[RAID 0 issue] - K7N2 Delta ILSR:how can i save my RAID-0 SATA DISK datas

Hi all, as a new member, i have to underlign the fact that this forums' members are very active and helpful ( personally, i thank the front usb issue post author    ).
I've an XP on a single SATA RAID-0 disk ( Promise Fasttrak 3xx duno ), since a few days, i think that the DRAM controller is KO because the mobo doesn't accept DDRAM anymore ( DDRAM is OK on other PC ). The Mboard makes long & regular beeps and i have no Video ( no BIOS & no POST ), the D-bracket indicates  no memory module or memory damaged ( case 4, led 4 is the only green ).
If u have an idea to help me..
If there's nothing more to do, how can i recover the HDD's datas ? They are very important..i've heard that the disk should be plugged on the same raid chipset ( the better is the same Mboard )
Please can you help, and sorry for my French-english
EDIT: I'll fulfill w/ more specs this WE.

Just plugging/unplugging the memory somethime solves the problem. You could have had a bad insertion or just dust in the slot. Good luck with your working computer
I already answered your RAID concerns. RAID0 with only 1 HDD is no RAID at all, just a software trick to force the controler to use the drive.

If your drive is raid0, but only 1 drive, it is no RAID at all, so it should work like any disk on any computer and be recognized normally.

  • [nForce] K7N2 Delta ILSR - Do i have to have raid with sata drive

    Hi guys,
Probably a really stupid question, but here goes
My machine has 1 ide HDD and 1 SATA HDD.
The SATA drive is set up as raid0 and is purely used as a data disk. The OS(win xp pro sp1) is on the IDE drive
The only way i could get the SATA HDD recognised by windows, was to set up a raid array with just the 1 disk.
Pretty useless raid array i know.
Did i have to do this or is there a way to have the sata hdd usable without having to set up a raid array
    Thanks

you have to do it for the controller to work
but it has no effect on the drive
you can move a regular drive on ide 3 back to a normal ide and its all fine

  • How can I save Aperture in an external disk?

How can I save Aperture in an external hard disk?
    Thanks,

    In addition to mende1's advice:
The Aperture application should be installed in the "Applications" folder; otherwise software update will not work.
Your Aperture Library can be stored where you want it, but if your Aperture library is referenced (if you are storing your original image files outside the Aperture Library), you will need to use the command "File > Relocate Original" to move the original image files to your external hard drive as well.  Check the "Import panel" in Aperture, how the option "Store Files" in the "Aperture" brick of the import panel is set - "in their current location" or "In the Aperture Library".

  • How can I save captured clips to hard disk using the actual video recorded date, not the date I transferred it?

When using Batch capture in AP5.5, the clips are saved to hard disk using the capture date as the Created Date and Modified Date.  How do I configure Premier to use the actual clips recorded date (Meta Data Basic/Date Created) so that I can view them in Windows folders and other applications based on the date the video was recorded, not when I imported it.

AFAIK, there's no way to do that with Premiere Pro.  You can probably find a utility on the Internet that will change the dates for you after the fact.

  • How can I save a text file to disk from Illustrator ?

    Hi,
I was looking through the Javascript reference and couldn't find anything related to writing strings to a text file on disk.
Is this possible ? If so where should I look ?
Otherwise, can I run a bit of code in Terminal/CommandPrompt from Illustrator (.e.g. echo 'Hello!' >> file.txt) ?

Here's something that I think Muppet Mark or Carlos Canto posted earlier
    #target illustrator
    var textFile = File('~/Desktop/AI.txt');
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var docText = '';
    for (var i = 0; i < doc.textFrames.length; i++)
              docText += doc.textFrames[i].contents + '\r';
    textFile.open('e');
    textFile.write(docText);
    textFile.close();

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR and Serial ATA Drive

I've got a very strange problem....
Yesterday i have installed my new motherboard (MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR) but i have a problem with the SATA feature.
I've got two drives : one 40GB ATA (Western Digital) and one 160GB SATA also from Western Digital.
My SATA drive is recognized by the FastTrak BIOS (v2) but i'm unable to reinstall Windows XP Professional (with SP2 Slipstreamed) because Windows Setup didn't recognize the SATA disk. I have loaded the Promise Serial ATA Drivers at the begin of the installation (F6)...
I have also tried 2 different versions of the Promise SATA Drivers; the one that cames with my motherboard CD, and the most recent from the MSI website. But with both drivers the same result. How can i get my Serial ATA Harddisk get work with this motherboard?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Computerfreakje.
PS : My specifications are the following:
MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR (Rev. 7.4)
    AMD Athlon XP 2500+
    2x 256MB Kingston PC3200 Dual Channel
    ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb (R360)
    Western Digital 40GB ATA
    Western Digital 160GB SATA

    Thanks for your reply Richard,
My motherboard didn't came with a floppy (I have bought an bulk version..) I have created a SATA floppy by myself. (I have got the drivers from the motherboard cd..) These drivers are also good, right?
Which type of RAID Array should i create? Because i have only one SATA drive.....
I think the "auto" feature is the easiest way?
    Thanks.

