RAM and graphics card problem?
Hi, I recently purchased an Macbook pro that has already been bootcamped with windows 7 ultimate. My issue is that the windows partition is only recognising 2 GB of my installed 8GB of RAM, the windows 7 operating system is only 32bit so I know I will only get a maximum of 4GB but why is it only reognising 2GB?
Another problem is that the windows side is using the incorrect graphics card, in this macbook there are the GT9600 and 9400 from nvidia, is there anyway to change which graphics card windows uses?
any help would be greatly appreciated!
Use the new RAM. The stuff from Amazon is nice and using all the same set IS best policy.
New on A1:2 and whatever else in B1:2
4 or 8 DIMMs is what you want to use. There is small higher latency using 6 or 8.

I know this is a stupid question but like a PC will the MBP run any PCI-Express Graphics Card even if made for a workstation? Will it fit? And can the MBP run like 4GB of Ram let's say if we were to use a PC chip? What are the size differences with Desktop and Notebook Ram? Does the firmware just not support anything else?
Fair enough, I stand corrected Guru Sahib - (unless it's not Apple software). I was only kidding - no offence meant.
As for ram, the Powermacs take Dimms not Sodimms and if I remember correctly they take DDR2 PC4200 wheras the MBP takes DDR2 PC 5300 SoDimms. If you take a look at www.macsales.com you can check the different memory for the various machines - the latest imacs also take sodimms.
With regard to the PCI - there are two issues, physical form factor - will not fit and then specs - I think it's a reasonable supposition that PCI express on the MBP will have similar throughput to the PCI express on the PowerMac, but to be sure I would advise you give NVidia a call - they will have more precise information than Apple could give you.
Given your requirements you could test 2 x 2gb Sodimms in the MBP - they are very expensive and officially Apple only support 2 x 1gb - but that may just be down to the lack of availability of 2gb sodimms.
You may want to consider whether an MBP is going to cut it coming from a G5 - especially when there is the option of going for a quad, and also it's not that long until Aug/Sept when some are expecting the intel replacement for the G5 - I'd imagine with the new 64 bit intel chip Conroe I think it's called.
I don't think you can physically put a workstation card on an MBP - with an adapter perhaps, but it may be that NVidia have a native solution which is why I would call them.
Anyway, if I think of any more I'll post back. In the meantime I'd suggest a post on the Final Cut forum about the PCI - I'd mention the card you're using and ask if there is an equivalent express card.

MS6156 and graphics card problems

i recently brought a 2nd hand comp to add as a P2P Network with my Pentium 4. The 2nd hand Comp i got currently has a MS=6156BX in it, and i was wondering if a 64mb GE-Force 2 MX200. However, when i plugged it in..it gave me one long beep, then two short beeps following. I'm not aware of the what the problem is,
is the graphics card stuffed?? is it compatible?? and if both are not stuffed, what settings must be changed to enable this computer to use this particular graphics card...

Jdownloader and graphic card problem
Whenever i open Jdownloader, graphic card changed to nvidia gt 650m. I have 15" retina macbook and my firmwares are all up-to-date. I have Jdownloader version. 2.

Graphic card problem maybe? Since when I have changed the hard drive to my macbook pro and I installed all the new softwares, my mac is very slow and the screen gives crazy pictures,could maybe be the graphic card, does anybody have experienced this?

I Notice that one of the users' in the Apple discussion Board is Listed, (AndyO) he has help me many times in the Past and was succesful in my problrm solution, would he might be able to help me with this?
I had Purchased the Game Spore Creature Creator the Starter Kit which is just the Creature creator game and not the actual game itself. I wasn't able to install the the game on my computer because I don't have the right or not at all Video and Graphic Card install on my computer. I had Contacted the Company "EA" that puts out the Game Spore, this is what they said what the game requirements are: The minimum system requirements for Spore and Spore the Galactic Edition for Mac are as follows:

The only modern Mac's with video cards are the Mac Pro and Xserve (server) systems. They both are priced quite a bit higher than any Mac Mini.
Some systems, like the Mac Book Pro laptop can be ordered with different graphics cards, but that has be done when the system is built, as it is not replaceable once the system is built. To find out which systems, go to store.apple.com. For each system that you select, you can see if there's an option for a better video card.

Hi I bought this laptop 2 years ago for gaming purposes and school work. I was told by the shop assistant that it can run most fo your big games such as Call Of Duty and FIFA. Well frankly i was lied to and this laptop struggles to even play the simplest game Minecraft a game about pixelated blocks that you destroy and place and this can't even run it I am very annoyed about this and seeing if i can upgrade the machine never crossed my mind until now. So i am asking to see if it would be possible to upgrade the Hardware of this machine mainly the processor and graphics card, here are the specs of my laptop:
Processor- AMD E2-1800 APU w/ Radeon HD graphics (2CPUs) (1.80)GHz
Graphics Card - AMD Radeon HD 7340G
RAM - 8Gb
Memory - 1Tb
Now I am wondering if this machine's processor and graphic's card can be upgraded and if so what would be the price of it and where would be the best place and if the cost is too much would i be better off buying a new machine?

Put this way if that system isn't costing you 2,000US or more then it will not play Call Of Duty and FIFA regardless of what the store sales person says. To play those games your laptop has to fall into the catgory called "Gaming Laptop" Specs and those come with cost and weight to show for it. Your laptop is only good at low games resolution and will not handle graphics intensive games. Those requires Gaming Laptop specs those cost money to be had. So if you still want to Game COD style you need to put down the cash for serious Game Laptop to perform under pressure. Forget about upgrading your current system what you want is a Serious Gaming Laptop if your going to play COD.

