Radio interface

I am trying to get a DD-WRT router to function as a client bridge on a wireless network off of a 871 router. When the DD-WRT device is configured, you can ping the device from ANY other device on the network except for the 871 and the devices behind the 871 have no internet access. I was thinking that the bridge-group 1 block-unknown-source command on the radio interface might be the problem but it cannot be removed and is an automatic command.
Does anyone know of a way to either remove this command or to have the bridged device MAC be 'learned'?

What's a DD-WRT router? It looks like you're using an 871 with a wireless module. Are you trying to bridge something non-Cisco off of the 871? If not, what exactly are you doing, and what are you using each device for? Is the 871 a remote router that has clients hanging off of it that need to pass over a WAN link of some kind to get to the Internet?
Try applying your command to a subinterface if you have multiple VLANs. Otherwise, if you'd like to post some more information, I'd be glad to help if I can.

  • Cisco Wireless AP radio interface shutdown/Operation Status Down

    Hi,
I am trying to troubleshoot the cause of the wireless AP 1142 radio shutdown; I was wondering where may be a good place to start on it/possibility of the radio shutting down. Once the radio is shown as down; I would just need to re-enable (disable/enable) it and the status changes to up status. I have attached a screen catpure of the radio interface showning down.
The AP radios shutting down is intermittent; some APs has their "A/N" radio interface shutdown while others has their "G/N" radio interface shutdown. Not too sure what may most likely be causing it to shutdown?
    Any input is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Do you have controller ?? if yes then posts out put of sh sysinfo commad.
Paste the output of sh version command from AP.
    Also check:
    1. Choose Wireless > 802.11a/n or 802.11b/g/n > Network
Select the 802.11a (or 802.11b/g) Network Status check box to enable the 802.11a or 802.11b/g band.
    2. Wireless > Access Points > All APs then click on specific AP and make sure admin status is enable.

  • Radio interface need to be disabled when antenna is not present?

I have been informed within a training class that the radio interface of an access point should be disabled when an antenna is not present. The reason given was that it would protect the radio from being adversely affected (potetnial for irreparable conditions). Question: 1) Is this true? 2) If so, where can I find supporting documentation on CCO? (I have not been able to find corroboratory information.)

    Hi Vincent,
Here is a doc that speaks to this issue ( I don't see this causing irreparable damage but, better safe than sorry :)
    Q. If you operate the radio but do not attach the antenna, can you damage the radio?
    A. Some radio equipment manufacturers specifically warn against the operation of radios without the attachment of the antenna. Operation without the antenna can damage the transmitter. Most pieces of amateur or commercial radio equipment carry this warning because the equipment operates at a much higher transmitter power. A failure to use a proper antenna or load causes a reflected wave standing wave ratio (SWR) that can damage the final amplifier stage. This final amplifier stage is the power amplifier (PA).
For Cisco Aironet equipment, the transmitter power output is 100 milliwatts (mW) for the 350 Series and 30 mW for the 340 Series. Damage is unlikely, but possible. If you need to run the devices without antennae, turn the transmitter power down to 1.5 mW. Also, you can use a 50/52 ohm dummy load (attenuator) to be safe.
    From this good Q & A doc;

  • Cisco 1142AP Autonomous - Radio interface constantly reset and provides crash file

    Hello All,
We have 10 Cisco 1142 Access Points currently configured as Autonomous and I'm experiecing very unusual behavior with the 2.4GHz radio interfaces on each of them. The IOS firmware is 15.2.2JB and they're connected to Cisco 2960 PoE switches. I'm not sure what could be causing this problem however it is service impacting and looks bad on me since I don't have a solution for it. One potential fix could be to upgrade the firmware to 15.2.4 but I'm sure if it is a firmware problem. Any advice would help. Here's an excerpt from the AP log:

  • AP show in WLC but no radio interfaces

I am have a problem with couple of our APs the model is AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9 and we have a Cisco 4404 WLC. 2 of them show up on the controller but have no radio interfaces. I have a I have restarted the AP, reset to factory config all to no avail. When I restart or reset it does communicate with the controller, but still no a/b/g/n radios.
Anyone have any ideas? Here is a snippet from the log when I restart the AP.

