Rac certification

I am in the process of gathering some information to see if Solaris containers (local zone) is a viable proposal for database consolidation.
refer this link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/virtualizationmatrix-172995.html#NoteSparcLocal
I see that the "Supported Virtualization and Partitioning Technologies for Oracle Database and RAC Product Releases" list Solaris 10 containers on SPARC is supported with 11.2.0.2. Now that 11.2.0.3 has been released I dont see this matrix being updated to show that 11.2.0.3 is supported on Solaris10-Sparc-containers for RAC and Single Instance when using Oracle clusterware (NOT when using Sun Cluster)
Question1: what is the support for 11.2.0.3 on Solaris10- Sparc containers ? Is this a certification that is pending and just a matter of time or is the support completely dropped?
Question 2: For customers already having 11.2.0.2 running inside Sparc-Solaris 10 containers using Oracle clusterware (which is a supported configuration) , can they upgrade to 11.2.0.3 even though the matrix doesnt explicitly say 11.2.0.3 is supported?
Question 3: For Sparc-Solaris 11 containers, is 11.2.0.3 supported with Oracle clusterware? Currently the supported virtualization technology matrix shows that 11.2.0.3 is supported on Sparc-Solaris 11 containers only when used with Solaris Cluster 4.0. Is Solaris Cluster mandatory or is support for Oracle clusteware on Solaris11-Sparc containers with 11.2.0.3 planned and just a matter of time ?

yes as it is providing real-time monitoring of database activity on the network.
and Database firewall is independent of the database configuration and operation.

  • Oracle RAC certification

    hi all ,
i have OCA and OCP certification for database administrator 10g , i need to take oracle RAC certification 11g
what is the best scenario should i do .

Your best option would probably be to upgrade your 10g DBA OCP to 11g DBA OCP with exam 050, then move to 11g RAC with exam 058. This way you do not have to complete additional training.

Regards, ButterflyAt the time of this posting the relevant Oracle website is undergoing th old maintenance ...
Normally goto [http://www.oracle.com/education/certification] ... then look at the Certification paths menu items and view all certifications and locate it.
    From memory it is either:
For properly certiifcated 10g/11g DBA OCP 's : pass 1z0-048.
For others attend one of the associated authorized* 10g/11g RAC training course from oracle university (or possibly selected authorized partners); pass 1z0-048 and submit your attended course for verification.

Perferance is on 11g ....The RAC Exam is not yet out for 11g and as per the Certification Program Manager(and the moderator of this forum) , there is no defined timeline of its launch as well yet announced. If you are willing to go for RAC certification , the only option you have , in terms of certification is +1z0-048+ path. See the details of it from below link,

And even for the learning, I would suggest to start from 10g since there are many new things added to RAC from 11.2 and learning the previous information would surely be helpful in grasping the new concepts. Its just a suggestion and choice definitely remains with you .

  • Is classroom training mandatory for RAC and EBS Certification?

    Hi All,
Is classroom training Mandatory to get RAC Certification? (RAC on 11g Database)
Is classroom training Mandatory to get EBS Certification? (R12)

I an remember this off the top of my head ...
For practical purposes the answer is yes.
    - either ou would have had to have taken the associated training course ...
    - or you would have had to be an 11g DBA OCP (and training is required for that unless you certified a long while ago as a 7(8?) DBA OCP before the requirement and have upgraded become 11g DBA OCP by upgrades)
Is classroom training Mandatory to get EBS Certification? (R12)
I cant remember / don;t know this off my head.
    But Oracle's websire tells you:
    Visit http://certification.oracle.com
Locate you certification ... and mandatory training will be detailed there.
The required training courses are detailed.
If yes, then what is the cost for this...http://education.oracle.com will give details of training courses and costs for your country.

  • Advice needed for oracle certification

    HI
    I have completed my "1z0-007" and "1z0-042"  in 2009.
Now i am planning to do oracle RAC certification, what is the best way to do it, I mean with my existing certification what other certification i have to do before i write the oracle RAC certififcation ?
    Thanks in Advance.

The pre-requisite for the RAC certification exam is OCP for the database (the same or higher version).
Thus, for 1Z0-058 (Grid and RAC Expert in 11g), you need to be an 11g or 12c OCP.

