R9 270x twin frozr installation issues

I have just replaced my GPU with the R9 270x twin frozr model and now I cannot boot the PC. When I switch it on the monitor says "no signal". When I remove the card and use the onboard graphics the computer boots fine. I have tried uninstalling the old (nvidia) drivers but there has been no change. Any idea how I can get it to work? I am using an MSi Z77-G43 motherboard.

can you list full detailed system specifications? see >>Posting Guide<<
have you connected all power cables to the card?
have you done >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed?

It's totally easy and welll documented. You'll need the win98boot file to point the tool to or it can't create a dos boot stick.
flobelix can u tell me which version is my vbios?

  • Msi gtx560-Ti Twin Frozr 3 Issues

    Hi,
My friend just sold me is msi gtx560-ti Hawk one week ago.The issue is that when i play a games for exemple Payday 2,after 5 minute of gaming my pc does a random reboot.
    Spec:
    Motherboard: Gigabytes 970A-DS3P
    CPU:AMD Fx-8350 Eight-Core
    Video Card:Msi gtx560-Ti Twin Frozr 3 Hawk
    PSU:RocketFish 550W
    HDD:2011 Seagate Barracuda 1tb
On the video card there is 8 red del light up(Bad?) and in the pc of my friend they were blue.Is it a problem of PSU?
Edit 1:I googled on internet and find nothing helpful so i decided to post in on the ''official'' forum

The only thing that was in my pc before i sold it was my PSU.
I just received last week from Ncix my CPU,8gb RAM and the motherboard.
The video card specs recommend a 600W PSU,but before buying a 700W PSU (just to be sure) i wanted to know if its really the problem.
I read on some forum that the led shows the power charge. So logically if its all blue its fine and if its all red its not?
Edit 1:The PSU was working very well in my old Pc.
    Motherboard:Gigabyte MA785G-UD3H
    CPU:AMD Phenom II X

  • R7850 Twin Frozr 2GD5 Issues

    Hello,
I've done a bit of searching and haven't been able to find a solution to this issue.
I installed my R7850 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC yesterday and upgraded my PSU at the same time and have been having several issues since the install.
First Issue: If I connect more than one monitor to the card, both screens go black and the only way to fix the issue is to unplug one monitor and hard reset the computer. When in safe mode or while booting, I do not have this issue.
Second Issue: If only 1 monitor is connected either through DVI, HDMI or Mini Display, the screen works for about 10 minutes before the display goes completely white or grey and the only solution is to hard reboot the computer.
Are these known issues? Do I have a flawed card? Should I get Svet's update that I have seen links to?
I have my computer info is:

also you can try different VGA drivers,
the latest one from msi web for your card
or the latest one from AMD/ATI web
    Before install/reinstall VGA drivers,

  • R6950 Twin Frozr III Issue

Ok, brand new build P8P67 Pro (Rev 3) initially boots up fine and I install windows. The next day I get no output to monitor with my MSI 6950 Twin Frozr III, also motherboard is beeping to indicate no VGA detected. Put it in second PCI-E slot and bingo, it works but it's at 8x.
Presume mobo faulty, got an MSI Z68A GD65, I get the exact same problem, won't show anything in primary slot but will run fine in secondary at 8x.
I really don't understand what the problem could be if not the graphics card in this case.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Rest of the spec:
    i5 2600k (stock speed)
    Corsair TX 650,
    Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz.

reseat the card into the slot and ensure that's filled very well into the PCI-E slot
also ensure that all power cables are connected to the VGA.

