  • After update an internet radio station no longer works.

After iTunes 12.1 update an internet radio station no longer works. Prior iTune internet radio station works fine.

I now believe the problem with IE9 was not related to HP, but to a Windows Update replacement to the “Intel Corporation - Display - Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family” drivers:  Intel Corporation Display software update released in February, 2011 (useless link  http://winqual.microsoft.com/support/?driverid=20411791).   IE9 started working OK when I set “Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering*” (see http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1678709 with reference to “faulting module igdumdx32.dll”), so will now investigate removing that update.
Sorry to have cast aspersions on HP.  MS did this to themselves, as usual.

  • Apple remote no longer works?!

    Hi everyone,
I recently replaced the 120 GB hard drive with a 200 GB hard drive, clean install (no disk imaging or time machine). I did it myself having seen it been done before and relatively knowledgeable about computer hardware. I grounded myself and was careful to put everything back as I saw it.
Everything went well EXCEPT *my Apple Remote no longer works*. The light in the button to open the laptop works fine and my remote works on other computers, but in System Preferences the option to pair the remote doesn't even exist anymore. I understand I probably screwed something up when I opened my laptop up, but I have a few questions first.
My first question is this: *Is there some sort of software setting/diagnostic that I can run to test the connection to the infrared receiver?*
My other question is: *Is there anything special I should know about the infrared receiver hardware? Any known issues, typical problems, or things I should check to make sure everything is connected?*
I've double-checked the connection, the receiver is DEFINITELY connected to the mini-strip (along with the button light).
    Thanks,
    - Keith

The Hardware Tests (boot from the install DVD and hold d) should show if the receiver isn't working.
In System Preferences/Security is "Disable remote control infrared receiver" checked by any chance, try checking/un-checking it and see if Pair lights up ? (I don't Pair, I leave it to work with any remote as I have three floating about)

  • For some unknown reason my app for Remote no longer works.  It says it cannot find my itunes.  I have tried to remove it and signed out and back in all that jazz but it didnt help.  Anyone else have a solution for this?  Thx.

For some unknown reason my application "Remote" no longer works.  I deleted it from my phone.  Signed out of Itunes and back in.  Turned back on home sharing and all that jazz but it says it cannot find my itunes library.  Is anyone else having this problem and if so how did you fix it?  Thx.

    Hello Philly,
I believe that when you reset your ipod(command given from the computer, right?)  touch WHILE the ipod was updating, It cleared the system in the middle of writing files, thus corrupting(equivalent of cutting of in the middle of a sentence) the basic running system.
I suggest you go to an apple store and ask for a technical diagonosis in person. they may offer to help if the problem is fixable. If your ipod is still under warrenty, i would guess it would be free/low cost.

  • Airport Express relay and remote no longer work

After upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.4 from Tiger 10.4.11, my two Airport Express units (one relay, one remote) will no longer work. My Airport Extreme Base unit is fine, and our desktops and laptops still connect to the wireless. However, I want to be able to use the Express units to extend our wireless through the rest of the house and play iTunes, as I did before upgrading.
I have spent days trying to fix this, and I have probably worn out the hard reset by now. I have checked to see if I need any updates, but my screen assures my I am fine. The two express units are sometimes recognized by the Airport Utility, sometimes not. Usually when I try to do a manual set-up, I am told that an error occurred with the configuration for the Express unit.
Any advice/sympathy is appreciated. If I can't fix this, I guess I have two semi-expensive paperweights. Bear in mind, I love my Macs and Apple products in general, but right now, the whole thing is reminding me of Dell ****.

Any advice out there? I've even taken bypassed my main Extreme base to plug the ethernet connection directly into the Mac desktop to do software updates that might have been missed by going through the Extreme and wifi. While it did install one security update, it didn't affect the Express units.
I'm wondering about firmware. I have checked over and over for software updates, and my system assures me that everything is up to date. However, I'm concerned that somehow I'm missing a firmware update. My Airport Utility tells me my Extreme is running on Version 5.7, and on the few times one of the Express units shows up, it shows as running Version 6.#.
Do I need to manually install a firmware update, and if so, how? I terrified that I will mess up the ONE wifi unit that is functioning.
Ironically, my Extreme base is the oldest in my batch-both of the Express units are newer than it.

