Radeon HD 2600 issue - Satellite A210 notebook crashes ati2dvag

My pc freezes and crashes because of the ati driver i guess... it shows the screen below (link)
Anyone? Please help! :)

You can try omega drivers, they will work. But they won't fix the problem.
I have a satellite A210-16g with same graphic card and same problems, and it's starting to be frustrating. Ive searched for the solution, but it seems there isn't any, and Toshiba is keeping it quiet....lots of people have the same problem when they downgraded form vista to xp....
In my case 2 things happen:
Laptop freezes and sometimes there is BSOD (ati2dvag caused an inifitne loop problem etc.) mostly it just freezes and only thing to do is to turn off laptop, and again turn it on.
or picture goes weird like this:

http://s21.photobucket.com/albums/b294/indigo_lion/?action=view&current=21112008506.jpg
http://s21.photobucket.com/albums/b294/indigo_lion/?action=view&current=21112008507.jpg
Pictures are taken with camera because in screenshots after restart, nothing is shown...everything is normal
And this happened 1day after new install of windows xp, now week after installation laptop started to freeze, twice today...
If any1 has a solution to this problem please post it...

  • Re: Satellite A210-10A, crashes when changing boot order

    Hello,
I have a serious problem with my Toshiba laptop, Windows Vista 32bit, 1.8Ghz, 2Gb RAM, AMD Turion 64 x2
There is one hard disk partitioned as two 75Gb drives (C and E).
The problem is that, whenever I enter the Boot menu (to boot from CD), or if I change within the BIOS the boot order and then restart, the computer crashes (power cuts off suddenly).
Then the only way to recover, is to plug out the AC/DC adapter, wait 5 min, and start again. Then, either everything goes on normally, or Windows system recovery launches, after what it will reboot and work fine.
It might be important to know that I repartitioned the E drive to have 30Gb for installing Win7 later on. The annoying thing is that I never tried changing the boot order before repartitioning, so I don't know whether it has something to do with the problem or if it was there before.
Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.
    Thank you,

It looks like the Bios related issue. Have you tried to update it or reflash?

Maybe this took place before but you didn't check.

  • Satellite A210-14S graphic issue - 2 vertical and symetrical lines

    Hello,
I have bought a Satellite A210-14S ATI HD2600 1 week ago, which from performance point of view really convinces me.
Unfortunately, during this time, it happened twice, that *suddenly* colors got grainy and with increased contrast, including 2 symetrical and vertical lines of same width (about 3cm).
Those lines also showed the background, but with a different color.
Besides, on horizontal view, some spots started to blink.
The 2 times this happened, the error seemed to have same characteristics.
In both cases, after a reboot, this symptoms dissapeared.
    Enclosed some screenshots
    [http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/3609/bild054oj5.jpg|http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/3609/bild054oj5.jpg]

Now the important question: is it a hardware fault (GPU, RAM or even TFT) or might it be a driver issue? (I use the dedicated Toshiba Ati driver)
Would be important to know in a timely period, due to the option of money back I have in Germany (14 days)
Thanks in advance for your all help.

    HI,
first of all, thanks for replying, appreciated.
I also had/have the fear of a defective G-card, but also supected or hoped it might be a overheating of the system or similar, though i haven't seen any similar cases with those symptoms after a google research . Now I have this notebook for 3 weeks and it only remained these 2 cases where it appeared.
I will try to connect the PC to my external tft when it happens again, I had heard of this procedure, though it will only show me if the internal TFT is kind of damaged.
I think I have to contact the Toshiba service point if G-card is faulty.
    Thanks for all replies again

  • Replacement Program - ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT video issue

    Mac Pro (Early 2008):
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT video card with distorted video or no video
    Last Modified: March 15, 2011
    Article: TS3630
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3630
    Symptoms
Apple has determined that certain ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT cards sold for use in Mac Pro computers between approximately January 2008 and May 2010 may experience distorted video or no video.
    Products Affected
    Mac Pro (Early 2008)
    Resolution
If your Mac Pro experiences distorted video or no video issues and has an ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT card in it, you will need to bring your computer's serial number and the graphics card into an Apple Authorized Service Provider or an Apple Retail Store location for verification and to exchange the affected graphics card for a replacement.

