Radio Station disappeared

The "Public" category of radio stations mysteriously disappeared from the list of categories under the Radio tab. I'm using itunes 9. Of course this is the only radio category that I ever use. Any ideas how to bring it back?

It caused quite an outrage when Apple first started making the changes last month. They restored some things but not others. You might wish to submit your feedback to Apple:

Best of luck.

  • Radio Station listings have disappeared

I'm running itunes 8.0.1 on OSX 10.5.5, and the Radio station listings seem to have disappeared. The Radio box is there, but when I click on it I get the "Stream, Bit Rate, Comment" column headings, but there are no radio listings. Interestingly, the couple of stations that I had placed in playlists are still there and play fine. I tried rebooting, unchecking and rechecking the Radio check box in Preferences, restarting iTunes, but nothing works. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: I spoke a bit too soon...some of the radio stations in the list play fine, but it seems some (1.FM stations for instance) are not connecting.

I can't hear anything at all.  I have tried radio.com, uberstations.com, streema and tune in, etc. It either shows it is playing or the link for the player just spins.  It is www.wcbsfm.cbslocal.com

  • ITunes Radio Stations on Remote iPad App

How do you display iTunes Radio stations, including custom stations in the iPad Remote app? I'd prefer to see large tiles the way albums are displayed. I've seen them displayed that way previously, but now I'm stuck with only able to show this category list?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff

I just stumbled upon this problem too and found that if you press edit on the "more" menu and drag the radios icon to the toolbar, it stays there. I played with this for a while and it doesnt disappear.

  • App Gamer iTunes Radio station won't load

On iTunes on Windows, the App Gamer iTunes Radio station no longer loads.  Other iTunes Radio stations work fine.  When I select play it displays the loading bar in the status window, then that disappears and the Apple logo appears.
    Thanks!

    First, try resetting the device:
Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
If this doesn't help, it may be Apple's servers are overloaded/down/whatever. Try again later. That being said, Apple shows no issues with the system at the moment. You can check this here:

  • One of my radio categories disappeared?

I'm not even sure what I did. I have iTunes 9 and was about to click on my favorite radio station and all of a sudden, the category (Folk) is no longer there. (As in, it was there 5 minutes ago, and now it is not.) Restarting iTunes did not help. This particular station doesn't make it easy to add a URL manually and I would like to listen to it in iTunes rather than in my browser, so I'm not sure what I did or how to get it back?

Exact same thing happened to me...saw "Folk" there, clicked on it and it disappeared. (Same thing with "Home Sharing.") Just yesterday I added an AirPort Express to my home system to stream music to my stereo. Don't know if this is related.
I'm in the midst of Googling this...

  • Missing my widget presets (analogous to radio station preset buttons)

When you listen to the radio in your car, you can preset buttons to save your favorite radio stations.
There was a way to do this on previous versions of mozilla firefox; I had setup some icons on one of the top bars to got to my favorite websites. Somehow, that toolbar has disappeared.

    Hello amosxo,
to set your favourite radio channels you have to do the following things:
    1. Make a Wifi-connection to the Air1000
    2. Choose "Radio"
    3. Press "OK" --> the keyboard appears
    4. Type in the name of the radio channel which you like to save
    5. Choose the right channel from the list by going down with the cursor
    6. Press the Heart-Symbol to set the radio channel to the folder "My Favorite"
I think it is not possible to delete the default radio channels.
I dont know which OS is used in the Air1000.
    hope this helps you
    best regards

  • Missing radio station

I recently upgraded to iTunes 9 and went to the Radio stations, double clicked on the Latin station to see the streams and it suddenly disappeared. Does anyone know what could have caused this and how or if it is even possible to get the station back?
FYI, I have attempted to exit the program as well as restart my laptop and both attempts failed. I noticed in other topics there have been talks of missing radio stations but as I stated when I opened the Radio library the Latin station was there, it simply disappeared after I accidentally double clicked it.

    See this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2151073&start=15&tstart=0
Esp. Ryan Dixon's response (from iTunes Radio Directory team). Apparently some categories were consolidated, etc. But if enough people send feedback to iTunes team they will respond , as the thread above resulted in the "Ambient" stream being put back up.
Personally, I'm looking for the "Folk" genre to come back, esp. radio IO Acoustic..

  • Where are the Radio Station current charts?

Previous versions of iTunes had a list of radio stations across the country and we could pick one and see the songs on their current playlist available fo sale at the iTunes store. Where is that option?

Unfortunately, they have been removed, and without a word of their demise. Just one day, they up and disappeared. I love them as well, as they served many useful purposes. I hope that enough people would comment and make Apple rethink their position, but alas, apparently not enough...
    Hope that this helps...

  • Missing iTunes radio station?

I noticed today that my favorite iTunes Radio station, Dream Pop, is missing. Did they do away with some stations? My wife and I purchased a lot of songs we've heard on that station.

Ladies of the'80s disappeared for me too. I thought maybe that I accidentally deleted it, so I searched through iTunes Radio to add it back to my favorites and I could not locate. I even tried searching via Google, unfortunately when I clicked on the link, it said that the station was unavailable.
Please bring back Ladies of the'80s!

