Raising alerts if no message processed

Hi,
I would like to to raise an alert if NO message is prossed in the scheduled window for eg : 3 - 5pm every day for particular receiver channel ? As I dont have any control on the IDoc sender.
Please suggest
Thanks
Harsha

This requirement may not be possible in XI/ PI. May be setting alert logic in your receiver system would help.

    hi
you can trigger alert for any of the component failure.
for this u nees the ccms configuration.
than you need to configure in RZ20 and RZ21.
    steps.
    1. create alert category in ALRTCATDEF
    2.enter long text
    3. add fixed recepient.
    4.go to RZ21.
    5. select display overview for method
    6. serch for method CCMS_Send_Alert_to_ALM.
    7. copy the method and create ur own Z method.
    8. open ur method.
    9. under control tab select ONLY IN CENTRAL SYSTEM TRIGGERED BY CCMS AGENTS.
    10. in parameter tab give ur alert cat created before.
11.under release tab select AUTO REACTION METHOD.
    12. go to RZ20.
    13. a list of system will be displyed select ur own xi system
    14. now select the queue name for which u want to trigger alert.

    Hi Inaki,
Thank you for the note. but this feature is available from 7.3 SP13 but we are on 7.3 SP4.and it is very difficult to upgrade to SP13.
For us the webmethods will place the messages in their queue and PI pick those messages using the Sender JMS channel with following configuration,
    transport protocol:Access JMS provider Generically
    Message protocol:JMS1.X
Is there any other solution to trigger  an alert when the thread is hung? Also is it possible to auto referesh a channel?

  • Error in JMS Communication Channel not raising alert

Processing Errors in JMS Communication Channel are not raising alerts.
The settings on the communication channel retires are set at 3 and 5min interval.
In RWB the JMS communication channel shows processing errors but an alert is not raised.
The alert are configured in our system and we even have a catch all alert rule with * (wildcard). Errors in PI message processing are raising alerts but errors in Comm Channel are not raising alerts.
The message in SXI_MONITOR shows as processed successfully but when we check the RWB and Comm. Channel Monitoring we see processing errors "Channel error occured; detailed error description: JMS error: Connection to the server has been terminated; Linked error: Connection reset, Error Code:null"
Are we missing any configuration? How do we get alerts/notifications if there are errors in Comm. Channel without having to login into RWB and watch it periodically?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    RM

    Hi,
What is the staus of Communication channel in RWB when it fails, RED ??if yes then it should genarate alert.
create one more alert for specific to JMS interface and check it out.

  • To raise Alert if Message fails at any of Pipeline Steps.

    Hi all,
I need to raise alert if message fails at any of pipeline steps and i need to send alert to TIVOLI and store in TIVOLIdatabase.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Dinesh

    hi dinesh,
for raising the alerts we have to do the alert configuration in the runtime workbench. u can configure the alerts to mailed to a specific mail id or else u can configure it according to the specification required.
    thanks,

  • How to stop message processing based on validation?

    Hello experts,
I have a requirement to stop message processing in the graphical mapping based on validation results. Here is the scenario - messages are translated using graphical mapping and sent to the target system. An RFC lookup will be done to ECC to determine if the data in the message is good. If the lookup returns a negative result, message processing should be stopped right there.
I guess we can throw an exception from the mapping to force a failure and stop further processing, but that will cause the message to show up as failed on SXMB_MONI and cause alert emails to be sent out in PROD. Another option will be to supress creation of the root node itself, but I think the message will then fail in the subsequent "call adapter" step if the target schema has a min occurence of 1 for the root node (as in the case of IDocs).
Is it possible to do it without using BPM?
    Thanks,
    Michelle

    Hi Michelle,
If your requirement, to stop message processing without sending an alert?
If yes, then you can have a alert rule, not to trigger alerts on a failure (And to raise an exception based on the result from RFC loookup).
If your requirement is not to make the message fail, then you have to go for the ccBPM route.

  • BPM: How to Raise Alert and Restart together ?