  • More K7N2 Delta ILSR issues

After resolving many issues I've got with my K7N2 Delta ILSR (I still have no regret because I choose it over Abit or Epox), there are still some problems I could not overcome:
    1. the system cannot resume standby (it goes in S1 or S3, but hangs when resuming before any image appears on monitor)
    2. at a freq when I have stability with default vcore, raising vcore is producing instability (system freeze when running prime95)
    3. system temp reported by mbm -last version- seems high: 48-52 degrees; the proc temp is always 4 degrees -no more, no less- higher
My specs: K7N2 Delta ILSR, Barton 2600@2170Mhz (10.5x206)  cooler master aero 7+,
    4HDD: 2SATA raid 0 Maxtor 120Gb, 1Maxtor 200Gb and 1 WD 80Gb on IDE3 (Lumberjack mooded bios 7.6),  1 DVD-RW Pionner 106D, 1 CD-RW Yamaha F1, 1 CD-RW Plextor 48\24\48,  Hercules Radeon 8500 128Mb ,…, Psu Chieftech 420W (very stable voltages -reported in mbm- when running Prime95 and (or) other killer appz), Thermaltake Xaser III V1000A case

Anybody? I am worried in particulary about the imposibility of resuming from standby... please help

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR - RAID BIOS Option ???

    hi ho,
i have my 2 storage devices pluged into the promise 376 onboard controller. they are not connected as a real raid (not mirror nor real stripe). my OS is win2k on the first sata device and everything was fine for a long time.
but now when my system boots, it detects the ide drives and then i see the irq board.
right after that the system stops and tells me 'disk boot failure'. so i don`t get the chance to configure my raidcontroller or my sata devices.
it is as the controller is deactivated. i remember a bios version where you could activate and deactivate the sata controller. but in my bios (right now it is v7.8) there is no such option.
    i have tested so far:
    - reset cmos
    - flash bios v7.5 to 7.8
    - disconnected sata drives
anyone with similar problems or any suggestion?
    > MoBo : K7N2 Delta-ILSR Bios v7.8
    > CPU   : AMD Barton 2500+ (not overclocked)
    > Ram  : TwinMos 1GB 3200 400Mhz

watch the bottom of the screen after pressing Enter on the "Welcome to Setup" screen. There will be some moments of files being loaded, and then you should see a message appear which says "Press F6 if you need to install a 3rd party SCSI or RAID driver". This message will only stay on the screen for a couple of seconds, so press F6 as soon as you see it appear. After this is done, you will see other messages appear, and it will act as though nothing is happening, but eventually a screen will appear which will allow you to install the drivers for the sata controller.
specify a device press S, select "win 2000 promise fasttrak 376 controller" it will read floppy and load, dot not remove floppy yet, continue win2000 install it may nead to access floppy to finish installing raid driver, did you do it like this.
try making some floppy boot disks and boot to floppy instead of cd.
    http://freepctech.com/pc/002/files010.shtml
when you say there not listed, where did you see this? they wont be listed, windows will search for fasttrak controller so it will see sata's conected to it with out you knowing, so long as you load the controller from floppy that came with mobo as above.

  • K7N2 Delta-ILSR can't get IEEE 1394 working

    My Mainboard K7N2 Delta-ILSR nForce2 Ultra 400 (601-6570-030)
I can't ever remember seeing the onchip 1394 controller settings in Bios.
I do remember seeing it in windows XP before I reflashed the bios to ver 7.6 using Live Update, I have read about problems with the mainboard not likeing the FX5900 Video cards, so I thought I would update the bios to save any problems.
I then re-installed XP and thought nothing of it. Everything was running well intil I wanted to do some video capturing from my camcorder. I then realised that there where no 1394 drivers installed and no controller could be found. I read the manual and it said to set the 1394 controller in Bios to Auto. When I went to Bios there was no onchip 1394 controller shown in the intergrated peripherals or any where else in Bios.
Can someone suggest what to do next please?

    Try the followin steps
Hit the DEL key to go to the BIOS SCREEN
goto  LOAD BIOS SETUP DEFAULTS  and press ENTER
press F10 to save it to BIOS.
NOW  again go to the BIOS  and go to the INTEGRATED PERIPHERALS check out whether there is ONCHIP 1394
    All the Best !

