Me too. I have a 21.5" IMac running OS 10.6.8.   Changed from Airport connection from my router (which works o.k. to my wife's HP PC) to a hardwire ethernet connection.  Even so, every few minutes I get the lost connection screen and the greenlight has shifted from Ethernet to Airport!  It's a real pain in the A..
The lights on my D-link DCM-202 modem are all o.k. (3 solid green, Ethernet flashing green) meaning that there is no trouble with my Comcast cable link.  I've seen a lot of complaints about this problem here but can't find any solutions.  Anyone have one?

  • Wireless N WRT300, Constantly Losing Connection

This router Constantly loses the internet connection, and I am HARD WIRED to this router, is this not somthing they should have mastered Ages ago?
The wireless signal is Weak and constantly loses it's connection.
I've tried calling them to fix it, I've changed the MTU, from 1500, to 1400, to 1300 etc, etc, I 've also set it to auto.... nothing.
Every so often the internet connection Drops, the only way to fix it, is to Unplug the router and plug it back in. Soon as this is done the internet works instantly again. I can see the wireless being buggy, but NOT the hardwire, there is NO excuse for this.
And to boot I just love how bestbuy wont allow any exchanges on this type of hardware, And cannot return it, and I cannot exchange it for a different router. I can only echange it for the exact same make and model of router.

I also have the wrt300N router. I am losing connection all the time either wirelessly or wired. When the router works it is blazing fast, but every 2-5 minutes it just HANGS which is REALLY ANNOYING!
I have updated the firmware. This happens on my wired XP machine, my wireless XP, or on my apple laptop. It is not the computers becuase my old wireless router (linksys i forget the number, but it was a b system at least 4-5 years old) did not have this issue....
I saw on some threads that port forwarding may help? Is this a solution? Anyone have any ideas? Clearly by reading the posts this is not an isolated problem....

  • Wireless Keyboard Constantly Losing Connection

I have been having trouble with my wireless keyboard for awhile now. It constantly loses the connection to my iMac.

Similar problem here -- keyboard has brand new batteries. I go into System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Set up Wireless Keyboard. It shows the "searching" and wait cursor. If I hold the power button on the keyboard, the light will turn green, and then it will flash, and as it's flashing the computer will say "keyboard found". If I hit the "Continue" button in time, it will show 100% on the battery charge when it gets back to the main screen, but within 5-20 seconds the keyboard will disconnect, giving a "Connection lost" message

  • Constantly Losing Connection

I swapped a couple of weeks ago to BT Infinity hoping to have a speedier connection for myself and the family.  We got it up and running, with everyone on wifi and yes the speed is faster.  However we are finding that we are constantly having to disconnect and reconnect to the router as it keeps saying we have no connection even though the router is blue and the computer says signal strength is excellent.  Any advice before I start the dreaded phone calls to BT???

If router still connected to internet is your problem with your wireless devices?  are your wired connections working ok?

  • Constantly losing connection with 500GB Time Capsule

I have a cable modem plugged into a fairly new 1TB Time Capsule. It is creating a wireless network (both a 2.4GHz, a guest network and a 5GHz network). I then have another (older) 500GB Time Capsule connected directly to my Mac Pro (which lacks an airport card). It is connecting to the 5GHz network as is an Airport Extreme downstairs (both of the time capsules are upstairs about 100 ft from one another).
Particularly recently (since activating "Back To My Mac" on both of the Time Capsules but also before, the older 500GB TC is losing its connection to the network all the time. The unit still appears in the Airport Utility and the light is green but my Mac Pro has no Internet access and the Airport Extreme stops working for music. Restarting the TC fixes the problem but only temporarily, often for only a few minutes to an hour.
What in the world can I do to fix this???
    Thank you!!

