Hi,
I have a questions that maybe some one on this forum can aswer or point me to the correct place to look for an answer.
I just finish installing RAD 7.0 but when I try to create a project I don't see the option to create a Portle projectI can see that option on my 6.0 is call something else or someting didn't get install correctly

I'm not sure about RAD 7 but with RAD 6, Portal tools was not part of the default install. You had to check the Portal Tools option when doing the base installation and then you had to install WebSphere Portal Server V5 test environment from one of the optional disks.
Did you get the same options with RAD 7?

How do I setup Forms not to ask RAD username/password when opening a form

Good day
I have setup oid and sso and they work I can sign on to database with an oid user using sqlplus.
If I set SsoDynamicResourceCreate=true and enter the user id and password in at the popup it works correct and won’t even ask it again
What I want to know how can set portal to use a RAD/DAS without prompting for a username password.
We need to do this for all +/- 30000 users and if so how do we do it pragmatically.
I think because I don’t have much APPS experience I basically don’t know where this must be set globally
APPS is version 10.1.2

Current environment:
- All users were created with identified externally in Database (OPS$)
- SSO was setup correctly according to OID admin guide Ch 43 and SSO admin guide ch 8 for App10g. (user login orasso without seeing basic auth/sso login form)
- DB parameters:
remote_os_authent=TRUE
os_authent_prefix=' '
issues:
- set ssoDynamicResourceCreate = true
When user hit the form link, i.e. http://host:port/forms90/f90servlet?config=test&form=appwelcome
it redirects to http://host:7777/oiddas/ui/oracle/ldap/das/mypage/AppCreateResourceInfo?...
where it shows Resource Name TEST and prompts username/password/database
when user inputs window logon /password/database value (same as in form6i)
it returns ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied.
- set ssoDynamicResourceCreate = false
manually set RAD for the end user (I am not sure if I am doing this correctly):
Name = test
TYPE = oracledb
username = (blank)
password = (blank)
datebase = prod
When enduser hits the form link, it returns ORA-01017.... same errors.
Any ideas how to trouble shoot and configure RAD for users with OPS$ auth?

This is how our current production is setup that users use os authent (OPS$) to access forms/reports 6i. I'm just trying to migrate it to app10g environment.
I did configure SSO with WNA, it works fine. Any users can access NON-DB connected forms/reports. Only when forms/reports require DB conn, users who
have db password can access them with one click. But users identified externally will keep seeing Oracle Logon and Ora-01017 after authent into MidTier.
Setup RAI with one real db user account is not ideal since there are 1000+ OS authent users who have different database roles. Turn off the OPS$ and setup dummy password for 1000+ users may be the last solution.

SQL Expressions in RAD -Getting error during runtime while generating rpt

We have just migrated from WSAD to RAD Version: 7.0.0.7.
The issue is: I am getting the error at the runtime when I am trying to use the SQL expression in my one of the report. The SQL Expression feature is not supported by this version of RAD. I checked the Help contents. It says
Field Objects: SQL expression fields
This report contains SQL Expression fields. These fields are not visible in this version of the Crystal Reports designer, but they will be evaluated by the system when the report is executed. New SQL Expression fields cannot be created by the designer. SQL Expression fields will remain in the .rpt file after saving and can be edited by other Crystal Reports designers
To me it seems you can use the 'SQL Expressions' in the report using some Crystal Reports designers and at the runtime it will be evaluated. So I edited my report with some Crystal Reports Designer and tested it on WSAD. It worked fine. Now since we have migrated to RAD, this is an issue since I am getting the following error:

Crystal report generation with Java Bean AS Data source on RAD

Web application with RAD tool inside for dynamic JSP building

I would realize a J2EE Web application based on JSP,Struts and eventually Spring for transaction management and iBatis for data access in my opinion very complex.
The application presents search, list and detail pages, and the information visibility depends on the user.
Each edit page could be based on a single page or many tabs, and a tab could contain entity's information or information associated to the entity subject of the page, displayed as list. The informations in editing phase will be controlled by javascript rules.
A web application administrator will set the information's grants (hidden, readonly, read and write) for each entity managed inside the application.
Now there is the complication: each page (search, list, detail) must be built by the web application administrator with a configurator/builder directy inside the same web application on the server!
For example, for a detail page:
1) each tab must be defined and named: so I can't develop a static number of tabs, in which I managed a fixed set of data inside each of these tabs. I must develop a page with all the entity's fields and all the rules, and then the web application administrator set which informations must be available for each tab from the same page detail developed. The tabs in which there's a list could be displayed or not, and the data in the list follow the grants setted by the web application administrator.
2) the web application administrator can specify all the data inside a tab: every tab will be built indicating which fields show or edit if the user has the grants. For example for entity1, we could define a detail page for user1 with field1, field3 and field2, while for user2 we could define the detail page with tab1 within field2, and a second tab, tab2 within field3.
3) the web application administrator can specify the layout inside the tab, indicating the pixel position inside the tab, or the application could provide a visual tool, in HTML, in which there is a design area, and in which the web application administrator clicks in a point and positions in it an information, and even specify the style's properties (color, font, background,...)
4) the application must provide to the users the possibility to define new fields for an entity, and must manage them adding in whichever tab for that entity. For such informations will be possible only management without controls except the controls of type (data, int, money, ...)
In my opinion point 3 I think it's part of a report tool and not of detail visualization; moreover all the styles of a page must be personalized, not only the informations contained inside the tabs. I think the only solution in a highly configurabile application is to show the search/detail fields 1 for row, and not with a positioning based on pixel coordinates or positioning with a RAD tool.
I ask to you:
- have you ever seen or realized web application that they supply application design tools within the same application, realized in HTML+Javascript?
- is realizable this kind of application?
- ...any suggestion to supply for proceeding?
Honestly my ideas are to realize points 1 and 2; I suppose point 3 is not feasible and that the result of the styles customization is little appropriated; for point 4 I suppose to simplify the management of new data by managing all the new ones inside the same tab, or I will have to think another possible solution...

