R9 290 problem on MSI B75MA-P45

Hello there,
I have two computers here.
Comp1:
Main Board: MSI B75MA-P45
Bios Version: 1.9 (Latest)
Video Card: onboard
PSU: GigaByte 610Watt (Peak 750 Watt)
12v rail Rating of listed PSU:

Memory: 16GB
SSD/ HDD: 240GB SSD Samsung

Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit
Comp2:
Main Board: MSI-H61MA-E35 (B3)
Bios Version: -
Video Card: onboard
PSU: OCZ 500W Mod-X-Stream pro
12v rail Rating of listed PSU: -
CPU: G630
Memory: 8GB
SSD/ HDD: 240 GB SSD-
CPU COOLER:
Raid Card:
Sound Card:
Any Additional hardware plugged into your system:
OC:  No
Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit
The problem is that my new R9 290 doesnt work on the first comp. When pressing the power button the fan of the GPU is maxing and makes alot of noise. Connecting my monitor to the onboard GPU i see the comp is working and is booting into windows. Updating the Bios didnt work and chosing PEG instead of IGP doesnt matter.
To check if the R9 290 is working i put it in comp2. It boots normally, and no problems. I began to wonder if the PSU of comp1 is the problem.
So i Changed the PSU of comp2 to comp1 and pushed the power button. Same as before: alot of noise and not working.
Meanwhile it Boots into windows. Connecting my monitor to the onboard video I can see it boots into windows. But  I dont see the R9 290 at all in the hardware device list.
My first conclusion: The XFX R9 290 isnt recognized by the B75MA-P45 Motherboard at all, even when i switch the PSU from comp2.
I need the card to work on comp 1 because that is my computer. (Comp2 I borrowed from a friend for testing).

Litecoin mining :P, and for the games i play the setup is more then enough. If it would work...
A tip to all the Bit/Lite coin miners:
Just plug 6 AMD graphic cards into a piece of wood and you'll become a real "miner".

  • MSI B75MA-P45 "Reboot and Select proper Boot device"

Hey guys, I just had this PC delivered to me yesterday, pre-built after my specs. Been using their company for a decade and never had an issue (that said, they might very well have screwed up this time, but I would love some feedback).
So, when I plug in the PC and boot it it get stuck at "Reboot and Select proper Boot device" (and in the bottom right it blink between A2/B4 before it gets to the reboot prompt).
What I have done to try to fix this:
    1) Go into BIOS and swap around the boot order. No luck with that, and I cannot find the SSD HD on the list either.
    2) Confirmed it was set on AHCI mode.
    3) Booted with the MSI Motherboard CD to get to Winki. In the Winki file manager I do see the SSD HD with Windows installed! But the BIOS cannot find it.
    The specs:
    Board: MSI B75MA-P45
    Bios: E7798IMS V1.5
    VGA: ASUS Geforce GTX660Ti
    PSU:  Corsair CX 500
    Intel Core i7-3770
    Corsair Cooling Hydro H55
    RAM: Corsair XMS3 Vengeance CL9
Samsung SSD 840 Series 120 GB
    Seagate Barracuda 2TB
    Win 8
So I'm left a bit dumbstruck here. It seems quite clear the BIOS cannot find the SSD for some reason, but I'm not sure how to sort this?
I mean: I do see Windows in the Winki file manager, so the HD is clearly there and readable. But on the other hand it cannot find it in the BIOS so I can't choose it as a boot drive.
Any suggestions on what might cause this and how I could solve it?
    Thank you.

Wow, that was easier than I thought.. after hours of browsing internet, trying all kinds of BIOS settings, eventually I just opened the case and plugged out the SATA cables and plugged them back in. Boom, it works. Didn't expect it to be that easy since the Winki still could see the HD.
Seems BIOS is more sensitive than the Winki. But there you go, problem solved.

  • MSI B75MA-P45 and Red Caviar 3 TB

Hello! I recently purchased the MSI B75MA-P45 motherboard and the 3TB Red Caviar HDD. I had sent my computer to the shop for the installation and when I collected it, the techies there said something about how the Red Caviar is "too big" and that there were partition issues. They also mentioned the need to download some sort of an "unlocking" software for the motherboard to solve the issue.
But the HDD and the partitions seem to work fine. They are my D: and G: drives, at 1.99TB and 931 GB respectively. And I do believe these parameters are normal after formatting. Were they just mistaken about something? I just can't see what the problem is.
I would appreciate any input on this matter. Thank you!

