  • FM Radio Application for Windows 8

I am trying to develop a simple FM Radio Application for Windows 8 phones. I found one class but it says it will not work for devices targeting windows 8. Can some one please help.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/microsoft.devices.radio.fmradio(v=vs.105).aspx

It's been a long time since I last answered an FM radio question so I might be forgetting some details but basically...
In Windows Phone 7 timeframe the FM radio hardware was part of the requirements but for Windows Phone 8 FM radio hardware was optional and, in fact, the FM Radio drivers were not available until build 8.0.10322.
I cannot recall if the restriction regarding FMRadio API for Windows Phone 8 targeted applications mentioned in the MSDN documentation, is enforced during submission to the store but I know it is possible to use the APIs in a Windows Phone 8 targeted project
during development (...requires: ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_AUDIO I believe.)

  • N8 Dab Radio Application

I have just got the Nokia DAB radio, and downloaded the DAB radio app from the Ovi Store.  Everything works fine, apart from Nokia using about 75% of the screen for the word DAB and still using the menu structure to control functionality rather than populating the screen real estate with useful buttons to allow things to happen with one click rather than having to go through the normal multiple-press menu functions.
As this app is ONLY available for compatible phones - touch-screen devices - why, oh why did they not, for instance put a pile of buttons on the screen instead of having 75% of the space wasted - say 4 buttons to switch between your 4 most used radio stations (which could even optionally be populated over time like Bots does with Contacts, by learning which stations you play most often) - another button to bring up the full channel list, another button to pull up you favourites list, etc. etc.
In addition there is no 'sleep' function, a major omission for any radio application these days.
Does anyone know of an application that is compatible with the N8 that is capable of closing a named application after a set period of time.  If I could close the DAB app after say an hour, automatically, then that would function as a sleep timer.
Apart from these gripes, I have to say that the kit works fine and reception is great - excellently engineered bit of kit, as always from Nokia - just a shame the associated software is badly designed, a pain to use, and lacking essential functionality if they had reallt thought about it.  It is the sort of app I would have expected to be suitable for my N95 but falls way short of what should be coming out for the newer Symbian^3 devices.  This is now a HIGHLY competitive marketplace and the quality of Nokia's own applications leaves a lot to be desired - even for a lifetime Nokia fan like me - it is now 2011 Nokia - get serious and develop an attitude of excellence with the software/apps - not one of stunning mediocrity - or fall by the wayside!

I really feel that I shouldn't HAVE to be teaching Nokia software developers to think - but, here we go ....
To add a radio station to the favourite station list you have to tap the station from the list which then highlights it, and then tap a button at the bottom to either Add or Remove it from your favourites list. (this single button conveniently changes - if the station is already a favourite you can, of course, only remove it, so it says Remove - and if it isn't a favourite then this button says, of course, Add).  Now that is 2 taps.  What is wrong with each tap on a station on the list changing the choice for that station - if it already is a favourite, then it is Removed, if it is not a favourite then it is Added.  One tap.  This is a touch screen - if I tap something then presumably I wanted to do something with it - as it is already a favourite, goodness gracious, I probably want to remove it - WHY MAKE ME  PRESS A BUTTON SAYING REMOVE?  Even if I make a mistake, and accidentally tap the wrong one, another tap and it is reversed.
It seems that in every application the philosophy of Nokia developers is "why use one tap where two, three or even more can be designed in" - have they never heard of KISS - keep it simple, stupid!  No wonder Nokia UI and software is getting pilloried by the media generally - even new applications cannot be written intelligently.

  • Asha 311 radio application does not close.

The radio application in my asha 311 does not close. I tried using the back button first, but when I swiped the screen the radio showed up so I used the end call button and then it showed "Radio Off". But then again when I swiped to check whether the radio has closed, the radio came up once again. I tried switching off the mobile and turning it on. That didn't help either. Tried connecting, disconnecting the headsets and i still have the radio open. I am unable to close it. Any suggestions?
Its only a week since I bought the Nokia Asha 311 and this is the first ever problem that I am facing.
    Solved!

Hey, its nothing wrong. You've added shortcut to radio on the swipe screen. That's why it shows you the radio screen
change the shortcut to something else (dialler) and that's it

  • Iheart Radio Application on PC

I have installed the Iheart Radio Application on my Ipod Touch. I then sync'ed it to my PC (running windows xp). How do I play the Iheart radio through the Itunes software on my pc? Everytime I start the application on my Ipod, it only plays through the Ipod but not through the PC speakers and I don't see where I can play the Iheart application within the Itunes software on my pc.

You can't through the USB interface. Does iHeartRadio not provide a web interface to play their stations on your computer?

