Radeon 9550 - 9600 Pro BIOS Update

Hi,
Has anyone whom owns a Radeon 9550 tried to flash the bios to a 9600 Pro?
Thanks

You won't gain any more performance than your card can produce on it's own. The only thing you will gain is the ability to overclock your card and you can set the core and memory speeds where you want them and they will remain there. I flashed a Gigabyte R9550 with a Sapphire 9600 Pro Bios and clocked it at 400 / 290 (580DDR). I also had a Zalman ZM80C with the optional fan to keep it cool.

  • Yoga 2 Pro : BIOS Update on a clean Windows 8.1 Pro install

    Hi,
I recently bought the Yoga 2 Pro. Like everybody I have the yellow problem.
After buying it, I reinstalled my computer with a fresh Windows 8.1 pro install.
I was wondering if anybody has already tried updating the BIOS on a clean Windows 8.1 install ?
And also if there is any reported bug with the BIOS update.
I already crashed a while back one of my previous computer and I would prefer if this don't append again
    Thanks,
    Best,

Not, i'm speaking about the BIOS update. The windows 8.1 pro installation was fine.

  • X58 Pro BIOS update from 7.3 to 8.x

    Hi.
I've thought of updating my the bios of my X58 PRO but I've hesitated as I'm not sure if the new 8.x bios versions are meant for my mb. 8.e is the latest I think.
I was wondering if anyone on the forum had any experience on the subject? I saw one old thread with someone thinking the same thing but wasn't quite sure how it worked out for him.

Well atm I'm having problems with my DVD-drive giving me DMA errors whenever I'm trying to burn a DVD. I've looked into the matter and nothing seems to be helping so I thought of updating the BIOS.
Even though a BIOS update might not help with my current problem, I'm still interested to know whether it is possible to update BIOS from 7.3 to 8.e.
I read from somewhere that this was not adviced because 8.x versions are meant for X58 PRO SLI
MSI automatic updating also didn't even suggest any updates for my BIOS. I know not to flash from MSI LiveUpdate, I just ran it to check for updates.

  • Yoga2 Pro Bios Update Difference?

  • K8t800 pro bios update for Athlon X2 support

Hi everyone please help. How do I flash my bios to an updated version for X2 support? My motherboard is http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=588
    K8T Neo2-F/ FIR
    Thanks.

I tried creating a bootable cd rom, I wasted all of them. I'm using an a-data usb 4GB stick. Yes I prepared it with Hp-tool. I even tried to flash it with a floppy but I didn't know the commands for that- so that failed too lol.
I followed instructions on MSI forum usb flashing tool. When I boot with the usb nothing happens. Just a cursor on the top left side of monitor blinks.
I did manage to access the flash utility on the floppy but I didn't know how to use it.

  • T41 2373-2FG running XP Pro - BIOS update question

    Hi community,
Tried to update BIOS/Embedded Controller to versions 3.23/3.04 proposed by System Update
(TVSU 3.14.0024). History shows both installed.
However, going into the BIOS settings, I still see BIOS v. 3.04a (1RETC4WW)-2004-04-22 / Embedded Controller 3.01a.
I used to get diskette versions from IBM servers to update. Is this still the best and/or only method to update? BIOS cannot be flashed on a T41?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi woofy1,
Have you tried updating it by downloading the BIOS from download page?:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-46258#bios

  • Yoga 2 Pro Bios update now removed from v38 to v31

I updated my Y2P to 38 last week.  I went to update my son's Y2P and the update is gone.  Now showing an update of v31 instead of v38...

    @jredenbaugh
I updated mine to v38 but i don't see any difference. Since the update has been removed, I am sure they have their reasons. Is your son's Y2P having any issues?

  • 8X AGP locks up Radeon 9600 pro

I can't get my Radeon 9600 pro to run on 8x AGP.  I swapped the card for a new one with the same results.  My AGP voltage is increased to 1.7, aperture size 128, I'm running the latest drivers and updated the mobo bios to v1.8. Fast Write on/off has no effect.  On 4x AGP it runs perfectly.
The more graphic intense the programme, the sooner it seems to lock up, Max Payne 2 last 2-10s, while CC Generals can hold up to 10-20min.
I put a lot of research in before I bought the MSI board and I was convinced it's one of the best options on the market.  This issue is very disappointing, I hope I am just missing something, please help.

Well "Deon"...I'm sorry to say. ...You most definatly need a new PSU....To tell you the truth, I find it hard to believe that you can get the PC to even POST. ..You have been lucky....I sugest that you go and get a new quality PSU...I would try either a Enermax 450 or a Antec True Power 420 or 480Watt, the 480 Antec True Power unit would be the Best choice though http://www.antec.com  http://www.enermax.com   Most people do not realize that the Northwood P-4's that are faster than 2.0 GHZ can draw up to 11.0 Amps on the +12 Volt Rail under full load..And your PSU has a 12 Amp rating on the +12 V Rail ....Not to mention that you have a combined wattage max of 140 on the +3.3 V and +5.0 V rails......So I know it is hard to believe but your 300 Advertized watt PSU...Really is more like a 200 "Real" Watt Power Supply.....Now I'm not saying to compare my PSU specs. to yours, as I have a little overkill on the +5.0 Rail..........Sean REILLY875

