Radio station stream

When I link to radio stream (from radio station's web site) it goes into in the music library. So when I quit itunes it is no longer there and I have to go to radio station's web site again and again.
Am I missing a setting?
Thanks in advance
imac Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Try all the options on that buffer setting. Also, check your QuickTime preferences and make sure the bandwidth setting is the same or LOWER than your actual connection speed to the Internet.

  • New Radio Station & Streaming Problems

I have added my favorite Public Radio station to my iTunes library, but I can not get it to connect. It shows up in the library as a radio station, but nothing happens when I click on the play button.
In addition, I'm having trouble with all the radio stations I've tried that were already in the iTunes folder. I've tried changing the streaming buffer size in preferences, but the network keeps stalling and needing rebuffering, regardless of the streaming buffer size I choose.
PowerBook PowerPC G4   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   Other computer is iMac, OS X v.10.3.9

I single file in a playlist repeats constantly for me (just tried it - don't usually have playlists for single items), but I have never tried using repeat on an audio stream. I expect the repeat doesn't work with streams because iTunes never gets an end-of-file notification which would then tell iTunes to start again at the beginning - but that is just a guess.
What happens if you open the stream in Quicktime? If the stream is in iTunes library, you can open it's Get Info box, click on Edit URL on the summary tab, and you can then copy the address to paste into Quicktime's Open URL. If the stream is one on the default iTunes Radio list, drag it into your Library and you can then click on the Edit URL button to copy the address. iTunes an Quicktime are not exactly the same, so you may get different results. You could also try VLC Player". Testing streams in another player may help you identify if it is really iTunes at fault.
I usually don't have streaming problems, although I rarely have a stream on longer than 2 or 3 hours at a time and I think about 5 hours is the longest I've had a stream running.

  • Radio station streaming now gone

Anyone else having trouble streaming radio stations that use Liquid Compass or Win Media Player. I know PPC plugins don't work on Intel Macs but I could have sworn it was working a couple weeks ago. I was away for a week and now I just get one of those missing plugin icons.

  • How do I turn off the radio station streaming I used several days ago on Safari?

I went to local npr.org radio station in Safari and listened for the afternoon.  When I closed out the tab, the station continued playing, and now every time I get on Safari, the station starts playing.  I have closed out Safari, rebooted computer, even trashed Flip4 app and still can't get it to stop. Every time I open Safari, which I like to use, I am listening to WAMU in DC.  Ideas?  Thanks! Kate

From the Safari menu bar, select

  • How do I delete a radio station stream from "My Stations" in iTunes 11.1 for the Mac?

So far in iTunes Radio I have 3 personalized radio stations set up. I want to get rid of one of them. How to do? This is on my Mac and not iOS.

    Hello, macpro3000.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Deleting a station in iTunes Radio is similar to deleting other iTunes media.  To delete a station, click the desired station, then press delete on your keyboard. You can also delete multiple stations by clicking and dragging your cursor over multiple stations. Once you've selected the desired stations, press delete on your keyboard.

  • Radio station stream constantly rebuffers, drops

At WNYU Radio <http://www.wnyu.org> we've noticed that our MP3 stream requires rebuffering and then drops without error/notice extremely often. This is our #1 listener complaint.
It's been tested over the course of a year with numerous clients on a multitude of connection speeds -- streaming straight into Quicktime on the same machine will work fine, but iTunes will still rebuffer and then silently drop it. Winamp, XMMS, Rythmbox, etc. all work perfectly on the exact same machine & network (including running Winamp in Parallels)
Our streaming server runs Quicktime Streaming Server and our sysadmin claims the bandwidth capacity is not even close to being saturated, which is supported by the fact that it works perfectly in every other client on the same computer and same network connection.
Do we have something misconfigured for iTunes? Is this an iTunes bug?

Try all the options on that buffer setting. Also, check your QuickTime preferences and make sure the bandwidth setting is the same or LOWER than your actual connection speed to the Internet.

