RAID not loading up?
Hello,
On Thursday, I upgraded my op to Tiger 10.4.4 from Panther and then installed the new universal FCP Studio software package. Until then, we had no problems with our Huge Systems SCCI RAID drive. Now, the drive won't even load up upon clicking on its icon on the desktop. What do I need to do to fix this issue? Is it a FCP Studio issue? A Tiger issue? O something else?
Thanks,
Jordan
I assume you are using an ATTO SCSI HBS, like a UL4D. Go to the ATTO Tech website and look in the Support section for drivers and software.
http://www.attotech.com/
You'll need to download the latest driver for Tiger, as well as the Configuration Utility. You might download the Flash files as well.
Then, start by installing the Config utility, then flash the firmware on the card. Finally, install the driver. You do all that with the SCSI cables disconnected from the SCSI card.
Then shut down, reconnect the SCSI cables, and boot up again.
Please report back.

On my Mac Pro, early 2008 2 x 2.8GHz Quad Core 10.7.5, replaced 4 x 500ghds with 4 x 3Tb. The Raid card Raid 5ed them OK but can not load time machine back up as it does not see any of the 4 drives, neither does disc utilities, any thoughts?
You don't see drives when using a hardware RAID only the volumes.
WD Green are not suitable for hardware RAID (or software RAID for that matter).
USB2 and TimeMachine are a disaster waiting to happen. I've used SATA (internal) and eSATA (using SATA PCIe cards) trouble-free.
I can't say I begin to understand your use or "choosing the install drive for the backup"
Install what?
You don't load TimeMachine. Maybe seems minor but that is not how to describe the behavior of software.

WinPE Marvell RAID Controller not loading
I am having problems with our Marvell SAS Controllers not loading in WinPE on Lenovo D20 and D30. I have added what I suspect to be the correct drivers for the controller in my boot image.
You could test that you have the correct driver by doing the following steps:
Download the appropriate driver from the vendor's site, make sure to get the correct architecture (x86 or x64, depending which WinPE -image are you using)
Copy the driver (the .inf file) to USB-stick (or burn it to CD/DVD)
Enable command line support for your boot image from the ConfigMgr -console
Deploy task sequence using your boot image to the machine in case (make sure you have the SAS controller configured and disks behind it)
When the WinPE boots up, hit F8 to open up command line, you can stop the task sequence progress in the background at this time
Check with diskpart are there any disks connected (diskpart -> list disk)
If there are not any disks, try loading the driver (.inf -file) for your controller by running
drvload driverfilename.inf
Check with diskpart does the disk show up now (diskpart -> list disk) -
Adobe flash will not load - gives only a black screen
For all the (3) users on this computer. For most browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) The browser window goes 100% BLACK when a flash program link is opened and most of the time the cursor / Pointer freezes (occasionally disappears and all keyboard actions are blocked. Have to force quit or kill the box with the power key (which always bothers me.) No Adobe links work directly via the link in mail or in browser. Symptom in Mail is either the original window goes BLACK or a separate window opens in Black.
Current OS X 10.9.3 (13D65), Memory 4GB on 2.4 GHz Intel core i7 in MacBook Pro 15" Late 2011.
Relevant?? Items:
1. The Adobe company checking device says Flash is not loaded. I have had flash 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13 working before the latest of OS X upgrades were made.
2. An aside, I recently (4 months ago) used a MacKeeper app. Today (not used except for information gathering) the "System Scan says my ProtectMac anti-virus is active and no security problems noted. Also noted was "Serious" issue relating to one of 128 issues (474.3 MB of 'junk' files-36.9 MB in 'Logs", 437.4 MB in Caches.) "Performance" listed as 'Fast.' No action is taken and System Scan app closed.
3. I seem to have lost my copy of Flash 13 in the Applications folder and the install file tries to load "AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_14_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg"
This makes sense as to item 1. above.
4. Another user loaded adobe flash 11 from a download file called, "AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_11au_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg." I do not understand the meaning of the part of the file name that reads "_11au_" as it seem to differ from other downloads for "_11eu_". Additionally the copy retained is filed in history and had only the user permissions of one user. Also that copy _11au_ has no mention of Browser Type in the name description of the .dmg file; but the "_11eu_" does mention Safari browser. Since it was from July 8, 2013 I assume it doesn't matter and it should have been superseded by Flash 12 OSX. Mentioned here only for interest. Also, It may have been saved on this computer in case of rebuild for another user on the home network running 13" MacBook Pro 10.6 Leopard.
5. Attempts to reload Flash 13 from 'AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_13au_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg' as the "Adobe Flash Player Installer" connects to the latest version not yet installed and keeps downloading the Flash 14, which fails and locks up the browser.
6. The download from get,Adobe.com starts out O.K. After the installer file.dmg completes well, Step 2. is to open it, that, too, works well with an open window of a mounted device on the desktop. The next step is to double-click the icon. That only works so far. A window opens and it has a progress thermometer but it never downloads any product and the link is declared "unavailable" immediately. Refuses to load and will not always give the pointer back or let the browser continue.
7. While creating this 'Summary' something changed. Using Spotlight I found a different version of Flash Installer on my Mac. I clicked it to go to the Black screen after installer download competes and got a totally different response. I was set to take snapshots of the windows as they progressed. The ".dmg" Icon on the desktop changed from default plain white disk to the red "Flash Player" I had not seen for last 40 days.

