Radio stations audible on telephone line

Have had phone service (landline) with Verizon at this same location for years, and  was working well until about one month ago, when Internet connection was lost, followed by telephone box not receiving power. Repairman replaced external boxes and phone box/battery, and now we are receiving what sounds like several radio stations when trying to use the phone. Callers do not hear this. Makes placing calls very unpleasant and almost inaudible.

Just a friendly reminder, this is a forum where users help other users. If you are having an issue with your Verizon service, you can use the Verizon Troubleshooter to fix and report issues with your Verizon Phone, FiOS TV, or Internet Service, as well as to schedule a repair, here is the link:

  • FIOS TV coax brings AM radio to telephone line

    I converted Phone and internet service to FiOS last spring.  Last month I added FiOS TV  and Verizon pulled in an additional 30 feet of coax in to deliver.  Within 24 hours I had an AM radio station constantly playing on all of my phones.  I've run the gamut on testing and followed all of the suggestions to no avail.  The last option is to find an in-line RF filter for coax to see if that will clear it up.  Can anyone suggest a quality filter or any other bright idea to help resolve this problem?  Thx!

    if you have an AM radio on the phone and you have fios. The reason is almost certainly a problem with the ground on the ONT. Likely when they were installing the TV service and were working with the ONT, they probably knocked the ground loose or damaged it in someway. just call tech support and they will send somone out to check/replace the ground on the ONT.

  • Phone picks up radio station

    I live in Hull, and just recently my phone has started to pick up WBZ at a level such that I am unable to use the phone. WBZ sent me an inline rfi phone filter, but it doesn't help.
    I don't want to have to rewire my house. Does anyone have any practical solutions to this problem?
    Thanks
    Dan S in Hull

    You can try using a different telephone. Some telephones can hear radio stations much easier than others. You can also try experimenting with different lengths of phone cords. Flat wire acts like an antenna. You can have Verizon install radio noise suppressors at the telephone and a rfi filter outside where the line enters your home.

  • Sound does not turn off when switching between AppTabs, ie Pnadora to other radio stations

    I have several radio stations (Pandora, NPR, etc) as Apps Tabs, but the sound does not turn off from one when switching to another.

    Thank you. This is precisely the type of solution I was looking for.
    My home network is set up with a single router that assigns DHCP addresses and does the NAT to the internet. This router does not have wireless. Its location is too out of the way (given where Comcast brought the line in) to be any good at wireless broadcast. So I installed two access points on the wired network.
    I had vaguely known something about using the same SSID on the multiple base stations but I had also heard of difficulties a university reported having some years ago.
    In any case I made the switch and it works great. I get full bars on the icon on the menu bar as I walk around the house. Exactly what I was looking for and no manual intervention once I set it up.
    Thank you.

  • Capture multiple radio stations and webcast t

    I want to capture multiple local radio stations and then webcast them. Please elp me for the equipment that I will have to use. For a single channel, I can connect my radio to the line-in of my soundcard and then use it to webcast. But in case I want to webcast multiple radio signals at a time, how to go about it.
    Please help me in this project.
    Navraj

    Hey
    first off, I'm almost certain you need the radios permission to directly webcast their show.
    secondly, you will need one Line-in for each radio show, and since most computers starts acting wonky with more than one, computer per show would probably be the easiest solution.

