"raidctl -l c0t0d0" in T1000 shows incorrect disk size

We are using hardware raid1, set up with raidctl command on our T1000. When I issue "raidctl -l c0t0d0" in our T1000 it shows incorrect disk size of 689.9M, instead of 136G. This seems to have started with 12/1/09 Recommended Patch Cluster for Solaris 10. Is anyone else seeing this and/or know of a fix?

  • MacBook in target disk mode shows incorrect disk size

My 80 GB hard drive in MacBook has gone bad (the filesystem is in inconsistent state). I connected it to an iMac in Target Disk Mode. It shows up (unmounted) but the capacity reported by Disk Utility is 20 GB. Does someone know why is that? Is it due to the corrupt filesystem?
I am afraid that given this situation, if I buy and run DiskWarrior, that too might not be able to see the full disk and fail to repair it. Note that if I boot my MacBook using the Apple CD, the Disk Utility shows the correct disk size.
    Thanks.

If you have a disk that is in really, really bad shape to the point that Disk Utility looks at you like a 5 year old that just spilled a glass of apple juice on the kitchen floor, it's time to bring in the big guns.
    DiskWarrior.
I love it, I love it. If someone has something bad to say about it, they are lying. If there is a chance that you can get everything back to normal without spending the huge dough to send your drive out to be dismantled in a clean room, DiskWarrior is that chance.
    It's worth every single penny.
Let me know if you have other queries.

  • Please help!  2012 13" macbook pro with 250GB SSD, showing incorrect disk space reading

I have a 2013 Macbook Pro.  Installed a new samsung evo 250 GB SSD.  Runs great, very fast.  However after looking through the available disk space and usage, there is a discrepancy between the available disk space and the amount of space being used throughout movies, pics, apps, backups, etc.  I have enclosed a screenshot, to give a better idea.  Any takers?  it shows that i have 1.16GB of music which i dont have.  It also shows 728.6MB of photos, which also i don't have.  I have no pics nor music on my macbook.  Lastly, it is showing that I have 114.11GB of apps on the macbook, which clearly is impossible for me to have!  It shows that i have over 227.49GB of free space out of 249.07.  Doesnt make sense at all!  If anyone has a solution in fixing this, please let me know, thanks!

  • Ultra 60 "Seeing" Incorrect Disk Size

    System: Ultra 60 - (2x 360MHz, 256 RAM)
The system has (2) 18GB drives, a Seagate Barracuda and a Toshiba (which turns out in fact to be a rebranded Barracuda). After launching the Solaris 10 installer, I noticed it only sees 2 9GB drives. I am completely new to SPARC architecture. My initial though was to upgrade the BIOS (PROM I guess) and that the drives are probably supportable since both are in the factory options list in the System Handbook section of the site. After successfully applying the patch for OBP and POST, I launched the Sol10 installer again and got the same result. The drives are hooked to the onboard controller and integrated backplane via SCA. They are most definately 18GB drives, both. Also on the internal SCSI is the factory CD drive. When I acquired the system, I thought I performed some steps to clear the NVRAM; would there have been some way for the previous owner to have capped the drive recognition or set up some kind of odd RAID with the internal controller, or perhaps something I still need to do to force recognition? Also, the system has another SCSI controller, some strange thing with an Ethernet connecter combined on it. Nothing is currently hooked to it, I'm using onboard everything. I wanted to get some advice before I run out and acquire an internal SCSI cable to try it on the add-in controller. Thanks!

So, after some extensive playing and advice-exploring, I still have the same results. The problem is simplistic: the LBA-geometry drive is full size, and the other is seen in CHS, and thus seen incorrectly. I believe the way to correct this is to fill in the "type" routine in format with a CHS value that yields a large disk, OR use some other utility from within an OS to rewrite the disk label to LBA or perform the CHS geometry modification. Does anyone know of any way to make a disk seen by "format" as CHS switch over to LBA? (normally performed in the BIOS of a PC) or a generic CHS value used for large CHS drives? (like 65536/255/<drive-specific sector number>) I tried the auto and SUN18G types (matches the part numbers of the drives in the System Handbook, these are genuine Sun parts as well and have SUN18G in their firmware model #), and doing this on an LBA drive leaves me with an LBA drive, and it doesn't change on CHS either. Within the course of a night I can have either Solaris 10 or Debian on the "good" disk so I can have any utility necessary, and still would really like to resolve this. I can also bring these into work and slap em into a Proliant, and use the SCSI on that to low-level these disks as well, if that will help and will solve the issue.
Also of interest, do these drives have some geometry they report to the OS built into the drive's firmware? Might that be where the LBA/CHS info is coming from, or is it just a soft disklabel that someone wrote with whatever antiquated version of Solaris was previously on this? Thanks again for your continued help. ST-318203LC is the problematic drive.