  • MSI B75MA-P45 -- No POST beep

So this is my first build and my configurations are
    Intel i5 3570
    Corsair vengeance 4 GB DDR3
    Corsair CX600W PSU
Cooler master HAF 912 Combat cabinet
Nvidia GTX 660(Yet to be delivered)
    Seagate barracuda 1 TB
So,I breadboarded my motherboard with the CPU,heatsink,RAM and PSU.
I fired it up and there was no POST beep on the speaker.
Then I removed the RAM and I got 3 long beeps which means bad memory.
So,my question is that what is the culprit? I guess if it can manage to give 3 long beeps for no RAM,the processor is fine.
The leftover parts are PSU,mobo and RAM.I am yet to borrow a RAM from my friend and PSU seems fine as there was very less load on it(not even a GPU).
Is there anyone with a B75MA-P45 who faced anything like that? Can this really be a bad mobo? The caps seem fine and theres no point of static flowing into it.
Also, the fans attatched to the motherboard powerup as well so this might mean that power is being supplied to motherboard and it isn't short.
Please reply soon as I'm really worried and pissed off on this problem :|

    So,yesterday I wrote about how I couldn't get a POST beep.Now,things got worse.Today when I tried to power up the PC..it didn't :\ No cabinet fans spinning,no CPU fan snipping..NOTHING.
I removed the front panel headers and short the board manually to power it up but still the same.
PSU could have been bad but I tried the paper-clip method and the PSU's fan was working on when I used that method.
I have already applied for a replacement but as of now I would like to diagnose the problem. As with the paper-clip method,I short the 24 pin power plug. So,that means that 24-pin cable is working.
That comes down to either the 24-pin socket OR ATX 4 pin cable/SOCKET which is beside the processor. As I have a ATX 4x4 pin cable I tried to use both of them but to no avail.
That lowers down to the ATX 4 pin socket. So,that got screwed?
The last time I powered up my PC was yesterday by breadboarding it.After that I placed it back into the cabinet.
What are your thoughts on this one? Can you suggest me something to make it working again? Will CMOS reset help in such case?
And is it normal that my ATX 24 pin power cable has 23 wires?
Please reply as soon as possible.

  • B75MA-P45 and Intel Xeon E3-1230V2, is a videocard necessary?

    Hi all,
I want to buy a MSI B75MA-P45  in combination with an Intel Xeon E3-1230V2, but do I need to buy a videocard if I only need to use the Linux console. I will be installing a VMware ESX on it.
    Thanks in advance

Since the Xeon doesn't have integrated graphics, I think you have to connect a kind of dummy plug to an onboard graphics port to trick the system into thinking it has graphics and monitor.

  • R7770 on B75MA-P45?

Have been trying to fit a new MSI R7770-pmd1gd5 to an MSI B75MA-P45 in a PC running Windows8, but can't get any output. The PSU is 550W, the 6pin connector is connected, the previous card works fine in the slot. What do we need to do to get this combination working? - or are they not compatible...?
    Thanks!

It is an Advent DT2412: I7-3770, 16GB RAM, 2TB hard drive, Win8. It previously had a GT630 2GB graphics card (which still functions as expected when put back in the machine). The R7770 produces no output to the monitor at all (Iiyama E2482HSD via DVI)

  • MSI Motherboard B75MA-P45 (Cold Boot up)

I am having a problem with booting up first thing in the morning. When I power-up my computer will start to and then shut down. If I reset or manually hit the power button after that it will work fine for the rest of the day. The problem occurs only when the computer has been shut down for five hours or more. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? My motherboard is a B75MA-P45.

Make sure this is your board: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/B75MA-P45.html#/?div=BIOS
IF so, >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Use option 1 of the tool and point it at the compressed archive I attached then at your fat 32 formatted usb stick.
Then boot to the usb stick and proceed with flash.
If no help, let us know more info.

I want to thank you for all the help. As of now this has seemed to do the trick. Turned on computer this morning without a problem.