    Hi Rob,
The WLC version is 4.1.171.0. I have been browsing the conversations here and there seems to a few that are having similar issues. I can't find anything related to this except this:
CSCsl90841-After you upgrade a controller to software release 4.2.61.0, any access point that does not have region coding (such as the Airespace 1250 access point) is unable to join the controller. An "Invalid country code" message with a country code of 0xFFFF appears in the output of the debug lwapp events enable command.
Workaround: Downgrade the controller to software release 4.1.
And I am already on that version. This is rather bizarre. I am working from home for the next few day so I can't physically go pull the AP to look at the codes.
It does associate with the controller but it just doesn't show any radio interfaces ie, a/b/g/n.
When I go in and look at that AP on the controller it show everything including the country fine except for the radios. Very confusing.

  • Spotify Now Playing out of sync with Radio Interface / Unable to Thumbs Up-Down current song

So this is probably happened 10 or more times and I finally got annoyed enough to record my screen to show it happening. What happens is I will be listening to a song on a spotify radio station (I pay for premium) and decide I don't like it and open up the Spotify UI to thumbs it down. However when I click on the "Radio" sidebar option it won't show the song that is playing even though I KNOW it's playing from the radio. Even worse if I try to advance the track the track it says it's playing in the Radio interface DOES NOT match "Now Playing" in the bottom corner of the UI OR the OS X Notifications. This video only shows the notifications because I didn't want to have to expose more friends names or more private playlists (and radio station) names but the Now Playing matches the OS X Notification. VIDEO  PS: Clicking "New Message" while logged out gives you some crypitc message about not having your email verified? WTF? VIDEO PPS: The "Autosaved at XX:XX XX" message above this text box I'm typing in that pops in and out very often is VERY **bleep**ING ANNOYING. Do it below, off to the side, or silently.. good god... VIDEO  PPPS: Ok, **bleep** you spotify https://s.joshstrange.com/DoId.png I'll post dropbox links... Way to wait until after uploading them to do any checking...

This is a deeper issue than just that. Queueing songs remotely doesn't work right, just try itRunning radio remotely doesn't allow you to thumbs up tracks because it always displays an off-by-one track (I have to VNC to my mac, where the actual playback is happening)Different parts of the interface (when connected remotely) sometimes display the right information, but none of it is actionable (for example, I'd like to thumbs-up tracks, and thumbs-down tracks from my phone or spotify client on my laptop). This kind of makes creating a good radio station using connect impossible.Connect isn't ready for prime time. It's nice to have, but if I have to connect to the screen of the actual player, it defeats the entire purpose. I don't want a VNC connection open all the time.

  • Aironet C1140 - Radio Interface Keeps in Reset State

    Hello,
Recently we noticed that one of our C1142 access points has a radio interface (actually is only happening with the one working in BG, so its dot11radio 0) which is entering in reset state and doesn't leave that state. I've seen an older thread about similar (or equal?) issue but was on a different AP model (C1240 if I remember correctly).
The radio interface controller information displays in the end a reset code:
    Last radio reset code: 06
    Radio resets - total:1 retries:0 failed:0
       Code/Count: 06/00001
Although I was not able to find any information about this reset code in Cisco documents (maybe someone knows where I find it?).
If I try to restart the interface via "shutdown" configuration command it doesn't fix the problem, the workaround that I know of is only by "reload"ing the whole accesspoint.
Of course while in reset state no client can associate to this interface....
Did anyone had similar problem? is there any documented BUG related to this?
    Thanks for your time,
    Jean-François Mousinho

  • Intermittant radio interface down on 1130 APs

I am having unified wireless installation, with WiSM on 6500 at central site and around 90 nos of 1130 APs located at remote locations ( over WAN) as well as some APs locate in the same location.
The APs are configured in WCS, using default AP template.
Alsomot all APs are showing minor alarms saying " radio interface threshold violated".
In addition, a major alarm posted frequently on WCS saying "radion interface down".
Cleints are complaining that they are loosing connectkion momentarily but connected again automatically wo WLAN. But they will have to log in to application programs in such cases.
a.Does anybody have similar experience, and
    b. What are the best settings for 1130 APs trhat we have to do explicitly in setting up the WCS template ?
    Thanks ,

Might be due to interference and the fact that RRM is enalbled and the ap's are changing channels causing the radios to shut down temporarily. Either set the channel or try to change the threshold.

