R5770 Hawk and Win7 aero effects

Just purchased used R5770 Hawk and after installing latest drivers and catalyst panel have lost Windows7 Aero glass effects.
Replaced the card w/my previous (Nvidia 9800GT) and Aero re-appeared. Reinstalled the 5770 and don't seem to be able to get Aero.
Searched and searched and it looks like I might be the only person to experience this.
Can anyone help? Is it a setting?

Use >>Driver Fusion<< in Safe Mode to remove current VGA drivers.
Then install latest drivers from MSI: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R5770-Hawk.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win7%2064
Try again

  • Oracle reports builder and Win7 aero theme

    Hi,
I did sucessfully instaled Oracle reports builder 10gR2 (e.g. Oracle Developer Suite 10gR2 and patch 10.1.2.3) on Win7 x64 Enterprize. There was a few workarounds, but it is now ok.
Everything works just fine now, but that blink and baloon message that came on change of color sheme to Windows classic is annoying! Every time I run the Report Builder, windows is forced to change the Aero scheme ti Classic. OK, I figgured out, that if I do not use Aero, this is not an issue anymore. For me it's ok, but other developers in our company will not be glad :)
The same problem persist at Oracle SQL developer, but there is a solution for it with little change in "sqldeveloper.conf" file "AddVMOption -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true" .
Is there any similar setting for Report builder too?
    I would be werry appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    Have you used 64-bit binaries?
Here are the steps that you need to make sure you have accomplished themL
1- JDK 64 bits to be used
2- wls1036_generic.jar (java -jar wls1036_generic.jar) or wls1035_generic.jar . It is mandatory to use java from a 64 bits distribution. Using java 32 bits will cause problems.
    3- ofm_frmrpts_win_11.1.2.0.0_64_disk1_1of1.zip
An workaround is offered in the following thread:

  • T420s not getting Windows 7 Aero effect with newest 8.15.10.2769 Intel HD Graphics driver

Updated with the lenovo update tool to the newes Graphics driver.
Now i do not see the Aero effect in Windows 7.
My Machine: 4170CTO with Intel Graphics
When running the Win7 Aero effect troubleshooting tool it says that the "color depth is set too low".
When trying to open up the Intel graphics panel it will not show the GUI.
Opening the Lenovo ThinkVantage tool it will not show on the screen as well.
    And the PC is slower.
I am happy to roll back to a previous driver version, however do not know how to get access to one.
    Thanks, R.

    Hey Robohofo,
I'm glad you were able to fix your computer, though its never fun to have to do a Clean wipe to get an issue fixed. Though I know this is late maybe if you come across this issue again one other thing you could do is Un-install the driver and then Re-install it.
    Best Regards,

  • Windows Aero Effects

    Hi everyone :)
My problem is that the Aero effects are not working. Currently, windows is running Windows 7 basic theme. The problem occurred on 9th of January 2015 when I was downloading a file and several problems happened (the file wouldn't download, the laptop became
slower), i figured it might have been a virus so i ran an antivirus and system cleaner but still that didn't solve the problem. My laptop is running Windows 7 Ultimate and is up for the minimum system requirements and the Aero effects were working perfectly
    fine before.
I tried many solutions but none of them worked, including :-
1- Trying to restart Desktop Window Manager which didn't change a thing.
2- Tried running the troubleshooting wizard which pointed out the problem (Desktop Window Manager is disabled) but was useless when it came to actually solve the problem.
3- System restore which restored my laptop's settings to 9th Jan 2015 (and that was the furthest thing it could return to) but the problem was still there.
4- I tried updating my Intel graphic driver.
5- I tried many other solutions which were presented on this thread: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/a5ec19b3-4cea-43ab-8ca8-509ef60578b4/windows-aero-no-longer-worksfixed
I ran out of options and i'm considering doing a format but i'm not sure if this is gonna fix the problem or not. Are there other solutions I can try? Do you have any other suggestions?
    Thanks in advance :)

    Hi,
Based on my research, this problem can also relate with these Windows componments and settings below:
    1. Register the following dll files
                Regsvr32  udwm.dll
                Regsvr32  milcore.dll
    2. Group Policy, make sure following policy was disabled or unconfigured
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Desktop WindowManager\ "Do not allow desktop composition"
    3. Check the following registry keys:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition                   set to 1
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy           set to 2
    4. Download and Install latest Java Runtime Environment from
    http://www.java.com/en/
If problem persists, maybe we have to make system restore to revert your system to a former normal time point to fix this problem.