  • VLC Lua Plugin for Digital Imported Radio Stations

    Due to several reasons I currently need to play music using my client instead of mpd on my server. While I often listen to Digital Imported, I do not own an account there (and don't want one, escpecially not for each site), so I am stuck with their flashplayer, which let my old notebook make some noise by the fan.
    First I created a parser in python, which sucks the needed information from their site(s), but then I stumbled across a(n) (old and partially broken) json-interface to their services. Since I already had VLC installed and was curious about doing something with Lua, I created a simple script for my purpose.
    Disclaimer (mainly for the mods)
    This is completly legal. All the script does is to grab the stream from the streamurl, using their on api/interface, which leads to bypass some dumb javascript checks, which try to force you to create an account for using an external player. You will also get their advertisements - same as using the flashplayer, so no illegal stuff in here.
    Sites included
    dI.fm
    jazzradio.com
    rockradio.com
    sky.fm
    Issues
    Due to multihtreading in VLC, the lists must be sorted manually by clicking on the appropriate columnheader
    Since the URLs point to .pls files, selecting an entry will open a new node instead to play the stream, so one needs to select twice
    Because their interface is partially broken, some stations will only be reachable in .mp3 instead of .aac
    The VLC service used to fetch json data (vlc.stream) will not follow HTTP headers, so the lists will be sometimes empty (sites return 206 instead of 200).
    Installation
    Create ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/sd and ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/sd/modules directories
    Put the code below into the file ~/.local/share/vlc/lua/sd/di_vlc.lua

  • Spa3000 or Spa3102 back to back telephone line extension instrucations

                  Ive got a set of spa3000`s and spa3102 and what I want to do is use them just to extend a telephone line about 2 miles and pick it up on the other end and use a anolog phone. I will be using a set of maxstream 900mhz ethernet radios for the ethernet bridge. I have pulled everything from the net that I could find on the configuration but no go on the 3000`s. Most info is written for the 3102`s but it pretty close.  Can someone point me in the right direction on what Iam missing, for instance  you ip both but theres no mention on weather dhcp server should be on or off. Also do I use a straight or cross over cable when tying into my bridges.  Any help would be apprecated. Right as this writing Iam going to unbox the 3102`s and give them a shot but would really like a detailed configuration plan if any one has one
    Thanks  ahead of time

    I think this is what you are looking for.
    PBX Port Extension over LAN using SPA 2102 / 3102
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2149426
    The steps are basically the same for most Cisco SPA devices.
    make sure you update the firmware to the latest.
    I don't know about your converters/extenders, but test the extension seperately from the layer 1 connectivity, so you don't have to troubleshoot multiple issues.
    hope it helps,

  • Can I get this code to stream a radio station?

    I have a radio station in AAC format.
    I got this code to play an m4a file, but how would I get it to play an m4a stream?
    The stream I'd like to use is http://89.238.166.195:9162
    var mySound:SoundTransform;
    var connect_nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    connect_nc.connect(null);
    var stream_ns:NetStream = new NetStream(connect_nc);
    stream_ns.play("sample.m4a");
    mySound = stream_ns.soundTransform;
    mySound.volume = .5;
    stream_ns.soundTransform = mySound;
    how would I go about playing a streaming radio service.

    Well, a RandomAccessFile together with a counter should work. However, you can also achieve this by buffering the input rather than writing it directly out
    java.util.Vector vect = new java.util.Vector();
    try{
         while((c = istream.read()) != -1){
             vect.append(c);
    catch(IOException e){
         System.out.println("Error: " + e.getMessage());
    finally{
         istream.close();
    }     with the help of
    java.util.Vector.size() and
    java.util.Vector.elementAt(int index)
    you are able to display only 20 lines at a time, you just need the additional code for reading System.in
    public static void prompt(String s){
        System.out.print(s + " ");
        System.out.flush();
      public static String readData ( BufferedReader in)  {
        boolean verfuegbar = true;
        while ( verfuegbar){
          try{
            S = in.readLine();
            if ( S != null)verfuegbar = false ;
          catch (IOException e){System.out.print (e);}
        return S;
      }now it should work with
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
    prompt("return for continuing");
    int twentscount = 0;
    int count = 0;
    do{
       while( count < 20 && twentscount+count < vect.size() ){
           outstream.write(vect.elementAt(twentscount + count).toString() );
           count++;
    prompt("return");
    readData(in);
    twentscount += 20;
    count = 0;
    while(twentscount + count < vect.size());sure, this is code from head, and you can make many changes (e.g. instead of using twentscount use the modulo (%) operator saving one variable (while count % 20 != 0 ).
    I'm also not sure if it will definitly run , since i haven't tested it (especialy for index borders).
    I hope this will give you enough hints for this possible solution.