  • How to use my iPhone 4 to select Internet radio stations on MacBook Pro

Okay, once again I return here to seek guidance and wisdom.  Fellow members here told me about Air Video, a terrific set of programs for iOS and OS X to stream videos from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 4.  It is awesome!
Now, my other need (?).  I want to run something on my Mac that lets me select Internet radio station streams like TuneIn for ex., but I want to be able to change selections on whatever is on the Mac from the iPhone 4.  What I want to do is use the iPhone 4 as a remote for the app on the Mac which I want to connect to either some external speakers or someday to a real external Dac, amp, and speakers.
I have the TuneIn Pro app on my iPhone 4 already and on the Mac via browser have accessed their website.
Now someone surely is going to mention Airplay or something to stream from the iPhone4.  From the cost of Airplay capable hardware, I just can't afford it yet.  Maybe if I could find Bluetooth speaker or device?
One other thing to throw in for thought.  I have not only iTunes on my MacBook Pro, but also Fidelia and Amarra, and thinking about Decibel or Audirvana.  In other words somewhat hi-def music output quality available on the Mac.  So....I do have a remote app for Fidelia and think there's one for either Decibel or Audirvana, so that brings me back to Internet radio on the MacBook Pro.  If I can find a way to use the iPhone 4 to select an app on the Mac for Internet radio, I can play those plus hi-def music via one of those programs.
I probably didn't say all that right, but I hope you can decipher what I am asking about.
If nothing else, can you recommend inexpensive Bluetooth speakers to play radio from the iPhone4?  I was hoping to buy some AudioEngine powered speakers for the Mac, hence the desire to run all sound/music through that device but using the iPhone4 as control device.

    Hi Starbux48
First off. The benefits of using Amarra, Pure Music, Audirvana or whatever, can only be heard if you have a true audiophile system set-up. Think of systems starting from 5000 U$. Then only if your music files are high resolution. Think ALAC or FLAC, AIFF or Wave.  For all other music playing the itunes set-up suffices. So the better idea for you will be playing the music over your macbook.
Mountain lion offers airplay for intel based macs. You can use this. If you install the free Remote App. on your iPhone, you can use that to control itunes on your Macbook via wifi/Airplay. The remote app offers you the view of itunes on your Macbook and the screen of your Macbook changes with what you do on your iPhone. So you can even control the itunes radiostation from your iPhone.
If you have an older, non-intel macbook, you can install airserver on your macbook. This will set you back 15 dollars or so, but will basically do the same.

  • How to add a radio station to the library

just loaded itunes 6 (windows box) and can't find out how to add a radio station to the library

If your current stations in WMP are .pls or .m3u URL's, they may work in iTunes also. Use the "Open Stream" command from the Advanced menu and put in the URL that includes .pls/.m3u. If the URL is a .mwv variety, those are Windows proprietary format and not supported by iTunes. Same with .ra streams (Real Audio).
.pls & .m3u usually indicate MP3 based streams supported in iTunes. It's up to the original radio station/streaming site to select the format and make it available. Shoutcast.com & Live365.com are great resources for mp3 based streams.

  • Radio stations using flip4mac not playing after upgrading to Lion

I used to listen to radio station-streaming which used flip4mac. Everything worked fine until I upgraded to Lion. I have searched around in different fora and I realized that there are many reports about similar problems. Has anyone heard of a solution/fix to that??
    Thanks!

    Ajay
Thank you!  For whatever reason, resetting the PRAM did work and solved the problem as now my iMac goes to sleep properly.  Sorry for the delay in responding, but I wanted to test it for 2 days to make sure.
    Thanks again!!