The replacement process as stated here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3630
    is not correct.
Here is my first hand experience:
Have had the intermittent problems as described almost since the computer was new. After many calls to applecare and ROM upgrades, software upgrades and reinstalls, new boot drive - problem persisted until last week -now monitor stays on black screen on startup.
Called local Apple store as described in support page - they know nothing about it and you cannot talk to a tech on the phone - have to make appt. Asked the receptionist to please describe problem to tech and see if they might be able to help before I take the time to make appt. I was told that they don't handle that here - go to an outside service center. Of course its Friday and the outside service is closed until Monday. Call another apple store and make an appointment - they seam more willing to help.
Follow the instructions and remove board and take it with Mac serial number to store.
I am told that they will not release the replacement board unless they install it themselves in my computer. I politely point out that the service doc states otherwise - no dice. Tech orders the board - won't know until Monday what delivery schedule is - he guesses 2-3 days and they can install when it comes in.
    Lesson learned.
You can't trust what apple says in a tech document - maybe you can't believe anything they say. Frustrating part is that you can't talk to anyone to get a straight answer until you nail someone down in person - and how do I know that the tech told me the right thing. After all, doesn't corporate dictate policy? I got the policy from the corp site. So which is right?
Do you think they would reimburse me if I went out and purchased a new board and did the replacement myself?
"If you believe you have paid for repair or replacement because of this issue, contact Apple regarding a refund."
I highly doubt it based on what the tech said - but who should I believe?

  • Satellite A210 PSAFGC - Bios update to get rid of blank screen issue

I also have the blank screen problem and I would like to update my bios from the 1.30 version it came with.
The problem I have is that I have a model A210 part number PSAFGC.
The support bulletin 98082422 for the Bios update doesn't mention my part number exactly and I can't find anything for my model.
The 2 updates are to 1.70 and 1.90. I have read the text from both of these and they seem quite different.
Not sure what to do. Here is the bulletin info.
    Resolution:
Update the computer's BIOS to fix this problem, by clicking the appropriate link for your computer model from the following list.
    - Satellite A210 / A215, Part No. PSAFGU: BIOS version 1.70
    - Satellite A210 / A215, Part No. PSAEGU and PSAELU: BIOS version 1.90
    - Satellite Pro A210 / A215, Part No. PSAFHU: BIOS version 1.70
    - Satellite P200D / P205D, Part No. PSPBLU and PSPBQU: BIOS version 1.40
he computer's Part No. is printed on a label on the underside of the case.
    Any help??

    Hi
The Satellite *A210 PSAFGC* series seems to be a Toshiba *Canadian* series and I would recommend checking the Toshiba Canadian driver page if you want download the compatible BIOS for your notebook.

  • Satellite A210 - Keyboard, touchpad, battery, start up issues

    Hi
Satellite A210 less than 12 months old.
    1. Speakers had problem - ASP replaced the motherboard, but now the volume is always very low, even when at 100%. All settings checked and seem to be okay. How to fix??
    2. Does not always boot from battery as it is continually flat. Laptop went to ASP who replaced motherboard (again) and put new battery. Now it is always best to run the laptop from the power adaptor as the battery is still losing charge. If unplugged from mains supply battery goes flat over night????
    3. Refused to boot up with the power button, talked to ASP who advised to reformat PC - did that but problem still remained
    4. Reformatted lots more times and in end sent back to ASP as now the keyboard did not always work either. ASP replaced the motherboard (that is now the third one) but hasn't resolved the problem, and the keyboard. Battery still not holding charge
    5. On day that I got A210 back, touchpad didn't work. Talked to ASP who gave me lots of options to try, including turning it off and waiting for 30 minutes, which did nothing. Sent it back to ASP who says there is nothing wrong with it?????
How can I resolve the power on and touchpad issue?
Have given up on the battery and the speakers
Maybe someone other than the ASP can give me an answer please. All I want is to be able to use my laptop and have it do all the usual things that a PC does, sound, keyboard, battery operation and not always have to put in a USB mouse.
    Help appreciated

    Thanks for answering -
I have tried the volume button on front of laptop and it doesn't make the speakers any louder
I would not know how to go into the BIOS to change those things.
Do I need to get a person who has done a PC course to change it?
It isnt just some of the keys on the keyboard that don't work, its the whole keyboard, (yes I made sure that the Fn key hadn't been enabled to make the letters into a numeric keyboard),
I had done a Fn+9 and it showed the touchpad was enabled, but still it doesn't work.
It always used to work even if I had a USB mouse plugged in.
    Where to now??????

  • Radeon HD 2600 - Lane Width issue

    Hello,
I recently got a Radeon HD 2600 card for my Mac Pro (1,1) it originally came with the Geforce 7300 which i have left in slot 1. and put the 2600 in slot 2.
I run a number of monitors and wanted to keep using the 7300 as well but the performance on the HD 2600 is dissapointing.
All the reviews say that it is a big improvement on the base 7300 card but not in my case.
One thing I'm noticing is that the system profiler says the lane width on the 2600 is 1x (the 7300 is 16x) and all the posts where people talk about their 2600 card and post specs show their card as 16x.
Do I need to put the 2600 in slot 1 to get the full 16X lane width?