14 Jan 2013 - my client was experiencing display artifaces and the graphics card failed the Dell Diags video memory test. The graphic card replaced by Dell Tech.
13 Jun 2013 - my client was again experiencing display artifaces, running Dell Diags reported both hard drive and graphic video memory failed testing. I was concerned that the graphic card had failed again so quickly I worried there may be another defective part was causing the graphic card failure. I figured the most likely cause would be overheating and since the graphics card has an independent heatsink and cooling fan assembly I submitted Dell Warranty Request W03725377 requesting new hard drive, new graphics card, and new graphics card heatsink.
18 July 2013 - my client was again experiencing display problems. He reported:
The laptop has developed the same problem again. Soon as I switched it on over the weekend, the screen split into two and then it froze and then there were stripes on the screen. I shut it down and switched it on again, hoping this will work but the screen just remained black.
I booted into Dell Diags and shortly after starting the basic test when the test moved from solid blue to the GUI vertical yellow bars appeared. The yellow bars were visible throughout all testing except the LCD test and on the BIOS Screen. The LCD test didn't show the yellow vertical bars but it did show the repeating series of white dots that I have seen before with previous graphics card memory failures. I tried booting into Safe Mode and Safe Mode VGA 640 x 480. All attempts end with a black screen.
I can order and replace the graphics card under warranty but it seems obvious that something is causing the repeated graphic card failures and I want to fix the problem. I've been searching the forums and it seems other people have been experiencing related problems. I've quoted a thread I believe may be relevant

I've used the computer without problems for 1 1/2 years and 3 days ago I noticed the mouse pointer getting corrupted, then the screen flashed and went dark. I've tried system restore without success. When I remove all the ATI software, the computer works with the Generic VGA driver. I spent 2 days trying to reinstall the ATI drivers from both Dell and AMD with no success again. This has been very frustrating as it takes hours to do a system repair check, boot in Safe Mode and remove the ATI software.When the ATI driver/software bundle is installed the computer does not boot correctly and go to a black screen after the Windows boot up logo. As soon as I remove all the ATI drivers and software the computer boots again and works with the Generic VGA driver. I don't want to erase my hard drives (RAID 1) just to try to fix this. I will buy another laptop hard drive and try a clean Windows 7 Pro install. My guess is that either the graphic card is going bad or ATI drivers are not compatible with the latest Windows Update. Did you have any luck fixing your problem?

Issued me a refund check for my repair.
Seems to have some noticeable issues, fan running more than usual again, and temporary graphic lines,

HP Pavilion G4 1003-TX Graphic Card Problem
Hello... I have HP pavilion G4 1003TX laptop which cureently having graphic card problem. Technician at my place said that's caused by the solder connection on my Radeon graphic card. He said it can be repaired, but the same problem will happen again soon unless i replaced my graphic card with new one.
In my laptop, i have Radeon and Intel graphic card which i can switch freely. My question is, if i change from my Radeon to my Intel graphic card, is my graphic card problem solved? Is my laptop still will not last long unless i buy new graphic card?

He warn me that the same problem will happen again soon since it's sign that my VGA card will dead. After he resoldered, my laptop can work normally for 3 months. Now, after 3 months, my laptop can't start again just like before. The technician said it because of solder connection of my VGA card again.
So, since my laptop has Intel and Radeon VGA card that i can switch, is switching my VGA card form Radeon to Intel will solve my Radeon VGA card dead problem? Will my laptop can work normally if i switch my VGA card to Intel? -

If you are buying a new mac, Apple will do the migration for you, I would let them do it.
If you have an external monitor, I would try to do a data backup before doing anything.
Could also be your drive has already failed, or logic card. Again I would take it the Apple store, and have them deal with it since you bought a new Mac, they would do this for free, and the shoulder the responsibility.

What is maximum temperature for hard disk and graphics card?
After an hour of running mac, it gets so slow that after a while, i have no choice but to switch off with power key (pressed for 10 secs or so).
I downloaded temperature monitor gadget and I am noticing harddisk and graphics card temperature going high from 84 F to 130+ F

Apple does not provide this information. Though the hard drive details can be looked up at the manufacture website. Most consumer grade drives have a maximum operating temperature of 60C. Though heat can play into lifespan of the drive so I would not want the drive running anywhere near that for extended periods. My advice is to keep the hard drive under 50C.
What applications you are running? How much RAM do you have? and how much free space is left on your hard drive?

This weekend I’ll be taking my rig to a PC repair shop and ask them to swap out my PSU and my graphics card.
Because I’ve RMA’d all the components (see signature) several members of different forums, and the tech support of the various components, seem to think that my boot problem is because of a compatibility issue with either my Ultra X3 600W PSU or my XFX 8600 GT and my P35D3.
I need to be ready to make decision, without having time to research, if the repair tech recommends a replacement.
Here’s my considerations:
I selected the Ultra because it's both modular and 85% efficient (it also has the required 8-pin cable to power the P35D3's CPU and it has SATA power cables.
I selected the XFX 8600 GT card because it is dual-link (2 DVI outs -- Dell 30” & Viewsonic 19”) and it has no fan, and is DX10 ready. I’m not attached to the idea of no fan. I’m a speed freak but not a gamer or an over clocker--I like the option of trying out games.
Both the Ultra and the XFX are somewhat medium priced.
If the repair tech discovers that other PSUs or graphic cards work then I might be able to get Ultra or XFX to accept a return. Neither company accepted my offer to pay extra to exchange mine for another better model.
Suggestions please.
