Ram issues with DV7-3190eo

I have problems with ram on my dv7-3190eo, wanted to upgrade and bought 8 gb (2 x 4gb) PC3-10600, CL9, 204pin SODIMM,1333 Mhz, ram blocks from Kingston. But they make the laptop stalling and show error at startup. Have tried with 1 ram block only to with same error! (running win 7 ultimate)
The ones in my machine now is 4 gb (2 x 2gb) PC3-10700, CL7, 204pin SODIMM, 1066 Mhz, ram blocks from Jmicron.
What i wonder is, do i have to to go down to the PC3-8500 ram to match the CL7 and Mhz?

  • Ram Issues with a Hp Pavilion a6357c or maybe the amd athlon 64 5000+

I am really not sure if I am in the area-of a post like this. Please excuse my grammar and spelling"will try and use spell check"...
I got this computer from a friend of mine.Total nightmare. Was told all it needs is a hard drive and maybe a video card..Boy was that not the issue. I first got it and plugged it-make sure it would boot to bios..Nothing computer turned on-fans and all..Nothing on the screen. To make a long story short...I found an old ps2 mouse..The mouse was defective...with that mouse plugged in-computer wouldn't even boot to bios..Fixed that issue. Got into bios and all was good. Next step..Video card-Bought a new pny 9500 GT and a TTGI 550 power supply....swaped it all out and it works great...Than found a hard drive SATA 2...everthing installed and ready to place an operating system on....
Windows 7 64 bit--Installed great...But when it came up to the start up---Freeze--blue screen...Ok thought maybe it was the ram.....ended up taking all the old ram out and replace it with some DDR2 6300--or what ever the max was...total of 6 gb...still issue...freezing--decided to boot into safe mode---all good and ran great....checked Ram-stress test-checked every little hardware--stress test-no issues...Booted back up out of safe mode... Same issues....ok--lets just try Windows 7 32 bit.....
Windows 7 32 bit.....Install went great-no issues....updated and all the sp's...but underload----bluescreen....played and played with it...but the blue screen were all over the place...back into safe mode and checked all the drivers--and devices....Ok lets just go back to what the system had----windows Vista....
Again----everything boot and installed perfect...This time was a liitle more stable...updates--all the sp's all the drivers.....
Blue screen underload......Ok maybe my ram is at fault.......
It ended up stable and working perfect---single channel mode-2 gb in the first slot....I tried every way to put the ram in.....
found out--ok---only stable in single channel mode...anytime I added ram--for dual channel...Fail under load....Put the 2 gb stick or a 1 gb stick any any of the other slots-by itself---perfect stable and running great...I was even able to add another 1 gb stick with the 2 gb stick---but it had to be in single channel....tried to add more in single channel and fail....3 is it and it is not all the way stable--but stable enough to run...2 gb stick by itself---perfect.........
Did some digging---maybe it is the memory controller...But can not find any post with this issue---I keep finding people asking the quesion--and there storys match...But no answers and it seems that the just get a walk around.....
I have narrowed it down..It has to me the intergrated memory controller on the chip....so i think...I could just purchase a new one and swap it out........But here is the issue...........
Safe Mode will take all the ram-dual channel---single channel..anyway.......But so will linix-----Only has this issue with Windows....
The other werid item too---My had drive say scis drive or something along that lines--Not sata.....and again-I can not find a post to explain why......
Please understand----Stress test on Ram-cpu-motherboard--videocard----everthing--is perfect no issues...PSU is perfect---checked it out in another sytem---no issues....I am at my witts end with this thing and I have got nowhere......
It is working great with just a 2 gb stick of ram---very fast and very responsive....But adding extra ram really bothers me...Not because--it make a differance-Just because I don't know...
Can somebody out there school me.....I have tried everything........

