RAID stuck on Verifying

After a series of misfortunes that began with a power outage, I was copying a bunch of data off the left side of our RAID (it's directly connected to an Xserve) and it locked up during the copy. When I restarted the Xserve, the RAID volume was no longer showing on the desktop.
I started running a Verify Data on the RAID and now it stopped at 88% and I'm not sure what actions to take. There are no activity LEDs blinking and it just seems to be hanging there.
Is it safe (or even possible) to shutdown the system gracefully using RAID admin or what should I do now?
Thanks!

So after getting some advice from my Apple rep, I went ahead and shut down the Xserve RAID and lo-and-behold, when everything came back up, it seems to be working fine.
I'm still a bit concerned about the freeze during verification, but I'm at least able to access the data now.

  • Face Time stuck in verifying ....running  Mavericks 10.9.5

Hi, My macbook early 2009 running 10.9.5 Mavricks is unable to run Face Time. After I enter my apple id & password, it gets stuck in Verifying....mode & after a while it pretends I need to log in from scartch.......please help!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Don't post any more log extracts; just test. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

My iPad 2 is stuck in verify update after updating to 8.1.3. Tried pushing buttons and holding. No luck

How many times did you try the reset? Sometimes, it can take more than one reset, especially with these kinds of issues. Try multiple times. Note that you need to hold both buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen. This can sometimes take 15-30 seconds.
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

  • My Ipod is stuck on verifying and I cannot get it to sync.

I have an Ipod Touch 3rd gen, 32GB, and when i plug it into my computer to sync it, it freezes my iTunes and is stuck on 'Verifying "My iPod". I looked up ways to fix this and none have worked.
I've tried reseting my iPod and restarting my computer.
I've tried completely uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it.
I've tried resetting the sync history.
I really don't want to completely restore my iPod because of all the songs and apps on it.
Also i tried turning off auto-sync. I clicked the button that said "Prevent iPod, iPhone, and iPads from automatically syncing". yet my iPod still automatically syncs.
    I am using iTunes 10.4.1
    Need help please, thank you

See a solution for Windows 7 and similarly Windows XP from Jerry at: iTunes for windows - App Store's blank page - final solution
    1. Fixed the itunes store window.
    2. Also fixed the backup/sync problem.
    3. Even solved the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe high cpu problem.
Please reply after trying Jerry's fix.

    Hi there,
I am trying to upgrade to Tiger from OS10.3.9. I have repaired the disk permissions. Each time I try to install Tiger, it gets stuck at "Verifying Disk Volume". hai clara,
the issue is coz the drive on which ur trying to install has some issues .
    please goto the article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=13628
in most of the cases u would try some third party disk utility like disk warrior and noton disk utility to repair the disk .
then u need to run disk utility from the TIGER disk .
    follow the article
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
    to repair the disc .
or else u can back up the data on ur HDD and then u need to do an erase and install of TIGER

  • Iphone 3G updates stuck on "verifying iPhone software"

hello- i have talked to the iphone telephone support and have not gotten this solved. i was using an ATT aircard to connect to the internet to download the new 2.2 update. the update has been stuck on "verifying iPhone software" for over 6 hrs. the apple tech support said the aircard connection cannot be used and to go to a highspeed wireless site and try it. i have done that and it is still on that same "verifying iPhone software" step for an hr and a half. the tech support said it would take some time, but should it take this long?
does anyone know if that is true that the ATT aircard cannot be used for updating?
also, does anyone know how long it should take on the "verifying iPhone software" step?
    help me please.

About 15 minutes, tops. If you are using an aircard choose to download the update separately, then install it after it is on your computer.

  • My iPhone 5 is stuck on "verifying update" lock screen

I was updating my iPhone to iOS 8.1.1, but it failed verification and now my phone is stuck on "verifying updates" on the lock screen. I can't even shut it off completely because it will not let me slide the power off button.
I even connected into my macbook air, but nothing happened.
Any help is appreciated to fix this issue.

    Hello Bearcat_Pooja,
If the update process has not completed, it may help to put your iPhone into recovery mode in order to get it updated.

  • HT5500 Stuck on verifying when setting up Facebook it iPhone

I'm trying to connect my phone to Facebooknand it gets stuck on verifying and nothing happens. It's the right password as I just used my pc to double check.
    Using iphone4s

These are a couple different issues
The purchase issue means they came from a different Apple ID
You will need that Apple ID and password for those purchases
The iCloud account can be an Find My iPhone issue.
That could be the same Apple ID as the purchased or yet another one.
Once again you will need that Apple ID and password.

Each time I attempt to hook my iPod up to iTunes it gets stuck on "Verifying ______________'s iPod" (after a lenghthy issue listed below). I followed instructions I read in a form to uninstall all Apple related programs (ITunes, Quicktime, Bonjour etc), restarted my computer deleted iTunes folder, iPod folder etc etc et al (all of my iTunes files and music are on an external hard drive). "Schedule disk check" and it sits stuck on "Verifying _________ 's iPod" until I finally get ****** off and unplug it, it then  cycles through without adding anything new.  I've left it on "Verifying____" over night and came back the next morning and it was still "verifying".  Help!

It was working as of two days ago the last time I got new music.  Help...??

In trying to install IOS 8?? (current update)  on ipad and now stuck on "verifying update". Cannot even shut the thing down. Help??

You need to use Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off your device
    2. Press the Home button and while holding it, connect your device to the computer
    3. Keep the Home button pressed until you see the "Connect to iTunes screen"
    4. Release the Home button and open iTunes on your computer
    5. You will see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode". Use iTunes to recover your device.
You may need to repeat these steps several times.
    Hope this helps!

  • Stuck on 'verifying iPhone restore with Apple' downloading ios 5

Does anyone else have this same problem? Stuck on 'Verifying iPhone restore with Apple' Its been doing this for well over an hour now with the black and white bar moving underneath.. also it shows the picture on my iPhone that i need to plug it into iTunes.. with every now and then a refresh with the Apple logo... please help!

I've got an original iPhone running 3.1.3 and my symptom has been that when the phone is plugged in, I see the phone in the menu, and I get the message "Verifying iPhone..." for 15 seconds or so, then the phone displays "Sync in Progress" but iTunes drops the phone from the menu and shows no sync activity. The phone continues to say "Sync in Progress" but there is no sync happening. [I've ordered a 4S but I don't want to be unable to sync this old device!!]
PS I kept trying a number of times - the phone is visible, then it disappears - I'm not sure this was the key, but when I switched my phone from being plugged into a usb hub, and plugged it in directly, it finally stayed connected, backedup, and seems to have synced correctly.

Thanks for the link to that troubleshooting article elsewhere on the Apple site. That worked for me, but not until the very last step (before calling Apple). I did a complete uninstall of iTunes and tried to uninstall the AppleMobileDevice extension as well. Only then did the restore work.
