R6850 Cyclone crash under 2d

Hello. My card is unstable in 2d mode, randomly (not regular) driver crashing when im browsing web (display driver stopped responding and recovered...), or watching movies but is very stable under stress (i can play games, running benchmarks without problems with a couple of hours). Sometimes is strange 1 second freeze. I opening a window, then mouse and screen freeze but after that computer is fine. First of all i updated bios from 1M2 to 1M3, by using MSI Live Update. New bios have higher 2d clocks (300/1100) but now stability is even worst, and card crashing more times, even if i set unofficial overclocking mode=2 in MSI Afterburner (forced 3d clocks). No difference what driver version i use (12.1, 12,2, 12.3, 12.4, 12.5 beta) I think its related to Aero Theme but if im buying not a cheapest card i want it to be stable. I disabled hardware flash acceleration. Also i checked CPU with 12 hours Prime 95, Intel Burn Test, memory checked with Memtest and Gold Memory. Hdd have good smart, and good benchmark score in Hd Tune Pro, no bad sector. PSU pass Power supply test in OCCt 1 hour. Everything is fine. Even gpu can pass some hours with Furmark without crashes. But as i said is unstable under Windows. No difference overclocked, or not overclocked. Never crashes under heavy stress. Its annoying.

  • R6850 Cyclone OC Edition is causing Crash Problem !!

Using R6850 Cyclone OC Edition for my PC with configuration as below, got all the drivers up to date, and BIOS updated too. But each time I am using my PC normally for video watching or you tube, my PC crashes !!!! with a Black screen and nothing more. !
In-order to validate my doubt, I swapped the VGA input port of monitor to my default Intel VGA out port, and removed the power connector cables connected to the Gcard. It didnt crash at all. Hence after that I did some research and found out many people had there share of similar problems and were solved by changing their PSU. Please suggest me the solution, weather its a PSU or Gcard Problem. I have already RMAed my Gcard for the problem for the third time !!
Also, while surfing a webpage, I got a pixelated screen, and then my PC restarted. But the the surprising thing is it never crashes when I am playing games !!! Although it flickers randomly most of the times.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Here is my PC info:
    Intel Desktop Board DG41RQ
    MSI R6850 Cyclone OC edition
    cooler master RS-460-pcar-D3
    4gb DDR2 Memory
    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
    AMD catalyst 13.1
PS: I did run those tests with funmark and Prime95, with no crashes.

can you test the card in another PC to isolate the problem?
have you tried msi vga drivers for your card?

Well it came installed on my brand new Windows 8 pro w530 I received 4 weeks ago and has never worked. When you try to open power manager it just crashes. If you uninstall it the Lenovo software just keep reinstalling it. If you uninstall the Lenovo PM driver but do not reboot you can then open Power Manager. The minute you reboot the Lenovo software reinstallls the driver.
Why would Lenovo install software on a brand new Windows 8 laptop that is broken and useless? Tech support is absolutely no help they transfer you to the software department which wants to charge you to fix a problem that Lenovo created!!! It is crazy!! I was hoping someone here could solve this problem or maybe someone at Lenovo would see this and get the problem resolved. Tech support has been useless. I reported the problem to them at least 5 times.

  • Why is Photoshop CS4 crashing under ...

    ... such seemingly unrelated conditions?:
When I try to convert an RGB image with layers to CMYK or grayscale
When I try to delete an adjustment layer or layer w/a vector mask by clicking on the layer palette trashcan (drag/drop, delete key and fly-out options work fine)
When I try to create/save a new workspace, or select the Basic or What's New in CS4 workspaces (all others are accessible)
When I try to flatten an RGB image w/multiple layers
Ocassionally when I close an image file in any way (mouse, menu or key stroke)
I'm running OS X 10.5.8 on a Mac Pro, Quad-Core Intel Xeon. My other CS4 apps are fine, so far, and I haven't done anything different to the system other than install updates when the updater prompts me. I uninstalled/reinstalled Photoshop five times, uninstalled/reinstalled the whole Creative Suite once, to no avail. I'd greatly appreciate any thoughts or advice ...

I found 3 crashes under your name.  2 of them are uncommon, but occur in the ExtensisFontManagement plugin and appear to be due to a bug in the plugin.  The first is a crash on quit, and the second is Extensis attempting to override Alerts for some odd reason, and their override fails.
The third crash cause happens more frequently, cause unknown, but it looks very, very similar to the Extensis Alert override bug.
So, try disabling the ExtensisFontManagement plugin, and I suspect your Photoshop CS4 experience will be a lot happier.