The requirement is like this.My Integration Process receives a message, performs a 1:N split and undergoes further processing using Transformation steps. I want to ensure the following in case any one of the Transfofrmation fails(Because of some coding error in the step):
    1. Raise an Alert
    2. Should be able to restart the Process again from the
failed step once the Transformation code is fixed.
    3. To raise an Alert for any file adapter level errors,
and to restart the processing of the message once the
       file adpter error is resolved
I have tried the following approaches, but it does not help me achieve all of the above condition.
I have put the Transformation step in a Block and introduced an exception branch with one control step which raises an Alert.
Issue: This will raise an alert when the step fails, but it ends the BPM with a Processed status and hence I will not be able to restart the BPM.
So I put another Control step immediately following the Alert step which raises an exception. However I have not handled this exception. Hence when a step fails, I am able to raise an alert as well as the BPM gets errored out.
Issue : However, now when I restart the process in swf_xi_swpr, The process restarts with the Control step which was used to throw exception. It does not restart with the Failed mapping step.
To raise Alerts for Adpter level errors which might occur before the message comes to BPM, I have defined alert category and rule in runtime workbench. However, the Alerts are not triggered when the file adapter fails.
Please share any ideas on how to achieve all the 3
    requirements together.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Joachim!
I was facing a very similar problem in my BPM modelling.
Is there really no other chance than to loop (and maybe wait some time) over the critical (e.g. networking down, ...) parts of the BPM to have some active notification via alerts AND a possibility for retry?
In my opinion this would a very inflexible way of doing error-handling stuff - if so - is it about to change in the upcoming releases?
Currently I guess I can have:
    a) either ALERTING (by catching exception and raise alert)
    OR
    b) convenient retry mechansisms via "SWF_XI_SWPR" (by not catching exceptions at all and let the relevant block become "errorenous") ...
    Any other suggestions ...?
    Many Thanks,
    Andy

  • Empty File handling and raise alert.

    Hi,
We have requirement where we are doing file pass through. But client wants PI to raise alert when it receives 0 byte file.
How can we achieve this using File/FTP/SFTP adapter when we are not reading the actual payload and doing only pass thru?
    Thanks,
    Vertika

    Hi Vertika,
AFAIK - there is no standard way for pass through interface to raise alert (for empty file). so you need to develop adapter module to raise the alert for empty file.
    Please refer the help page
Configuring the Sender File Adapter - Advanced Adapter Engine - SAP Library
Under Handling of Empty Files, specify how empty files (length 0 bytes) are to be handled:
Do Not Create Message No XI messages are created from empty files. The files are processed according to the selected processing mode. For example, if the processing mode is Delete, empty files are deleted in the source directory.
Process Empty Files XI messages are created with an empty main payload. The files are processed according to the selected processing mode.
Skip Empty Files No XI messages are created from empty files.Empty files are skipped and remain in the source directory.

  • Terminate Message processing From UDF/mapping

i think u will be checking the condition first if its false then u will be raising alert.
wat u can do is when the condition fails u set the flag to false and send the output of UDF to ifwithoutelse statement and becuase of which ur mapping will not be processed.
u have to do it at root node level and u have to supress the target node when the condition fails.
    chirag

    wat exactly r u doing?
U have to first check all the condition at root level only before message get processed, based on that result u will stop the processing of message at the target end.
u ahve to set the falg in UDF and accordingly u need to suppress the target root node.

  • Raise Alerts for BPM errors

    Hi Experts,
I have a BPM, from which need to raise Alerts for Mapping error.
is it possible to raise alerts using Alert rule and with out throwing alerts from BPM.
    Thank you,
    <b>MK</b>

