R60 died after run BIOS Thinkpad System Update

Once I got it booting I did some Windows updates, then did the Thinkpad System Update to update drivers as per what Lenovo was saying needed updating. It included a BIOS update which along with the drivers was done. Now the notebook will not boot. It will turn on, the AC, battery and Power lights come on and thats it, the screen stays black and there is no post.
What can I do to make this notebook work again?

So what?  The second-hand shop you bought it from didn't follow the right procedures.  You also didn't follow the right procedures to make sure that iPhone was not in Activation Lock.  It's like buying a car for cash but not getting the title signed over to you.  It's not your car if you don' have the title.  And that's not legally your iPhone if the previous owner's Apple ID is still registered to the device for Find My iPhone/Activation Lock.
Only a proof of purchase from the ORIGINAL retail store would do any good at all.  Return the device to where you bought it and demand your money back.  If they refuse, either get a lawyer and/or turn in the device to local police.  If you're in possession of stolen property, then the cops won't care about where you got it from.

  • SoundMax drivers just disappear in XP after last ThinkVantage System Update

    Hi All!
I have a ThinkPad T61 that I LOVE so much more than my old Dell D620. I'm actually switching our company over to ThinkPads from Dell.
I have set it up dual boot, running Windows XP SP 2 and Vista Business x64. Both have been running great, and I have installed all the ThinkVantage tools. I even got the SATA to run in AHCI mode, which was the trickiest thing so far...until...
I ran System Update on Sunday in Windows XP. Since then, my sound has disappeared. I got all kinds of errors from SoundMax, saying the device wasn't found. When I try to reinstall SoundMax, I get the dreaded "The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware". I have uninstalled and reinstalled the "Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver (Q888111)" driver and rebooted each time over and over again. I've removed and let Windows re-find the Bluetooth Audio drivers. I have no exclaimation points for any drivers, and no listing for any SoundMax drivers. I cannot get XP to recognize the audio on the machine any longer. There is no listing in the BIOS for audio.
The real kicker is that the audio works perfectly fine in Vista, so I know it's not a hardware issue.
I've tried suggestions from the following articles, to no avail:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/archive/index.php/t-136471.html
    http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=T_Series_Thinkpads&thread.id=283
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=136351&page=5
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111
Does anyone out there, or does Lenovo, have any suggestions? This is VERY frustrating because I know it's not a hardware issue!

    Thanks for your reply.
I actually had installed the drivers. The problem was the soundcard drivers weren't even listed in Device Manager - no exclaimation points - nothing.
I was actually able to solve the problem, but it was a real pain. See the following:
There was no listing under Add/Remove Programs for the Microsoft UAA KB888111 update to remove it. This was because I had installed it, uninstalled it, and then reinstalled it again.
So, according to the above link I posted, I had to delete the following key from the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows XP\SP3\KB888111
Then I rebooted. After rebooting, I reinstalled the KB888111 patch from the Lenovo site, then rebooted again.
After that reboot, it found the sound card and wanted to install the drivers, which I did from c:\DRIVERS\WIN\Audio. Once again, I rebooted.
After that reboot, I installed the SoundMax software and rebooted again, and when I logged back into Windows, I heard the familiar Windows startup theme.
I guess a word to the wise is to be very careful what you are installing when using the ThinkVantage System Update. I might not be so quick to update something that is already working fine.

  • Blank screen & no booting after running BIOS update on Satellite A200-1AE

Here is my problem with my A200-1AE (PSAECE) Notebook:
I downloaded the latest BIOS update from the Toshiba download drivers library to install Win XP since finally the drivers are realized. (Note the update clearly stated to run ONLY if you want to install XP on you NB).
So I unzipped the file and after hitting the .exe file it started updating the BIOS on its own without me giving the liberty to do so. Half way the N/B froze for about 20 minutes and as I didnt know what else to do so I reset it.
Result? The NB does NOT boot. I press the power button, the Hard Drive icon flashes 2-3 times as well as the DVD drive, I get a blank screen and the power cord & power button icons constantly on. I removed the battery and the power cord for 48 hours hoping it will reset the BIOS on its own to no avail.
The BIOS battery is under the touchpad which means I have to disassemble the whole laptop and I am not ready to do so. I dont know if on the motherboard there are BIOS reset jumpers and I need someones help as to what I should do. I am starting to think that things where MUCH easier back to when I just had a desktop PC.
THERE must be something I can do other that taking it to the service center and pay half the value of the laptop in repairs.... PLS HELP Im desperate....

    Hi there,
first of all: a notebook is not a desktop and such mobile computer does not have jumpers like a deskop computer. They surely have something to delete the BIOS but I am not so sure IF resetting the BIOS could help you.
I guess you will have to send your machine to a service center for repair because in such cases you will have no other option. Do you have still warranty on this machine?

  • Hard drive failure after running bios update.

While attempting to update the bios on my A215 S5824 laptop, there was a small POP sound and everything went dead.  Everything seems to be working except the hard drive and screen. I was having intermittent blank screen issues, thus the bios update attempt. Any thoughts would be helpful.
P.S. Running windows vista home premium.
    AMD 64 athlon x2 w/ati radeon graphics

I would search these forums and the web for Toshiba BIOS Crisis Recovery,it may be possible to boot the BIOS in repair mode (using certain key combinations) to access a BIOS image that's on a bootable media or thumb drive.
You can also trying to contact Toshiba to see if they will cover this repair
You can also contact aqstech.com to do the BIOS repair for about 100 bucks.

