Radium 49 keys with leopard and MBP??

Having trouble using my Radium 49 USB keys with my MBP (newest version) on Leopard 10.5.6
Anyone else got these working?
I have downlaoded the latest M-audio leopard driver but still no joy however, the USB powers the Radium as it all lights up..
However I also have a new Mac Pro running Leopard and the Radium just plugged striaght into this and worked?! no problem!!
What am I doing wrong? and anyone else got their Leopard MBP working with a Radium 49?

I'm thinking the MBP USB port doesn't have enough power to fully activate the keyboard.
How many USB ports does the MBP have, on the new ones there's a low power and a high power port, you might try the other USB port.
Other than that, did the Radium-49 come with a power adapter? Try it with that if it works you will know it's the USB port.

well OSX doesnt necessarily use "num lock", unless of course your using bootcamp?
but either way here is the keyboard chart/mapping comparison:

(clear is generally "num lock" jsut press it to use. or F6 or maybe fn & F6 on the wireless new keyboard)

  • Dual Boot with Leopard and Tiger

I've got a Dual 2 GHZ Power Mac, that I recently put Leopard on. Unfortunately there's a program that I need to used for a job that doesn't play well with Leopard (yeah, I shoulda made sure before the upgrade). What I was wondering is if it was possible to partition part of the system drive and load Tiger back onto it, and then be able to boot from either Tiger or Leopard. That way I can load the programs that are only friendly with Tiger on to that partition.
Or do I need to get another drive entirely and pull the Leopard system drive out?
    Thanks in advance

Hi. You can install as many different systems on different volumes/partitions as you wish. They can all be mounted at the same time, and you can select the default system to boot from in System Preferences > Startup Disc - or select at boot time by holding down the Option(alt) key as you Startup. But a system must be the only one on that volume/partition.
Where to put the 10.4 system is more tricky. If you only have one internal drive, it's possible to re-partition it live - but not really a very good idea.
It would be best to install 10.4 on a second internal drive - or a volume on that drive - or on an external FireWire drive.
Needless to say all your data should be well backed-up before starting any of this.
Rather than go through all the combinations - please post again with any detailed questions. Good Luck.

  • Anyone else having a Problem with Leopard and Photoshop CS3?

I'm using CS3 with Leopard 10.5.4 at work and there are some very aggravating anomalies, that I'd like to nail down to a cause. Most frequently, when switching from apps to P'Shop, the menu bar stays for the previous app, i.e. when going from Finder to P'shop, the menu bar still says Finder and has Finder options. Changing from Lightwave to P'Shop, the menu bar remains Lightwave.
Occasionally, an Adobe app - P'Shop or InDesign - will simply disappear and not come back. The icon in the dock shows it as active, but no amount of clicking, Command-Tabbing will reveal the app and I have to Force Quit, losing unsaved changes.
I have a feeling it's Leopard, since, I've used CS3 on Tiger and CS4 on Tiger and never had a problem.
I'm wondering if upgrading to the latest Leopard would make much of a difference.
Has anyone come across this and found any kind of answers?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    > Just because it doesn't happen to Phil (who may not use all of the same features of the Suite that others do anyway) does NOT mean that these problems are not real and are not mere PEBCAK.
Right. If someone is having a problem associated with Tiger, it's PEBAK. If Leopard is involved, it's automatically because of Leopard. Apparently, with Apple's latest OS, trouble shooting problems are no longer necessary - just blame it on Leopard and call it a day.
    b FUD
I find the dynamics here really interesting. This thread would have been very different if Vincent had posted with problems involving Tiger. Would have gone something like this:
After admonishing him for not providing more information about his setup by posting the obnoxious big blue link on how to ask questions (ahem - we know NOTHING about his machine or configuration, such as which machine, how much RAM, scratch disk or attached peripherals), there'd be all kinds of trouble shooting advice given - "try a new user", "repair permissions", "run DiskWarrior, and on and on ...
But no, since he mentions Leopard, none of that is apparently necessary and the completely, utterly
    b irresponsible
advice is given ... "that's just the way Leopard is".
Those are some serious problems he's reporting that have nothing to do with Leopard. Something is obviously hosed!
As for discounting my experience because I don't use every app in the suite as extensively as I do Photoshop, I'm FAR more qualified to discuss Leopard and CS issues than Ann or Neil who do not use Leopard at all (and have never used it as far as I know.)
"Others have problems with it", is their battle cry but it's extremely weak. Do I really need to remind you all that these forum are ALWAYS filled with people who have problems, regardless of version or OS? You act as if this forum was a ghost town when Tiger and CS3 were current!
Gee, Ann ... people are STILL reporting problems with 10.5 and CS3? How shocking! Guess what - people are STILL reporting problems with 10.4 and CS3 too! Let me make a prediction - people will have problems with 10.8 and CS9!
    Vincent-
    > I don't really deal with fonts anyway ...
Yes. You do. Even if you never type a single line of text, every application uses fonts to create menus and other GUI items. If one of those fonts are bad, it can create all kinds of problems, including the very problems you mention.
The fact that you don't seem aware of this and you're still using 10.5.4 leads me to believe you're not familiar with the basic practices of maintaining a healthy system. Again, how did you install Leopard on that machine?
Look, if you're simply trying to justify using CS4, go right ahead. It's a worthwhile upgrade in it's own right. However, if you install it on that machine in it's current state, CS4 will NOT fix your problems because you do NOT have a healthy system.
You asked for experiences with Leopard - I can launch every application in both CS3 and CS4 suites
    i simultaneously,
and STILL not have your issues. I haven't experienced anything like your CS3 problems in Leopard - on both a 2006 Mac Pro and a 2008 Macbook.
If you'd like help to try and figure out the real problem, I'm more than happy to help. If not, Adobe will gladly take your money ...