    HI Dirko99:
    Welcome to the HP  forum!
Thank you for your query.  I am pleased to assist you to the best of my ability!
I understand that after upgrading to Windows 8.1, your remote control does not work, or the volume control built into the side of the computer. HP does not have updated drivers for Windows 8.1 and your computer. Downloading or Updating Software and Drivers for HP Computers. You could try the built in troubleshooter, to aid in resolving issues.  Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:
    a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.
    b. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under Settings.
    c. Now type Hardware Troubleshooter in the Search option.
    d. Click on Hardware troubleshooter to run the troubleshooter.

  • Apple remote no longer works under 10.6.2 on Mac Mini

Have just updated my Mac Mini to 10.6.2, only to find that it no longer recognises the white Apple remote at all. I have tried both a paired remote and an unpaired remote. I have even tried pairing the unpaired remote. Nothing works. The Mini simply does not recognise it.
This is really annoying as the Mac Mini is used as a media centre, and the remote is therefore used all the time through Front Row.
Anyone else got this problem and, if so, is there a solution? Thank you so much.

Candelair sadly didn't survive a restart on the Mac Mini, so I am back to not having any use of the Apple Remote whatsoever. Candelair had also caused some sound problems - the sound kept increasing and then decreasing.
I am not sure what Apple added into the mix with 10.6.2 but it is a real pain! When you use a Mac Mini as a media centre, you need the use of a remote. And no sound problems.
I am going to have to bite the bullet and spend hours today rolling back the Mini to 10.6 and then updating to 10.6.1 only if I can. 10.6.1 worked perfectly with the Apple Remote with just the Apple IR software.

  • Infrared remote no longer working

I have a mid 2007 MacBook Pro (3,1) (A1226). The infrared remote used to work, but no longer does. I was hoping for some troubleshooting input.
I've researched a bit and at this point, I'm thinking it's a hardware failure and I need to replace some hardware -- I suspect either the IR Receiver and/or the cable that connects the IR Receiver to the logic board.
As a bit of history, shortly before I noticed that the IR stopped working, my MacBook Pro was in AppleCare (twice) getting its hard drive replaced, and of course the hard drive sits directly below the cables that connect the IR receiver. So, something could have been damaged during repair. (Unfortunately, I didn't realizethat the IR stopped working until after my Apple Care expired. I did bring the Mac back to the Apple store and they confirmed the IR Recevier no longer worked, but they said it was no longer covered.)
Anyway, below are some troubleshooting facts. I'd appreciate any advice on which is the likely hardware part requiring replacement (or advice on a software solution which I might have overlooked):
    1) I see the USB IR Remote device listed in System Profiler
    2) I see the infrared options in System Preferences|Security
    3) the system is not "paired" with a specific remote
    4) my infrared remote works fine with a friend's iMac, but not my MacBook Pro
    5) I can confirm remote infrared activity looking at it in iSight
    6) I have tried different batteries in the remote
    7) Front Row works fine via Option-Esc, but not via Remote Menu button. Likewise iTunes doesn't respond to remote commands anymore.
    8) the remote likewise doesn't work on a cleanly installed OS X
    9) the remote doesn't work at system startup (holding 'menu') to select the boot device
    10) I have reset my Mac's PRAM
    11) I have installed the Candleair driver, and run its diagnostics, etc.
My twice replaced hard drive has started 'ticking' again so I am going to go into the machine to replace it with a 3rd party drive. It'd be nice to fix the IR while I have it open, and nicer still to only have to buy and replace the IR parts actually needed.

Do you think that the cable is disconnected? Would the IR Receiver show up in System Profiler if so?
I'm thinking instead that perhaps a cable got only partially damaged, so that the device is detected but doesn't successfully pass data.
Another fact is that the sleep light still works, which is something that also connects to cable that connects (along with the hard drive) the IR Receiver to the logic board. So, if it's damage to the cable that connects stuff to the logic board (rather than the cable on the IR Receiver itself), it's not enough damage to knock out the sleep light.
I did bring it back to the Apple Store and they opened it up again and confirmed the IR Receiver wasn't working, but they didn't want to fix it since it was 120 days after the initial repair (which is only warranted for 90 days).
    I guess I'm wondering what's more likely:
    1) damaged connecting cable
    2) burned out/damaged IR Receiver
    3) both
I guess the cost of replacing every relevant part is less than the hassle of disassembling the laptop multiple times, but if some facts of the problem point definitivly to only one part, I'd prefer to only replace what's needed.

  • Apple Remote no longer working?!?