  • Satellite L755 died after a Bios update

My laptob was working great but i just found a bios update in toshiba site.
I updated it and had an error then i restarted but my laptob did not start up.
The power light is on and/the fan is spinning but the scrren is off.
Please help me fixing the bios.
    My laptob is sattellite l755-16l
How Can i reflash the bios in this case ?

    Hi
Im afraid something went wrong during the BIOS update.
The BIOS update procedure is a sensitive process and possibly the Rom module has not been flashed properly.
In your case there is only one real solution; you need to get in contact with local Toshiba ASP. The guys should check the motherboard and should try to reflash the BIOS using the BIOS crisis disk.

  • Iphone died after running update for ios7

I ran the update on my phone for iOS 7 this morning and the phone worked fine all day.  I got a text and went to answer it a few minutes later and the phone doesn't work at all.  Doesn't go on (the battery life was at 100%).  When I call it from my house phone, it doesn't ring and the screen doesn't go on.  I plugged it into the wall hoping that would do something, but that did nothing.  Help!

  • Problems after running "rejuvinate my system" - PLEASE HELP!!

Dear all, I have recently tried the “rejuvenate my system” program in an effort to get my x61 back to its original start-up and working speed. For that purpose I have chosen the earliest back-up available which was made only a few weeks after I started using my thinkpad. The good news is, I managed to restore the original start-up speed. The bad news is that quite a few things simply stopped working. For one, I can’t open the control panel at all. Then I can’t connect to the internet because my notebook won’t “associate” with the modem. Also, it doesn’t recognize my usb-stick anymore and is asking for a cd with drivers which – as you might already assume – never existed. I am sure that there are many more problems that will become apparent over time. Only that I have not noticed them yet… Anyone else with similar problems? Or maybe even a solution? If not, can I get my thinkpad back to its slowed-downed and working stage? Thanks a lot for your help!!! It is much appreciated… (btw… it’s running on windows vista basic) red

alright, let's start from scratch. do you have a cd drive handy. do you have factory restore discs.  the first step i guess is to get you online.  i keep a pcmcia adapter handy when i load an operating system into a computer that i'm rebuilding.  that way i can get online to the manufacturer and start loading drivers.  they're cheap, 20 bucks at staples or cheaper on ebay.  sorry, you can't get online to get to ebay.  walmart has them and kmart has them. but you have to load the cd onto your computer somehow. so you need a cd drive.  once you are able to get online you are gonna have to go onto the lenovo site and do a search for drivers for your model computer. i would stay away from the bios updates. (imbedded controller system) drivers.  on your computer, open control panel, system, hardware, devices and see which ones have the yellow tags beside them. these are what you need drivers for.  i would start with your broadcom drivers and wireless drivers.  I guess i should have asked you first how you usually get online to begin with. are you wired to a router or do you get online wireless. i hope wireless, then you can use the pc adapter i talked about earlier. this should get you started. i hope it helped at least a little. i'll check back and see how you're making out.  i've been where you are and it's not a happy place to be.  good luck.

  • Ibook G3 just died after installing 10.4.1 update

I have been using my ibook g3 with 10.2 for a couple of months now. I suffered from the logic board/ graphics chip problem but managed to fix this myself.
Today i got 10.4 and it installed fine, I had a strange problem where my speedtouch modem wouldnt install but I managed to connect a network up to my pc.
I then tried software update but would not connect over the network so I had to download update 10.4.1 from the apple site.
It installed fine, but when it went to reboot itself it went straight to sleep instead of turning off. It did not respond then and It would not turn off or wake up, not even by holding the power button down.
After a while i took the battery out, left it a bit and then placed it back in. When I went to boot up nothing happend.
I have tried everything i can possibly think of like resetting the power, taking out the battery but it still wont work.
There is a strange thing where if the battery and adapter are pluuged in and you reset the power the adapter led cuts out. I have not noticed this before so am not sure wether this is normal or not.
appologies for the long rambling but if anyone has any ideas or thought's then please let me know.
    Cheers John

Hmm, interesting problem. Now, when you say you reset the power did you do what's known as a PMU reset?
    From knowledge base article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449#faq6
For iBook (16 VRAM) and later models of iBook, there is no physical reset button.
If the computer is on, turn it off.
Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.
    Wait 5 seconds.
Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.

  • HT201210 I have an Iphone 4 that died after the new iOS 7 update.

I have an Iphone 4. It was bought second hand but i've had no problems with it before. Today i updated my phone t the iOS 7. It worked rather unsmoothly for 30 mins, then it froze. I tried restarting it but as soon as it turned off it failed to restart.
I attempted to connect it with itunes but alas, the program asked me to connect by responding on my iPhone; which, of course i could not do.
The only response the phone has is when i plug it into the charger, where it vibrates.
I would appreciate information and your help.
    regards, Mae69.

    Hey Mae69,
Thanks for the question, I can understand how frustrating that may be. The following article provides some relevant troubleshooting steps:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Display has no backlight or dark screen
    1. Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
    2. Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
    3. While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
    4. If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Mac Pro early 2009 won't boot after running 1.8.2 update

It even does not get into recovery mode. A grey screen with dots appear.

Hold down the Option key at Startup.  This invokes the Startup Manager, whose code is all in ROM. It will then draw an Icon for each potentially bootable drive.
If there are defects on the screen during this process, you probably have a Hardware problem.