You should get best results if you put the 2600 in slot 1 and the 7300 in slot 4 and use the Configuration Expansion Slot Utility (/System/Library/CoreServices/) to set the PCI-e bus to:
    x16 x1 x1 x8
    <http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/Conceptual/HWtechPCI/Articles/pciimplementation.html>
That will give the fastest card (the 2600) the x16 slot. The 7300 can't use much over x8 anyway.
There are reports that the Configuration Expansion Slot Utility may not display the configuration correctly with Leopard, but that it does set the bus correctly. System Profiler should show the lane widths.

  • Re: Satellite A210-16F: Where to get newer driver for graphic card??

    Hi!
I have a Satellite A210-16F laptop with a Ati Mobility Radeon HD 2600 graphic card...
After checking my device manager i found out that my graphic drivers are from 2007 which can't be good :S but for the life of me i can't find the right drivers anywhere... if you check out the screenshot, you will see that the drivers are from 2007 and after i click on "update driver" and then "search automatically for updated driver software" it never finds anything and tells me that my drivers are up-to-date :SS Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Oh, also, my OS is Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
    Thank you!
    http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/3407/61265269.jpg

One solution for your problem is, that if you upgraded your OS to Windows 7, there's a new driver for Mobility Radeon 2000 Series (Catalyst 9.6) on the ATI/AMD driver page(that one with the OS selector etc..). It's states however, that these drivers are for 7's beta releases only, but if you install them even on regular Win7 system, they're working fine and after a while an update for them appears in Windows update(It should update to Catalyst 9.7). I run them almost a week without a problem and it even resolved my Mass Effect 2 crashing issue.
One problem remains though that the driver is only for Win7(when you select Vista, it's really annoying: "Please contact your device driver manufacturer..." for you.).
It's truly more annoying than sad, that Toshiba, although in the Win7 supported laptop models list states that P200/A200 series are supported, the only thing supported after all seems to be a bluetooth module(since only that one got a new driver). So far there was no problem with an old display driver for 2600, but recently the new Mass Effect 2 crashes almost randomly during loading stages(with error log in computer management stating that the faulting module is ATI(anything here), and I only expect more such errors/problems with new games to come, because almost 2 years old drivers! So I think guys in Toshiba software engineering should really wake up.

  • Xorg 1.8.1.902 & Catalyst 10.6-5 & Mobility Radeon HD 2600

    Hello all,
I'm reporting in with an error that I can't seem to shake since the Xorg 1.8 and Catalyst 10.6 release. I have been unable to get the two to place nice with the Mobility Radeon HD 2600 in my HP Compaq 8510p notebook. I've followed the instructions on the Arch ATI Catalyst wiki using the repository approach. Everything installs correctly and I've configured the xorg.conf as instructed in the wiki. I actually just delete the existing xorg.conf and run aticonfig --initial, but still no dice. I've made sure that I have the fglrx module loaded in my rc.conf.
When GDM tries to start, it freaks out with the screen flashing a few times and then crashes saying too many attempts to start X. I login and try to start X manually and it produces the following log file:
    [ 24.874]

    Oops, my bad.
As for my issue(s), I'm not going to bother with the proprietary driver until AMD gets their act together.

  • ATI Radeon HD 6520G / 7600M troubles. Glitches, crashing and such.

I've been am having issues with getting my graphics card to work properly.
EDIT: tl;dr Running cinnamon with xf86-video-ati is no bueno https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7122698/bbs_ar … adface.png (other stuff happen as well, but this is the most annoying)
I was using catalyst until recently. When I deemed the glitches and the occasional crashing (which I assumed were caused by the driver) to be too much,
I decided to switch over to xf86-video-ati.
While the open source drivers seem to work, they manage to somehow corrupt pixmaps/textures and they manage to hang my computer even more often than the catalyst did.
    I'm running aur/linux-lqx 3.6.4-1-lqx (as well as core/linux 3.6.5-1), extra/xf86-video-ati 1:6.14.6-2, extra/xorg-server 1.13.0-3, extra/gdm 3.6.1-2 and aur/cinnamon 1.6.4-4 . I've
also moved the damn thing to core/systemd 195-2 with sysvcompat.
I doubt that the problems are caused by gnome 3.6 having troubles with systemd or ati drivers, as I'm also having texture corruptions in opengl applications (using SDL for init stuff.)
I'm sure that there is nothing wrong with my cards, as they work fine under windows.
Right now I'm running using late kms start.
/etc/X11/ contains configs for twm, xinit and input drivers (all installed by their respective pkgs), as well as the config that I'm using right now:
    /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-radeon.conf
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "UghImSoAngryNow"
    Driver "radeon"
    Option "NoAccel" "on"
    EndSection
This is, of course, not preferable. However, it fixes nearly all the pixmap corruption problems and I haven't gotten it to die on me yet. Occasionally, my desktop background becomes
black with lines of varying (read: 50) shades of grey (aka. white noise), before it reloads itself, but haven't crashed yet.
The wiki page on ATI tells me to try and disable KMS by booting with radeon.modeset=0 or nomodeset. However, this causes Xorg to fall back to xf86-video-vesa, which
is itself quite glitchy (cursor flickers, all ttys are corrupted (unusable) except for the one I'm on, etc.)
Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.
(I'll see if I can post screens with the artifacts.)

