RAC Nodes on two different network segment, what can go wrong?

In two node RAC, what are the disadvantage if both nodes are on different segment of the network?
So both node will have public interface on different segment, but interconnect will be on same segment.
Both nodes have same gateway and both network segments goes to same switch.
It is Solaris, Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4)

Hi,
The Public IP addresses and virtual IP addresses must be in the same subnet.
This is necessary because the VIP-IP (both nodes) should work on both public networks.
Recently I set up RAC Extended with diferents networks (subnet). When all nodes is up everything is fine. But When one node down, clusterware freeze node survive because he try setup vip-ip (different subnet) from node down on node survive.

How to use two different network cards on RT?

Hi everyone... I'm currently working on a project where I have to deal with the issue mentioned in the thread's topic: I have a PC with RT LabVIEW that has to be able to establish network connections using two different network cards. One will be used to connect via TCP/IP with a host computer that will show the data transmitted through shared variables; the other will communicate with another PC through Modbus protocol. The key is that each communication is done through a separate network card.
So far I haven't been able to figure out how to configure both things to happen. Does anyone know how to do this? Any tips will help.
For the RT communication I'm using a standard RT project, with the RT PC being given one of the IPs, and for the Modbus part, I created an I/O server with a master and a slave. Separately everything works fine, but when I get them together it simply won't work.

Sorry it took me so long to answer, I've been busy lately....I've found a solution to the problem I mentioned, and just in case anyone has similar problems in the future, I'll shortly describe what happened.
As Caseyw suggested, it was necessary to enable both network cards through the Measurement and Automation Explorer. The cause of the connections malfunction was actually that I wasn't using the "right" protocol for the Modbus communication, which ran on the secondary adapter. The solution was to use the URL protocol with the correct path on the field, addressing the right IP address. To avoid making this post a mixture of topics, I won't elaborate futher, but I got the gist of it, so if anyone is having similar problems whether it is working with several network cards or with Modbus communication protocols, feel free to contact me, I'll be glad to help.

How do I access a USB server on a "different network segment"?

I have tried posting this question in the Server community but with no response, however I believe the solution will be achived through Terminal and I believe there will be those versed in the use of Terminal here, so here goes.
I have a USB Server with four ports attached to my ethernet LAN. If I enter the IP address into Safari it shows me the Server details and the details of any item attached to any of the ports. However I cannot access anything on the server. If I put the IP address into Connect to Server I get an error message. Apparently the Server is on a "different network segment". How can I overcome this?

There are several possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps until it's resolved.
1. Follow the instructions in this support article.
2. Reset the System Management Controller.
3. If you're using a Bluetooth trackpad, investigate potential sources of interference, including USB 3 devices.
4. A swollen battery in a MacBook Pro or Air can impinge on the trackpad from below and cause erratic behavior. If you have trouble clicking the trackpad, this is likely the reason. The battery must be replaced.
5. There's a report that a (possibly defective) Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can cause the built in trackpad of a MacBook to behave erratically. If you're using such an adapter, disconnect it and test.
6. There's also a report of erratic cursor movements caused by an external display that was connected but not turned on.
7. If none of the above applies, or if you have good reason to think your computer is being controlled remotely, remove it from the network by turning off Wi-Fi, disconnecting from a Bluetooth network link, and unplugging the Ethernet cable or USB modem, whichever is applicable. If the cursor movements stop immediately, you should suspect an intrusion.

If it is in your itunes on your computer, then select it to sync just like everything else that you sync.
The music must be on your computer.

There is no "adding" a device. Simply plug the iDevice into the computer. iTunes should automatically detect the device when it is connected.
iTunes can sync/manage as many iDevices as you want... there is no 1 device limit.

By "game center account", do you mean Apple ID?
If so, you can change it.
1. Tap settings and navigate to iTunes and App Stores
2. Tap "Apple ID" and then tap "Sign Out"
3. Log in with a different ID.

Force the phone into recovery mode and restore it. Do NOT restore your backup. The restriction settings are part of the backup. If you can't remember the restriction passcode, there's no other way around it.

AirPort Utility was unable to find your AirPort wireless device after restarting. I have tried to setup two different Airport Expresses with two different home networks with the same result. It simply wont restart to join the network. I have setup others with luck but these two and not restarting. This router is Netgear, but the other netwrok was Airport Extreme.

I won't try to help you with that Netgear router, but are both the AirPort Express and the AirPort Extreme 802.11n-capable? Is the AirPort Extreme configured to "Allow this network to be extended"? How did you try to configure the AirPort Express?

This is only for experimental purposes. I have used ssh before, by using command like this:
(time cat /run/shm/test/input/totalInput.tar | ssh username@ip-server "cat > /dev/null") 2>>/run/shm/test/p3_UC_ctime_tar.txt
or this, if I tried to compress a file and then transfer:
(time bzip2 -kfc1 /run/shm/test/input/totalInput.tar | ssh username@ip-server "cat > /dev/null") 2>>/run/shm/test/p3_ctime_tar.txt
However, I think ssh is killing my transfer speed. I am getting only 10-20Mbps.. Router should support over 200-300Mbps.
What can I use besides ssh? I was thinking about netcat, but what I don't like is that I have to open port on the other side for each new file transfer.

Well, what I am conserned with things like scp and ssh (I tried scp too) is encryption.
I just moved one file over to a server with scp, and I got about 2.1MB/s... which is about 16.8 Mbps..
I am using Linksys E900, which is wireless-N router. Connection exist between two computers only, nothing else is using that router. However, there is another wireless point outside of our room, which is used for public University network. I don't know how much of effect it would have on our set up.
Both computers have plenty of disk space. One computer (actually development board) uses sd-card for its OS and other disk space.
About 200-300Mbps.. is just something I saw on router's specs.