  • K7n2 delter ilsr raid

i have a k7n2 delter ilsr but i seam to be unable to use its raid when i add a harddrive to it keeps saying bios not installed is there anyway in removing it or is there a nack  to as theres nothing in the manuel for it. ???? ?(

    hi
my knowledge of raid is limited
the sata connectors and ide3 is part of raid.
if you add or remove any drive you have to define a new drive array.
when it says no bios it means no drives are connected.
atleast its why i get that message on my promise ultra100 tx2 ide controller card.
you have to push a certain button to get into raid bios.
    bye

  • Data corruption on MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR

    Hi all,
Just got my new MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR up and running.
Got some issues with the memory running at 200mhz while the Barton core of my Athlon Xp 2600+ was running 166mhz, this had to be 1:1 (thx forum  )
While running the default bios settings with cpu/mem at 166/166 fsb everything is stable as hell. I have been running Prime95 for 2 days now and using the system for dvd ripping/encoding, UT2004 gaming etc.
Then the overclocking began   I'm using the standard AMD cooler that came with my boxed Xp2600+ so I didn't expect an FSB of 200mhz.
I stopped at an FSB of 190mhz...been crunching Prime95 for 18 hours now and again very stable.
Now comes the problem : Sometimes I get crc errors when installing a game or decrypting a dvd!! But how can this be? Prime95 is stable at this 190fsb overclock.
When using an FSB of 166mhz no data corruption or crc errors.
What can this be? It's not the cables because they're all the same as in my old setup which was running (ahum...walking) stable. PCI/AGP speeds are locked when overclocking...
Only thing I can think of is the power supply. I've read in a warning post from Bas that the Q-Tec 550w psu I have is crap. So my guess is PSU, but maybe it's something else I'm forgetting...Any suggestions??
The stupid thing is when I'm not overclocking I don't have the data corruption problems, but I'm still using the same crappy Q-Tec 550w PSU.
    Help!
    gr,
    Remco

Hmmm, that's curious. On the MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR product page Kingston memory is recommended
Ok, did a Memtest86 v1.11 pass at cpu/dimm 166/166 - no problems whatsoever. I think using Prime95 would have revealed memory problems...but will do another pass with cpu/dimm at 190/190.
Can overclocking affect the Promise Raid Controller?? It should be locked like the PCI/AGP but who knows...
Well, I still have to replace my PSU but I'm not 100% sure that this is the problem. What PSU would you recommend? ...and I'm also thinking about replacing the standard CPU cooler, any advice is welcome

  • HELP me with my K7N2 delta ilsr

Can anyone help me with this problem. I have just upgraded to MSI's K7N2 delta ilsr motherboard. Its all working quite well apart from the fact that the pc wont start up from cold....at all.
When I start the pc from an off state, it runs up the fans and drives, but does not post.
The diagnostic led pannel on the back of the pc shows that the cpu is faulty or not installed correctly.
If I then press the reset button, the pc posts, and boots up just fine.
It does this EVERY time I start up.
I have tried re installing the cpu, which is an XP 2800+ 333 barton, but to no avail.
I have asked a few questions on other forums, but I cant solve it.
These are the suggestions so far.
    1. the psu (I have a Tsunami 400 atx psu) could not be giving out enough power on initial startup, but once the pc is running, it has enough to boot the pc from a reset.
    2. The mobo or the bios could be at fault. I have not flashed the bios, or upgraded it in any way from original, so is there an issue with the original bios on these boards, and 2800 barton chips??? Could it be a mobo fault? The pc runs fine once the machine is booted.? how do I test it?
    3. The cpu could be faulty? but would this not stop it running fuull stop?
    4. my ram. I have a single stick of OCZ 512mb pc3200 ddr, which I was told would make the pc fly. Not shure on that statement, but is this ram compatible?? could this be the problem?
Im fairly new to the upgrade side of things, and I need some help with this one.
Also, Id be really greatfull if some one could talk me through flashing my bios to the latest version, as the thought of doing this narks me a bit...I dont want to mess it up and get a dead pc...
    HELP

    +5v 28A
    +12v 16A
    +5vsb 2A

Hope this helps, as my pc seems to be living with its case off a lot these days..haha

  • K7N2 Delta-ILSR BSOD

    Hi
    MSI Nforce K7N2 Delta-ILSR
    Bios V1016
    Antec True380SPGB True Power 380w
    AMD Athlon XP2800+
    2x512mb Crucial DDR
    1xSATA HDD
    Abit Siluro GF4 Ti4200
I've installed 1 SATA onto the onboard Raid controller, but I keep getting BSOD when either playing a game or watching avi's.  The 0x00000000 message is disappearing too quickly to right down but is saying windows was shut down to prevent damage to the hardware.
Will the K7N2 Delta-ILSR Promise controller work with just one SATA hdd connected, I know that the silicon image controller on my Asus A7N8X-E will support just one SATA connected but will the promise chipset.
I've updated all the drivers but the dreaded BSOD keeps happening.
If it won't it not's a major problem as I do have a PCI sata controller card I can install.
Or are there any issues with the above graphics card and the MSI mobo?
    Thanks for any help.