  • Radio stations don't work

I can't load any radio stations on iTunes Radio. I always get the reply "Temporarily unavailable.  Try again later"  or the link immediately disappears. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try a Restart.  Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Resetting your settings You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
Resetting your device Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.   Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.    http://www.apple.com/contact/

  • Radio stations that I've ALWAYS listened to through iTunes won't play now

Hello, I have a few radio stations that I listen to , they stream live, such as my local NPR station and WFUV from NYC. I have listened to them daily and nightly on iTunes for over a year. All of a sudden, tonight, they won't play. When I click on them in my iTunes library I get a little window that says "Opening URL" and "connecting" with a button for STOP. The window is there for a few seconds and then disappears, and I am not connected. Normally I get an instantaneous connection to my stations. Can anyone out there help me? I have Wireless DSL in my home and at work. I havn't changed anything in my iTunes. This is so frustrating!! I can listen through Window Media Player if I go to the stations website and click on that, so the problem seems to be iTunes.
    Thanks for any help,
    Karen

Hi...this morning when I tried the stations were back...it's the oddest thing! I COULD get other stations to stream, just not the two I always listen to. So then this morning, everything was back to normal...who knows?
Hope you can get your stations back too!

  • How to use my iPhone 4 to select Internet radio stations on MacBook Pro

Okay, once again I return here to seek guidance and wisdom.  Fellow members here told me about Air Video, a terrific set of programs for iOS and OS X to stream videos from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 4.  It is awesome!
Now, my other need (?).  I want to run something on my Mac that lets me select Internet radio station streams like TuneIn for ex., but I want to be able to change selections on whatever is on the Mac from the iPhone 4.  What I want to do is use the iPhone 4 as a remote for the app on the Mac which I want to connect to either some external speakers or someday to a real external Dac, amp, and speakers.
I have the TuneIn Pro app on my iPhone 4 already and on the Mac via browser have accessed their website.
Now someone surely is going to mention Airplay or something to stream from the iPhone4.  From the cost of Airplay capable hardware, I just can't afford it yet.  Maybe if I could find Bluetooth speaker or device?
One other thing to throw in for thought.  I have not only iTunes on my MacBook Pro, but also Fidelia and Amarra, and thinking about Decibel or Audirvana.  In other words somewhat hi-def music output quality available on the Mac.  So....I do have a remote app for Fidelia and think there's one for either Decibel or Audirvana, so that brings me back to Internet radio on the MacBook Pro.  If I can find a way to use the iPhone 4 to select an app on the Mac for Internet radio, I can play those plus hi-def music via one of those programs.
I probably didn't say all that right, but I hope you can decipher what I am asking about.
If nothing else, can you recommend inexpensive Bluetooth speakers to play radio from the iPhone4?  I was hoping to buy some AudioEngine powered speakers for the Mac, hence the desire to run all sound/music through that device but using the iPhone4 as control device.

    Hi Starbux48
First off. The benefits of using Amarra, Pure Music, Audirvana or whatever, can only be heard if you have a true audiophile system set-up. Think of systems starting from 5000 U$. Then only if your music files are high resolution. Think ALAC or FLAC, AIFF or Wave.  For all other music playing the itunes set-up suffices. So the better idea for you will be playing the music over your macbook.
Mountain lion offers airplay for intel based macs. You can use this. If you install the free Remote App. on your iPhone, you can use that to control itunes on your Macbook via wifi/Airplay. The remote app offers you the view of itunes on your Macbook and the screen of your Macbook changes with what you do on your iPhone. So you can even control the itunes radiostation from your iPhone.
If you have an older, non-intel macbook, you can install airserver on your macbook. This will set you back 15 dollars or so, but will basically do the same.

  • Is there a way that iTunes can act as a Radio Alarm Clock? I have found the radio station I enjoy listening to in the iTunes Radio List. Is there anyway iTunes (and my Mac) can be set to come-on and start playing that Radio Station from Sleep mode at spec

Is there a way that iTunes can act as a Radio Alarm Clock?
I have found the radio station I enjoy listening to in the iTunes Radio List. Is there anyway iTunes (and my Mac) can be set to come-on from Sleep mode and start playing that Radio Station at specific times of the day?
Any App or plug-in that does that?
    Many thanks
    Kevin

Turning your Mac into a clock radio.
    1.  In iTunes create a playlist that contains just the radio station you want to wake up to.
    2.  Export the playlist (as .m3u works well).  Get Info on your playlist file and look at the Open With entry to make sure it points to iTunes, VLC or some other app that will stream your station.
    3.  In iCal create an event entry at the time you want to wake up.
    4.  Right (or Control) click on your wakeup event and select Get Info.
    5.  For "alarm" select Open File.
    6.  Now under Open File there will be a place to add the file to open.  It will probably be some default entry (like iCal).  Click on it will allow you to select "other."  Then use the file dialog to select your playlist file.
Your Mac will wake you up at the appointed time.  You don't need to keep iCal running.  If you want to put you Mac to sleep for the night then there is one more thing you need to do.  Open System Preferences to Energy Saver and click on the Schedule button.  Check Start up or wake and set the wake up time to slightly before your iCal alarm time.

  • ITunes no longer connects to many of the radio stations that it used to

I recently patched the new upgrade version of iTunes. I decided to wait this long so they could work out some of the bugs first. Apparently it still has some. And this post applys to both the Mac and Windows versions.
I used to enjoy listening to the di.fm Chillout station in the Ambient section of iTunes. After I patch this new upgraded version of iTunes it will no longer connect to the station. This by no means is hindering me from listening to my station, but it is taking away the convenience of doing it all through iTunes. The new version also cut off many other radio stations as well (unable to connect).
Andbody have a clue if Apple is ever going to fix this?

    Some things to try:
    • try connecting via ethernet
    • turn Airport off and then back on, or go to System Preferences -> Network and select Renew DHCP Lease
    • from System Preferences, create a new network location
    • turn the router and/ or modem off, wait 15 seconds, turn them back on again
    • zap the PRAM:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    • check and possibly adjust the security settings on the router
See if any of those work for you.
