/crisper/sharper picture if I connect through a digital port like HDMI versus going through the VGA port?
    2. I have checked a few LCD TV's user manuals and they all seem to say the same thing i.e. "Do not connect a PC to the HDMI port" - I fail to understand this when the Apple site specifically says under "accessories for the MAC mini" that "HDMI is electrically similar to DVI, but has a different physical connector that may include an audio signal. You’ll need a DVI to HDMI adapter, such as the Belkin PureAV HDMI to DVI cable to use these televisions".
    3. What am I missing? Should I just go ahead and buy the DVI to HDMI cable and MAC mini and plug it in i.e. has anyone done this and had it work? Is it better than VGA (I would hope so)?
    Bottom line is does the MAC mini connect to any TV with an HDMI port or are there different types of HDMI ports and hence I need to search for the right TV first? If so, what must I look for? Thanks for any help I can get.
    Power Mac G5 Dual 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    One word of advice. I just hooked up my mini to my 32" Lowe HD TV using a DVI to HDMI cable and it doesn't just work. The native resolution of the TV is not available for whatever reason so I have to bodge another resolution which looks terrible. When I plug my powerbook in via a DVI to VGA connector it just does work selecting the correct resolution automatically.
    Either the problem lies with the mini or with connecting to the HDMI socket. As the HDMI is simply a dvi with audio I can't see why it would cause problems but who knows. Given all the other problems I am currently having with the mini I am pointing the finger in that direction currently.

  • LCD native resolution not available in system preferences

    I need to set my resolution to 1680 x 1050 and that resolution is not vailable. I have a original G4 Mac Mini with Tiger. The monitor has dual inputs for both VGA and DVI, sometimes it will work with the VGA input but not consistantly.
    I need to use the DVI input now to leave the VGA input free for my KVM.
    I have tried Zapping my PRAM multiple times, starting the Mini with the monitor unplugged, swapping between the DVI and VGA inputs on the LCD monitor, and swapping between my old CT monitor and the new LCD. None of this works.
    The LCD always detects as "LCD Display".
    I have been unable to find information on where the monitor resolutions are stored, one thing which I would have liked to try would be manually editing the file to the correct resolution.
    What else can I try?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Brian, sorry about your issue- it's frustrating isn't it? The file you need to edit is in system > library > frameworks > IOKit.frameworks > Versions > A > Resources, and it's called IOGraphicsProperties.plist. If you activate the root user temporarily using the NetInfo Manager, you can edit the file with textedit, save it to the desktop, then drag it into the Resources folder to replace. When you look in the file, you'll see the following:
    <key>gtf-resolutions</key>
    <array>
    <integer>640</integer>
    <integer>800</integer>
    <integer>1024</integer>
    <integer>1280</integer>
    <integer>50332928</integer>
    <integer>67110144</integer>
    <integer>1344</integer>
    <integer>1400</integer>
    <integer>1600</integer>
    <integer>1920</integer>
    <integer>2304</integer>
    </array>
    <key>gtf-resolutions-wide</key>
    <array>
    <integer>640</integer>
    <integer>800</integer>
    <integer>31458128</integer>
    <integer>1024</integer>
    <integer>1280</integer>
    <integer>67110144</integer>
    <integer>50333008</integer>
    <integer>1600</integer>
    <integer>1920</integer>
    <integer>2304</integer>
    I had the same problem as you. I bought an Acer 22" widescreen, with a native resolution of 1680 x 1050, which wasn't "available" in the displays control panel. After some swearing and lamenting the olden days in OS9 when you could just willy nilly see all the resolutions, i added my resolution the this file and it showed up in the control panel. You'll have to monkey with it to see how it works, but basically you're going to add another 'integer' line, like so:
    <integer>1680</integer>
    If this is too hairy for you, or just too much trouble, i highly recommend SwitchRes. It works perfectly for this problem, and you can input the specifications for your monitor exactly and it will install the resolution so that it's available to the system. Its cheap too.
    good luck to you!