    Hi MK
The SAP Computing Center Management System (CCMS) provides a special alert monitor for SAP Exchange Infrastructure.
You use this alert monitor to monitor the ABAP and Java components (including the Business Process Engine) of your Exchange Infrastructure centrally, and to identify different categories of system errors and application errors in the various interfaces and interface namespaces of the components involved.
You use the alert configuration to have the system inform you of errors during message processing. You can receive the alert by e-mail, fax, or SMS. In each case you will also find the alert in your alert inbox.
To configure your alerts, proceed as follows:
&#9679;     Create the alert categories that you want to use in your alert rules.
&#9679;     Create the alert rules in which you want to use your alert categories.
&#9679;     You can configure a connection to CCMS and schedule the periodic transfer of alerts to CCMS.
Once you have configured the connection to CCMS, choose Show CCMS Connection, select a period, and start the periodic transfer.
A background job is scheduled that collects all unprocessed alerts and forwards the data to CCMS. You can also stop this job.
As soon as a particular threshold value is reached, or is exceeded alerts are triggered and The transferred data is displayed in a special CCMS monitor.
You can raise alerts through  BPM also .you can design your BPM in such a way that if an exception occurs, the exception handler for it has a control step in which youu can throw alert specifying the alert category and the text.
For more information on alert configuration and CCMS you can refer to http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/90/4e313f8815d036e10000000a114084/frameset.htm

  • Raising Alerts from BI

    Hi All,
I want to raise two alerts from BI7, will you please let me know the step by step process of how to do this.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Radhika

You can check if Pc has alert or not from
    Rspc> Processchain>attributes--? alert
If alert check box is on ,your pc has alert
Make sure you have sufficient authorization to do it.
Anyway will give you step by step procdure for it
You can send messages to an application process of the chain, depending on the success or failure of the process.
    1. To do this, using the context menu for a process, create another process variant of type Send Message.
    2. If you maintain a message, first specify whether you want the message to be sent when the process has been completed successfully or unsuccessfully. Then choose Next.
    3. A dialog box appears, in which you can select an existing process variant or create a new one.
    4. If you create a new process variant, edit the document that is going to be sent and maintain a list of recipients.
    5. Save your process variant and go back.
The message process variant is now assigned to your application process. When the message is sent, the status information and the process log are also sent.
Note, you must configure SAPconnect in order to ensure that your system can send email - use transaction SCOT if this has not been configured.
It's set as a property for an individual process in the chain. You would have to set on each process where you want notification.
One technique you might consider, is that tou can create a "meta-chain" made up of local chains, and you can set a message on each of the "local chain" processes in the meta-chain

    HI,
It is possible to write a ABAP program to raise alert.and schedule it , In ABAP program we can check the file is existed or not in a specified folder if existes then we can raise Alert.Actually Alerts are maintained by SAP Alert Management only.
So , but not clear , you said you are using the File receiver adapter .
-- onoption is -this can bepossible with OS command .
-- also we can raise alert from Payload itself , why becz i understand whenever you are going to write a file with file adapter then you need to raise an alert right?
so if message is existed i mean data existed then from raise alert and store the file onoption
-- Also you can try calling an ABAP program as the auto-reaction method of the MTE in CCMS

  • How to raise alert in BPM

    Hi Experts,
Please tell me how to raise alert using control step in BPM. What are the other steps to be used with control step for raising alerts?
Is CCMS Alerts and Alerts by BPM are same? If they are not the same, how they are different to each other?
my requirement is, simply i want to raise a mapping, data related errors by Alert.
in addition to it, i want to raise alerts for any failure in IE.
Could any one tell , what are the sequence of steps needed in BPM for the above requirement?  Plz take a IDOC to FTP receiver scenario and explain me BPM steps.

  • Mail on success or error in message processing

    Hi experts
I need to configure a scenario
    1. Receive idoc from an SAP system
    2. Convert the Idoc into File and Place it in the NFS File directory.
    3. On success of the message, I need to mail to SAP Owner regarding the success of the message.
    4. On error as well , i need the error details to the SAP Owner.
I had configued all the basic steps in IR. I had struck with the BPM part.
Please suggest with the steps in the BPM.
    Thnz

    hi Mohamed,
For sending the mail on success or error in message processing you need to go to the runtime workbench and configure the scenario for mail alerts.
You need to create the alert rules for the success scenario and the failure scenario.
While creating the rules you can specify the message id's to which the mail should be sent.
Please refer to the below link for more clarification.

  • Force Quit in Message Processing

Is there a way to force quit the message processing for XI using Java UDF during mapping runtime?

    Hi,
In the UDF based on the condition we can thrown an Exception and call the alert to quit the message processing.
We can set the alert and call that alert from the UDF.