  • Php4apache.dll uses plain apache 1.3 API,this module might crash under EAPI

    Hi,
I am a total PHP beginner.
I am trying to install and configure Oracle, PHP, and Apache on Windows XP. For this purpose I am trying to follow the installation guide that I found on http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/opensource/php/apache/inst_php_apache_windows.html.
I have first installed the Oracle 9i DB server on my E drive, which has by default created the following directory which contains the APACHE exe file
    E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\Apache\Apache\
    (it is Apache 1.3.22)
I have downloaded php 4.3.8 from php.net and have been through the following steps given by the guide.
I have copied the php.ini and edited it (uncomment the extension=php_oci8.dll line and specified the doc_root as E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\Apache\Apache\htdocs).
    I have copied php4ts.dll and php_oci8.dll to E:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\Apache\Apache\
i have edited the httpd.conf file by adding the 3 following lines:
    LoadModule php4_module e:/php-4.3.8/sapi/php4apache.dll
    AddModule mod_php4.c
    <IfModule mod_php4.c>AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
    </IfModule>
When i start the Apache server i get:
e:/php-4.3.8/sapi/php4apache.dll/php4apache.dll uses plain apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI!
Apache seems to be working fine and to run php. The "hello world" test runs fine as well.
Is this EAPI error a problem? (some forums seem to be implying that it is not a major error but a warning)
If yes, I can I solve it?
Your help would be very much appreciated.
If needed, my email is [email protected] please feel free to use it.
    Frankie

If you downloaded the binary version of PHP, then pretty much you can't do anything about it. It's just a warning. However, if you compiled and built it (using vc++ or something else), you'll have to add the EAPI flag to the compile flags (/DEAPI to CFLAGS in the vc++ project file/makefile) to remove this warning.

Ive tried the DVI to VGA adapter but still nothing and my HDMI cable wont go into the HDMI slot on the card. Ive checked the cables and tried taking it out and putting it back in to hope its fixed but still nothing.I did a search on these forums and there was a thread saying it was something wrong with the card but that was back in February and im guessing they would of fixed that. Any help would be awesome as im kinda annoyed its not working. By the way when my monitor says "Power saving mode" thats when there is something connected but theres no picture coming up on the screen.

Ok sorry ill try and make this more detailed.

  • MSI R6850 cyclone fake advertisement

    Hello.
I bought a MSI R6850 cyclone power edition OC and before doing that, several websites (related directly with MSI) said that I would get a free copy of the game DIRT 3. That was one of the reasons why I bought this card, and I feel pretty disappointed with that because I haven't found the way to receive that game so far.
I changed from Sapphire to MSI because of the great reviews I found about MSI products on guru3D.com, and when Sapphire promised me a free copy of DIRT 2 years ago they kept their word.
    links:
    http://sites.amd.com/us/game/games/Pages/dirt-3.aspx
    http://event.msi.com/vga/Dirt3/
    http://www.msi.com/news-media/news/1252.html
    Thanks for reading.
Please excuse me for my broken English, I'm still learning it.

*Due to regional differences in product and inventory, other application(s) may be bundled with MSI graphics cards. When making a purchase, be sure to select a MSI graphics card box with a "DiRT 3" sticker attached to ensure that the full game activation code for " DiRT 3" is included.
What I put in above is at the very bottom of the MSI news media link you posted.
You got one (older stock) without the sticker on the box or the offer simply is not available where you live.
You need to ask the people at the store where you purchased the card.
     No fake/false advertising at all.

  • RfcGetData crashes under Unix (Solaris) with sunos_sun4u_620/librfccm.so

    Hi!
I'm not quite sure if this is the right place to ask and if not, please point me to the right direction!
I wrote a RFC Server program (c code) which works fine under Windows but crashes under Solaris. The command where it crashes is the RfcGetData.
Maybe somebody knows what the problem is...
    What is the meaning of:
    Tables[0].itmode   = RFC_ITMODE_BYREFERENCE;
with normal client code, it is always something like:
    Tables[0].ithandle = thTcFileInfos;
    for creating tables!

