RAID disappearing after binding to Directory Service
We have an Xserve (late 2006) with Leopard Server. I built and RAID 1. After binding this server to a directory service, master running on a 10.7.5 server (Mac mini) the RAID is disappearing. If I click on the volume I get an error -1407.
After unbinding the Xserve from DS and mounting the RAID with disk utility everything is fine again.
Background:
Want to use the RAID on the Xserve for homes and group directories of the users.
Please help, I don't know what to do further....
Thanks in advance
Jens
Had to unbind from AD. and just log on locally.

After software update cant start Open Directory service
updated to 10.7.4 and cannot turn on my Open Directory service in Server Admin.
It's there, but says it is stopped, and it won'y start.
After reboot it is still the same.Well, I had an Apple tech guy here. We were perplexed, because there was no way to salvage the old settings. It was always grayed out. Lucky for me I was deleting 2 semesters of students anyway, so we just started a new setup, and it's back up and running.
There is that Export Open Directory DataBase that I only noticed now.
From now on it would be wise to backup the database just in case.

Active Directory Services Can't Connect to Domain
I removed Active Directory services form a server running 2012. I then went to reinstall and reconfigure it, but I keep running into issues. When I launch active directory admin center it gives me an error that it can't connect to any domain, and I can't
make any changes. The local server has already been promoted to the domain controller. Here is the output from dcdiag:

I've been trying to debug errors one at a time, but I'm having a hard time finding any information that pertains to this issue as a whole. Anything you can tell me about this would be great, thank you for reading.It was the only server in the network, the only dc in the old forest. When I re-installed ad ds I gave the new forest different name, but I guess the old settings are still in the system somewhere conflicting with the new setup? Is there a way to
purge the old setup entirely and start over with ad ds, or am I going to have to re-install the whole OS? Thanks again for the help.
Honestly, the best way to handle this is to rebuild the server. There are many things that are "left behind" when you remove the Domain / Forest from a Domain Controller. In fact many articles will say after using ADMT (active directory migration
tool) you should decommission the original Domain Controller (aka reinstall the OS).
While you could spend more time trying to get that domain controller working, it absolutely is going to be 1) More reliable 2) faster to reinstall the OS on the old domain controller. If you are still leveraging storage, or services on that domain controller,
you will want to back them up, or have a transition plan before reinstalling everything on the server. I have a feeling if you choose to keep troubleshooting this, you will run into more issues down the road.

Problem in configuring MS Win2003 AD as a Directory Service
I am trying to configure MS Windows Server 2003 Active Directory as a Directory Service for Sun ONE Web Server 6.1
I have made the following configuration at the Global Settings Page of the Administration Server :
Directory Service ID : default
Host Name : myhost.mydomain.mycountry
Port : 389
Use Secure
Sockets Layer (SSL)
for connections? : No
Base DN : DC=mydomain,DC=mycountry
Bind DN : CN=myuser,CN=Users,DC=mydomain,DC=mycountry
Bind Password : mypassword
Whatever I am trying to do at the Users and Groups Page of the Administration Server I am getting the following message :
An error occurred while contacting the LDAP server.
(Can't connect to the LDAP server)
A connection to the directory server could not be opened. Contact your directory server administrator for assistance.
The user myuser is member of the Administrators Group.
I log on to the Sun ONE Web Server 6.1 as myuser.
I know that Base DN and Bind DN are correct because I use them with Microsoft's LDP Tool. I don't know if the user lacks any privilege (although he is a member of the Administrators) or if I have to configure something else from the Administration Server.
Any help on this problem would be appreciated very much.
Thanks in advanceHi
Are you able to use ACL (ACE's) in iPlanet after integrating ADS?. userId field is empty. How are you actually using this iPlanet integration with ADS in your application/in your company.?
Thanks!

UCCX 8.0.2. HA unable to manualy sinchronize directory Services
Good morning,
We have an agent that exists as a Call Manager user with an IPCC extension, the same user shows up in RMCM under de UCCX 8.0.2, but he is unable to log in to CAD with error "ID introuvable" (ID NOT FOUND). When we look in the Desktop administrator, we notice the user is missing. When we try to initiate a manual directory services synck, we instantly get the error "CDAUI2082 At least one error has occured during the manual synchronization of directory services. Contact Technical Support"
We found BUG ID CSCtd94036 , no luck after increasing the timeout value to even 120s.We restarted both UCCX with no change in behavior. IF you remove the IPCC extension in the end users of CUCM, the user becomes a unactive agent instantly and if you go give the IPCC extension he is back in RMCM, but never shows up in Desktop administrator.
Anybody knows of a fix, or necessary debugs to gather before we go to TAC on this ?
Thanks.here are some few interesting debug I gathered. means anything to anyone?