Everything went normally and loaded but I cannot test it as all browsers were closed. Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2. -
[Regression] KDE4 does not load anymore after recent kernel update.
Hi,
I have updated my system to latest packages and now KDE4 does not load. i get a Blank Screen.
I can't reach virtual terminals(I tried ALT+F1 to F11, but no response)
Control + ALT + BACKSPACE does not work.
even magic SysRq key(Alt+SysRq+REISUB) has no effect.
So I had to hard reset my machine. somehow I managed to get logs.

Preferences error - could not load displays preference pane
My screen resolution changed during game play. Now that the game is off, I cant change it back. This is what the error message says "Preferences Error - Could not load Displays preference pane."
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this.
Safari not loading page properly
Hi all,
I have a fairly specific problem with Safari (8.0.3 on OS X 10.10.2) in that the Stripe login page does not load properly for me. All I see when I go here is basic HTML: http://dashboard.stripe.com/login
In terms of troubleshooting, I have tried the following
Disabled Extensions
Disabled plugins
Emptied Caches
Cleared cookies and other website data
I then decided to create a new user on my Mac to see what would happen. In the new user's Safari, the page loads exactly as it should.
So, my question is, what else can I do to troubleshoot this? Have I missed something?
Cheers,
PeteBack up all data before proceeding.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select
▹ Force Quit…
from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.Safari
Caches/com.apple.Safari.SearchHelper
Caches/com.apple.SafariServices
Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
Caches/com.apple.WebProcess
Caches/Metadata/Safari
Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If the problem is solved, stop here. Close the Library folder. If you still have a problem, continue.
Step 2
Restart the computer in safe mode. Certain caches maintained by the system will be rebuilt.
Safe mode is much slower to start up than normal.
When the login screen appears, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
Step 3
If Safari still doesn’t work, quit, go back to the Finder, and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (again, some may not exist):
Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
Internet Plug-Ins
Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Safari.*.plist
Preferences/com.apple.Safari.Extensions.plist
Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
PubSub/Database
Safari
SyncedPreferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Here, "*" stands for a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes.
Note 1: You are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”
Note 2: This step will remove your Safari extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to reinstall them, do so one at a time, testing each time to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
Try again. Your settings and bookmarks will be lost. The default set of bookmarks will be restored. Delete them all.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select
File ▹ Import Bookmarks...
from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in Step 1. Stop here and post again.
If you don’t like the results of the last step, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place. -

When i open up safari, it will not load anything and the color wheel spins as long as safari is open. Not sure what to do.

Most internet pages will not load.
Mac OSX 10.9.4 using ATT Uverse and an Apple Time Capsule. I started noticing my web browser would load pages slowly. Then yesterday the web browsers (both Safari and Firefox) stopped almost all web pages from loading. I will search a topic on Google, (I also tried yahoo with the same issues) the list of search results will load like normal. I click on a web page link and nothing. The unopened page just hangs up and will not load. If I type a direct URL in example: www.att.com it seems to work without issues.
All other devices in my home on the same network, work 100% fine. It's just my Mac's search engines. I completely deleted my antivirus and still no help. Possible Malware?
Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please read this whole message before doing anything.