  • 1360 X 768 Resolution with ATI Radeon 9600 Pro

Maybe this isn't the right forum, but I've been surfing for hours with no luck so please forgive me if this seems out of place.
I output a show recently to QuickTime at 720 24 fps. I'd like to watch it on my 40" Samsung 720 HD TV. I cabled up and managed to get a picture in nearly fullscreen and nearly appropriate aspect ratio, but it doesn't look all that hot. Samsung tells me I want to set my Display settings on my Mac to 1360 x768 to achieve optimum picture. I told them I don't have that option in my settings. They said I probably need to update my driver on my ATI Radeon 9600 Pro video card. I did, still no 1360x768 setting. They said I might want to install the ATI Displays utility. That doesn't seem to offer anything useful. ATI's online support says I might want to install ATI's latest ROM updater, but I can't find any such thing even though the web seems full of mentions of such a beast.
Anyone have any ideas or any suggestion as to where I should post this question?

  • Total lockup KM4M-L w/ ATI Radeon 9600 Pro

OK, its been a while since ive had any problems at all but unfortunately I am getting problems with my KM4M-L based PC completely locking up.
I am pretty sure that this is a graphics related issue since it started when I installed an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB.
I tried removing old nVidia drivers completely, have jusy formatted and re-installed Windows XP Pro with SP2, but the problem is still there.  I have tried the card on AGP 2x and 4x, with fastwrite enabled and disabled, and different memory allocations of 64MB and 128MB, but still no joy.
I have also tried the latest two sets of drivers from ATI with no joy, and the latest chipset drivers & BIOS revisions from MSi.
Does anyone know of any compatibility issues between my hardware or something I may have missed in my frustration? Thanks, Huw

OK, I have tried a number of things since posting last.
I have been running the PC without the video card, just using the onboard graphics, which didnt seem to help.
I have air dusted, and replaced the GPU heatsink and fan for a large machined one with a more appropriate size of fan but im still getting some problems:
The first is the complete lock-up, which still occurs at seemingly random intervals with no pattern at all.
The second problem is quite frequently on botting the computer, when windows has loaded, the screen display seems to breakdown into random pixels as soon as I start using anything, the effect is hard to describe but its almost as if the screen is being airbrushed, very odd
I should add that I have also removed the Maxtor HDD, since last posting, and also run a series of MemCheckx86 tests which seem to indicate that the RAM is fine.
Any ideas anyone? I am starting to suspect that there may be multiple problems contributing to this annoyance

  • ATI Radeon 9600 Pro

According to Apple Support my G4 is a Digital audio model sold to someone around March 2001. It also states that - 1, it can take the ATI 9600 Pro.- 2, It cannot take the ATI 9600 Pro. Being totally confused, I fitted it in the AGP slot to try it. this resulted in the computer failing to start, I mean nothing started.
Replacing the original card it started as normal, so now I don't know if it is the card, or the model of G4. I really would like to upgrade this Mac if possible, as being new to Macs but not to computing, I am impressed with it.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi and welcome to discussions.
Unfortunately it partly depends on which version of the Radeon 9600 you have, although there can be problems with them all. I assume it is a Mac version rather than a generic PC version which won't work at all (unless flashed, i.e. had the firmware updated with the Mac version of the ROM).
There's a combined PC and Mac version with 256MB VRAM. On release this was advertised by ATI to work in all AGP x4 G4 models, including the Digital Audio. However, shortly afterwards a number of people experienced problems using it in the Digital Audio and Quicksilver models, whereby no video would be shown. ATI then released a support note stating these particular models weren't supported, leaving just the MDD and FW800 models. In short it's pot luck whether it will work or not. I've been lucky in that I have one in my Quicksilver and it works perfectly, but others haven't been so lucky. More info can be found here:
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/9600mac_pcedition.html
There's also an AGP x8 version which was shipped with the Power Mac G5s which had 64MB VRAM (I think). These can be made to work in AGP x4 models, including the Digital Audio, but some pins have to be taped over, otherwise the computer won't boot. Some companies, OWC I think, sold this version already modified for use in the G4s. More info can be found here:
    http://themacelite.wikidot.com/pins-3-and-11
So... I guess Apple support are right, it can take the 9600 and it can't!

In 2.

  • No sleep after upgrading to a  radeon 9600 pro 256MB graphics card

I swapped my original radeon 9600 pro 64MB with a 9600 pro 256MB card and now my G5 dual 2.0 tower will not sleep. Should I download the 9600 pro drivers that are on the ATI support site, they only list these drivers for OSX 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 and since I have 10.5 I am hesitant to do so. There seems to be a definite increase in graphic speed with the 256MB card and since I will be doing a lot of iphoto and imovie on this computer the upgrade would be a big help.
    Ron

Can you find your model here? http://support.apple.com/specs/#powermac
Well, if you think you saw the PMU button near your RAM that would be it, just hold it down for a second or two.
Well, I'm not surprised that the PC is faster. You're running a very new OS on a very old machine. But Macs of any vintage are great, aren't they.
When you got your video card did you install the software from the disk that came with it?
One thing you might try if not sleeping is really bugging you would be to download and reapply the entire full 10.5.5 Combo Update. That has a way of correcting things when they've become corrupted.
It's pretty massive so if you're using a modem it would take quite awhile.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_5_ComboUpdate
Edit and PS: Do you have your data backed up on a drive you can start up from? Like firewire or another internal? Here is a great app, free for it's basic job, that makes perfect copies of your system and everything on it.
