Radio through iTunes shutting off

I listen to NPR through iTunes every day.  Lately it has been shutting itself off every 10 minutes and I cannot find what is causing this to happen.

  • Streaming live BBC radio through itunes

I've just installed an airport express to listen to music in my kitchen.
I'd also like to listen to the radio - streamed through itunes - in my kitchen, but can't work out how to do this.
Can I either use set my browser to play streamed audio through my airport express, or can I stream radio through itunes?
    Thanks
    B

BBC internet radio isn't compatible with iTunes. You can read more at this BBC link: Can I listen live to BBC Radio stations using iTunes?

  • Radio through itunes on ipod touch?

I know you can play streaming radio through iTunes on a computer, so is there a way to do that through iTunes or Music apps on the ipod touch? I know you can get third party apps like AOL Radio, but the problem is those won't play in the background while you use another app. The Music app as far as I know is the only thing that will run in the background, so is there a way to get streaming radio through there?

  • Itunes shuts off new MACbook pro (2011) after 15 min

I have a new 2011 Macbook pro (May 2011). I have set all time-outs (screen saver, economy modes) to "never" in the account preferences and the computer ought not to shut off ever (unless the battery is empty).
This has helped none: when playing itunes radio on the battery (I have not checked whether this also happens with the power line connected), the computer shuts down the user account and I need to log back into my account  and restart itunes etc. This complete shut down occurs about every 15 minutes. Every 15 minutes (unless I am active on the computer, of course). Every 15 minutes or so.
[I have found a similar complaint for MACbook pros from 2007 3rd generation here, but this is 2011 ...]
In the office I have a MAC PRO workstation and it plays the same station after I return from class, or if  I do not shut itunes down  overnight it still plays the next day, each time with the screen having gone to sleeep etc and with me having to log back into the computer.
    Any advice? similar problems?

    Hi,
I've noticed similar behavior - specifically with the new 2011 MacBook Pro 13 and 17" models (tested) on Cisco infrastructure - using a 1252 and 3500i/e series APs running in dual-band mode, with 5GHz preferred. I've seen the transfer rates when in close proximity to the AP move between 72mbit and 243 - occasionally 300. My 2010 system in the same position is a solid, dependable 300.
They did modify the wireless chipset in the new 2011 MacBook Pros to replace it with a true 3x3 802.11n device. Cisco have long praised the Broadcom chipsets so I will see if their wireless team can advise me on what this new gear is capable of.
I currently look after a very large deployment of wireless LAN equipment so my wireless performance is absolutely critical to my work - the 2010 system was a godsend and a testament to how wireless devices should be built. It looks to me like this could be a software issue so I only hope Apple resolves this ASAP. I'll hang on to my 2010 system for now...

  • Playing live radio through iTunes

I used to have a selection of radio stations to play live through itunes and it's gone on the new version. How can I listen live. I need to go through iTunes- not just the station stream, to use my speakers
    thanks

Again, it sounds like a bandwidth issue. What kind of connection do you have? What speed? How reliable is it?
What other programs are you running at the same time?

  • ATV hung up playing radio through itunes

I am trying to play iRadio through my ATV's and through my iTunes.  In both cases the Radio appears to lock up after only a few seconds of playing.  If i am playing the iRadio through my PC iTunes it appears to be playing normally, but, does play to ATV.  Is there a way to test connections or trouble shoot why this is happening?  Last night we played iRadio off of ATV for several hours with no issue.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you may need to put the phone into recovery mode and then do the restore after restarting your computer.

  • When I am listening to the radio (streaming through itunes) my macbook pro will log me out, quitting all the applications I have running (often firefox, word processing, itunes, etc). Why?

When I am listening to the radio (streaming through itunes) my macbook pro will log me out, quitting all the applications I have running (often firefox, word processing, itunes, etc). Why?
It's very frustrating and I don't understand why it happens. It might happen other times, but I notice it the most when I'm streaming the radio through itunes, though I think it's also happened when I'm streaming music or shows from NPR, so I don't actually know if it's an itunes thing, or an internet thing? Or just my computer being stupid?  But how can I fix it?
    Thanks!

My best guess at this point is a problem wwith 10.5.8
It seems clear to me that sometimes, seemingly randomly, software will access the video card (flash player, quicktime, Safari's HTML5 video player, etc) and it will cause a freeze and then log out.
However - it could just be video card + processor under load.
This didnt happen before 10.5.8 and I'm thinking it's not the new 27" display causing the issue.
I'm going to attempt to find time to revert back to 10.5.0 and then combo update back up to 10.5.7 which may be difficult as our IT is remote and we don't have access to Snow Leopard discs.
I may just have to bring my own in.

  • Itunes shutting down when I connect mu ipod!

Everytime I connect my ipod video itunes shuts down! I have restared and reinstalled itunes. My ipod shuffle works not the viedo ipod.

My itunes is working and so is my 5thG ipod, but when I hookup ipod to dell computer the itunes shuts off and then double clicking on the link to my itunes(located on a iomega 150 external HD)I get a message that states "Itunes.exe-application error, The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006)" I have repaired itunes and rebooted twice. When I reboot without my ipod plugged in the itunes can be recalled again.

  • ITunes Radio shutting off when exiting and using Safari

When I play a station on iTunes Radio on my iphone5 it works and plays fine as I exit and browse other apps, but when I use Safari it shuts off.  At first I thought it was because I was on a page with a video link but I tried just a text page and it shuts off every time.  Is this a bug or is there some setting I'm missing?

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • When I try starting my iPod touch, it won't start; the Apple logo comes up for a few seconds, and then, it just shuts off. I tried to charge it through an outlet; the iPod didn't even charge, so I tried to restore my settings on my computer. iTunes won't

when i try starting my IPod  it won't start, the Apple logo comes up for a few seconds, and then. it just shut off . I tried to charged it through an outlet, the IPod didn't eve charger so I tried to restore my setting in my computer, i tunes won't

But that requires the computer to see the ipod. I am having the same problem and I keep being told to restore it, but you have to either get the ipod to turn on or have the computer see it in order to so that. Right now I have a pretty useless 32GB ipod touch cos I cant get the thing to turn on! I can only get the apple logo for like maybe 20 seconds and it goes away. Ive charged it for days on a wall charger, on the computer usb charger, and on a speaker charger. Nothing works.

  • While shopping through my iTunes app my iPad shuts off, my ideas why and how I can fix it?

When I shop using the iTunes app for movies,tv shows etc... My iPad just inexplicably shuts off. Any ideas why or how I can stop this from happening?

    Quit iTunes.
Use Disk Utility and select the drive if you can, then select Erase and the middle or security option zero all data option (will delete all data of course).
When that's finished, use iTunes to restore it.
That's how I fixed mine. Make sure it's charged up first, the Mac ports sometimes cut the power off.