    Hi guys,
I hope you guys won't mind if I join this discussion.
I just posted a problem of mine on another thread, but after reading this thread I think Bob can really help me atleast with some advices.
My problem has been with connection drops. I've been experiencing this issue for quite some time now and late it's become more severe.
the internet service seems to be OK because when I connect my laptop to LAN line it works OK and speed is really fast.
So I'm narrowing down my issue to my network set up.
I use a Time Capsule as a wireless network and a Linksys modem/router.
I've downloaded iStumbler and my "samples" average out at -50dbm and -90dbm
Right now I've set up my Time Capsule so that it works only on 5ghz.
There's no competition for 5ghz in the area, but I see 21 wireless networks on 2.4ghz on iStumbler! I never realized there were so many!
Most of them have signal strength of about 15%, while mine averages out at 50%.
I sit about 15 feet from the TC and it has clear line of sight. No walls. The TC is close to a corner of the room.
I've tested using 3com router as a wireless network and signal strength seems stronger from the same position, but 3com's connection drop is much worse than Time Capsule.
Do you think the connection drop is coming from the interferences or my ISP?
If it's interference, what is your suggestion...?
I was thinking to get airport extreme, but now that I see this thread I hope you can provide some suggestions before I make my next move.
Thanks and sorry again for cutting into the middle of this discussion.
Hopefully my problem will also help Thread Creator fix his problem as well.

  • WRT54GS V6 Constantly Losing Connection

I have recently purchased a Linksys WRT54GS V6 router. I initially had it running fine with only 2 computers, 1 wired the other wireless. I have now moved into a house shared with 5 other college students which brings the total to 7 wireless computers running on the network. It worked fine for the first few hours, but after that, the connection would drop to 1Mbps then be cut off all together. The WLAN light would no longer be lit and power cycling the router would be the only thing to bring it back. Sometimes this has to be done 5 or 6 times a day. I can no longer return this as the 30 day return has run out. Are there any fixes out there as I have read this is not an uncommon problem? I am running the most current firmware 1.50.8 and am using WEP encryption. Taking off the encryption does nothing as the connection still drops.

hi, There are a few things that you can try to get a better wireless connectivity. On every PC , add your routers SSID to be the preferred network or create a profile adding your SSID.
Then on the router go to the advanced wireless settings under the wireless section.Change the value of the beacon interval to 50.Reduce the RTS and fragmentation by 40 each.
See if this makes a difference.

  • WRT54GL - constantly losing connection (not just the wireless)

I have done searches here before I posted, but, in this rare case, almost TOO much information comes up, and not all of it is the exact issue that I am having, so I wanted to simply post a message and hopefully get a response or at least be directed to the proper response is already answered.
Up until about two weeks ago, I had an older WRT54TG, years old, never had any issues with it.  Then it died.  It didn't just have issues, the entire thing just died.  I didn't even care.  I more than got my money's worth out of it.  I then got a brand new WRT54GL, had no issues setting up or upgrading to the newest firmware.
However, at LEAST once, sometimes up to four times a day, the connection vanishes.  This is not just the wireless connection, but the connection to the computer it is hardwired to.  I am forced to load up the router software and click on DHCP Renew to get it working again.  To be blunt, this is just not acceptable, and if it cannot be fixed, I will have to buy a different router.  I cannot even remember having to do this with the older router except when power went out.  Here, though, it just happens.
Today, for example, I turned my laptop on in the morning, while upstairs, had no Internet, had to come downstairs, boot up the other computer, do the DHCP Renew just to use my laptop or any other device, again, including the primary computer that is directly connected to it.
So, that's the issue.  Any and all advice would be more appreciated than you know.
    Thank you!

As you upgraded the router's firmware,I would suggest you to reset the router and reconfigure it from the scratch... On the setup page of the router, reduce the MTU value to 1350.Under the Wireless tab,Change the Wireless Channel to 11-2.462GHz.Under the Advance Wireless Settings,Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...Now,power cycle the entire network.

  • Zen 8GB player is constantly losing connectivity with my laptop

Hi, I've a new Zen MP3 player but whenever I connect it to my laptop it constantly drops in and out - I get the windows ding dong and the box asking what I want to do with this device, I click "take no action" and a few seconds later it drops out again. I've tried all the USB ports, various different cables and all the recovery instructions on this site to no avail.
If I try and rip CDs using Zen explorer I constantly get "your ZEN player is disconnected, please connect your ZEN" at the top of the window.
I'm running on an IBM/Lenovo T6 thinkpad, Windows XP professional SP2
Clearly something is knocking out the USB connection continuously, any ideas ?
    Thanks

I have had the same problem for over a year now, and it crops up here every so often. So far there is no simple solution to it. You can try different USB ports, different cables...doesn't usually make much difference. Oddly enough, different computers often do make a difference, but you can't change your PC to suit a Zen.
In my case the connect/disconnect will calm down and go away usually within an hour...so it's a nuisance, but I can li've with it. If you can find a solution to this problem, I'll be immensely grateful. So far, I remain frustrated.