is realizable this kind of application? I would think so - yes. It requiresa good team - 4 or 5 developers with excellent jsp/servlet knowledge :)
- ...any suggestion to supply for proceeding? Such kind of functionality is achievable only in 1 way-DB, always. You would store the information for each entity and the permissions for each attribute of that entity per user in the db. You can consider having roles (teams), assign permissions to the roles and then add users to the roles so that they inherit the permissions. You should be able to ovderride the permissions per individual user too.
I would say you first plan this out in a piece of paper, convert it into relationships in the db. Implementing the jsp solution is by far the easist (& tedious :)), IMO
ram.

Is it possible to retrieve RAD's extended variables with a pl/sql function?

Good morning everyone,
We have our forms and reports(10g) application, SSO enabled and we are using OID on 10g app server. some of our users use smart card to log in to the system and some who do not have smart cards provide their database userid, password and SID.
In the case of users who login with smart card, as a one time effort, they have to register their smart card. At that point OID presents a form prompting for their username, password, sid and then a RAD record is created for that particular user.
And from then on when the user enters the system using his smart card(12345@mil), forms servlet, does the look up of dbusername,dbpswd,sid which belong to the 12345@mil and user's database credentials are passed to the application. The entire application logic is based on that userid which is also an internal userid in the application. Everything is working fine.
I have read the documentation and found that 12345@mil is stored in the "cn" parameter and the orclownerguid and orclusernameattribute are stored under "cn"=extended properties in the oid. I am able to see this from the oid console.
But now I need some help. If I only know the id of the user as "12345@mil" , is it possible to manually query the RAD and retrieve the orclusername from a pl/sql function?

Upgrade to MDEX 6.4.0 and RAD toolkit issues

Hi,
We are currently evaluating the 6.4 build for use with our web app and are having issues due to it being designed with the RAD toolkit for the 6.1.3 build of MDEX.
Process.
Upgrade of MDEX to 6.4
Update the Reference App (normal not Rad) with the presentation API dll's
Run Reference app and it works as usual.
Upgrade current web app with Presentation API dll's and the fun started. (this pointed to needing to Upgrade to RAD Toolkit for 6.4 (RAD 2.1.3)
Upgrade to RAD toolkit
Upgrade all references to use the new RAD dll's
now we get +"Error reading from the connection.The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found."+
After stepping through the code everything looks good. It points to the MDEX server @ port 16000 (which is exactly what the Reference App uses)
At that point I decided it might pay to see if the RAD reference app would run.
Configure iis7 to use the RAD reference app and Run the site.
Set the input box's to point to our MDEX server and MDEX port and it returned the following error.
An unexpected error occurred: Error reading from the connection.The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.
at Endeca.Navigation.OptiBackendRequest.GetContent() at Endeca.Navigation.OptiBackend.GetNavigation(OptiBackendRequest req) at Endeca.Navigation.HttpENEConnection.Query(ENEQuery neq) at Endeca.Data.Provider.PresentationApi.CommandExecutor.ExecuteCommand(EndecaCommand command)

I am facing the same issue.I installed the entire setup(mdex version 6.4.0,tools and frame work,platform services,RAD tool kit) and configured a project .The project runs fine in workbench and in the reference jsp application.But i am unable to connect it through the RAD tool kit.I get the same "Error reading from the connection.The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found." error.

How to install Flex SDK in IBM RAD?

Hi All,
I'm new to Flex and facing some trouble in installing flex 4.6 sdk in my existing IBM RAD application.
There are few flex files that are included in the new release and I need to work on those files (test/debug) to make sure that existing application is not affected with these files.
I have installed Flash Player and latest Flash Builder 4.0 and 4.6 plugin on my system for this purpose.
The Flex SDK, however, I'm not able to configure on my RAD.
Because of this, I'm not able to see the Flex Prespectives in my RAD and mxml & as files are giving error in text editor.
Please guide -
1. How to configure the latest Flex 4.6 SDK in RAD.
2. Apart from what I have done already, do I need to do anything else to debug/test the newly added flex files in my RAD.