  • Final Cut Studio 2 with Leopard and Quick Time 7.3

I tried to upgrade to Leopard and Quick Time 7.3 early part of November and had numerous issues with Final Cut Pro. I had to revert back to 10.4.10 and quick time 7.2. Based on several postings on the discussion board, many others had the same issues... Is anyone aware if fixes have been implemented that would allow me to upgrade successfully at this time...
Thanks in advance for your comments/feedback...
    JBK

Thanks... That is the steps that I took when I originally tried to upgrade. After talking to Apple back in early November, appeared there was issues with Quick Time 7.3... They recommended that I convert back.. Just wondering if any fixes had been put into place that would allow me to go ahead and upgrade.... Based on your comments, I am assuming that other users are successfully using Leopard and Quick Time 7.3 with Final Cut Pro.... If that is the case, I am not sure why my system will not work properly with QT 7.3.....

  • How do I reinstall Lion if I get a new hard drive?  My mac came with Leopard and I cannot find my upgrade disk for Snow Leopard

My MacBook Pro originally came with Leopard.  I have the OS and Applications disks for Leopard but I cannot find my upgrade disk for Snow Leopard.  I would like to perform a clean install of Lion on the new hard drive and restore some data from my Time Machine backup.  I am not looking to restore the current image to my new hard drive.  I have not yet removed the exisiting hard drive nor have I wiped my data.

The only way to do that is to buy a New SL Retail DVD. Or you could buy the Lion Install USB thumb drive from Apple for $69.
You must have SL installed to then install Lion or have a thumb drive with the Lion installer.
You could also create a Lion USB Recovery thumb drive using Lion Disk Assistant. But you need to have Lion already installed and the Lion RecoveryHD Partition on your drive to make the Recovery thumb drive.

  • Help! Still can't import with Leopard and LR 1.3

I still can't import off my CF card since upgrading to Leopard. I still get the same message I got with LR 1.2:
"Could not copy a file to the requested location. (2)
    _DLL6859.NEF
    _DLL6860.NEF"
does anyone know why this might be? The import dialogue still opens automatically when I insert the card, and I can see the images in the preview pane of the import dialogue, so I don't think it's the card reader. I've double-checked all my paths and they are the same as they were with Tiger. I've got plenty of free space on my storage drive. I tried copying the files off the card onto my desktop and it won't import from there either. please help, I've been without LR for weeks and waited patiently for the upgrade but it's still not importing. Any and all assistance accepted!
    Thanks!
    Dave

well guess what folks. after several conversations with adobe, and one with apple, we figured out that it is a permissions problem on the second, internal storage drive that I use to store my photos. the LR folks say it's an apple issue and....you guessed it....the apple folks say it's an adobe issue. I suspect it's an apple issue. It was never a problem until I upgraded to leopard. And, I found the solution in the apple forums, with the help of a user there. I just had to go into the storage drive and click "ignore permissions" and presto, LR is working again (or at least import is. I haven't put it through it's full paces yet.)
wish I didn't wait until 1.3 came out to figure this out! but i figured it was a compatibility problem and I should give adobe a chance to update for leopard. Now, of course, I have a 500GB internal storage drive that nobody needs permission to mess with, but at least I have my main photo app back.....
Here's another lesson from this: hours on the phone with adobe and apple tech support, three separate techies, serial numbers verified someplace in India.......and the answer came from a user forum. Bravo!

  • Bootcamp 2.0 (released with Leopard) and USB headphones

I've been a happy bootcamp user since the 1.2 beta - mainly for Windows gaming on my Mac Pro. I have a set of USB headphones w/ mic from Altec Lansing. They have a USB adapter that two mini-stereo plugs (for audio and mic) plug into. With bootcamp 1.2 through 1.4 betas when I plugged the USB adapter in, sound stopped coming from my desk speakers and started coming out of headphones. When I unplugged it, sound switched back to desk speakers. It worked great!
Not so much with bootcamp 2.0 that comes with Leopard (10.5). I cannot figure out how to get sound to switch to headphones in Windows now. I plug them in - and sound keeps coming from desk speakers.
Bootcamp is running Windows XP SP2 with all updates applied. Yes, I have installed the bootcamp drivers that come with Leopard (I'm thinking that's what hosed me).
    Any suggestions appreciated.