  • TS5181 View an iTunes Radio station song list

    I am curious if I can view a list of the songs that have previously played on one of my iTunes Radio stations.

    yes  when playing the radio... you see the 3 dots and 3 lines  ..click it and it shows you what you heard.. only plays the preview of the song.. not the whole song.

  • G2 Radio station reviews

    I'm new to the Apple TV and am overwhelmed by the amount of radio stations to pick from in each genre. Are there any lists for forums to get reviews for the particular stations by genre?
    Thanks in advance!

    I believe you have to reload the url address in the little popup box.  Copy it from from your browser line then readd it to the box.  I think it is under FILE....open stream is the next level and clicking that should give you a box where you can paste the url.

  • Radio Station setup

    I'm running a small (25watt) radio station over here in Afghanistan at one of the US bases. I'm using a X-FI Fatality Platinum Champ card as my audio output source mainly for it's ASIO capabilities.
    Now here's my issue. I'm using an IBM machine to run the radio station. I installed my X-Fi card and we're on the air but I'm having issues with getting the Cue channel on my software to work. I have ASIO 1/2 as my "On-Air" set and it's working without fail. I have ASIO 3/4 as my "Cue" channel but when I try to enable it, my software tells me that it's unable to start the device and please close all other audio programs and attempt it again. Bad part is, my DJ program is the only thing running.
    It seems as though the Creative software is not allowing my program to access the second set of speakers and use them as "Cue" and I can't figure out why. I've tried in Game Mode, Entertainment Mode, and Audio Creation mode. Nothing seems to work.
    I also have an issue where as my Mic is hot at all times on my feed and I can't seem to seperate it from the Card and control it from the software.
    Any help would be great....thanks in advance

    So by using the 1/2 and 3/4 speaker outputs I'm defeating the purpose since they use the same port?
    I guess I'm going to have to get down and dirty with the manual and really read in to how the jacks are configured.
    As far as the Mic issue goes, I've got the record option in windows audio set as the X-FI card. Mic in to the Flexijack (set to mic/line in). Anytime I unmute the mic it's live as though it's being tied in on thee sound without any external program control. When I was using my onboard audio card, I could leave the mic unmuted but it wasn't hooked to the "On-Air" stream unless I turned the mic on in the OtsAV software.
    I suppose the ASIO for X-Fi is similiar w/ the ASIO for Audigy 2/4 cards (as it works w/ Audigy as well) ... detailed explanation over Audigy 2 ASIO driver). I know the X-Fi works bit different when ASIO is in use but as there are 5 stereo output channels listed for ntive ASIO (Wave/mp3, Fron, Rear, etc.) in Creation mode ...
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=profaudio&thread.id=3472
    Hmmm... could the MIC issue come from monitoring setting (+ maybe What-u-hear used as recording source (if this needs to be set in your software))? Do you control X-Fi settings through X-Fi Audio Creation Mode Mixer or through Windows Play/Recording Panels?

  • Many radio stations useless on BT Vision

    Many of the radio stations available via freeview are stuttery on BT Vision.
    TalkSport is one of them, SMOOTH also suffers from this problem.
    What is strange is that you can record the station, and when you play it back, there is no stutter.
    WOULD A BT MODERATOR PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS!.

  • Adding Radio Station

    I would like to figure out how to get our college radio station added to list of public streams in Itunes.
    Thanks Much.

