R61i keyboard configuration for Brazilian Portuguese

Hi!
I bought a Thinkpad R61i (7650-A43) at Lenovo, Brazil one month ago.
I reinstalled the Windows Vista (from another DVD, not the rescue disk), then I tried to setup the keyboard in control panel to Portuguese (Brazilian ABNT), but the key ?/° (below :;+ key) didn´t work.
I tried Portuguese (Brasilian ABNT2) but it´s didn´t work, too.
What is the correct keyboard configuration for Brazilian Portuguese in this notebook?
thanks

Locale for portugese-brazil (pt-BR) is not working.

No. Something else is going on.
Your son may be hogging all the bandwidth but your wireless network should never simply disappear. Moreover, if your son isn't doing anything the available bandwidth for other devices should remain unaffected.
I suspect that something is miswired, and from what you describe I suspect that link is between the Extreme and the "other computer".
The way to accomplish what you propose is
Modem > Ethernet cable to Extreme's WAN port
Extreme's LAN ports > wired Ethernet devices.
There should be nothing but an Ethernet cable linking an Extreme LAN port and any other wired device. If you run out of available LAN ports on the Extreme, you need to by an "Ethernet switch" - they are not expensive, but don't call it a "splitter" or you will only confuse yourself. The switch would be connected to one of the Extreme's LAN ports, and you would connect additional devices to it. You can also use one of your Expresses for that purpose, assuming it is the current generation model with two Ethernet ports.

  • Change keyboard configuration for special keys

    Hi guys,
I want to change the default behaviour for some special keys when running windows.
I want the Cmd (Mac) key to be the Alt (Win) key and the Fn (Mac) key to be the Ctrl (Win) key.
    Is this possible?

Thanks for your answer Fortuny, but it seems the Ctrl and Alt keys can't be re-mapped using that application... I'll keep searching
Edit: You pointed me in the right direction I found a similar application to the MSKLC called SharpKeys, I was not able to edit the Fn key, but at least a could remap the left Cmd key to be the Alt key.

  • Customized keyboard shortcuts for microsoft Word not working

    Hi,
My Macbook Pro retina 15' with an updated Yosemite iOS 10.10.1 has an american keyboard. I am trying to create keyboard shortcuts for brazilian accent marks to use in Microsoft Word. I went to "system preferences", "keyboard", "shortcuts", "App Shortcuts", added Microsoft Word and, for the brazilian accent mark " ˜ ", which in the original keyboard is obtained with "option+n", I set the shortcut "option+left arrow".
It just does not work. I created other shortcuts for other brazilian accent marks with the other arrows + control but none of them worked.
Can anyone tell me what went wrong?
    Thanks!

Amy~ Yep the lasso tool was what I verified with another user. 'L' seems to be bound indefinitely to loop through different types of lasso tools and it was annoying them because they just wanted L to be the regular freehand lasso. I removed 'L' from being an option on the polygon lasso and even set it explicitly to SHIFT+L as well as set the lasso tool to a completely different keyboard combo. 'L' still cycled through lassos haha. It needs some fixes.
fertolg~ At least you have a workaround for now. I'd go nuts if I couldn't use keyboard text selection writing code, oy! You're welcome and if you're all set please mark correct so we can filter unanswered. Good luck!

  • Brazilian Portuguese Keyboard

How can I set it up? I tried the language and text area and apparently it sets you up with Brazilian Portuguese ( you see the flag) yet the keyboard is no different than the American.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks

Here are instructions for the 4 most common ways that people type Portuguese.  All them them can make all of the characters.  It's is up to you to decide which one you want to use.
    A) With the US flag showing at the top right of the screen:  hold down the key for the base letter and select the accented version you want from the popup menu which appears.
    B) With the Brazilian flag or the US flag showing at the top right of the screen:  Use the keyboard shortcuts provided on this page:
    http://symbolcodes.tlt.psu.edu/bylanguage/portuguese.html#macaccent
    C) With the US flag that has the PC underneath it at the top right of the screen:  Use the shortcuts provided by this page:
    http://symbolcodes.tlt.psu.edu/accents/codeint.html
    D) With the Portuguese flag at the top right of the screen:  Use Keyboard Viewer to see which key does what or use this chart.  The orange keys are for accents -- you type them first and then type the vowel.
Just ask again if in one of these methods there is some character you need to make but cannot.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You will have to return the Mac and order one with a Portuguese keyboard, if you bought it less than 14 days ago.
If not, you will have to buy a new Mac (that's because some keys may not fit onto your MacBook Pro keyboard) or just set up OS X with a Portuguese keyboard but with US keys

  • How to enable keyboard shortcuts for configuration entry point?