  • Questions about my MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770 and my Dell Studio 7100

Ok, I have had this card installed for about a year now. From the beginning Catalyst Control Center had given me error messages, "Catalyst Control Centre: Host application has stopped working. Windows is checking for solutions" every time I start the machine or every time I try to use the Catalyst Control Center. This has not been a problem because I have been using a 2 monitor system using the DVI port from on and the HDMI to Display Port adapter to the second larger monitor (if I went straight HDMI I can't change the settings and I end up with a 1 inch black border around the desktop and the outer edge of the 23" monitor,) so I just worked around with the HDMI to DVI. Well now I am trying to hook up three monitors. One to the Display port through a Displayport to DVI, one to the HDMI through the HDMI to DVI and one to the Display port. No matter what I try to do through the Windows display control panel, I can not get the displayport monitor (which ever is hook to that port) to display. Windows 7 does detect all three monitors, but it will not allow me to "extend the desktop" to the third monitor and I still can't get the Catalyst Control Center to work.
I have uninstalled all files from ATI or AMD that involve the video and reinstalled the latest drivers and software, but the Catalyst Control center still is not running.
If you could help me with this it would be great. I am a graphics designer and web designer/developer and not a hardware or software tech and I have been googling and trying different possible answers since yesterday morning.
    My graphics card is
MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770
    My computer is
Dell Studio XPS 7100, AMD Athlon IIX4 630 Processor 2.80 GHz
    8 gb
    64-bit operating system
I am attempting to hook up a LG W2361 to the HDMI through HDMI to DVI adapter (presently working) at 1920 x 1080
an LG W1952 (at 1440 x 900) through the DVI port to DVI (presently working) and
an old Samsung SyncMaster 170t  to the Displayport through a the adapter (not working) monitor is detected but it will not allow the extend desktop to be applied.
Hope someone can help, thanks in advance for just reading all of this.

Just incase anyone runs into a similar problem. I figured it out.
Somehow in one of either the ATI driver updates or in a Microsoft update, my drivers and software was contaminated. I deleted all software and drivers for the card, which I had already tried several times. But this time I went into safe mode used CCcleaner in safe mode and cleared the register of all entries. I then reloaded and the Catalyst Control center and it works fine now.
The problem with the three monitors seems to be that the one hooked to the displayport, if you are using more than 2 monitors, must be hooked to an active displayport adapter. I was using a passive adapter. So either I need to buy a very expensive adapter or.....maybe a new monitor that uses displayport.
Hopefully this will help someone else having this issue.

  • I have a t61 thinkpad and after update to w7 ultimate I can't get aero effects

I have tried everything and I can't get aero effects to work. I updated all of the graphics drivers, and anything else the internet had to offer and I got nothing. There is a possibility though. I have a windows old folder from all the files I had from xp. Would that affect it? If not other suggestions?

    Hello,
What is the model type of your ThinkPad T61?  That should be on a label on the bottom of the unit and look something like 1234-ABC.
Try running the ThinkVantage System Update software followed by the Microsoft Update to make sure the system is up-to-date with respect to all ThinkPad-specific software as well as any Windows 7 components, including optional and low-priority updates.  After all those are complete, are you then able to switch Aero effects on for graphics?

  • X3100 does not support Aero effects on Windows 7 (VMware Fusion)?

It is a shame that from the moment apple moved on from Intel GMA X3100 chipset to the newest Nvidia 9400, drivers are not being developed so that Win 7 users on Vmware can have the full OS experience regarding the Aero effects. Certainly, I did not expect to do any hardcore gaming when I purchased my macbook, but to feel that a little over a year after I spent 1,150 euros, this machine in terms of graphics is somewhat obsolete or just old to say the least is just infuriating. I am only hoping that if enough people happen to have the same feeling of disappointment and post it, they'll think it over and they'll provide us with some sort of drivers update to our X3100 graphics card in order to be albe to run Aero effects on our virtual machine.

  • Installed MSI R5770 Hawk but PC says: HD 3200

Hello to all. I just purchased and installed A MSI R5770 HAWK video card. I installed all the software and everything looks good, but after I finnished the install through the ATI Catalyst manager, I clicked on "View log" and it said: Hardware info=   ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics
Did I do something wrong? I believe that the HD3200 is the on-board graphics(maybe). What should I do to get the most out of this GPU?? I do have monitor hooked up threw the HDMI on the card and I have good pic., I just thought that the Hardware should say: "ATI HD5770 " shouldn't it?
By the way I did search the forms before I posted, just in case you notice that this is my first post. Many Thanks, >>>>RiZ<<<<<

Yes, the HD3200 is integrated and not related to MSI R5770 HAWK
So the 5770 is not detected by the system or?
Have you checked in device manager? Is it listed there?