I'm hoping someone can help me. All of the sudden my Apple Remote is no longer working with my Macbook. I checked to make sure the infrared sensor was not disabled and even changed the battery just in case. I know the remote is working because I can see the light blinking on the remote when I look at it through photo booth, but I still can't get it to work with my computer. I can't even get it to pair with it. I am running iTunes 8 and OS 10.5.5. Any suggestions or ideas as to how to fix this?? Thanks!

If you know someone else with an Apple remote, you might try theirs on your MacBook. Since the option to disable the IR receiver appears in the Security System Preferences we can assume that Mac OS X sees the receiver and the hardware is functioning. (If the IR receiver hardware or software had failed, it would not appear in the Security System Preferences.) So, that would seem to indicate a problem with the Apple remote. But, we can't really say that for certain unless you can prove a different remote does work. If you do go to the Apple store and can show them that the remote is not working, as long as you're still under warranty, they can probably just hand you a new remote. Or you could buy a new one if you're not still under warranty or AppleCare.

  • Multiple sets of radio buttons no longer working

    Hello All:
My first post so I apologize in advance if I don't do it
    properly.
I have a few web forms that have multiple groups of radio
buttons on them that are suddenly errorring out since we moved to
CF 7. I started tinkering with the one form that I have posted the
code for and kept cutting it down to the simplest code that begins
to produce the error. If I just use 1 radio button group everything
works fine, but the minute I add the second one, the whole thing
throws a "Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression"
message. Each radio button group has it's own group name and a
checked value. It is very simple code and very frustrating why it
has suddenly stopped working so any assistance is welcome.

  • Apple Radio Remote doesn't work with the iPod Touch?!

In the Future it will be possible to use the iPod touch with the radio remote. About a week before on the apple store site the radio remote was supported by the iPod touch.

    Better than the Apple radio/remote.
Works with my (1st gen) iPod Touch.

  • 3 remotes no longer working - is it the old TV

My TV is about 10 - 12 years old (I guess it's a tube TV - it's not a plasma or LCD). My FiOS remotes have worked flawlessly, but now they only work intermittently, or only some remote control functions work.
For example, sometimes the Mute control wil work, sometimes not. For the past couple days, I cannot switch the TV Input choice to watch DVDs. I can no longer turn the TV set on using the remote.
I replaced battery remotes; cleaned the surfaces of the TV set; and tried three different FiOS remote devices.
Is the problem possibly a component on my TV, such as a sensor?

Since you tried 3 remotes, that's exactly what it is. Your ir sensor on the tv is failing.

  • BBC Radio Player no longer works with Airport Express

This weekend I've been unable to get connected to the BBC Radio Player (from http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio). This has worked for the past year, and suddenly stopped.
I have narrowed the problem down to the airport express. Radio streaming works without a hitch when I plug in the ethernet cable direct to either mac, or when I connect to another local Wi-Fi connection. But when I use Airport Express, the radio streaming always times-out.
I even set up one of the computers to share internet over the airport, and was easily able to stream the radio connection to the other computer: so the airport cards themselves are working perfectly.
I wondered if anyone else had the same problem. I've noticed it since I upgraded to 10.4.3 and included the 2005-01 Airport Update, though I didn't notice the problem for several days (I did no streaming in that time).
I've tried downgrading to Airport 4.2, and even Airport Express Firmware 6.1.1, but nothing has solved the problem. There isn't an obvious setting I've missed - is there?
If anyone else can stream BBC Radio with all the recent updates applied through Airport Express, I would be interested in hearing from them...

Well, I found the answer to my problem. I'll add it here, in case someone else ever has the same problem.
My Speedtouch modem was set to distribute DHCP addresses. But my Airport Express was ALSO set to do this. This had the strange effect of allowing everything to work, apart from Real Player radio/video streams. I have no idea why this was the only effect.
The solution was to set the Airport Express to do nothing, and let the modem do it all. Now both computers can stream radio at the same time, and everything is fine. But it took many hours to find the problem.

  • Headphones remote no longer works with iphone 4s

I just purchased an iphone 4s and when i was listening to music the skip/back track functions no longer work, is there any suggestions to make it functional again.
Double click reduces volume to 50% or brings up Siri where it should skip to next track

Ring up iHome and ask them for a fix... And if they cant supply you with a fix... Then you should be entitled to a replacement or a upgrade, as firmware upgrades on your ios device should not affect audio products......