Nope. Minecraft seems to run fine, albeit quite slowly:

The rendering errors at the bottom border of the "Cinnamon Settings" window and the white boxes between the chromium tabs. These are more or less permanent, they stay there until the window is destroyed, and reappear quickly after the window is first rendered. The white noise looking things on the chromium window stay there until the window repaints itself. Moving the chromium window causes the white noise to start flickering.
The screen froze when I opened a nautilus window and tried to resize it. Xorg.0.log doesn't mention any errors.
This doesn't happen in Cinnamon 2D, so I assume it has something to do with the OpenGL implementation.
    Forcing 7600M by adding
    BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
    to
    /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-radeon.cfg
causes Xorg to not even start.
I'm thinking that I've managed to improperly configure the drivers, although I don't see how.

The .wad (data file containing all the game's assets) isn't corrupted. The engine itself might be, as the sprites are always corrupted in the same way. Note the barrel on the right side that has parts of a lower resolution version of itself (mipmapping) and blue armour, the light thingy in the middle that contains a lower resolution of itself and a shotgun ammo, and the pillar in the other room that is just not nice to look at. Moving away or towards the sprite (which effectively changes the mipmap level rendered) might make the sprite look as it is supposed to be.

Where can I get some old drivers for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600, which I can install without starting windows?

    > Where can I get some old drivers for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600, which I can install without starting windows?
Please dont understand me wrong but I think you are on the wrong way.
Device drivers (graphic card, LAN, etc.) have to be installed within running system (i.e: Windows OS, etc)
Im sure; driver isnt the problem if nothing is visible on the screen.
First of all I would recommend you to connect the notebook to an external screen/monitor just to check if something would be visible on the 2nd display.
But just one question: did you try to boot the notebook using a bootable disk (windows installation disk, Toshiba recovery disk or similar???).
Maybe the Windows system is muddled up and therefore you are not able to boot up the system? In my opinion you should test this option.

Machine is year and a half old runs windows vista basic that comes with it.
I have reinstalled the display adapter drivers also the problem remains same

    Hello
Have you tested an external monitor on the notebook?
If the external monitor works fine it seems to be an internal display issue and must be replaced.
Are you running the factory settings on your notebook or have you installed your own Windows version? Before you go to an authorized service provider you should restore the factory settings to determine if its a hardware or software problem. With the factory settings all should work properly and if not in my opinion its a hardware problem.

  • Satellite M30 Display crash

Today, after almost two years of usage with no problems, the diplay on my Satellite M30-901 crashed. Starting to normally use the notebook, the display became "unstable", tremoring, vertical lines appeared, the background brightness changed successively on green, violet, blue then normal white, it was like watching through smog. Then it got frozen. I rebooted the notebook, worked a little bit and crashed the same way. After third normal reboot the problem appeared from the first image, when booting. I tried to use an external monitor but it does not work. Any ideas? Could it be the motherboard or the display itself. I treated my laptop with very much care, did not hit or drop it. Anyy suggestions, or simmilar behavior? Could it be a faulty display card? Thank you ver much!

    Hello
I think that you are right about that. Like you said, usually it is not necessary to hold the main body of the when opening the display.
I can really not give you any advice about your problem. There can be two reasons for the display issue: software or hardware malfunction. You can reinstall the unit with recovery CD and check this. If the problem persists it is probably caused by hardware. In this case the only solution is service department.
    Good luck!

    > At all: I won't by me another Toshiba again. A company who is using these bad/cheap optical drives? No way. To use these poor/cheap stuff and act like: no firmware/support, ask the manufacturer and the manufacturer say, of course, ask Toshiba... is this a way to threat customers?!?
That's your personal opinion but I don't agree with you... I've got my second Toshiba notebook and never had any problems...
But try other notebooks from different manufacturers and you will see that you will not be free of any hardware problems...
I know what I'm talking about... I used and tested notebooks from different manufacturers and had to fight always with some issues...

Finally some words regarding your issue:
Should clean the ventilators using an compressed air spray and should remove some dust and debris usually this helps to decreases the internal temperature.
Furthermore you should ensure that the ventilators are free!