How to create new connection in directory service manager
Hello,
I have upgraded OID from 10.1.4.3 to 11.1.1.6. after upgrade i used below url to connect directory service manager.
http://hosname:7005/odsm
trying to create new connection but not able to connect getting below error
"Bind Failed. Host='dog1044' Details : dog1044:3060"
using below value while creating new connection
select OID
Name : 11goid
server : oidserver01
port : 3060
username : cn=orcladmin
Thanks
Karthick KKarthick,
Or try to bind it from your ODSM server, eg: ldapbind -h oidserver01 -p 3060 -D "cn=orcladmin" -w xpto
I hope this helps,

Unable to print from MS Word: "The Directory Service is currently unavailable"
Hi! I hope you can help me. Please note that I have a Windows XP computer (Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3, 32-bit). When I initially installed a Brother printer (model# MFC-J475DW) in Dec 2013, I had no problems printing documents. My problems
started about 2 days ago. I got an error message after I opened a MS Word document (.doc) and clicked the Print button to print a document. The Printer "Name" field was empty. I clicked the dropdown box in that window and saw 3 options:
1 - Brother MFC-J475DW Printer
2 - Brother PC-FAX v.3.2
3 - PaperPort Image Printer
When I selected "Brother MFC-J475DW Printer," a Microsoft Word dialog box appeared, saying the following:
"The printer has not yet responded, but the Microsoft Office program may be able to proceed without printer information. Do you want to continue to wait for the printer?"
I can either click on a Yes button or a No button. Either way, I'm brought back to the Print page. When I click on the OK button to start printing, another error message appears:
"Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup. Try one or more of the following:
*Check the printer by printing a test page from Windows.
*Make sure the printer is turned on and online.
*Reinstall the printer driver."
I have a choice to click either OK or Web Help. I click the OK button to close the box, then return to the Print page. When I click on the "Find Printer..." button, the Find Printers window appears for a moment, then is replaced by this error message:
"The Directory Service is currently unavailable"
On Friday (Mar 21), when the error first occurred, I was able to print a letter in MS Word after un- and re-installing the Brother printer and its drivers. The problem reappeared the next day (Saturday). I don't want to do that every time to print a single
page, so would you please recommend a solution?
By the way, I am able to print a test page from the printer in Control Panel, and I can print from a Notepad document. Also, when I go to the Control Panel, select "Printers and Faxes," then right-click on the printer (Brother MFC-J475DW Printer),
then select the Ports page, there's a check mark next to USB001 (not LPT1 or COM1). When I click on the "Configure Port..." button, I get this error message:
"An error occurred during port configuration. This operation is not supported."
Earlier today, I got a reply from brother.com's tech support (thanks to the 1 year warranty). They said the problem is on my PC, not their printer. However, they provided links to completely uninstall the printer, then reinstall it. I did just that, but
the problem persists. I'll download OpenOffice.org's Office Suite to see if I can print documents with their software instead of MS Word. Until then, I await any suggestions.
I hope this info is helpful. Thanks in advance for your help.I downloaded OpenOffice and am able to print documents (in particular, the same document I created in MS Word). I guess MS Word is to blame. I believe the issue is concluded, but I'd welcome any comments about the Active Directory, as I might have a problem
with OpenOffice in the future regarding that. -

it would be a great help
ashishHi,
we're having exactly the same problem.
Could you tell me what the problem is with the network ?
You say configure it properly but what do you mean ?
It's installed on a Windows 2000 Server machine, it's own DNS.
Thanks,

Not sure when this started happening since I haven't had to update or create a new RunAs account in VMM in some time, but every time I do, either through the console or through PowerShell it throws an error about The specified directory service attribute

I am hoping someone has some ideas because I don't have any more at this point.

DNS The Zone cannot be deleted - the active directory service is not available
Hello TechNet Members,
As you can see from the Summery, I got this message when I'm trying to delete DNS Zone.
It's not matter if the DNS Zone newly created or its an Old One.
After this message the computer is telling you "The Computer is about to make Restart".
It's so strange and i really don't know what to check first.
More Information:
5 Servers that Replicate together.
The Operation System is Windows Server 2012R2 for all the entire DC's
1 Domain In the Forest.
Thanks,Hi Jesper,
DCdiag /fix and no errors in there everything marked as PASSED.
I did Demotion for one of the DC to troubleshoot, but with no luck i'm back to the same point i started
I tried to delete the brand new Zone from the commandline using DNScmd it's still not working and the computer is reboot himslef.
I've checked the permissions from the ADSIEdit.msc:
Inherit from MicrosoftDNS section to the ROOT
DNSAdmins > Full Control
Domain Admins > Full Control
From "DNS Server" section at the EventViewer
The DNS server is waiting for Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) to signal that the initial synchronization of the directory has been completed. The DNS server service cannot start until the initial synchronization is complete because critical DNS
data might not yet be replicated onto this domain controller. If events in the AD DS event log indicate that there is a problem with DNS name resolution, consider adding the IP address of another DNS server for this domain to the DNS server list in the Internet
Protocol properties of this computer. This event will be logged every two minutes until AD DS has signaled that the initial synchronization has successfully completed.
"The DNS server was unable to complete directory service enumeration of zone TestZone1. This DNS server is configured to use information obtained from Active Directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the Active
Directory is functioning properly and repeat enumeration of the zone. The extended error debug information (which may be empty) is "". The event data contains the error. "
The DNS server has encountered a critical error from the Active Directory. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly. The extended error debug information (which may be empty) is "". The event data contains the error.