  • Trouble installing MSI R9 270x twin frozr

I recently purchased and installed the MSI Radeon r9 270x ( have 64 bit vista on an HP pavilion, intel quad core 2), and although I have video and can see/use my desktop and internet browser, the card does not appear to actually be detected or identified by the computer and the drivers do not appear to be installed correctly. I followed the rather rudimentary instructions provided in the "Quick User's guide" that came with the box, which basically explained that all I needed to do was to physically install the video card and then put in the accompanying CD and click on the 'install drivers' icon on the autorun menu. However, nothing happened. When I did first turn on the computer with the new card, I never really got a 'found new hardware' window. However, every time I restart the computer, a window pops up saying "Windows needs to install driver software for your video controller (VGA compatible)", and even though I click on "locate and install driver software" it always comes up when I start the computer.
So, I started installing the various software from the CD - actually when I click on "install VGA drivers" it automatically starts installing afterburner. Clicking on the icon at the top labeled 'driver', nothing happens (including the first time I tried using the CD).  Since this didn't work I tried looking to the internet to see what was wrong, and it occurred to me that I hadn't uninstalled drivers for my ATI radeon 4350 which was stock. I found that to do that I needed to uninstall ATI catalyst from my program list, which I did, but that still didn't change anything. I ended up reinstalling it anyway from the CD (which I assume is a more recent version).
After installing afterburner, then I tried installing Live Update 5, which claimed it was going through and installing all the relevant drivers. After spending some time downloading and installing all these drivers, nothing had changed and PC games still won't work. If I open up device manager, no video card is listed under "sound, video, and game controllers" and under 'other devices', there is listed "PCI device" and "Video controller (VGA compatible)", and the details listed for each of these is "unknown". Also, under display settings, if I click on the adapter tab, the details/properties all say "unavailable".
I've clearly done something wrong, but I have no idea what, and the instructions that came with this thing have been effectively useless. I'm looking forward to some good help on this. Thanks.

Be aware that this totally outdated machine might be not supporting latest generation vgas. It is already quite surprising that it actually shows an image and not a black screen as PCI-E Gen3 radeons usually don't work in PCI-E 1.1 slots. Still even a current machine usually requires a bios update for the latest vgas and your machine is surely far beyond any bios support. Furthermore a HP machine coming with a Radeon 4350 by default is surely using a cheap and low-wattage oem psu being insufficient for a R9 270X.
First check that psu. It needs to be at 24A on +12v and 500W minimum. If your pc is using a weaker psu there is no need about thinking how to get the R9 to work until you have a new psu.
If psu has been checked run >>Driver Fusion<< in safe mode and remove all current AMD drivers (freeware removal is enough). After reboot install the latest >>AMD Catalyst Display Driver<<. It might be needed to install >>Microsoft .NET4 Framework<< as well. Then retry.
If still no help try >>clearing cmos<< and retry. If that also fails you are most likely facing a compatibility issue.

So I built this Computer going on two weeks ago or so and after putting everything together and installing all the software the system ran fine for about 12 hours (not concurently). After that time I came hone started everything up and about an hour and half after starting I had a driver failure issue and it attempted to recover. Did this about 3 more times in the matter of about ten minutes before the screen went black and attempted to restart. Upon restating after getting past the bios splash screen when the raid screen came up there were $ signs all over the screen where there wasn't any text. Upon reaching the windows splash screen it essentially looked like someone had punched an LCD as the colors looked like they were running and mixing together as well as all the windows text looked Dot Matrix.
When it finally reached the desktop it shot up a window saying that there was no video hardware detected. So i attempted to uninstall the drivers I had been using at the time (280.26) and try reinstalling. Did not work. $ signs were still present and splash screen still looked broken. Tried reinstalling windows from the groud up and problem persisted. Installed my old EVGA 8800 GTS 512 and problem was immediately gone. Booted fine and installed drivers fine.
Next day I figured I'd give it one more shot so I installed the 560 back in and installed drivers and it appeared to be fixed. Everything went through fine and got to the desktop. After about 2 hours the probelm reappeared.(also tried an older driver this time 275.33) According to Afterburner the temps never got above in the upper 30'sC. Reinstalled 8800gts and has been fine for the last 2 weeks. Run plenty of games with out a hitch. Stressed the system across the board and everything has been fine.
Attempted to RMA with Newegg but as I had removed the UPC for the maill in rebate they would not RMA.
Essentially I'm just looking for any input someone might have or if this is an issue that anyone else has seen before I send it in to MSI on the RMA. Bios issues perhaps? I pretty much exhausted all options as far as drivers, different PCI slots on the board, changing which DVI port the cable was pluged into etc.
    Thanks for any help

If so, do you have instructions for flashing it?
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (102.rar) and put the included file (TV303MH.102) on that stick.
Rename TV303MH.102 to 102.rom. Put the atiflash.exe also included in the archive Svet provided on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 102.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

  • 570 GTX Twin Frozr II OC - Stability issues with newest drivers

    Hi there,
Been noticing lately that i've come across a nasty 280.26 Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding issue with my 570 SLI.
Some people running the 280.26 drivers have also reported, while others have said increasing voltage has fixed their problem.
Could I get some support in finding out how/what to set my voltages too?
The cards are 570 GTX Twin Frozr II OCs. I did get a bios update earlier in the year after some problems, they were clocked at the wrong speed. (786mh instead of 750mhz)
GPU-Z shows im running bios 70.10.17.00.03
    Is there a newer one?
    Thanks

You say the voltage range is upto 1.25mv , but how can a game be unstable but not make use of the 1.25mV barrier? Who is responsible for using the extra voltage when required?
People state they are increasing their mV to make some DX 11 games stable, but how?
If what your telling me, is that the cards are already set to use an increased voltage, why aren't they doing so?
As you can see, under load.... the higher mV range isn't used so the overclocks on the cards are pointless. The more games which come out that use DX11, the more problems you will get.
If it's down to drivers, someone needs to get onto nVidia from a corporate or business level because they won't respond to the end user, they just blame you guys for everything.