  • Incorrect Page Size or Orientation Error Detected in Live Preflight

    Wednesday, November 10, 2010 12:16:40 PM PST
I am trying to prepare a newsletter created in Adobe InDesign to send to a Printer in Germany.  This is the first time I'm sending a document to press since moving to Germany last February and the first time since upgrading my computer and software to:
    MacBookPro: Model 5,3
    Adobe InDesign:  ver. 6.0.6
    Adobe Acrobat Pro:  ver. 9.4.0
The standard paper size in Europe is "A4" , slightly larger than our "Letter" size. Document was set up an "A4" document size. A4 is also selected on the Print menu.
Live Preflight shows "incorrect page size or orientation" and says:
    Required: 612 pt. x 792 pt.
    Current: 595.276 pt. x 841.89 pt.
Fix: Choose File/ Document Setup to specified required page size.
I tried changing the document setup to the "required" 612 x 792, and the document was squeezed into the smaller space, ruining the document formatting! I undid the damage and looked further for the incorrect preference setting.
There is a wrong setting somewhere, but I can't find it.
Distiller is rejecting the document and won't generate a PDF. The only other errors detected in Preflight were RGB color space issues.
All settings in InDesign Preferences, Print Menu and PDF generator are set for the size A4, yet Preflight insists that the Document
Size and Orientation are incorrect and suggests changing the size to 612 pt. x 792 pt.
I also noted that when setting up the PDF, I did not check "Optimized for Fast Web Viewing," yet when I generated the PDF, it "Optimized for Fast Web Viewing." It seems that there is some preference somewhere that is overriding my selections. But where....?!
I was able to generate a PDF from InDesign (without going through Distiller) and the printer was able to use the PDF.  I was taught to always use Distiller when submitting files to printers, and to "package" the files.  Is there some risk in sending files without using Distiller?
In addition to the page size/orientation issue, Europe has different standards for color space and printers' ink also. If anyone could shed some light on how I should adapt to European standards, I would be grateful.
I was disappointed that Adobe offered only paid support, although I purchased Adobe CS4 less than a year ago. For such an expensive
product, I would think free support would be available for at a minimum one year.

Yes, Preflight was looking for letter size and created a conflict with my page size/orientation selections in the document setup and print setup.
No, this didn't resolve the problem keeping Distiller from making my PDF.
Here is the message Distiller gave when it rejected the file:

    Distill Time: 7 seconds (00:00:07)
    **** End of Job ****
Does every criterion set in Preflight have to be fulfilled for Distiller to work?  How do I isolate the problem keeping the PDF from being created?

  • Finder Showing Incorrect usage and availability of external disk

I have a 80gig external drive; one for cloneing (with superduper) and one misc files.
I just erased some of the misc files but the Finder View does not show the correct size.
I checked each folder in the misc file partition and it is way off. Its partitioned for 40 gig and says there is only 7 available with 33 being used. I checked each file individually in the partition and they total less than 10 so I know its way off.
Here are some things I tried.
    1. I tried disk utility to see if that correctly showed the files - it didn't.
    2. I tried file info and it didn't work.
    3. I verified both disk partitions and they were fine
    4. I turned shut down the computer and mounted/unmounted the hard drive -- didn't work either.
thanks for any help you can give me to "refresh" this finder, info,or disk utility.

I then shutdown and started back up WITH my external HD plugged in when I restarted. And, Waleh!!!!, It now shows the correct amount of usage and availabilitySo what was the magic spell?
Sometimes Finder presents stale information, but it is unusual (but not impossible) for the underlying disk utilities to do this. It could be this is what happened in your case!
    Whatever, glad it's fixed!