Sorry all-But i never got a reply to this situation. But I am done. I ended up running threw tons of post and tons of threads. I can tell you that when people ask a question. There is always some smart A--, telling them something that has nothing to do with the current situation. I guess alot of people out there think they know everything- and have nothing to do-but mess with the people like me when they are stumped. Anyways...I ended up running a computer check in or after bios...I think they call it burned in-HP....what ever-the last straw when you can not figure it out..Ran it with one stick---than with all the sticks..Everytime--it claimed that there was nothing wrong..But when I tried to restart it--boom blue screen..with the mulyi sticks of ram. So when I couldn't find an solution online...I stoped using the words HP a6357c.. and just typed the issue..Funny thing the issue kept poping up--and with the same motherboard or processor...and again-nobody ever came up with a solution..Most of the post claimed the issue was the power supply....ot the ram timming..But I know better..Not to mention people kept saying-buy the tool from ebay to check wattage usuage.....Bam----wattage...Did a simple check with harware monitor...my 3.5 or 3.3 rail was running at 1.78....enought to power one stick of ram---not 2...or barley enough to power a 1 gb stick and a 2 gb stick in single channel mode...Again-people were blaming--PSU"not my case".Ram Timming.."not my case".........Then I found a person with the same make and model.....Look for fat or bad capasitors...Never thought of that.....Guess what------That is what I found....No body but a thread-one thread has explained...If you have this same issue-Look at the capasitors...Maybe this is a defective motherboard--you can not find it on the site anyway-no specs nada..like it was a mistake..So if you have one just like this- I have a feeling-you will run into this issue-in one way or another..I just don't understand why both companys have no fix--or no--recall info..No answers to problems on these....now I have a big black paper weight.....sorry for my spelling and grammer-just so mad..the net was no help on this

  • The infamous RAM issue with bootcamp

Sp, I have seen a lot of threads about RAM issues when using bootcamp.
I'm about to install Windows XP SP 3 using bootcamp - how much RAM will be utilized when using my windows partition?
I have a MBP 2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3 GB RAM and Radeon X 1600 256 mb RAM.
    Looking forward to your responses.
    Thanks

This is not so much an issue with Bootcamp as it is an issue with Windows. On any machine, Mac or PC, Windows will only recognize approximately 3GB of RAM. The only Windows Operating Systems that are capable of going higher are the 64-bit OS choices. So, if and when you upgrade your MacBook Pro to 4GB of RAM, Windows will still only see 3GB. Just a heads-up.

from day 1 i had problem - unexpected restarts...... my pc store exchanged mother board twice, gpu 2 times and 1 time ram..... nothing helped i only lost 2 weeks! But pc started working fine only after in bios we changed the ram MHz from 1333 to 800mhz! after that system was stable no restarts
could some one plz tell me what is the problem and how to avoid it?

but for some reasons i cant use 1066
that is simple to explain 1066 would work with 3 sticks of ram installed but you have 6 so the max is 800mhz as you have 2x3 channel memory installed and the cpu cant handle that much at full speed!
its all down to the CPU's (Central Processing Unit's) memory controler Quote from: anat_usa on 10-July-12, 18:09:15

    seems like should be ok.....
not the point wattage ratings are meaningless its all down to how that is sub-devided on its rails as ampages i have a 1000W psu here that can't boot a single 24A graphics card as it has 4 x 20A +12v rails and is only usefull as a paper weight!
what are the ampages of its +12V rail or rails? there the important data points to pay attention to! WATTAGE OF A PSU REALLY MEANS NOTTHING ITS ALL ABOUT AMPAGE IT CAN DELIVER ON THE RAILS!!!!!! minimum Wattage psu calculations are done based on a single high ampage +12v rail and if yours has 2-3 +12v rails its no better then a 300W psu at best!
that HD 4890 you have requires this:
    18A idle power draw = 216W
    28A under load = 336W
that is very power hungery at idle probaly neer the max your psu can put out on a +12v rail!

  • Ram issues with FCPX

I am experiencing an issue where the longer I work in FCPX my RAM is consumed until it shows as a hair-thin slice inside of Activity Monitor, and the performance reflects what I'm seeing in Activity Monitor.  If I close FCPX all my RAM returns and I can re-open FCPX and continue working quickly until I am out of RAM again.  Does anyone else see this?  Is this a "memory leak"?
I haven't tested this issue on my system at home, but it's happening on my older #GHz Dual Quad eight core.