    The instructions below are targeted at adding somaFM stations to the Internet Radio application. The general instructions are applicable to any station you want to add. What will be different is the URL you add to the web address entry field.
    To Add A Station to the N900 Internet Radio
    Tap Media Button
    Tap Internet Radio
    Tap Internet radio stations
    Tap Add radio bookmark
    Tap web address entry field
    Enter http://voxsc1.somafm.com:8850
    Tap down caret with line under it to finalise entry (upper right corner)
    Tap Name entry field
    Call it whatever you want
    Tap down caret with line under it to finalise entry (upper right corner)
    Tap Save buton
    At this point the N900 will bring you back to the list of entered radio bookmarks. An information bar will appear across the screen informing you the bookmark has been taken care of.
    Scroll through list of bookmarks until you find the one you just created, based upon what you called it.
    Tap the bookmark - enjoy!
    Substitute any of the URLs below for http://voxsc1.somafm.com:8850 in the routine above to add additional stations.
    In no particular order:
    http://voxsc1.somafm.com:8300 Doomed
    http://205.188.215.227:8014 Space Station
    http://voxsc1.somafm.com:8850 Suburbs of Goa
    http://voxsc1.somafm.com:8900 Digitalis
    http://temp.somafm.com:8090 Indie Pop Rocks
    http://207.200.96.230:8014 Boot Liquor
    http://streamer-ntc-aa03.somafm.com:80/stream/1018 Groove Salad
    http://streamer-ntc-aa04.somafm.com:80/stream/1073 Lush
    http://streamer-dtc-aa01.somafm.com:80/stream/1032 Drone Zone
    In general, get the somaFM station you want on your N900 to play in Windows Media Player. Go to File|Properties and the Location listed in Properties will be the URL to enter in the routine above. This will yield the URLs for the stations I haven't listed.
    3390 - 6103b - 6133 - 6290 - 6301b - N78-3 - 5610d-2b XpressMusic - 5800d-1b XpressMusic, N900 RX-51, N8-00, C7 Astound, 808 Pureview, Lumia 1020.

  • How to use my iPhone 4 to select Internet radio stations on MacBook Pro

    Okay, once again I return here to seek guidance and wisdom.  Fellow members here told me about Air Video, a terrific set of programs for iOS and OS X to stream videos from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone 4.  It is awesome!
    Now, my other need (?).  I want to run something on my Mac that lets me select Internet radio station streams like TuneIn for ex., but I want to be able to change selections on whatever is on the Mac from the iPhone 4.  What I want to do is use the iPhone 4 as a remote for the app on the Mac which I want to connect to either some external speakers or someday to a real external Dac, amp, and speakers.
    I have the TuneIn Pro app on my iPhone 4 already and on the Mac via browser have accessed their website.
    Now someone surely is going to mention Airplay or something to stream from the iPhone4.  From the cost of Airplay capable hardware, I just can't afford it yet.  Maybe if I could find Bluetooth speaker or device?
    One other thing to throw in for thought.  I have not only iTunes on my MacBook Pro, but also Fidelia and Amarra, and thinking about Decibel or Audirvana.  In other words somewhat hi-def music output quality available on the Mac.  So....I do have a remote app for Fidelia and think there's one for either Decibel or Audirvana, so that brings me back to Internet radio on the MacBook Pro.  If I can find a way to use the iPhone 4 to select an app on the Mac for Internet radio, I can play those plus hi-def music via one of those programs.
    I probably didn't say all that right, but I hope you can decipher what I am asking about.
    If nothing else, can you recommend inexpensive Bluetooth speakers to play radio from the iPhone4?  I was hoping to buy some AudioEngine powered speakers for the Mac, hence the desire to run all sound/music through that device but using the iPhone4 as control device.

    Hi Starbux48
    First off. The benefits of using Amarra, Pure Music, Audirvana or whatever, can only be heard if you have a true audiophile system set-up. Think of systems starting from 5000 U$. Then only if your music files are high resolution. Think ALAC or FLAC, AIFF or Wave.  For all other music playing the itunes set-up suffices. So the better idea for you will be playing the music over your macbook.
    Mountain lion offers airplay for intel based macs. You can use this. If you install the free Remote App. on your iPhone, you can use that to control itunes on your Macbook via wifi/Airplay. The remote app offers you the view of itunes on your Macbook and the screen of your Macbook changes with what you do on your iPhone. So you can even control the itunes radiostation from your iPhone.
    If you have an older, non-intel macbook, you can install airserver on your macbook. This will set you back 15 dollars or so, but will basically do the same.