  • Creative Zen (16GB Model) showing incorrect song information

<Creative Zen (6GB Model) showing incorrect song information I was given a Creative Zen for christmas, and I'm very happy with it.
The only thing is, I've noticed that it seems to occasionally display the wrong title for the song it's playing. I have a playlist called RandomAll which I created using the Media Explorer software. Sometimes, when I look down at the player, I'll notice the wrong song information on screen. Not just the title or anything, but completely wrong information. For example, right now, my player is telling my that a Rihanna song is playing, and gives me all the details for that song (including the extended details if I go into the menu). But the song that's actually playing is a cover of Fraggle Rock by Me First & The Gimme Gimmes. It doesn't seem to be the same songs every time or anything like that, so I don't think it's a problem with the files.
Is this an issue that has been noticed by anyone else? Is there anything I can do to fix it's And if not, is it the kind of thing I need to send my player back for?

@ It could be incorrect ID3 tags on your .mp3s, if the source for your music had the wrong ID3 information, your Zen won't show the correct information unless you use an? ID3 Tag Editor to correct the source.

  • I have a fat32 formatted drive (WD my passport 500GB) that is showing in disk utility but does not mount. I am using a macbook with mac osx 10.5.8.

Disk warrior came highly recommended on other posts but because the drive is not mac os formatted it won't do its warrior magic...
The drive shows in disk utility but the options to repair are greyed out. The drive ejects sometimes but not others. The drive powers up with light and I can hear noise (not loud just a hum that confirms (i think) that it is spinning.). The drive is as it cames and booted on both a windows XP pc and my macbook with mac os x 10.5.8.
I have tried test disk but after running for a day with no other command prompts other than the first recommend I uninstalled it.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Disk util in recovery mode shows invalid disks - fixing merges the disks to a single LVG

Seems another day, another interesting issue in Mac OS which has me stumped a little bit.
Background: My setup is the laster Mac Mini server, I have upgraded the root disk to a 256GB SSD and moved the ordered 1TB magnetic drive to the secondary disk.
I installed the system with Mac OS Mountain Lion and everything was fine. At this stage I had both disks encrypted with filevault. I then decided to play with some imaging and so destroyed the disks with diskutil cs delete UUID from the terminal in recovery mode (the installer would not work with the disks until I did this), at this stage everything is still ok and the system installed as expected. I then installed a second Mountain Lion instance to the secondary disk, and booted off this, to clone the SSD with disk util. Again, up until this point, everything is as expected.
Once I had the disk image created, I rebooted to recover mode, and attempted to clear the disks using diskutil and then reinstall Mountain Lion to the SSD, and have the magnetic disk as my users disk, at this point, disk util showed the disks in red. Clicking the disks, diskutil informed me that the disks were bad and I could either fix or ignore. If I ignored, then the installer could not use the disks, if i fixed them, then diskutil merged the disks into a single LVG of 1.25TB, which is obviously not what I wanted, no matter of permutations could fix this. I then had to open the terminal, destroy the LVG and then let the installer run (from memory, i might have had to create a default partition on the SSD before the installer could use the disk, but not 100% sure anymore (tried too many things!))
Now, when I open disk util in Mountain Lion, everything is fine, but if I reboot to the recovery partition, then the disks are in their invalid state still.
I found a macworld article (http://www.macworld.com/article/2015664/how-to-split-up-a-fusion-drive.html) which details pretty much what I'm seeing (see the quirks section), but I haven't got a fusion drive - I can only assume then that diskutil *thinks* I have a fusion drive!
    - has anyone seen this before? is there a fix? can I make the disks valid in recovery-mode diskutil as its quite useful to partition the disks when installing the OS.
    - does anyone know how I got into this state? is it because of two instances of ML?
    - Is this a bug in diskutil? is it worth of a bug report?
As an aside, when running diskutil list in recovery mode, i see, from memory 13 disks (/dev/disk0 - 13) which seems strange, disks0 and 1 were my internal disk, disk 2 the ML net image, and then the rest were small, a couple of hundred K in most cases.
    thanks!
    SockThief

    hey @keg55
brilliant! So I was mostly right now doesn't that make you feel good - to be honest, I'm gettingg rather sick of tools that are too smart and do what they think you meant, rather than what you **** well tell them!
It's was strange the timing of it, as diskutil (gui in recovery mode) only thought the disks were bad after I installed ML on the magnetic disk as well as the SSD.
So if I want to erase a disk (to ensure an absolute clean slate before reinstalling) is a diskutil eraseDisk diskX sufficient? I don't think writing 0's is really required, so zeroDisk/randomDisk/secureErase aren't really applicable to a simple reinstall. But, then I guess before installing, it will require a partition, correct?
I was thinking, perhaps I could solve this by making a 1:1 LVG, i.e.: put the SSD in an LVG and the magnetic disk in an LVG?