  • Vista Aero Effect

Hi, I restored my W500 back to factory content, and found out the Aero effect, which gives the windows and taskbar a transparent look, is gone.  I went to "window color and appearance," but I could not find a color scheme that says "Windows Vista Aero."  Since it worked before I restored it, It's obviously not the hardware's problem.  What is it then?  Thanks all.

I think I have opened the sobig.f virus in my hotmail account and it keeps seding emails to my contacts. How do I stop it, and will it effect any of my other transactions like internet banking/shopping, is it safe To continue using my ipad ?

This isn't due to malware. There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPad that has not been jailbroken (ie, hacked to allow apps from outside the App Store).
As lizdance40 says, your Hotmail account has been hacked remotely. Change the password immediately. Hotmail accounts are popular targets, but as long as you choose a good password, and make sure that password is not the same as a password you use with any other account, you should be safe.
I disagree with lizdance40's statement that you have to abandon the account and create a new e-mail address. If a hacker is able to get back in even after changing the password, the problem is not with the account itself. There's another vulnerability of some kind somewhere. Perhaps the account allows hackers to leave a "back door" to get back in (such as with GMail's delegation feature), in which case any such feature needs to be reviewed and have settings changed. Perhaps you are checking mail in an insecure manner while on an insecure network (ie, a wireless network that requires no password). Perhaps you are using a password on multiple accounts, and a different account has been compromised. Perhaps a hacker has used knowledge gained by prior access to your account to achieve "social hacking" (ie, convincing a tech to give him access because he has "forgotten the password"). There are many scenarios, but there's no good reason to abandon the account entirely.

  • Share iTunes Library between OSX and Win7 Bootcamp

I've done quite a bit of research on this but I still haven't found a solution that does what I require.
Basically my setup is a SSD & HDD in my MBP. I have OSX and Win7 (Bootcamp) on the SSD and the NTFS HDD is a shared file storage drive for both Windows and OS. I have my iTunes library located on this drive and I want to be able to share the library between the OSs. I also want changes e.g. additions deletions made in windows to be reflected in OSX and vice versa.
Technically this is possible and does in fact work if I point iTunes to the .itl file but the problem is that when I open iTunes after switching OSs it must go through a very lengthy library update which can take 30-60mins in some cases before I can use it. Obviously this is not a good solution so I'm wondering if there are any workarounds to accomplishing this?
For example can I duplicate the .itl file and have one for win and one for OSX and still have the libraries stay in sync?

Just for your info, Vista ***** whatever you try to do. I'm stuck with Vista on a pre-installed laptop. All experience I have from Vista is bad, don't buy Vista or a computer with preinstalled Vista if you can avoid it.
We have three computers in a home network, one Macbook Pro, one PC with Windows XP, and the Vista laptop. All are using iTunes-8, downloaded and installed last week.
Sharing iTunes libraries using the option to share libraries on a local network works fine between Mac and Windows-XP. The sharing also works fine between the XP and the Vista PC.
But the Vista PC can't access the Mac iTunes library. When trying to open the Mac library, iTunes on the Vista computer says something like "Fetching library info from...". It's the same problem when trying to access the Vista library from the Mac.
We had a similar problem when trying to access shared folders on the local network. Thanks to a tip on this forum how to tweak the Vista registry, the shared folder problem was solved.
I'm think some registry setting in Vista might solve iTunes shared library problems. Maybe some Windows freak knows how to patch the registry to solve this issue.
Otherwise the solution is to trash Vista, and install Windows-XP.