  • Problem with dual channel memory (B75MA-P45)

    Hello,
I can't make the dual channel memory working.
When I put DDR3 in slots 2 + 4 or slots 1 + 3 and even if all slots are installed with the same DIMM, it does not boot and restart in loop.
Currently, this mobo works with DDR3 in slots 1 + 2 (so without dual channel).
I have read posts about bent pins, therefore I inspected the CPU seating but nothing seems wrong.
My CPU has been recovered from a HP pavilion ; don't know whether it's important or not.
Hope someone has a tip for me.
    My configuration:
    Motherboard: B75MA-P45
    CPU: i5-2320
    Memory: tried several, finally tested 4 x 4GB Kingston PC3-10600 CL9 240 (KVR13N9S8/4)
Graphic card: Palit GeForce GTX-750 Ti

    Thanks for your answers.
    I'll try asap slots 3 & 4.
It's almost a new build (one month ago). The whole story is:
I bought the motherboard and two memory sticks of 2 and 4 GB DDR3 as I already had similar ones on my HP pavilion (but not exactly the same, not same brand). I expected to run on 12 GB dual channel memory. But the dual channel did not work at first try. After some additionnal testing, I tought it was because the sticks aren't compatible ones with others. So I purchased 3 sticks of Kingston 4 GB, exactly the same reference as one I already have.
Now, I'm pretty sure that this problem isn't related to memory sticks.
I already did a clear CMOS during installation for other reason but it didn't solve this problem.
Since, this PC works well with Win7. I tested it under considerable stress and it runs just fine.

  • Problem with B75MA-P45

    Guys:
I've got a B75MA-P45 LGA 1155 with an intel core I5 3450, but I want to install win7, appears error 0xc00000e9 and then reboot.
The hard disk is a Western digital WD5000AAKX 500 GB 7200 16 MB Sata 3, new.
In the BIOS, I changed from SATA to IDHE in advanced options, and then I could install windows.
The questions is why that happens?

    Yes. But it doesn´t work.
I Tried to install win7 in the HD, but in my old PC, and It worked.
When I conected the HD to B75MA-P45, It stop in starting windows, and reboot.
After that, I changed the BIOS config (IDHE to SATA in advanced options), and windows worked.
    I think that shouldn't happen....

  • B75MA-P45 with celeron g1610?

I bought IB Celeron G1610, and planning to buy B75MA-P45. My question is will it work with this MB? On CPU support list, for this board, is not listed, maybe the list isn't populated or something...

     Best to ask MSI.    http://us.msi.com/service/PreSaleForm/
That CPU was released this year, last BIOS update for that MB was December of last year so no telling whether that CPU would work or not, probably not or if it does it would not be fully supported and would possibly have problems with it.
Edit: I just did a bit of a search at MSI and from the list of MB's that support that CPU I found this B75 part of the list:
        B75A-E33
        B75A-G41
        B75A-G43
        B75IA-E33
        B75MA-E33
        B75MA-G43
        B75MA-P45
So apparently it is supported and MSI has not updated CPU support list since Dec last year.

I get BlueScreens PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA randomly. Is it that graphic card is not compatible with my motherboard? I runned HD Tune PRO my HDD is clear any MemTest86+ doesn´t show nothing (4GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600Mhz). I got Windows 7 Home Edition 64bit and nothing overclocked. What´s wrong?

When I try to update my BIOS on B75MA-P45 I get the corrupt file error:

  • B75MA-P45 BIOS Update

I wonder if someone could shed some light on this for me. I currently have a B75MA-P45 mainboard, or MS-7798 as live update labels it. Currently it doesnt allow me to get into the bios with my logitech usb keyboard and I have to plug in a ps2 one which kinda irritates me. Having flashed a great many bioses in the past I thought this should be relatively easy. Oh how wrong was I ?
So first of all I install live update from the website which comes under my board section so should in theory work, but when I download all the drivers and click bios II it informs me that it doesnt support that board. ? similarly when I try and execute msi control centre it tells me it doesnt support this board.
So I read in the bios something about winki being able to do it, so I download the image, burn it, start it up and then winki tells me it doesnt support this board.
How is all this possible when I download them from the msi site under my board section? Really, is there not a simple way to do this ?!?!?!
I haven't tried usb stick yet because I dont have one, but I just can't believe there isn't a windows flasher that will work.

    Quote from: christopher.roffey on 17-September-13, 04:44:23
Well most of those options mean I have to go and spend money on a usb stick just to upgrade the bios, which I've never had to before. And sure I'll probably get loads of flamers telling me how cheap they are but that's very much besides the point. I've flashed plenty of motherboards from windows before now without incident, you can always verify it before you reboot.
And besides, this does not explain the why it is that click bios 2, control centre and winki all say they do not support my board, and yet they were downloaded from the boards section on the msi site.
    Any explanation for this ?
I also flashed lot of boards before without problem but my last try using a windows and this "great" live update utility lead to a bricked board and it was not my fault. I've got BSOD so there was no way to go back. So many things can happen in windows so my recommendation after this xperience is to never flash the bios in windows! The board is now at manufacturer to reflash the chip... A moth lost for me...