    Hello All,
In my process model, I have a configuration entry point sequence (sequence). I can able to select the corresponding entry from the menu bar ie. configure --> options (for eg). Now I need to have a keyboard shortcut for the same. In my case if I press (for eg) ctrl+w, the configuration entry point sequence must be called.
Note - I have to do this using .NET programmatically.
Is there any way I can incorporate this mechanism...?
    Thanks
    Arun

    Hello Arun,
At this time there is not anyway to customize the keyboard shortcut keys for menu items you add to the TestStand sequence editor.  R&D is looking into implementing this in a future version of TestStand.  I'll pass along your feedback to them, and let them know there are others interrested in this feature.

  • Keyboard shortcut for Compare Documents (or configurable keyboard shortcuts)

    Hi,
I'm guessing the ability to configure Keyboard Shortcuts as one can in other Adobe applications is coming soon to Acrobat (the software release cycles haven't quite synched up yet), but if there are no plans for this, I would appreciate a Keyboard Shortcut for a function I use very frequently: Compare Documents.
    Thanks much,
    Adam

If you go to system prefs - keyboard & mouse - keyboard shortcuts you can set a shortcut for anything that is in the mail menus.
click the + at bottom left to add one, select mail from the applications drop down, then type in the exact name of the mail menu item you want a shortcut for eg :Add Hyperlink . Then find a shortcut combo that isn't in use by something else & there you are.
I prefer the edit link, so's you get a neat link, rather than the (sometimes) 3 line url.
checking the way mail works while interested in another post
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=367990&tstart=0
we've noticed that mail doesn't send rtf that outlook on an exchange server likes
unless you not only enable rtf, but also actually make some alteration that really requires rtf. That's to say a different font,a larger font, italics, a signature in italics, a colour etc.
The fact that your composed message displays in arial 48pt (for example) doesn't cut it - it'll still be sent as plain unless you do one of the above. Making a change & reversing it works too.

Are iPads built with different configurations for different countries?

I live in the U.S. but am moving to Brazil. I would like to purchase an iPad here in the U.S. but want to have it set up for Brazil, ie: language, operation, WiFi. Can all of this be done by selecting the country specific configuration at the setup stage?
You can certainly chose the language when you set it up. WiFi is an international standard, no difference between US and Brazil. You can further go into Settings - General - International and select language, as well as keyboards and region format.
Also, Is it possible to order the iPad (to be shipped to me in the U.S.) with packaging material (ie: operation manual, etc.) in the Brazilian Portuguese language?
There is no operation manual included - English, Portuguese, or any other language. You can find the one you need at http://support.apple.com/pt_BR/manuals/.
    Additionally, does Brazil have 4G?
I'm not sure, but as of now the only countries where the iPad 4G will work are the US and Canada - other countries that have 4G use different frequencies.

  • Unable to change keyboard layout for all users on Windows Server 2012 R2

    Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to support national keyboard layout for Danish for all users on that machine. When I ran the powershell with script Set-WinUserLanguageList
-LanguageList da-DK it only sets the Danish keyboard layout to the specific logged in user. However the for other users its same English(US) keyboard which is not expected.
Please help me how to set the Danish keyboard for all users on the machine. Its Urgent! Thanks

    Hi Mike,
    Thanks for reply.
But I need to configure everything using powershell script. Is it possible to use powershell script to setting group policy/ adding logon script ?
These are pretty basic administration tasks and almost always quicker to accomplish with the GUI. Why do you want to use a PowerShell script?