  • Auto updating of radio station genre tag

I listen to several radio stations streaming via iTunes. I've made a playlist of them for convenience. However, I don't like it that iTunes automatically updates the genre each time I play a station. Some of them have long, annoying genre's listed (eg: Alternative, Eclectic, Pop, Rock, AAA, Mixed) which shows up in my genre list in my library.
Any tricks on how to prevent automatic updating of the genre tag?
    Thanks,
    Keith

Dose anyone know if the auto installation of JRE
dependent on entry contained within the J2se tag will
be flexible enought so that the JRE is downloaded from
within the intranets web server instead of from SUN.I have not managed yet to even have a successful autodownload from the Sun web site.
More, the URL from the jnlp spec is different from a recent doc on java.sun.com:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=38&thread=71021
From what I read from the jnlp spec, section 6.4, the server uses the extension protocol to serve JREs.
So you must write a cgi script or servlet that decodes the extension protocol to find out what version of the JRE for what operating system and what architecture is requested.
I have not tested this. If you manage to confirm that this mechanism works, please tell here in the forum.
Another idea we are playing with is to put the JRE
installer in a .jar file sign it and place it in a
native directory dependent on the platform its
targeting and have the client check the JRE version.Sounds complicated. I believe you will have to use the installer support API of Web Start to achieve this.
Shortcuts, why on a second run, and not default a
first run, on testing on our end users, they cannot
understand after starting the application from the
browser that they need to back and press the web
button again or start web start. (From an interactive
system design point of view - and the studying of our
end users, it would be a lot less confusing for the
end user).IMHO Web Start needs some additional tweaking, before it can be used for deployment for Win32 boxes where users are no admins. At present one must trick, like providing a Java technology based extension installer.

    Marc

  • How do you bookmark internet radio station?

I have been listening to Internet Radio stations on Itunes Windows 12.0.1.26
Seems like there has to be a means of "bookmarking" an Internet Radio Station stream.
I am referring to how to bookmark one of the hundreds of stations

This is not really an iTunes U question per se ... so you might have better luck in a different forum.
However, I "think" this is the correct answer.
To have your stream listed, by default, in the "Radio" playlist, I believe you would have to contact Apple directly. But you can create a "playlist" file and refer to your stream within it. Playlist files are double-clickable and are imported directly into iTunes. I have tested this theory with Shoutcast playlists and it works like a charm. Here's Apple's blurb (out of date for developers, but not necessarily for you) on the subject:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/QuickTime/QT6WhatsNew/Chap1/chapter1_section58.html
So the basic idea would be to create a playlist file, attach it to a link on your website, and then just refer users to the link. Once they click the link, iTunes would do the rest.

  • Nokia Internet Radio WMA-streams?

    Hi!
Is it possible to have the Nokia Internet Radio to support radio stations streaming in WMA format. If not, any recommendations on other such programs!

Pretty sure Nokias can't pay ACC streams.  It is a s simple as that.

  • Streaming of Mediacorp Radio Stations via OSX Lion

This question is for the folks in Singapore.
Previously, I was able to listen to these radio stations using the streaming facility in OSX Leopard
    http://entertainment.xin.msn.com/en/radio/gold905/programmes.aspx.
I have recently upgraded to OSX Lion using Safari 5.1.5 but when I click the "Hear us now" button, all I see is an asx file window pop up with a continuous spining circle?? with the words Loading Movie...
Btw, I am not in Singapore, hence why I am streaming.
    Any advice please?
    Thanks

Thanks Roger. I haven't updated yet so I can't check to see if your reply is accurate or not. But I will know where to look next time I'm in the Apple store. I'll assume you're correct and mark this as solved. Thanks for the help.

  • How do I record streaming radio stations?

I am attempting to record a live streaming radio station, www.iRadiola.com, 90.3FM. Can someone tell me if that is even possible? My band is going to be played in an hour and I want to get the broadcast recorded. www.thedivys.com

Audio High Jack Pro is the Best way to go. Do a search in Google for it. The Demo is free but the full package is about $30. It will record any audio played thru your Mac. Really neat program...all you do is point it at what program your using i.e. Real Audio, Quick Time. Then just hit the record button. It has a built in itunes tab so it will import straight into it. I use this for my podcast to add streaming audio such as Press Conferences and Game Highlights. Works great.
    Good Luck