  • Arch and Win7 cannot open an NTFS partition created by the other

This is almost certainly related to another post where I was struggling to create logical partitions from Windows. Basically, Linux and Minitool Partition Wizard agreed that there were no logical partitions, but the built-in Windows disk utility said there was. I ended up using fdisk from Arch install media, and Minitool and Arch now both saw the logical partitions (Windows shows a big extended partition of free space). I installed Arch just fine, can boot to it and win7... life is good.
Not so much. A key to my setup is having an encrypted partition to share data between OS's. I used TrueCrypt with great success on my former laptop and am now having great difficulty!
    Some preliminary information:
    # fdisk -l /dev/sda
    Disk /dev/sda: 238.5 GiB, 256060514304 bytes, 500118192 sectors
    Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disklabel type: dos
    Disk identifier: 0x1e6513b3
Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type
    /dev/sda1 * 2048 2101247 2099200 1G 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT
    /dev/sda2 2101248 172433407 170332160 81.2G 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT
    /dev/sda3 172433408 390537215 218103808 104G 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT
    /dev/sda4 390537216 500118191 109580976 52.3G 5 Extended
    /dev/sda5 390539264 391587839 1048576 512M 83 Linux
    /dev/sda6 391589888 500118191 108528304 51.8G 83 Linux
I also went partition by partition to check Minitool's agreement on sectors (they match perfectly with the exception that it doesn't show the extended /dev/sda4 container). I triple checked the Minitool partition info properties as you can't copy and paste from it's window, and pasted the fdisk output to minimize errors. I'm showing a column for mini/Arch for both start/stop sectors, and just subtracted them to make sure I got 0. Appears to be perfect alignment:
    | part | start (mini) | start (arch) | diff | | end (mini) | end (arch) | diff |
    |------+--------------+--------------+------+---+------------+------------+------|
    | sda1 | 2048 | 2048 | 0 | | 2101247 | 2101247 | 0 |
    | sda2 | 2101248 | 2101248 | 0 | | 172433407 | 172433407 | 0 |
    | sda3 | 172433408 | 172433408 | 0 | | 390537215 | 390537215 | 0 |

    - Screenshot of how Minitool sees my disk
    - Screenshot of how Windows disk utility sees my disk
I used TrueCrypt 7.1a on both OS's. I created a non-system encrypted partition using the GUI on Arch with the AES cipher/sha-512 hash, with filesystem as "none." Once created I did:
$ sudo cryptesetup --type tcrypt open /dev/sda3 vault
That worked fine, which I followed with:
    $ sudo mkfs.ntfs /dev/mapper/vault
It initialized the device with zero's and then gave me the success/have a nice day message. Closed the volume and rebooted. When I tried to open the device from win7, I got "Incorrect password or not a TrueCrypt volume." Hmmm. I guess I'll try in reverse. I duplicated the procedure exactly as above from win7, this time having TrueCrypt automatically format with NTFS. All succeeds and I can open the device. Reboot into Arch and I get the same message from TrueCrypt! If I try with cryptsetup, it's "No device header detected with this passphrase."
Next, I tried just doing NTFS with no encryption. From Arch:
    $ sudo mkfs.ntfs /dev/sda3
All goes well and I can mount it. I boot into Windows and it's not even listed! I used Minitool to issue it a drive letter, at which point clicking that pops up a windows dialog box asking me if I want to format the disk. Format the partition with NTFS in Windows, reboot into Arch and I get:
    [jwhendy@arch_zbook ~]$ sudo mount /dev/sda3 /mnt/scratch/
    NTFS signature is missing.
Failed to mount '/dev/sda3': Invalid argument
The device '/dev/sda3' doesn't seem to have a valid NTFS.
Maybe the wrong device is used? Or the whole disk instead of a
partition (e.g. /dev/sda, not /dev/sda1)? Or the other way around?
Doesn't matter if I add "-t ntfs" or "-t ntfs-3g." I get the same result.
Just to add a couple more oddities... when I created the NTFS partition in Arch, I also created a file called vault.tc as a TrueCrypt file-based encrypted container. My thinking was that the issue was with TrueCrypt full-partitions and that I could get around it with a plain partition containing an encrypted file. Reboot into windows and the partition isn't shown (as stated above). From Minitool, if I right click the partition and choose "Explore," it lists the partition contents and there is my vault.tc file. Windows thinks it's unformatted!
I noticed the option to backup/restore a TrueCrypt header, and gave a shot at backing up the working TrueCrypt setup on windows to a flash drive, booting to Arch, and then restoring the /dev/sda3 header from the flash drive file. Arch still couldn't open it.
Lastly, I noticed when I go to select a device to encrypt in TrueCrypt, my logical partitions aren't showing up (just like Windows only sees the end of the disk as free space). I just can't help but think something is tweaked in the partition table... basically:
    - TrueCrypt sees what Windows sees
    - Arch sees what Minitool sees
How could I go about diagnosing further or fixing the issue. This is driving me crazy!
I'd hate to do this given that I already setup my wm, configs, packages, etc... but my last resort attempt would be to wipe my logical partitions and see if I can at least get the win7 disk utility, minitool, arch, and truecrypt to like each other with respect to /dev/sda1-3... and then try to re-add the logicals afterward and re-install arch? I honestly don't know why this would be any different, but was just a thought. The issues from the other post seem to arise with logical partitions not being recognized the same between win/linux.
Or figure out how to just use primaries (like dedicated boot on a USB drive or something). Or fiddle with growing/shrinking windows to see if I can undo whatever is telling windows where/what things are? Really grasping at straws here.
