I want to clone RAC-to-RAC node one 11gr2/r12.0.6 of e-business Suite.
Is threre any step diffrent than Note 559518.1? Any advice.

i am trying installing RAC on vmware -> Oracle 11g Release 1 RAC On Linux Using VMware Server 2
using

i have limited memory 1GB each
whenever i power on both nodes
i always find1 instance is mounted and the other is open
is that Rac instances defaults , or that becaue of limited memory ?

i did not check the alert_log "SORRY"
i am now deleting the DB and will create it without the oracle JVM , as this is recommended for limited Memory VM
because also i enabled Enteprise Manager , and runnig using ASM,so both that take Memory as well.
can you please tell me the configuration of the db and asm for the 700M VM?
as i noticed that the host get his Memory consumed almost all of it .
my configuration
1- Host (Windows Vista Business 4GB RAM with PAE enabled (but not surew it can use more than 3GB or not !))
2- 1GB MEMORY X 2 VM Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.1
3- VMWARE 2

Oracle Apps RAC TO RAC cloning from Netbackup(tape)

I am doing RAC to RAC cloning on linux 5 following is the note id i follow
Cloning Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 RAC-Enabled Systems with Rapid Clone [ID 559518.1]
In this note step 4.2 we use adclone.pl to prepare the stage on source using "Method=Rman", i think this creates image backup of the database on source system
In step 5.1.4.1 we restore the database on target using the stage backup we took in source.
So, here i was thinking if it is possible to use Netbackup server (tapes) for "rmanstage=" parameter. Because we don't have that much disk space to accommodate backup and as with Rman duplicate database we directly connect to tape with auxiliary for cloning, Please let me know if we can use this process with the above adclone.pl

Hi Tanveer,
Yes what you want is allowed, you are free to clone your DB using rman outside of the cloning utilities.
When you want this make sure you follow:

E-Business Suite 12 on ASM - RAC - Very Large Banking Database

Oracle is recommending to go with ASM - OMF RAC for a fresh implementation of E-Business Suite 12i on AIX nodes, the database is expected to growth quite rapidly as per business case.
I request all members to contribute their experience and issues they faced in their day to day support and issues with cloning from Apps DBA prespective.

RAC and RAC One Node on the same server?

Hello all,
Anyone know if having RAC and RAC One Node on the same server is possible, supported, and recommended? Our architecture group is moving towards this configuration as a standard, and I need solid direction about feasability.

Yes you can have the RAC and RAC one on the same cluster. For support and recommendations raise a service request with oracle support

I am following Doc IDs 406982.1 & 559518.1.
But its not clear which directories need to be copy and restore for Shared Appl top on each Node.
Also what Steps will need to be executed on Each Nodes and
What Steps need to be executed only on one Node.

Edit /u01/startapps.sh and stopapps.sh
Add VIS to the environment lines " . /u01/E-BIZ/apps/apps_st/appl/APPS*.env"
Change to => ". /u01/E-BIZ/apps/apps_st/appl/APPSVIS*.env"

+The path is different (first path is db while the second one is apps), so copy the file from the source instance to $COMMON_TOP/clone/context/apps directory on the target instance and try then -- Troubleshooting RapidClone issues with Oracle Applications R12 [ID 603104.1]+
What I meant to say that CTXORIG.xml already exists in the correct directory in the target system:
$COMMON_TOP/clone/context/apps
Anyways, I recopied the file from source to the target system $COMMON_TOP/clone/context/apps, but still the same problem. I'll continue reading "Troubleshooting RapidClone issues with Oracle Applications R12 [ID 603104.1]".

RAC DB failover from one Datacenter to Standby site

Hi,
I have 2 node 10gR2 RAC cluster running on Linux with ASM and E-business suite is configured with this 10gR2 RAC DB. Would like to setup standby site with single instance and not go with RAC for now until we procure additional hardware. Also no plans in setting up DG as solution. Does anyone has similar setup? During failover we have the capability to migrate the VIP's (names) to the failed DC but the IP's will change since there is no L2 extension b/w DC's to retain the same IP. Synchronous replication is setup at disk level using EMC SRDF
Question:
1) Will i be able to bring up the RAC DB in single instance node at second DC using non-rac code tree? IF so can anyone share whitepaper/docs on how to bring up RAC db as non-RAC environment. Logically i think it should work if i have right spfile with no RAC specific parameters.. Would like to hear from experts.
2) Wanted to minimize the configuration changes at the E-business suite level since we plan to bring the VIP's over to failed DC.
3) Does the crs registry manages information about VIP name to IP address? since my IP address will change when i migrate the VIP name from one DC to other DC. Will it be relevant at all since we plan to bring up the db in single instance mode at the failed over DC?

1) When you say you want to have it in a non-RAC mode. what do you mean, your current DR is a RAC however during disaster you want it to be in a non-RAC mode. Yes it would be possible, you can turn off the CLUSTER_DATABASE parameter to FALSE and bring the database as a single instance database. with this option you still will have the RAC features such as dictionaries etc however not used. the other option of completely turning of the RAC feature and getting it back to a single instance configuration may require additional steps.
which ever method you pick, you should consider the workload, will this single instance be able to handle the entire workload that originally existed on a RAC configuration.
2) VIPs dont failover outside the RAC cluster. the method normally followed is to have a database service configured on the primary and as part of a database startup trigger ensure that the database service is enabled on the DC site. There is a paper on OTN on how to do this.
3) Yes, the VIP information is stored in the OCR file.

Need to implement Oracle RAC on two nodes.I am trying it first time so need some basic advice from you all regarding the basic requirements for installing RAC.

Are there any more softwares,other than Oracle11g setup, needed for installation?On Linux, you need a certified distro. When installing Grid Infrastructure, it will verify s/w components and lists the ones it need (suh as libaio, gnu c compiler, etc). yum install fixes that (on RHEL-based distros).
What are the basic things I should keep in mind before installing RAC.RAC is only ever as good as the h/w infrastructure it runs on. Specifically the I/O fabric layer and the Interconnect layer. If these are shoddy, not redundant, slow ito b/w, slow ito of latency, then you WILL have a RAC that fails to perform, fails to scale, and is unable to provide high availability and redundancy.

Is it true that Oracle does not support cloning of single node instance EBS R12.1 (Non-RAC) to RAC?
Is there other supported way to do it? both using rapid clone or manual?

Hi,
How about the patches needed? Make sure you have the latest Rapid Clone and AutoConfig patches applied on the source instance.
Our source db is 11.1.0.7, and the target db is also 11.1.0.7 ....but there are patches mentioned in 802875.1
Do I need to follow this Note?If you are already on 11.1.0.7, then you do not need to apply those patches.

RAC to Single node cloing

Hi all,
We have our production running on 2 node RAC and its in ASM cluster and AppsTier on single node
Node 1 - AppsTier
Node 2 - RAC 1
Node 3 - RAC 2
Now I would like to do a cloning for the production from RAC to Single Instance
Is there any doc or steps to be followed for the RAC to single instance cloning ??..

Export problem in RAC database (two node) setup

i'm not able to do any backup like RMAN,export... While doing export following error is coming on the oracle 10.2.0.3.0 RAC database (two node) on windows server 2003...

ORA-06512: at line 1i checked the status of the components- but all the components are in valid status only.. but there are 137 invalid objects in the database... while running utlirp.sql in open mode, it tells to shut the database & run at startup migrate mode...
please provide me the possible solution for this issue.. it is a very critical situation...