    Hello guys,
i have a blackberry curve 9380 running OS 7.1, but i didn't find the radio Fm and the mobile hotspot  application installed on it. Can you tell me how i can install this applications?
                         Thanks.
    Hello bropamda304
    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
FM Radios are available on a limited Curve model even Bold and Toruch Models don't have that ,   I believe 9380 don't have any FM Radios as per this official page  http://worldwide.blackberry.com/blackberrycurve/9380/curve_specifications.jsp  and  this website  http://www.gsmarena.com/blackberry_curve_9380-4331.php  .
Again , regarding Mobile Hotspot feature , This feasture depends on your Carrier and the service plan you have . If your Carrier supports Mobile Hotspot and you have the required plan then you'll see the same under Manage Connection . If you're not getting this feature then it is not something which you can Install from app world But you should call your Carrier Digicel to know further . You can also refer to this below KB Article :
KB31857  : How to setup and manage a Mobile Hotspot Connection
    Good luck.

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescirbed for most gltiches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
    Now, try the application again.

  • How to get FM Radio Application

Hello...my Blackberry Curve dont have radio fm application, how can i get this application...thanks....

    Hello,
Please refer to this helpful "Inside BB" Blog post:
    http://blogs.blackberry.com/2012/01/blackberry-7-1-update/
As you can see, the FM radio capability is limited to specific model BBs that are running the proper OS level...your model, according to your profile, is not eligible for the true FM radio app, as your model does not have, physically inside of it, the proper FM radio receiver...no amount of firmware, OS, or software can overcome a physical limitation.
    Good luck!

  • Desktop Radio Application Isn't Completely Remembering "Thumbs Ups/Liked".

New to Spotify and I've been auditioning the desktop application (v0.9.8.296) to see if I liked it.  I've installed it on an XPsp3 box (Dell Optiplex GX620), 4GB memory and 250GB HDD.  More than enough firepower for my daily usage including "remote desktoping".
I've created just (1) artist radio station so far and what I've noticed over a months time is when I choose the "thumbs up" icon, the application will go thru the "improving radio station" bit and the "thumbs down" icon becomes greyed-out.  But over time I'll hear the same album/same song and both thumbs are there as if it didn't remember I'd given that song a "thumbs up".  This is verified by also looking in the "Liked From Radio" menu choice and multiple songs have multiple listings because I've been consistently "thumbs-up'd" them repeatedly.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  As it sits now Spotify won't go much further for me if it's not performing basic functionality.
    Many thanks,
(Mod edit - removed email address)

  • 5530's Radio & applications

It's just a small question, but, is it normal that the letters (moving over the screen when the radio is on) suddenly stop in the middle of the screen or start "shaking"? The radio player also seems to be running really really slow since I've did a hard reset 3 weeks ago.
Also, some applications under the "Application-menu" suddenly change into a piece of a puzzle with a small red square in the right under corner + I can't use them anymore.
    Nokia 5530 XpressMusic Black-Red

Hi, the green arrow which you swipe to the right is supposed to answer the call to save having to use the lock slider, the other 'Unlock' arrow swipe to the left gives the option to take other actions, if you inadvertantly selected reject call , as you swiped this may have caused the problem, it works quite well when you get used to it.

  • N97 FM Radio Application - Lost

I had to reinstall the firmware of my Nokia N97 and restore the factory settings of the phone. After reinstalling the firmware ( note this is not the newest firmware because it is not yet available in the Philippines ) and restoring the factory settings ( I can't remember which came first ) ... I lost some apps.  One of the apps that I lost is the FM Radio App.
Question?  How can I reinstall the FM Radio App?  I searched the nokia site and didn't find one.  They have the internet radio app - which I don't need.  I also searvhed Ovi Store and didn't find one.  I also searched for it in the internet and could not find one.
I am tempted to reinstall the firmware and to restore the factory settings ... but I'm afraid of what other supposedly - out of the box app that came with the phone will get lost.  By the way --- I submitted this question to the support site and this is what I was told:
    - I lost it because I restored the Factory settings.   I was confused with this answer because I thought part of the features being marketed for N97 is it's capability to play FM radio.  So if it's not part of the factory settings --- why market it?
    - Nokia does not have a copy of the app - and I have to search the internet for a copy of the app.   Again ... this is a confusing answer ... it came with the phone when I bought it ... so a copy of the app must be found somewhere.   So why can't they post it in Ovi store?  Or why can't they e-mail the app to me?
I hope an expert Nokia user out there can help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    thanks you.
i was really upset why this phone does not have a radio.
i really needed it for special purposes.
now the only problem i have is my phone freezes alot (when there is an incoming call i cant answer it and the phone freezes untill the caller hangs up and it turns to a MISS CALL)
and its a bit low speed too.
other things are great. ilove it

  • Iphone billing for extended use of XM radio application

When listening to Sirius XM radio over my iphone, outside of wifi zone (on 3G network).
Is iphone listening time billed as telephone time or internet time?
In other words, will I be billed for a telephone call or is it included in my internet time?

Anything internet related uses data. The only thing that uses phone minutes is actual phone calls.

  • Sirius radio application for 8330 curve

anyone tried to download the app for their 8330 curve and it did not work.  Has any found out how to get the app to work.

So what happens when you click on that icon?
Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