  • MSI R6850 Cyclone PE/OC No signal, loud fan

I bought an R6850 Cyclone PE/OC and installed it. The first time I booted I got video but my computer froze (I thought, now it seems it just takes a very very long time to POST when I had the DVD drive connected) so I turned it off. The next time I booted (after disconnecting the DVD drive) there was no video and the fan on the card went at full speed but it would boot into Windows.
At first I thought it was a PSU issue so I changed to a better one (XFX 550W) but it is still the same. I tried with my old card and it works just fine. I've also tried clearing the CMOS, reseated the card, made sure the 6 pin power cable was connected, different DVI outputs but still no video.
    My specs are:
    Motherboard: Acer MCP73VE
    BIOS: American Megatrends R01-C2
    CPU: Intel Core2Duo E4700 2.6ghz
    Memory: 2x1GB DDR2-800
    GPU: MSI R6850 Cyclone PE/OC
HDD: 500gb WD IDE, 320gb Seagate SATA, 80gb Seagate IDE
    OS: Windows XP Pro 32bit
    PSU: XFX 550W Core Edition +12V~44A, +5V~24A, +3.3V~24A

Ok, i'm on another PC now and the card is working fine. It must not like the chipset on my old motherboard or something.
Anyways, the only issues i'm having now are stuttering with some games but I think I can fix that by updating Catalyst.

  • Need Advice Overclocking my R6850 Cyclone Power Edition

Hi guys, thanks for your time
so, i just got this R6850 with Cyclone cooling, it comes already OC'd at 860 MHz, but I read on some review that it's capable of reaching 1000Mhz with proper voltage tweaking, and since I'm a greedy bastard (aren't we all?  )  I want all the juice I can squeeze out of this thing.
I got Afterburner installed, but I know nothing about overclocking beyond the basic definition of the word, although I don't think I'm gonna need to do anything more complex than  adjust the slider under core clock (btw, core voltage is grayed out with no value, is this normal?)
how far can my power supply unit get me? I don't think cooling is an issue, as I've played several games so far with maxed settings and GPU temp (according to Afterburner didn't exceed 68c)

thanks for the reply, I tried that, but it didn't work, core voltage and shader clock (which I forgot to mention earlier) are both grayed out and showing no values.
I figured it might be the drivers, so I uninstalled the drivers that came with the card (v10.11 or something like that), restarted and then downloaded and installed the latest drivers,.. still the same

  • Adobe Photoshop CS2 crashes under Mac OS 10.411

    Hy,
I have a Big Problem with Adobe Photoshop CS 2 under Mac Os 10.4.11.
When i click the Photoshop CS2 Icon then Adobe Photoshop crashes.
I delete all file in Preferences and Library and reinstall Adobe Photoshop CS2 - its the same Problem.
    I don´t can Use Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Note: Indesign CS2 has no Problems - its running well.
    Who can Help me????

I'm having the EXACT same problem. I don't know what to do as I use this in my business daily. None of my other programs....GoLive, Illustraor, InDesign are all fine. Surely we can't be the only 2 people that this has happened too.
THEN tried calling Adobe... worthless. They only help if someone upgrades to cs4 or 5. That means spending MORE money to upgrade your version of the computer this all after spendin $250 on their Creative Suites package. Bunch of BULL CRAP.

  • X4600 M2 crashes under load

    Hello,
I've got x4600 M2 with 256GB of memory and 8 dual-core Opterons, all parts officialy supported. I'm running SLES10 and SLES10sp1 on it, also certified to run properly. The problem is that when running heavy computations (100% of all cpu's and 95% of memory) it does not survive for more than hour. The problem is easy to replicate (boot the system up, run anything resource-hungry, wait 40-60 minutes, have system hanged), but hard to diagnose - these is no single chunk of data. When working interactively system chokes down for a minute and later on freezes completely with no single message. BMC also says that everything is ok. I was able to catch error message only once making 20 hangs. It's included below.
The only way to run it stable I found is to run non-smp kernel. Having single core "fixes" things - 256 gb of memory is still available, but 15 cores are lost then.
Any idea what the cause may be?
    Regards,
    nobody12345

    Jul 17 11:20:35 bigmem01 kernel: console shuts up ...

