Ralink Wireless 802.11n LAN Card built in

I accidentally deleted my network wireless connection I was using on my Ralink Wireless Hotspot (which is built into my Windows 7 HP Pavilion Desktop). When I try to set up a new wireless connection it never finds the connection. I know it is possible
to set up a wireless connection to this computer, but now when it scans to set up a network it picks nothing up. Could it be my Ralink Wireless card or something else. Please help me set up a wireless hot spot and/or a new wireless network connection.

Problems connecting on Wireless 802.11n with my T61 with Intel Wireless AGN

Hi, I live in Thailand and have a similar problem as others with my Intel Wireless AGN connection as others. I have a D-Link Model DSL-2740B Rangebooster N ADSL2/2+ Modem Router. It is supposed to support 802.11n draft wireless connections of up to a maximum of 270 MBPS versus 54 MBPS for 802-11G wireless. Of course, I don't expect it to reach the maximum transfer speed, particularly here in Thaiand, however I would expect it to produce results better than the 54 MBPS rate for 802-11G. I first tried it on my ThinkPad T61 which incorporates Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN. When connected, it shows a speed of 54MBPS (802-11G) instead of higher wireless 802-11n speeds. I've upgraded my router to the latest firmware and have tried different configurations with no improvement in performance. One think I have noted is that when I make an on-line configuration change to my router configuration then select "apply", immediately my ThinkPad rate changes to 150 MBPS momentarily then my connection is lost (to be expected as the router changes are being implemented), followed by reconnection of wireless signal only to return at 54 MBPS again. I also have an older ThinkPad model without built-in wireless capability so I purchased a Belkin wireless 802.11n USB adapter to connect to my router. Again, the maximum connection is at 54 MBPS. When I repeat configuration changes to my router as I did above, my ThinkPad connection momentarily changes to only 1 MBPS instead of 150 MBPS as in my other T61 ThinkPad then reverts back to 54 MBPS once the configuration changes have been completed. Has anyone successfully used wireless 802.11n successfully at the higher transfer rates (above 54 MBPS)? Is it possible that my TOT Goldcyber connection speed is artificially limited? I notice that my rated speed for my desktop computer connected to my same D-Link DSL-2740B only indicates a rated speed of 100 MBPS. I use Vista Home Premium 64-bit on my destop, Vista Home Premium 32-bit on my ThinkPad T61, but us Windows XP Professional on my older ThinkPad. I feel that my problem is either with my ADSL carrier (TOT) or compatibility with my D-Link DSL-2740B Modem Router and my ThinkPad T61 internal wireless card and/or Belkin wireless n USB adapter. IT-City is letting me swap out the Belkin USB for the D-Link Rangebooster n DWA-140 USB adapter next week when they restock. The only other think that I can think of is that wireless n just doesn't work in Thailand and that maybe I should just stick with wireless G and go with a higher powered wireless USB model such as the business rated EmGenius EUB 362 EXT. Has anyone used this model and had good success with it; I've heard that it is a long range model and has the capability of reaching 108 MBPS through some sort of magic? Looking forward to reading your replies and possible solution.

Intel Wi-Fi cards support full 802.11n speed of 300 Mb/s working at 5 GHz range only. Your D-Link DSL-2740B works only in 2.4 GHz range. So to get 300 Mb/s you have to get another wi-fi router that supports 802.11n in both 2.4 and 5 GHz, for instance Lynksys WRT610N or Apple Airport Extreme or whatever.

Well, nobody answered my question, so I went to Fry's Electronics and purchased the Linksys, Netgear and Dlink cardbus adapters for my Toshiba notebook PC. Fry's allows returns, no questions asked.
I have good news. All three cards work fine at 54 Mbps 802.11g speeds, connected with the Apple AEBSn. Kind of expected there.
One and only one, the Linksys WPC300N card (from Cisco) works PERFECTLY at 802.11n speeds with the AEBSn. In fact, this card performs twice as fast than any of the 802.11n Airport on MacBook Pro and Apple TV!
The Airport Utility reports the following "rates" in the Advanced - Logs and Statistics - Wireless Clients screen:
54 Mbps - Wireless-"g" clients
130 Mbps - Apple Wireless-"n" clients (MacBook Pro and Apple TV)
270 Mbps - Linksys WPC300N
I highly recommend this card for anyone wanting to get a Notebook "Windows PC" to interface with the AEBSn at maximum speeds.

Copy the downloaded files to a CD and use the newer CD instead of the one included in the package (an older driver 4.80.9.2).