To add to that, I have to set the voltage to 1.00mv in Afterburner and to get Deus Ex HR more stable with the 280.26 drivers.
So what gives? Is it safe to update the bios to 1.00mv somehow?
Why are these problems only getting found out with the 280.26 drivers?
Where does the customer stand here? There's a direct problem with power handling by all parties involved.

  • HDMI-to-TV issue with N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II

I've recently run into a pretty bizarre issue with my N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II and my TV. I've been hooking up to my TV on and off for about a year with no issues. Recently, we rearranged a few things in the living room. When I set everything back up, it stopped working.
I used to be able to easily plug in and remove the HDMI cord to dictate whether I was watching/playing on my TV or regular monitor. Now when I plug in, nothing happens. If I shut down my computer before plugging in, my computer monitor goes blank. When I VNC in, I can see that the computer thinks it's displaying on my TV (it even says "Samsung"), but my TV doesn't detect anything.
I've tried a couple of different HDMI cords and I even sent in the card for repair with no luck. The really strange thing is that I've tried plugging into a different TV (with the same cord) and it worked exactly as expected. I've tried every HDMI port on my TV so I know that isn't the problem.
Any help? Has anybody had a similar issue?

Quote from: xmad on 09-August-12, 11:02:32
So the video card is detecting the samsung then, but the tv is blocking the signal? Are you sure you didn't do something really silly like plug it into a different slot than normal and you dont have it set to that port?
Yeah, I've honestly tried probably 20 different combinations of ports and cords and no matter which port I plug the card into, it's "grayed out" in the source list. Also, as I mentioned above, I was once able to plug into and out of the TV at will to switch displays. Now my computer only detects my TV after a restart, which absolutely wasn't the case before.
    Quote
What about the control panel settings under the multiple displays, have you tried "rigerous display detection" or "force tv detection" or resolution is set to something the tv can't handle.
I haven't tried rigorous display detection or force TV detection, but I'll look for those tonight. The resolution is set to 1080p/60hz, the default for the TV.
    Quote
Perhaps put the vga from your other computer in this one and see if it works, and the card in this computer in that one. (If this card worked in another computer on that tv you would know it's the drivers / software)
I'll try to see if I can get my hands on anything, but don't have any other computers lying around that I can use with the card.
    Quote
Are you able to reset the tv's settings to default and as total software rule out reinstall your os?
I've done the factory reset on the TV. I think reinstalling Windows will end up being one of the next steps I take.
EDIT: Also, I've ordered an HDMI-to-DVI cable. I'm going to give that a shot tonight and see if it makes a difference.

How to make USB key bootable: http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm
Once done rename NV255MS.103 to 103.ROM,
then copy 103.ROM to the USB key.
Then get attached flasher, and extract & copy both files nvflash.exe and CWSDPMI.EXE
    also to the USB key.
Then reboot the computer and boot from the bootable USB key,
when you see A:\ or C:\ type:
    nvflash.exe -b old.rom [ENTER]
Wait process to finish, this will backup/save your current VBIOS.
Then flash the new VBIOS with:
    nvflash.exe -4 -5 -6 103.ROM [ENTER]
Wait process to finish, then reboot the machine and you're done

  • N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC Stability Issues

Hello! I've recently purchased an MSI N580GTX Twin Frozr II/OC and I'm having the much talked about stability issues (CTD, black screens etc.). From what I've read it seems like the best solution is to tweak the voltage in Afterburner until you find a stable solution and then after thorough testing, request a custom BIOS flash.
Is this the best way to go? I'm presently at work so I can't actually get started right away  but I'd like to have a game plan in hand for when I get home tonight. Currently my card clock settings should be what they were out of the box although I've also read that some cards didn't come over clocked so what it says on the box might not be exactly what it's running at. I can look up the various card details this evening if it's necessary.
Also I'm not super concerned if I had to down clock or if the card didn't come over clocked. I just want to get it running stably