I've seen this type of error on dual core CPUs running at full (100%) load. The system will hang with a CPU context corrupt error. Typically, this error is due to
bad memory, not a bad CPU, but since you say that when you run in single CPU mode, everything "works", I'd suspect a bad CPU.Well, it "works" the way that it doesn't crash. It's hard to stress the system as much as with 16 cpu's having one core only, so this option can't excluded. I even found one insignificant memory module with correctable ecc and took affected pair out. No change at all. As for cpu context corrupt - that was the first thing which came into my mind after seeing error data, but two cores in separate cpu's wouldn't rather crash in the same moment. I have plans to run fascist cpu check anyway.
I'd suggest booting the SUN Diag CD that came with the system and doing an in depth memory and CPU test.Just booting.
In addition, there is a very nice program called "stress" that will simulate your load conditions and provide diagnostic output. This tool has proved to be very
helpful. You seem to be more experienced that me here - if I bind it to specific core and start cycling it at 100%, it won't generate many context switches, right? Having 15 unused cores would rather guarantee having this one left in peace.
You may also want to check the TOY clock on the x4600 motherboard to make sure it is properly set. I've seen conditions where the system clock becomes
so unsynched from the TOY clock that system calls fail. Boot into the BIOS to set the TOY clock. Also, make sure your NTP server setttings are properly
configured. Will do with next downtime. Which is, considering constant crashes, probably tomorrow.
One last thing... when Linux begins to run out of memory (as you say, the app takes 95% of memory), the kernel starts to kill off system level
processes/daemons, one of which is ntpd. I'd suggest running your application to use less memory if possible, and see if it runs properly. My suggestion
would be to boot the kernel, then see what amount of memory is mapped by the kernel without any apps running. Then subtract that from the total memory.
The 'free' command is useful for this (or 'cat /proc/meminfo').Ntp is always ok. After an hour it usually corrects 1.2s, so clock source is not too reliable, but ntp keeps it under control until I kill the server.
Oh.... one more last thing... if the kernel needs to swap out the 95% memory process, does it have sufficient swap to do so? This could also create an issue. It does not for sure. Also kswapd's are very active, up to 100% cpu sometimes. Does it mean that going out of memory causes os crashes? I've seen such situation many times - kernel is expected to kill few processes and recover. And it does on all other machines (IMB servers, blades etc.) I don't care what it kills at the moment, as it simply freezes.
I'll stress the system cpu by cpu in the weekend. If you know any way to make it really proper way I'd gladly hear your advice. Your help is very appreciated BTW.

I am testing PSE 10 (I have PSE 6) and have installed PSE 10 under both WIndows 7 64 bit and WIndows 7 32 bit.  Both installations are fully updated.  The hardware is the same for all three of my regular XP (PSE 6) and these PSE 10 installs.  The catalogs and images are on a separate large drive (one directory set for PSE 10, one directory set for PSE 6).
I have found that PSE 10 crashes after a period of time when showing images in full screen mode (the slide show mode).  It is hard to say how long it will take, but somwhere around after diplaying 100-200 images PSE 10 crashes.  Worst case was after about the fourth (it might even have been the second).  Sound is 'none', captions are disabled, update rate is 2 seconds.
I have put PSE 6 on the W7 32 bit install and it runs perfectly.  (I am only using the PSE 10 organizer, I haven't tried the editor in any dpeth as yet).  PSE 6 ran for hours in slide show mode with not a hitch.
I have rebuilt and optimized the catalog (but the PSE 10 Organizer will run without trouble for hours if I am not in full screen slide show mode), so I don't think the catalog is damaged.
I have switched off all those background features (from the preferences).  I have run in XP compatibility mode.
This is a fresh W7 install and has no problems reported in it (AV etc).  There are no disk errors for example.  The PC has 8GB RAM (~3.6 available under W7 32 bit).  There is a lot of free space on both the C: drive and the data drive (100s of GB).
The Microsoft support for the crash is 'no support available' from the event viewer (or the W7 system health report accessed from the control panel).
Google search on the crash shows no useful light either, basically the Organizer just crashes.
Neither Adobe's search or a Google search on the forum seem to find a suitable similar experience.
All images are jpegs and are roughly the same size, very approximatly 4MB each.
Any other suggestions I can try?

    I’ve found a work-round.
This is embarrassing (for Adobe), as the work-round is to set the CPU affinity to single cpu mode. With that PSE 10 has been running in slide show mode for 3 hours now.  Looking good!
On a temporary basis, from the task manager, show the ‘processes’ tab, right click on the PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe *32 process, choose ‘Set Affinity …’ unselect ‘All’ and select (check) any one CPU.  (Under W7 32 bit I guess you won’t get the *32)
For a more permanent fix, using the start command with the affinity option is needed.  This is not compatible with the PSE 10 launcher though, if you use the launcher you will need to set the affinity as shown above.
To use the start command, from a command prompt type start /? for the syntax..
Try a google search of  “how to set the processor affinity” for further advice.
Now, should Adobe be reading this thread I have some advice for them:
“It is NOT POSSIBLE to conduct a reliability test of a program using a virtualized environment”.
I made the error of assuming that after the PSE 6 fiasco in a multi-cpu environment Adobe would not make the same mistake again.  Well, they have.  Perhaps this time they will conduct a root cause analysis of what they are doing wrong with their test plans and FIX IT, because I object to doing their testing for them, again.