Arie the thing is that i saw the post you mentioned above and it's kind of tangled,isn't there anyway or any sourceful website for step by step guide because i already mentioned that i am a brand new c/c++ programmer and i have no experience how to do programming in c/c++ as i am android and java developer using eclipse tool so visual studio is somewhat a new world for me.
Please if you have any step by step guidence link or website in your mind,do let me know i anxiously look forward for a step by step guide,but let's say if you don't have anything i want it's perfectly fine i ll try to dig more and work and look in VS 2010 because may be i am new and that's why i can't find the SDK integration.

PMD plug-in for RAd 7.0

Hi,
I want to install the PMD plug-in for RAD 7.0. I haven't got the installable for RAD 7.0 specifically, but downloaded the basic version "pmd-bin-4.2.3.zip".
I tried the following:
a) From RAD->Help->Software Updates->Find and install -> Search For New Features to install
1) Clicked on "New Remote Site" as per instruction
2) Gave the name as "PMD" and url as "http://pmd.sf.net/eclipse" (tried "http://pmd.sourceforge.net/eclipse" as well)
Issue: After this as per instructions I have to click on "Next" button. but this is not getting activated.
Another option:
Another option was that we can download the latest zip file and follow the above procedures except for using "New local site" and browsing to the downloaded zip file.
Issue with this Approach: It is not taking the zip file as a valid entry. It says "Selected Location doesnt contain a valid update site. Please choose a different location"
I tried to use the "New Archived Site" as well getting the same error message as above.
Has anyone installed this plug-in for RAD 7.0? If yes pls give some guidance? What is wrong with the approach I am following?

How to integrate BlazeDs in RAD 7.5.0

Hi,
I have existing application in RAD 7.5, My app is in JSF framework and backend Oracle.
Our new tech requirement is FLEX from JSF using as much as possible server side code. Currently trying to come up with some POC.
On the very begining , trying to setpup my IDE (RAD7.5.0) , so that i can run flex. On that process i like to integrate BlazeDS in RAD7.5. Can anyone pls guide me in that.

In the minimum system requirements for BlazeDS it says that you need to have JDK 1.5 or higher.

Unknown charecters for polish letters in pdf when generated through RAD.

Hi,
I have created a report in Crystal Reports which extracts data from SQL Server database.
In crystal report viewer, when i extract to pdf or any other form , i get expected result.
When I use this .rpt file in my application which is deployed in my server ( RAD7.0 ), in the browser i get expected crystal report but when I extract to pdf file, I get unknown characters instead of polish charecters.All other formats work fine excluding pdf.
Am I missing any updated plugin in RAD. or something to set up in Crystal report.

Need install instructions for Flash Builder 4 and RAD 7.5

I've reviewed another thread that said this was possible. Indeed it looked like it was. In RAD 7.5, I go to Help -> Software Updates... Click the tab for Available Software, click the button for Add Site... Click the button for Local... and go to my C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 4 Plug-in

I select all and click the Install... button.

Under the Installed Software tab, I have several Equinox items, but obviously not the correct one. So what's missing?

JSF 1.2 with RAD 6

Is this possible? How? Do I need to wait for IBM to add JSF 1.2 to the Rational App Developer 6 tool set via some update or can I force RAD to use the updated JSF stuff?

AUTHENICATE SSO RAD INFO IN LOGON TRIGGER IN 10G FORM?

I've been trying to add a LOGON Trigger to my Oracle 10g Form to check my RADs after logging into SSO.
I'm having a problem setting up multiple Config's for multiple RADs. I have about 7different applications that I would like to log into but would like to log into the SSO just once. But for some reason each application is asking for a SSO log in.

This is a webutil-restriction.
You cannot use webutil in triggers that fires before the form has complete focus.
Like pre-form, when-new-form-instance and on-logon triggers.
In a when-new-form-instance trigger create a timer, let's say 200 millisconds long.
In a when-timer-expired trigger you can call webutil.
May you put your configuration-file on the server and use d2kwut !

You Are Rad If You Know How To Do This...

Hello My Fellow Flashophiles
So, I will bow down to you if you know how to help me with
this one.
I have a MovieClip in my Flash file which emulates a
signature being drawn by animating a mask that covers over a bit
more of the underlying bitmap (of the actual, static signature)
frame by frame. I'm interested in allowing the color of the static
signature in the bitmap to be set dynamically. Here's the
pseudocode I've come up with so far:
- Access the bitmap in the MovieClip
- Replace (somehow) every black pixel in the bitmap (the
signature is black, the background white) with a pixel that is the
chosen color
- addChild the MovieClip to the main timeline
I am also considering separating the bitmap from the
MovieClip and just setting the MovieClip as its mask
dynamically....
Any ideas on any part of this? You're rad!

Oh! Cbeech is the winner once again... I'm really starting to
owe you, friend. Thanks once again for your invaluable help...
So, yes, I decided it would be best to strip the bitmap out
of the mc. Instead, I load it programmatically, apply the threshold
method (I
knew there had to be such a function! -- thanks, Beech!),
then set the animation as the mask programmatically. Note to
Cbeech: the colors for both the bground and the signature are
selected via the sampling method you helped me with before.

A lot of work for modest results, but I suppose that's the
name of the game. I'm not complaining, tho. My understanding grows
geometrically, and it's fun!