I'm not sure what you're asking...
Assuming you need to have the 10g client installed on the middle tier (if your middle tier is a J2EE application server, those folks will probably want to use Oracle's Type 4 (thin) JDBC drivers, which don't require the 10g client), yes, you can install just the 10g client. Depending on the operating system, there may be a separate client-only download or you may have to download the entire database and choose to do a client-only install.

  • ISCSI Recommendations for RAC Setup

    Hi all,
My company is interested in setting up Oracle RAC for back-of-house processing (all traffic would be internal...no client facing apps or anything) and are looking to do so by using an iSCSI shared storage device. We are currently using the Dell MSD3000i in an Oracle fail-safe solution, but I'm not 100% confident that it will be able to handle a RAC setup. Has anyone out there had any experience using this device with RAC? Any recommendations out there from someone who has had good experiences with a similar device?
The vision for the current setup is having a two-node RAC with two quad-core servers running Windows 2008 64-bit with 32 GB of RAM each. We would be running Oracle Standard Edition.
Any feedback given would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi
    1) Oracle does not certified hardware, but Oracle RAC certifies storage technologies as Fiber channel, SCSI and iSCSI. Please take a look to: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/clustering/certify/tech_generic_window_new.html
    2) With your storage device i think this link could help you:
    http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/solutions/FINAL_10gR2_SE_RAC_on_MD3000i_RefConf_v1%203.pdf?c=ae&l=en&s=bsd
But it is on linux, maybe you can switch to Red Hat or Oracle Enterprise Linux.

  • SAN bootable RAC nodes -  PROS & CONS

    Hi,
I'm trying to weigh in the PROS & CONS of having OS installed on SAN instead of local disks, in RAC participating nodes. One of our clients is insisting on this.. and here is an overview
    the proposed RAC configuration...
    Oracle 10.2.0.3
    RHEL4U5 (2-node)
    EMC Clarion SAN
    Qlogic HBA
Is SAN boot really in the RAC certification matrix? Has anyone already come across this scenario? I googled around and looked metalink... couldn't find any pointers.
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Raj K

It is not in the ceritication matrix because it is not not supported. That is, Oracle doesn't care if the host is SAN booted or not. Most installations running on a SAN have filesystems from which Oracle is located running directly off the SAN.
It is a little different to set up, mainly BIOS settings on the host hardware to pick up the volume group(s) for the OS kernel. But other than that, it is essentially a good idea. It divorces the need to backup individual hosts. As long as the SAN backup is good all of your servers are good. Secondly, it makes the OS independent of the host, that way if a host node dies or has hardware issues you can replace it, set the BIOS and restart. IBM does this on all machines with LPARS and if you think about it, that is how all VMs work.
    Cheers!

    Regards,
Shitesh ShuklaYou can take the exam 1z0-048 whenever you like (subject to booking and subject the exam being retired ... and there wont be plans for that yet though there are plans for an 11gR2 RAC certification sometime not too distant).
However you will only attain the certification after you meet all the certification pre-requisites .... (which requires you to become an 10g DBA OCP or 11g DBA OCP ( or submit and the Hands on course attendance verification)).

  • *** rac and vm ***

    Hi Oracle,
When will the rac be certified with vm? Any ETA?
    Edward.

Good question, as far as I know based on what the last Oracle Metalink note says for VM and RAC certification from the RAC FAQs and Note 249212.1 on Oracle Support, there is no future support date given for deployments with VM environments. The only support that I can gather from Oracle Metalink is that if the issue is with Oracle and the underlying OS, then basic assistance may be given.
Also be advised, Oracle has not certified RAC for VM environments yet based on what I can find out on Metalink.

  • Using NFS for RAC

Hi I am planning to use NFS for RAc but I am not able to find the certified NAS devices.Where can I get the list
    Thanks

    NAS is NFS.
    See
Following NFS storage vendors are supported: EMC, Fujitsu, HP, IBM, NetApp, Pillar Data, Sun, Hitachi.
NFS file servers do not require RAC certification. The NFS file server must be supported by the system and storage vendors.
Currently, only NFS protocol version 3 (NFSv3) is supported.
