Thank you very much, now everything works like a charm. To activate fastboot, I have to reinstall windows right? And one more question: if I install windows the uefi way, will I be able to boot the normal way again? ie. with a graphics card that doesn't support gop

I would like to use the Win 8.1 boot feature, so can I get a new BIOS to my videocard?

The sticker also has the following numbers:

    R7770-PMD1GD5
And I also have another question. Can I use Atiflash on 64bit Win8.1?
    Thank you

    Use >>this<<
    Don't try flashing in Windows.
Decompress the provided .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (qd3.rar) and put the included file (TV271MH.150) on that stick.
Rename TV271MH.150 to 150.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive provided on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 150.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

  • Advise Please R7770 PMD1GD5 and Windows 8.1

I would welcome any advice that anyone can offer. I have a PC running Windows 8.1 and an R7770 PMD1GD5 graphics card which is apparently not compatible with UEFI.
MSI tell me that a BIOS upgrade might not be successful so would I be better to change my OS to Windows 7 Professional?
The issue I am getting is that while playing various games (BF3, Rust, DayZ, Civ V) the game will crash back to desktop while still running and showing 'not responding' in the task manager, the only way out is to kill the game through task manager.  On the odd occasion it causes the PC to reboot.
I'd be interested to see what people think I should do.
    Thanks in advance.

I swapped the psu over from my old PC. It was a pretty cheap PSU as far as I can remember, but it never caused any problems in my old PC.
How old, what brand, and what amps are on the +12V rail(s)? PSU is the heart of the system, not one of the components to skimp on.

  • MSI R7770-PMD1GD5 undervolting

Hello, decided to make a post here to be be informed about possibility (or non possibility) at least.
I have MSI R7770-PMD1GD5 videocard which runs at 1000/1125 Mhz default clocks and cpu voltage locked at 1.200 V.
I don't really need that much power from it when its fully loaded, so I run the card at lower clocks, but I can't lower the default voltage to something like 1.050 V in order to decrease power consumtion and unnecessary heat.
Is there any way to lower the default voltage/unlock it? Maybe some older or a specific bios version.
I have also HD7950 card, which works like a charm at 900 Mhz stock and even 1100 Mhz overclocked under 1.050V, so I don't really see a reason why 7770 should drain much more power than 7950.
PS: S/N just in case: 602-V271-070B1211127750.

All 7770 cards except for the Power Edition do not allow any manual voltage adjustment.

  • MSI R7770-PMD1GD5 - HOT!!!

    Hello Guys,
Im not much into gaming but tonight i wanted to play a bit just to unwind a little, so i fired up Lineage 2 and after 30 seconds the fan on the card started spinning like crazy the temperature jumped at around 85 degrees celsius.
Are these temperatures normal? or is there something wrong with the card and i should take it back while it's still under warranty?
    Thank you,

Around 76°C is actually quite good and to be expected with the cooler the card uses. Nothing above 90°C is to be worried about. Actually most AMD reference coolers are quite noisy and R7770-PMD1GD5 doesn't use an MSI Twin Frozr solution. I wouldn't try the cooler of the other cards as those are customized for a way different pcb. If you want to change the cooler to reduce noise go for an aftermarket solution. Due to the little thermal demands a quite cheap one would do.
For an almost inaudible card at the same or slightly lower temp level like the current cooler on 90% fan speed an Arctic Accelero L2 PLUS would do nicely. A review using it on a Radeon 7770 can be found >here<.
The number you found in GPU-Z is actually not the bios version. We need a link to your current vbios saved to file and the S/N to check. As the temps are to be expected with the cooling solution a vbios would most likely not make any difference though.

I know all 3.0 PCie cards are supposed to be backwards compatible but I've read that some of them really aren't.

  • R7770-PMD1GD5 got a problem with assassin's creed 3

    bought this card
and got this problem with max setting.
This happens when I turn AA to very high. What is the problem?

    Quote from: knight_9 on 14-December-12, 14:37:35
No, this only happens with AC3. I tested it with Far Cry 3 which the only graphic intensive game I have at the moment. I can max out the setting with FC3, the game is choppy but I can't reproduce the case.
First of all, the market is full of buggy games.
Secondly, R7770 is a mid-range (cheap) graphics card.
With only 128 bits memory interface, don't expect to play complex games at high resolutions, 8X AA and great FPS values.
To get an idea, GTX 560 is faster than R7770.
GTX 560 is a good GPU, but not a great one.