  • Iphone 3 drops wireless connection every 2 seconds, then reconnects, Iphone 4 works fine with same wireless

My wife has an iphone 3 running 4.2.1 (I think thats as high as it can go?) and every two seconds it drops the wireless connection, then reconnects for 2 seconds. I'm using Plusnet wireless and my iphone 4 connects fine to it. Anyone got any ideas?

If no change after resetting network settings on the iPhone and/or after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup and if the same with different wi-fi networks the iPhone has access to, there is a hardware problem with the wireless card or with something else.

  • Simple "fix" to Mouse losing connection.

I was constantly losing connection between Mac Mini and my Mouse.  Also battery drain was an issue.  I left the battery cover off a few months ago off and have had no problems with connection since and still using same batteries (I used to have to change them weekly or biweekly).

    Hello:
Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.  It is also possible that the mouse is failing.

Grrrrr.....makes me miss my stupid PC set up as I could force it to do what I want!
Intermittent connection screws up Netflix, VOIP phone, Amazon, Streaming music via Spotify/Pandora, general internet access.....whole family is ****** off.
    Any tips/tricks/ideas???
    dave

Downgrade firmware to 7.6.1 .. as the latest is just lousy.
It is easy to downgrade.. hold down the option key whilst you click the version number. in Macs.. lots of stuff is hidden behind an option key.
I also strongly recommend a factory reset and use all SMB names.. not apple type names..
    ie TC name.. TCgen4
Wireless name TCwifi (or give names to both bands.. TC24ghz and TC5ghz).
That helps all the non-apple part of the world.. connect.
Also Mavericks has now changed over to SMB as well. So even Mac is now windows networking.
Generally these two things. .7.6.1 firmware and SMB names will fix it.. if not post again as is another step that is possible.. controlling the WAN speed of the TC.

  • When I open firefox before connecting (via 56k modem) or if I leave a previous section open, disconnect and then reconnect, firfox does not work, it remains offline, even though internet is connected. I have to close firefox and reopen

Thanks for the reply. I never get the option to "Restore Previous History" from History. I don't even have the box checked that asks to delete the history when Firefox closes. I don't know what's wrong, no matter what, I always lose everything. I have the box marked "Show my windows and tabs from last time" for when I open Firefox, but it never shows that, just my homepage. Also, when I check my History, it only shows the pages that I opened since I started Firefox, nothing from before. Even if I were to open up 10 pages now, close Firefox, and open it, the history would only show the homepage that opened this time, not any of the 10 pages that I opened 5 minutes ago.

  • HT1153 I've just put new batteries into my wireless mouse for my iMac and now it'll barely stay connected to my computer. It'll just keep disconnecting then reconnecting for a few minutes then disconnect again. Anyone have any ideas?

I've just recently put in brand new batteries into my wireless Bluetooth mouse for iMac and it continuously disconnects itself and will then reconnect itself for only a few minutes, just to disconnect again. It's become impossible to use my computer as my mouse smoky won't connect itself for long enough to do anything. Anyone had this problem before and could help me out?

    HI:
It does not sound like a battery problem.
    Try a couple of things:
    1.          Reset the SMC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    2.          Reset (if you can) the PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
If that does not help, delete the mouse in system preferences, turn it off, restart, and turn the mouse back on.
    Barry
P.S.  I only needed it once, but I have an old USB mouse in case my Bluetooth one decides to quit.

  • Losing connection during call and get no reconnection for hours

Hi, I use my iphone4 (not iphone 4S) with ISO5 latest version. Since some weeks during calls I lose connection to provider and cannot reconnect to network. Restarting doen't help. After some hours the iphone get again connection not knowing what has happend. Losing connection happens while I'm on a fixed place (not travelling in a car or something similar) and making a call. It also happens at different places. Vodafone changed my SIM-card but it doen't help. I also backed-up and renewed the the iphone-software by using iTunes. The vodafone-support explained that with renewing the software a new software-patch will also be installed that should help. As you can imagine - I still have the problem! Who can help?
    Thanks for answering!

#1 Did the problem start occurring after any particular weather event?
    #2 What light turned/turns red?
#3 Do you have Voice service, and if so, do you have noise or static on the line while in a call that was never there before?
#4 Lastly, visit http://192.168.1.1/ and visit the System Status section of the ActionTec. Provide the Transceiver Statistics it shows.