Hi everyone.
I recently erased and reinstalled Yosemite on my iMac 27 (model late 2013). After I reinstalled everything i've noticed that when it goes to sleep/nap and when I come back to it and open the browser (safari) it will not load. I have to restart the whole iMac for it to work. I've erased and reinstalled again and I still have the same issues. Can anybody help? Please read this whole message before doing anything.

The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

My issues is with multiple websites. Buttons do not work, pages do not load completly or the graphics are not visible. I need to use another browser such as FIrefox or Chrome.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.

MSI 787-G46 slowly boot and not load DVD drive after bios 1.6 beta2
I used bios version 1.5 without any problem. Now I loaded bios version 1.6 beta2 and when the PC starts at the lower right corner of the screen appeared the letters A2 for about 10 seconds, which was not. So I gave back 1.5 bios and the problem persists. I also found that it has the effect that the system does not load DVD drive.

In the new bios 1.6 beta 2 added item: Patch SATA driver detection issue and add item to control.
I do not know where it's set in bios, can not do this problem?
I was having similar issues with this bios after enabling RAID the hard drive BBS listed my drives multiple times and wont let you change the order, also trying to boot to the operating system would just display some EFI shell. I can only assume we will need to wait on another release for a fix.

K9N2 Diamond Will Not Load Os XP
K9N2 Diamond has 2 hard drives installed on sata ports 5 & 6, Western Digital WD2500AAKS 250GB Raid 0. I want these for my boot drive & are setup in bios as boot drive so I canload windows XP SP3. Now on sata 1 & 2. I have 2 WD1001FALS 1TB as raid 1. I tried to install XP by booting to lite-on dvdrw. MSI website has nvraid drivers but are too large for a floppy disk and don't know which files to choose, No instructions telling which files to use, root folder files or disk 1 or disk 2 files for floppy. I tried them all and they didn't work. I went to nvidia website and downloaded drivers from there and they did fit on floppy and they did load. I loaded both files after prompted to press F6. Windows started loading, found drives and selected drives on sata 5 & 6, raid 0 stripe. Windows formatted ntfs and started loading files but when it tried to boot but when it tried to copy the file NVGTS.EXE it stopped loading and it couldn't find NVGTS.EXE on the floppy or the system after it found them earlier but and couldn't even point it to the file and find it so I had to skip it and went on to the next one and it couldn't find any of the files on the floppy. So Slip-Streamed the drivers onto my xp installation disk, then tried to load. It went further this time but when the system booted from windows for the first time it went into protection blue screen right as the XP scrolling bar is seen. I tried everything from turning off all other devices and disconnecting them but XP would not load. So I loaded PX on IDE 1 with maxtor 40gb drive and it worked on the 40pin IDE. I updated bios to V 1.2 and loaded all the drivers. and its working now but I bought this board to use raid 0 for speed as my boot drive on sata 5 & 6. It seems the board or the drivers are bad. I want to set it up like this; A floppy,Zip 250, 3 DVDRW, Raid 1 Mirror with 2 300GB Maxtor Drives on sata 3 & 4, Raid 1 Mirror with 2 1TB Western Digital Drives on sata 1 & 2 and Raid 0 Stripe with 2 Western Digital 250GB on sata 5 & 6 for booting XP OS. Also I don't know what memory slots to use for dual channel, the manual is not clear here, do I use 1+3 or 1+2.
Please help someone! And sorry for the last post...I just pasted from word not thinking. Been along day.>>Please read and comply with the Forum Rules.<<

Safari Not Loading Selected Sites
Safari is not loading few sites and if it does (like Facebook/Twitter/BBC/Flipkart/Amazon), it is very slow and it turns out to be like the screenshot attached. But opens banking sites, apple.com and other sites absolutely fine (snapdeal.com)
1. Checked and changed the DNS once.
2. Restarted the WiFi router and my Macbook Air.
3. Checked the Firewall & Gatekeeper settings