What is "Directory Service" and why does it "use up 194%" ?
What is "Directory Service" and why does it "use up 194%" on my istat CPU app monitor?
Ever since I installed Leopard I've noticed this happening more and more - especially when I install an external hard drive or unplug my ethernet line - this is plainly weird and never happened under Tiger - the temperature shoots up to 84° also - I always to a restart to get rid of it but it's kind of worrying....anybody have any ideas?
Message was edited by: HostHad this happen myself.
It does have something to do with Spotlight/searching. Should go away after a while, or so I have heard from other users, 'cause it hasn't stopped driving me and my fan mad yet.
Am going to have my MacBook index and follow-up on indexing and whatever else it feels is necessary to finally allow me to search in peace over the weekend while locking it away where I can't hear it.
Hopefully that does the trick.
If it wasn't for things working better/faster and most things looking better I might actually consider taking Leopard off again ... -
Creative Cloud App installer disappears after "Initialising Installer" stage
I recently had to reboot my laptop to its settings for 4 days ago, and ever since then I cannot seem to download CC app at all.
I don't even get an error message, the installer just disappears after the Initialising Installer stage.
I have tried using the uninstaller tool, but when I try to reinstall the same thing happens.
This is very frustrating. I did not expect to have to pay for the CS6 products and to not be able to download the software itself.
I pay monthly for this service and the more days I go unable to download the software seems frankly a waste of my money.
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.For Windows :
Open C:drive and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe.
Open Adobe folder and delete folders named Adobe Application Manager and OOBE.
Important :
Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe.
Open Adobe folder and if present delete Adobe Creative Cloud folder.
Then try to install Creative Cloud desktop application. -
the burn cds software has disappeared after loading 10.5, itunes 10.5 wont let me burn cds
Thanks for trying Toonz, but unfortunately no success yet. I updated my driver but still get an error message. The interesting thing is I have windows XP (not Windows 2000), so I unchecked a box someone else suggested that I try to check. Here are my latest diagnostics:

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

No Results after executing Adaptive Web Service
Hello experts,
I develope Web Dynpro applications and currently try to consume a web service from our ERP system but I get no results from the service. When trying to consume the service with a soap-tool or with .NET, everything works fine.
The Web Service was generated on an already available RFC.
The service has one input parameter, which is a department name. The output should be all employees, which work in the consigned department.
For consuming the service I created a Web Service Destination in the Visual Administrator ([see this blog|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs;jsessionid=%28J2EE3417100%29ID0139461950DB10406225565548708901End?blog=/pub/wlg/5186]).
After creating the Destination I imported the service as an adaptive web service model in my web dynpro project.
After binding the model to the component controller I implemented the following code in the controller:
public void wdDoInit()
model = new Z_WF_DEPARTMENT_OIC();
Request_ZWfDepartmentOic requestMO = new Request_ZWfDepartmentOic(model);
ZWfDepartmentOic departmentMO = new ZWfDepartmentOic(model);
requestMO.setZWfDepartmentOic(departmentMO);
wdContext.nodeRequest_ZWfDepartmentOic().bind(requestMO);
public void executeRequest_ZWfDepartmentOic( )
try{
wdContext.currentRequest_ZWfDepartmentOicElement().modelObject().execute();
wdContext.nodeResponse().invalidate();
} catch (Exception e) {
wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException(e.toString(),false);
I did the implementation as descibed in the following document:
[http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/900bbf94-a7a8-2910-e298-a651b4706c1e&overridelayout=true]
On the UI I have one input field for the department name and a table which should show the result and one table which shows messages which are returned by the web service.
After executing the code, I get no result from the service. In my table with the messages I get one entry which just shows zeros in the fields "LogMsgNo" and "Number".
Does anybody have a hint, what could be wrong with my proceeding?
Edited by: Dennis Isaak on Oct 16, 2009 10:37 AMCheck this blog post:
http://www.drflex.eu/2008/06/dynamically-populate-dropdown-lists-using-webservices/
This comfirms that after you execute a web service, the Drop-Down List fields will become empty due to remerge operation. Well, I have to issue a remerge, otherwise, the PDF will not be populated properly.

One for Tim Harris: iChat and Directory Services
Hi Tim or anyone else that know the answer,
I have a thread in iChat 3's forum http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2589810
The Poster is using an iChat server and has "several thousand" contacts listed in Directory Services.
What he wants to do and has been doing on a one by one basis is have the "real Name" details show in his iChat.
Currently he is using the Add Buddy Card and the Address Book Arrow to access the Address Book then he navigates to the Directory Services Entry for that person.
1) Is there a method of making iChat see the info in Directory Services ?
2) Without creating a Address Book with thousands of entries is there a quick and easy method to get those Buddies in his iChat connected to the info in the Directory Services other than the method he is doing ?
(AppleScript, Automator or similar).
3) Am I barking up completely the wrong tree ?
7:52 PM Thursday; September 23, 2010Closing as there is another thread.

Please, if posting Logs, do not post any Log info after the line "Binary Images for iChat"