Yep I've created a array with the single SATA and got Windows installed.
I've also changed the memory settings so they are now 1:1 with the FSB.
I've also altered the advance settings so I'll be able to write down the full 0X00000000 string.
Just set net access up via my PC and got this error report from M$
    Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078)
Error Caused by Graphics Device Driver
Thank you for submitting an error report. Microsoft is unable to determine what specifically caused the problem you reported. To troubleshoot the problem, please see the information listed below.
    Analysis
A device driver installed on your computer caused the problem, but we cannot determine the precise cause. Depending on which situation is applicable to you, please do one of the following:
        * If you are running Windows Server 2003 you may experience crashes if you have adjusted the Hardware Acceleration setting. Microsoft recommends that you set the Hardware Acceleration setting to None for server systems. To check your Hardware Acceleration setting, go to the Advanced section of the display properties dialog box.
        * If you know the manufacturer of the device, contact the manufacturer's product support service for assistance.
        * If you don't know the driver's manufacturer and need help diagnosing and resolving this problem, contact your computer manufacturer's product support service.
        * Updated drivers might be available on the Microsoft Windows Update website.         * For information about Microsoft support options, visit Microsoft Product Support Services.
I've downloaded the current graphics card drivers from Abit and I'll install them and see what happens.
I've also adjusted the AGP in the bios from 64mb to 128mb.

  • K7N2 Delta ILSR won't boot from FDD or HD

I have a serious problem with my new K7N2 delta ILSR based computer.
    My machine is
    K7N2 delta ILSR 400W
    3.3/25 5/32 12/15 V/A PSU
    512+256 MB A-data 3200 ram
    Athlon XP2500+
    BTC 48x24x48 Combo
    100 mb Zip int. -disabled
    120 GB Seagate barracuda SATA-disabled
    120 GB Seagate Barracuda parallel
    Triplex parasouls ATI 9600PRO 128MB
The machine POST's normally with all 4 lights doing what they should.
The Promise BIOS can detect the SATA drive correctly but when an attempt is made to write the array an error- 'error modifying array- system is going to reboot- press any key to reboot>" is given.
The M/B BIOS detects the FDD and Seagate Parallel drives correctly but when a correctly formatted XP boot disc (or Mandrake Linux or Caldera DR-DOS) is placed in the floppy drive a "no system disk" error is given.
When you F6 to install RAID drivers in the Windows XP install and the screen comes up where you are prompted to insert the floppy there is no mass storage device detected.
I purchased a new FDD and it gives precisely the same error as the original.
I installed the parallel Seagate in another system and installed and activated windows XP on it. After re-installing it in the K7N2 system I was disappointed to discover that it will not boot off the hard drive. When you boot from the XP CD the machine locks up. (Disconnecting the HD it will boot normally)
This is a real puzzle as it is possible to format the hard drive using Max Blast3- the maxtor disk utility which is based ( as is the Seagate Seatools utility) on Caldera DR-DOS). And I can't see why it should boot from a CD-ROM and not from any other correctly formatted boot disk.
I suspect a problem in either the (South?) bridge that controls the peripherals or the BIOS. I am at a loss how to re-flash the BIOS with out the use of the floppy drive- unless this can be done from a CD-ROM.
The PSU is not being strained and nForce list both RAM sticks as OK.

The Fd light behaves normally. i.e. lights up when the drive is being accessed.
has anybody else noted that the FDD is B by default- That the cables have a few wires twisted like the wires between the first and second plugs on the old cables?
The IDE 80 wire(counted!) is long end in the board- my plugs are all 3 black. You can't put them in the wrong way becaue of the centre key.
All the stands are plastic except for two brass ones that are in the centre of the board that go to circular mount pads. That is how the case came and I thought it was a design feature.
The thing I find most puzzleing is that i can boot a caldera based system that finds everything including the floppy- and read it- (provided you call it drive B!) yet naything DOS based won't go- I have this feeling that it has a screwed up DOS call that is not looking in the right disk sector for NTldr or whatever to boot. I think this is a bios problem- but I am not sure how to find out when you can't boot from the FDD.
My brother has talked to some tech friends and there word is that this is a weird one- probably a dud board RTS.