Yes, this info got burried.  Basically, it's a tool for building LabVIEW-based software products.  It is highly flexible/extensible and tries to fill the holes left by LabVIEW's built-in Application Builder.  Here are some good links to more info:

  • Best Router for both a Mac Pro with Leopard and a Dell

I have posted this question in another forum, but maybe this discussion page is the better one for my question, especially in light of all the connectivity problems I'm reading about for people who have upgraded to Leopard -
Can anyone suggest a good router to purchase that would work with no problems for a Mac Pro with Leopard?
Or, the other side of the coin - what routers have you personally had problems with?
I would be connecting to the router via an ethernet cable, but I'm looking specifically for a g and b router. I need to cover my roommate too - she has a Dell and she uses a wireless usb adapter to connect wirelessly. We have a modem (cable or DSL, I think?) and high-speed internet service.
We were previously using a Netgear router, but suddenly it won't work for more than 10-15 min before it loses connection after we reset it. And this happened before I updated to the Leopard.

Apple AirPort Extreme has served my mixed environment very well. You can buy a refurbished one from Apple and save some $.

  • AE not working with Leopard and fed up

It happened a while ago, and set it up again, and again, again.
It all stated after upgrading to Leopard
Today I was about to listen to some music through AE, and once again it didn't work. I had the green light on, it shows as connected in my router setup page. I have change internet suppliers a couple of month ago and have brand new router, but it was happening with my previous router too. In fact in the last 5 months I have used 4 different router, all branded. Airport Utility couldn't find AE.
Today I spend more than 2h simply trying to set it up again.
It took 4 or 5 hard reset before Airport Utility finally found the AE.
When I clicked on continue, 9 time out of 10 I got
    Base Station Error
Airport Utility was unable to find Apple wireless device
while it is was obliviously showing before
    and back to hard reset.
If I connect an ethernet cable I get the self-addressed IP trouble, but strangely I have managed to set up AE only when the ethernet cable was connected, but the set-up was through WIFI, as it asked me to switch network.
I tried to switch off the firewall with no success either.
I looked at my local wireless networks using iStumber, and once again find some new network with the same channel as mine, so I changed mine to a channel not used. I did this a month ago already.
As I said some how after 2h of wasted time etc, I finally managed to get it going, and started to listen to some radio with Airfoil. After about an hour of listening, it when dead again.
Airport Utility doesn't find the device any more, like at the start of the day. iTunes doesn't make it available, my green light is on, my router shows it as connected, and of course I cannot print any more.
I am getting really fed up. It has been working ok for a couple of years with Tiger, but with Leopard it just works when either it wants.
After all these are Apple products, are not cheap, and don't work.
All are with last firmware, last upgrade etc..
Please tell me why all this is happening, why there isn't any fixes. We are 10.5.6 more than 18 month after launch of Leopard, with snow leopard about to become available. Is it because I am using a non intel machine?
    Many thanks

Reading over your message, I am a little unclear about how far along you are in sharing your LightRoom setup with the Laptop. I am going to assume that right now Lightroom and the pictures are both on the PC and on an internal Hard Drive. And except for the scary message you had at the beginning of changing to ver 1.2, everything is working ok. Yes?
What I'd do is wait until you get the external drive up and working. Once you are satisfied that the system works ok, and you have tested it with whatever diagnostic software you use, you are ready to start moving your images to the new drive.
Do a good backup of your images to your backup drive.
Move them to the hard drive from within Lightroom: Use the '+' symbol in the heading of the Folders panel to tell LR to add a new folder from the external drive to the LR folders panel, and then drag and drop the folders already in LR over to their new home.
This way the LR Catalog will always know where the files are.
Then when you are sure that all the image files are on the external drive and LR sees them all and everything is working correctly, exit from LR and copy the catalog file over there.
I used to use windows systems, although I converted to Mac a few years ago. You should be able to double-click on that catalog file that is on the external drive and it should start Lightroom and you should be good to go.
I just used the word "should" three times meaning I'm not really positive about that last step; if I'm wrong I hope someone on a PC will post a correction.
Once it is working OK on the PC with the external drive Load LR on the Laptop.
    Best Wishes!

  • How to select paper type for Canon iP5000 with Leopard and Photoshop CS3.

I have printed photographs quite happily for years on my iP5000 using PS7 and 10.X. However since installing Leopard and switching to PS CS3 I am unable to select paper type (glossy, matt, etc). Is this a 10.5 problem, or as I suspect a CS3 problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I can select paper type in other applications.

I don't know if it is the same for your printer but with my Canon MP600 I experienced the same problem until I came across the fact that when Print is clicked there is a Blue Triangle on the right of the dialogue. Click this and the paper type etc is displayed.