  • Keyboard shortcuts for text selection not working in Flash CC

In the new Code Editor in Flash CC running on Mac OS X, most standard Keyboard Shortcuts for traversing through the text work as expected (as the Operating System works globally) but there is one that doesn't and it's I think the most important one.
Hitting "OPTION + SHIFT + [right or left arrow keys]" to select words doesn't work. Hitting "OPTION + [right or left arrow keys]" works as expected, moving the cursor to the next word or break point, but adding shift doesn't do the selection.
I don't understand why this changed since it's a basic OS global shortcuts, and every other program behaves the way it should. Flash CS6 running on the same system behaves fine, but Flash CC doesn't. If you have ever written code, you know that any second that a programmers hand doesn't have to leave the keyboard to search for the mouse is invaluable, and this has forced me to stop using Flash CC and use Flash CS6 to edit my Action Script classes becuase it's unusable otherwise.
These shortcuts are also not listed in the keyboard shortcuts for the program, so I can't change the default behavior. Does anybody know if there's a way to set it back to the way it was before, or just disable special text shortcuts so that selecting text behaves like any other application in the operating system?
    System Configuration:
    Flash CC
    Mac OSX 10.8.5

  • Tip: Keyboard remapping for Dvorak layout

(thanks go to Alex Donald for pointing out the Key Codes program)
I use the Dvorak layout program which is not 100% compatible with Aperture's shortcuts, because Aperture's shortcuts are hardwired to the keyboard.
fortunately, you can 'rewire' the shortcuts.
today, I found a file named KeycodeMapping.strings inside the Aperture package. Apple probably created it to remap equivalent keys to existing ones (eg, some of keypad number shortcuts call the same events as the 'top of keyboard' number shortcuts) so that they wouldn't have to double up the 'event' keys in the KeyEvents.plist file. for those of us not using the US keyboard layout, that is a good thing because it makes it easy for us to remap the keyboard to our personal keyboard configuration.
so, my keyboard and the Aperture shortcuts are now working great. if you are using the Dvorak layout, here's how to 'fix' Aperture for your working environment:
    1. quit Aperture.
    2. open the following file in a text editor (make a backup first to be safe):
    Aperture.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/KeycodeMapping.strings
    3. change the first string (ie, 'from') to:
    "82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 91, 92, 0, 45, 34, 4, 2, 16, 32, 38, 5, 8, 9, 35, 46, 37, 1, 15, 7, 31, 41, 40, 3, 47, 43, 11, 17, 44, 39, 30, 27, 24, 6, 12, 13, 14, 33";
    4. change the second string (ie, 'to') to:
    "29, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 22, 26, 28, 25, 0, 11, 8, 2, 14, 3, 5, 4, 34, 38, 40, 37, 46, 45, 31, 35, 12, 15, 1, 17, 32, 9, 13, 7, 16, 6, 27, 24, 33, 30, 41, 39, 43, 47, 44";
    5. save the file.
you're done. when you next launch Aperture, the shortcuts should work as expected.
not all of the keyboard shortcuts may have been remapped. for example, any shift-punctuation keys may still be wrong because the shift- and non-shift- versions of the letters may come from different keys on the keyboard. to correct this, we would have to change the mapping in the KeyEvents.plist. this is possible but I want to keep this as simple as possible for the time being. the KeycodeMapping.strings file seems to be the easiest route to go.
you could do the same for other keyboard layouts with a little investigation as Alex has already proved.
Note. if you have multiple users using Aperture on your Mac and they don't all use the same keyboard layout, this procedure would mess them up big time! if that's the case, I would suggest duplicating Aperture and modifying one for your personal use, leaving the other copy for everyone else on the computer to use.

Gregory, thank you soooooo much for this!
I've been trying to cope with this problem for months!
It's great to have keyboard shortcuts working. I did notice that the tool tips that document the keyboard shortcuts are wrong, at least for me. For example, switching to the standard view is Command-option-S. The tool tip indicates Command-Option-O. The Dvorak "O" is mapped over the QWERTY "S". This is a nit of course with respect to the functionality of the keyboard shortcuts.
I do hope there's a permanent fix to this in an upcoming update to Aperture.

  • Solaris 8 loses keyboard configuration

While installing Solaris 8 on my Dell Latitude laptop, everything works fine until I get to the point that the installation asks me to select the language to be used. When I press "1", the string "^]]229z" is echoed on the screen until the buffer is filled. Since the keyboard works fine up to that point (it allows me to select devices and boot methods) it appears as if the "Solaris Web Start 3.0 Installer" is losing the keyboard configuration. Any suggestions?

    [email protected]

    Hi Mark,
There appears to be a problem with the keyboards on Dell laptops. Currently there is a work around that you might want to try if you want to run Solaris 8 on your machine, and this involves using a USB keyboard for installation and subsequent use. If you wish to give it a try, take a look at the following steps:
    1) Attach USB keyboard prior to installation
    2) When the language question is asked respond using the USB keyboard for this step and for all other steps.
However after installation finishes the USB keyboard must still be used for operation.