Range Extender not working on Wireless 802.11n

Long story short the RE1000 Range Extender is not working (connecting, extending) on Wireless 802.11n after the firmware upgrade. As a result the device is not useful because the devices that attempt to connect to it are NOT expecting the wireless level to change and thus just get stuck in limbo land.
My wifi network (as of writing this) SSID is called "SeriesOfTubez" and is broadcasting on b/g/n. However as you can see by the wireless network survey (from the router) all other devices connect on "n" but the RE1000 is only connecting/broadcasting on "b/g" (not "n")
Is there a setting somewhere to force it to use "n" or does Cisco/Linksys need to fix the firmware again to get it right? or do I need to take the unit back to the store and buy another brand that properly supports 802.11n?

Wireless 802.11n card for iMac G5

I am running a 802.11n wireless network (linksys) with WPA Personal security. Is there any USB or internal adapter to allow a wireless connection to my home network. I have a iMac G5 Power mac 8.2 and the airport card worked fine with the g class network? Apple's official stance is that they do not provide or support any external or 3rd party device to assist. They suggest I drop back dwon to a g network. So much for cutting edge...

Downgrade an 802.11n WiFi card to either b or g

My new laptop has a built-in WiFi card. It is a Broadcom 802.11n card. The brcmsmac driver works fine. It is able to see the router the printer is on, but it is not able to see any of the other WiFi access points in the neighborhood including the WiFi provided by our apartment.
Looking around online I found that the problem is likely that the 802.11n protocol is not supposed to work with encryption other than WPA2. My printer's router is using WPA2, but the apartment's internet router is using WEP (I don't control the router - I don't get to make the choices on it).
For some reason, the brcmsmac driver is not automatically downgrading to the 802.11g connection protocol. Is there any way of forcing it to do so?

I found that iwconfig has an option for setting the modulation, but it is not supported for my card.

I am also starting to think that my problems don't have anything to do with the connection protocol. Some of the other networks in the neighborhood are also using WPA2 encryption and my internal network card doesn't see them either.
Does anyone have any idea why I can see so few networks with my on-board wireless card?

Broadcom Wireless 802.11n low Mbs speed

Hello All,
I just picked up a refurbished G500 and overall I'm pretty happy with it...with one major exception. The #1 criteria when I was laptop shopping was that it provided 802.11n support (my old laptop was just 'g').
Anyway, long story short, I am not experiencing any connectivity issues however I'm lucky if I connect at anything above 55 Mb/s. I switched over to my 802.11g router and my connection speed dropped down to 5 mb/s... so there is obviously an issue.
All suggestions are welcome, but let me rule out the typical initial responses:
* I have a Dell laptop that connects to my 802.11n router at 150Mbs so I know the router is fine
* I have tried the generic Windows Broadcom Driver
* I have tried the Lenovo Broadcom Driver for Win 7
* I have tried the Lenovo Broadcom Driver for Win 8
* I have tried the Lenovo Broadcom Driver for Win 8.1
Also note that I'm in I.T. but wireless isn't my strong point. When I first got the G500 before I did anything to it (so OEM image) the wireless connected low (Think the highest I saw it was 72 Mbs at one point).
I have since wiped that laptop and installed my own copy of Win 8 Pro (and then Win 8.1 Pro Update) and still getting the same speed.
So I feel like I have pretty much ruled out any OS issues (since I've been on 3 at this point). Drivers are always a possibility but I've tried everyone out there. And of course Hardware would be my last thought although it works.. just not that fast.
I'm also wondering:
* Is this card (Broadcom vendor Device ID 4727) even able to connect at that speed.
* Is the G500 wired with the required antenna's to get even 150 Mbs. From my understanding you must have 2 in and 1 out to get 150 but I could be wrong.
Oh, and as a last resort, would just replacing the stock WLAN with a better aftermarket be an option?

I have same problem with you when first use Broadcom 11n wireless card (only got constant 39Mbps). But I've fixed by changed wireless channel in wireless router to less intensity channel (1 or 2...) and set Broadcom driver option "Bandwidth Capability" to "11b/g:20/40Mhz". After that I can get wireless speed from 135 Mbps to 150Mbps.

Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wifi Card - Possible Issues [SOLVED]

Dear Lucky owners of such a card, At least from my experience I realized it is not that bad card, even if most probably many production pieces were faulty or not working properly, and many issues can be resolved. Let me list in order of time the issues I faced and solved about this wifi card: 0) First issue is not about RT3290 card itself but it is related to 802.11w encryption compatibility in between Windows8 and Cisco not allowing 802.11n speed rates so failing to G speeds only. - SOLUTIONS: a. As first test I would recommend trying another router from different brand to see if connecting at 802.11n speed rates b. If you prove point a issue, then try to fix the issue based on following post (in which you can see the reply from myself Emanuele on the 29th of Nov 2014): https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/113836/windows-8-clients-cant-associate-cisco-unified-wireless 1) Signal strenght issue: original wifi card RT3290 installed on my HP laptop was having really bad antenna, with signal fluctuating and sometimes bad even really close to any Router I tried. - SOLUTION: Replace the RT3290 card even with same new card. (In my case as laptop was under warranty, I proved the issue via screenshots and they replaced with new card solving my signal strenght issue). 2) Original issue (1) was actually resolved after HP replaced the wifi card with same model, but with the latest driver installed 5.0.45 seems like wifi rates change too frequently based on high sensitivity of the driver itself, so that suggested me issue was still there, so making me re-testing anything from scratch. - SOLUTION: Install 5.0.37 Driver - frequent rate changes issue (with driver 5.0.45) disappears and sensitivity of signal to rate changes seems to be a really good compromise to have good throughput. 3) To check out 2nd issue above I started again using a third party software inSSIDer free version to check signal while I was doing speedtest on web.
- RESOLUTION:
inSSIDer normally works on Windows7 without any issue but on Windows8 (at least tested with RT3290) I have just discovered somehow this software was slowing down wifi card performance drastically showing a speed up to 0.1Mbps rather than 40Mbps. Simply closing the application issue was not recurring, so uninstalled it and after solving all the other issues above this card works perfectly (at least so far ) Hope this post will be informative and will help other about-to-get-mad guys as me

Wireless 802.11N

I just read about the Wireless N technology, truely amzing stuff. Just a question, if the technology has been around for so long, why does apple not use it in their laptops?

Did some research into this topic. Turns out some, if not all of the MacBook Pro's with the Core 2 Duo processor have a new Airport card manufactured by D-Link that supports 802.11n. I set my router to just use 802.11n but the MacBook did not connect, I later find out that Mac OS X doesn't have a driver that supports 802.11n.
Maybe Leopard will introduce this new wireless standard.

Z61p wireless 802.11n

maybe someone knows is it possible to upgrade my thinkpad with wireless card which support 802.11n?
If it is, where could I look for more info or maybe someone even knows wireless card part code?

AFAIK, Z61p was never offered with a "n" card.
Now, you can get around that with a modded BIOS. However, I haven't seen one for your machine type anywhere.

Is wireless 802.11n better than Draft-n?

I have altered my network following new supply of optical-fibre connection and have found a speed slowdown which may be due to one old Airport Express in the network which is rated as 'Draft-n'. Will it be worth upgrading this unit to a new on rated as 802.11n?

Not really, if this is all that you are looking at, since the standards adopted were essentially the same as "Draft-n".
However, the dual band capability of the new Express will allow you to use both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously. If you are using dual band AirPort routers elsewhere on your network, the new Express version will provide the same simultaneous dual band wireless performance.

Wireless 802.11n on macbook with Leoopard

I m using Macbook core 2 duo, 2.0ghz and 1G Ram, with installed Leopard, i do have a problem on installing the 802.11n enabler that i purchase in apple through online, previously as i was using Tiger, no problem when installing it , but after changed to Mac OS X Leopard, the setup did say that it is not compatible with smth... so any brilliant idea from u all ?? thx for helping me yea...

Leopard has the enabler built-in.
Now, whether Leopard works reliably in 802.11n mode is another matter that is being discussed in dozens of threads on this board.

Compatible Gigabit Wireless 802.11n Routers?

Is anyone aware which currently available routers with gigabit ports & 802.11n are proven to work with .n enabled MacBook Pros?
I realise that depending on where you are in the world, not too many are even on the market as yet but I've read about a few, namely the Linksys WRVS4400 and the D-LINK DIR655 which are available but I can't find out if they will actually work with the MacBooks. Linksys are also bringing out what look like 2 great routers in the near future (WRT350N & WRT330N) but again, who's to say if they will actually work with non-Linksys kit.
Any experiences appreciated.

i need to keep my PC connected (by cable) to the internet, can i connect my AirPort Express to the port in the wall and then connect my pc the the Airport Express. eg.
(wall port (-cable-) [WAN)(LAN] (-cable-) ethernet port on my pc). Bold is the airport express itself.
Trying to get my ipad mini connected.
Because this is a work ethernet connection, i dont want to go poking around too much.
