i can't install itunes for windows get error message 5

I've been having the same issues for the past year and a half. I've spent 6-8months trying to figure it out. Went to various Itunes stores with pictures on my Iphone per each step so I could relay all information that I'd come across and the personnel were less than helpful, after conversations that would sometimes last an hour between myself, employees and managers they always came back to "simply uninstall then reinstall" when I told them for the thousanth time that I've done that multiple times and my errors are happening while trying to reinstall it they act stumped and say "well then I'm not sure, I'll give you a call if I figure it out" and disappear. I've been very disatisfied at the lack of support from Apple and if Android to piece together a reletively reliable phone I'd switch to them in a heartbeat. I'll follow this question incase someone can answer this, but I don't have much faith.
BTW, wifey has Windows 7 running on the laptop and my phone syncs just fine to that and no trouble with itunes, just mine (desktop).

  • Can't install iTunes after deleting prior corrupted version of iTunes

Hi there, I'm hopeful someone can help me out with this vexing problem. I noticed after recently installing the newest version of Quicktime several weeks back that my iTunes would crash whenever I tried to open the iTunes Music Store. Growing weary of that issue and not being able to resolve it on my own after fully using Onyx, I decided to delete iTunes 6.0.4 and simply install it again. After I deleted the corrupted iTunes, I checked to make sure my music was still in its library (it was, but the icons had all changed to Quicktime icons) and then installed iTunes from downloading it from the Apple website.
I was able to download iTunes 6.0.4 from the website. I installed it and that seemed to go well and I then restarted the machine and then went into the Applications folder expecting to see the new iTunes icon there, but it was not! I did a Spotlight search for the new iTunes and it could not be found anywhere on the machine! I did not know how to explain/understand its failure to exist since I had gone through the complete installation procedure and then restarted the iMac, but, I thought I will just try it again and see what would happen. This time, I installed it from the iLife '06 DVD and again, the whole installation program ran fine and I then restarted the machine and opened up the App. folder expecting to see it, but, once again iTunes was missing. Spotlight still cannot locate the program. I know that I have correctly installed the darn thing at least twice but I can't seem to locate the program! Moreover, when I click on some of my music icons, the song will play through Quicktime, not iTunes...I just don't know what to make of this, can someone knowledgeable about iTunes please guide me through this mysterious re-installation process? Thank you very much for reading and hopefully lending a virtual had! Cheers, Mike in California

Although it looked like iTunes was installed, I doubt it was.
Your Spotlight search does confirm that.
Open ./Library/Receipts and trash the 'iTunesX.pkg' and the 'iTunesX 6.0.4.pkg' files.
    Try installing iTunes again.
If you only install iTunes, there's no need to restart or even to log out and in.
After the installer is ready, take a look in your Applications folder.
I'm confident you will find the iTunes.app there.
    Hope this helps.

  • I can't install itunes on my PC. Message "itunes did not install correctly. Please reinstall itunes. Error 7 (windows error 5). How do I fix this? I have uninstalled itunes and quicktime several times

I also deleted all apple software on my pc.

A complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and related software components is worth a try (7s can indicate trouble with other software components like Apple Application Support). See the following documents for instructions:

  • Solved: can't install iTunes after download

    Hi all,
I like to share my experience of iTunes installation, since I took almost a week to figure out a solution for my problem, hopefully will help someone else with it!
I have a standard Windows XP Pro SP2 machine, and just got a new iPod. I went on Apple web site and downloaded iTunes 7.1.1 but after downloading ok, all attempts to run the dowloaded program resulted in nothing. No message, no warning, no error. Just nothing.
I donwloaded iTunes about 5 times before deciding I had a real problem!
Than I went on Apple support web page http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976 did everything listed there but no success.
Given I had a previous Quicktime installation, I edited the win registry and manually removed all key referring to quicktime or Apple. No luck again.
I searched the net for hours and found reference to a possible corrupted windows installer program, so I run a "sfc /scannow" from a dos prompt to double check my installation but everything was fine.
I also did check spyware and viruses with three different programs to be double sure of no malware around.
Than I started thinking it was an issue related to my PC and used a separate laptop to download iTunes again but had exactly the same issue, even trying to install it on the laptop itself!
I gave it a try downloading a previous version (6.x) thinking of a possible issue with the new release but no success. The only difference was 6.x reported installation files to be corrupted, so I smelled it could really be a download issue.
Finally I tried to download iTunes from another web site, not Apple, and ... bingo! Everything worked fine and got it installed.
I still can't figure out what exactly was the problem. It may be some issue related to my network/firewall/isp settings and the Apple dowload service. I would have serious difficulties in explaining it, but you read the entire story.
Again, I hope someone will save time and pain by reading this...
    Ciao
    Diego

Thankz Milan I'm going to give this a go right now.