  • Cisco 1142N Radio interface gone

    Hi All,
I have around 20 1142Ns registered to 4402 WLC. WLC was saying:
         802.11a/n Radios     20
         802.11b/g/n Radios     19
So I compared and found the AP which had only 802.11a/n Radio. SSH-d to the AP and sh ver:
    1 Gigabit Ethernet interface
    1 802.11 Radio(s)
and if I try to configure the radio interface:
    apname(config)#interface dot11Radio ?
      <0-1>  Dot11Radio interface number
    apname(config)#interface dot11Radio 0?
    .  :  <0-1>
    apname(config)#interface dot11Radio 0 ?
    % Unrecognized command
    apnameconfig)#interface dot11Radio 1 ?
      <cr>
So as you can see dot11Radio 0 is gone. I've tried rebooting the AP with no success. I'm thinking there is a hardware failure with the radio antenna.
Has anyone experienced this kind of problem? What could be the cause?
    Thanks,

  • Radio Interface Locks Up, Jams Up Clients

Hi there, got a problem with the radio interface on AP350s and 1200s (11b & g, running IOS), occasionally (and not on the same units) the RF interface will lock up and any clients associated to it will not be pingable and lose network connectivity. Doing a shut/no shut (and usually a reload) bumps the clients off to other APs where they're pingable once more. This happens to Cisco and non-Cisco radioed devices, the APs aren't running anything fancy like WDS, just default config. and WEP. The 350s never had this problem running VxWorks but started this behavior when upgraded to IOS. I'm real disappinted the 1200s are doing the same thing. When the lock ups happen it causes major problems at our locations and I need to find a cure...now! Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

    Scott,
The 350s use the IOS upgrade image, the 1200s use the latest IOS version. The only rogue APs I have problems with are the Ciscos running IOS! Symbol and first generation 802.11b Aironet (pre-Cisco) APs aren't afflicted with this problem even in a mixed AP environment. In locations that are all Cisco APs and devices we still get this problem. The APs are in locations countrywide and away from Joe Public, and no other WLANs nearby. I think, I HOPE it's just a config. problem but all the APs have (more or less) the same standard config. and the issue strikes APs randomly. As advised, as soon as you do a shut/no shut everything's OK...the devices that got bumped off by the s/ns usually 'roam' back to the AP that had the issue within a few seconds or minutes and are pingable once more from the AP's radio interface. I was paged while typing my question last evening and when I went to check, guess what, another 350 with 6 clients (all Cisco devices) all jammed up on it. Shut/No Shut and carry on like nothing happened. If you've got any suggestions I'll take them, I've not had much luck on the Cisco web site, I'll probably have to put in a TAC case at some point soon as I've got better things to do than go around resetting APs. I was even thinking about rebooting our Cisco AP complement once a week in case it was some sort of caching/ARP problem.
Thanks in advance for any pearls of wisdom!

  • AIR-SAP1602I After convert to LAP, No radio interface

    Hello,
Our AIR-SAP1602I is running ap1g2-k9w7-tar.152-4.JB6.tar and working normally.
Now, we covert AIR-SAP1602I from autonomous to lightweight which is running ap1g2-rcvk9w8-tar.152-4.JB6.tar to join C3850. (It will be joined then not-joined repeatedly)
After converting, we compare AIR-SAP1602I to another AIR-CAP1602I (It's working perfect with C3850 at this present) and find something strange via "show version" and "show capwap client rcb"
Can someone tell us how to solve this problems, thanks !!!

Can you test this with using full lightweight image (ap1g2-k9w8-tar.152-4.JB6.tar)  or different recovery image (ap1g2-rcvk9w8-tar.152-4.JB5.tar). to see the problem is persistent.