The other day I was prompted to update itunes.  I started to, and it crashed my itunes.  Then I tried to uninstall itunes, so that I could turn around and re-install it again.  Now I can not install itunes.  I get Runtime Error! message. R6034.  For the last two hours I have  tried deleting itunes, moving the .dll files to the desktop, restarting the computer (more times than I can count), deleting the temp files, updating my internet explorer, using the fix it program,.....
The two messages that I am getting are:
Runtime Error! Program:c\Program Files (x86)\itunes\Tunes.exe     R6034   An application has made an attempt to load the c runtime library incorrectly.  Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Also:  Service to 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Moblie Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to start system services.

I too was getting the same message regarding R6034. After many frustrating hours I went to the iTunes support page and clicked on "install and update." When that page came up I scrolled on to "removing and reinstalling iTunes......" There they tell you what files need to be removed and what order to do it in so you can reinstall iTunes. My iTunes works now and I didn't lose any music.
About the Apple Mobile Device, well that's one of the files that has to be uninstalled. When you reinstall iTunes the Apple Mobile Device is automatically reinstalled.
Hope this works for you as it did for me. Warning: it takes about an hour to do all this.

    Hey Debbiered1,
Follow the steps in this link to resolve the issue:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
When you uninstall, the items you uninstall and the order in which you do so are particularly important:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
    Take care,

  • Can't install itunes 10.4 on Windows 7 home premium

I am not highly technical, so please bear with me:
After repeatedly being unable to update itunes 10.2, I thought I should just uninstall it and install itunes 10.4. Wow, what a mistake. After many hours I now can't run my MS Office programs AND I can't load or run itunes.
Originally, while trying to update itunes, I kept getting the message "errors occurred while installing the updates. If the problem persists, choose tools > download only and try installing manually." This confused me as I could not find "tools."
After some reading online, I decided what I should do is download the Windows Installer clean up tool. Apparently this was the BIG mistake. I selected Apple items to remove with msicuu.exe, only to find that now my MS Office 2010 programs no longer run ("Microsoft Office not installed for this user"), and I still can't install itunes.
I tried installing itunes 10.2 and got a message that I must install a 32-bit version of itunes.
I used the cleanup tool once again and tried to install itunes 10.4, and got the message: could not open key: UNKNOWN\components\DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\6A262021B4A79884EA585F5E86D 86338. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel.
Now when I try to run MS Office software, getting message "Preparing to install", then, Configuring Microsoft Office Professional Plus, then something about the program not being installed for this user (I'm the only user).
I realize that this board probably can't help me with MS Office software, but can you help me with itunes?

SOA Suite works perfectly on my windows7 pc.

    then restarted as per instructions,
went to Apple to download itunes,
    hit download now,
Visit the iTunes download page. Click Download Now to download the iTunes installer. When prompted, click Save (instead of Run).
did not get a save instead of run prompt
Right click on iTunesSetup or iTunes64Setup (the installer you downloaded in step 3).
If you have Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Choose "Run as administrator."
i can only click run as administrator from right clicking the shortcut on my desktop screen
If iTunes fails to install or repair, it might be necessary to remove components left from a previous installation of iTunes and then reinstall.

  • Can't install itunes 9 in windows 7 "The folder iTunes cannot be found"

I can not install itunes 9.0.3.15 in windows 7. Getting the error message "The folder iTunes cannot be found or created and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the Music folder." I see a solution has already been posted for this problem, but it is specifically for Windows XP. Anyone have a solution for the problem in Windows 7?

Doublechecking some things before proceeding, j. Are you trying to upgrade your iTunes on the PC? Or is this the very first time iTunes has been installed on the PC?
Are you getting the error message during the install, or when trying to launch 9.0.3.15 after the install?

I found this solution on the Apple Support Forums. Adding the SYSTEM account is what worked for me:
+Let's check your permissions on the key.+
+In your "Start Search" box, type run and click on the Run that comes up. In your run, type regedit and hit enter.+
    +In regedit:+
    +Expand HKEYLOCALMACHINE+
    +Expand SOFTWARE+
    +Expand CLASSES+
+Right-click on pcast and select "Permissions".+
+Select your user account name. Do you have full control of the key? If so, also select SYSTEM. Does the SYSTEM account have full control of the key?+