Luis, I'm not sure how much RAM your MBP can accept (and actually use) - OWC often suggests that many laptops can accept more than Apple says, however consider this:  The issue I am seeing simply means that if you have more RAM, it just means you will be able to go longer before all of your RAM is tied up, "consumed", than somebody with less RAM.  The issue remains that the programm is not releasing RAM and the longer you edit, the more RAM is off-line until you close FCPX and re-open it, and then all of your RAM will be released and available again.
I think it is wise to have as much RAM as your software and hardware can use, but having more than that is really not going to benefit your workflow, and it's expensive to have more than you need.  But, again, this doesn't change the issue I am seeing.
The only other thing I'd like to say is that so far I've used FCP since it came out - after Apple bought it from Macromedia.  I love the application and have finished countless projects in it.  I think FCPX is great in that I've never seen all eight cores tapped as heavily as FCPX can being a 64 bit app.  There are some opportunities to improve it of course, but it's fast and fast seems to be the biggest aspect of a lot of work I do for VailResorts.
So I'm not against X but I just need to know what is going on with my RAM because after editing for an hour, (I edit all day long) I am not only out of RAM but I begin to get a spinning beachball more often and likely it's due to the missing RAM.  If I forget to reboot FCPX, I will be reminded when I go to "Share" (export) my storyline, (sequence) to H.264 - it takes a long time to begin and it's likely due to the missing RAM.  So for me this is a big issue.

  • Ram issues with my hp pavilion p7-1459(joshua-H61-uATX mobo)

I traded my buddy my original 2 sticks of ram that came with the computer (2x 4gb sticks) not sure what the specs on them were, but that is easy enough to find out. Anyways, my buddy gave me his 1 stick of 8gb gskill ripjaws x ram (ddr3-1333 pc3-10666). when i put in the gskill ram my computer refuses to boot, although my motherboard says that it takes ddr3-1333. so i am very confused. Additionally my room mate gave me a stick of 4 gb ram out of another hp prebuilt and that stick alone will run my system. ive tried consulting google about this with no avail, im hoping someone from here can help me out, thanks..

  • RAM issues with MacBook & Snow Leopard

Hey everybody. My mom bought Snow Leopard the other day and just went to install now, but her MacBook told her she needed more RAM. Is there any way we could clear some space up or something and not have to get a physical upgrade? Thanks.

RAM is the physical memory installed in the computer, not the space on the hard drive. Apparently the computer does not meet the minimum system requirements:
    Snow Leopard General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
You will have to upgrade the computer's RAM. I recommend not less than 2 GBs for Snow Leopard.

  • Ram Issues with leopard

    Hello,
I am a very happy owner of an 3.06 gh imac and love it .
I upgraded the ram to 4Gb.
imac accepted it and it works well.
But ram fills up so quickly , amazing.
Like when i imported pictures it used all 4 gb of ram while importing.
Also it uses ram for apps and then when i quite the app the ram usage in the activity monitor doesnt go back as it was before like somehow still shows used.
Is there any program to check if my installed ram is well used?
It seems yes but then why is so quickly used?
and why it doesnt show availble as before using app , when i quit app?
If i dont upgrade to 4 gb , would it mean that my system wouldnt run?
As now the machine allways uses more then 2 whenever i open a few apps.
Before the upgrade for the same apps it used less then 2...
Also windows xp under vm fusion .. when i use it again the ram is over 2 gb .. would it mean the without 4 gb of ram i wouldnt be able to use fusion?
    I dont understand..
Thank you a lot for helping me on that, and also with a program to test it.
    Regards

You should not worry about free memory unless your system is spending a lot of time doing pageout I/O.
Any operating system that maintains a lot of free memory is *wasting your money*. The operating system should maximize the use of memory so that you get the best performance for your money.
Mac OS X will use memory for a file system buffer cache. It will keep previously executed program code in memory just in case you quickly re-run that program, so it does not need to read it back from disk.
Many programs, especially programs that process graphic images will consume large amounts of memory. That memory may remain as file system buffer cache.
All cached memory or is available, the same as free memory, anytime the operating system need it for something else.
If you are concerned that your performance is suffering, you can run the following utility from an Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal session:
    sar -g 60 100
This will report the pageout operation every minute for 100 minutes. If you have mostly zeros then you enough memory. If you see sustained pageout numbers over an extended period of time, especially if you have high numbers, then you would benefit from more memory, or running fewer high memory demanding programs at the same time.
Remember if you always have lots of free memory, then your OS is wasting your money

  • RAM issues with 10.4.8?!?!?

Upgrading from 10.4.7 have fixed many of my problems. Certain apps take up more cpu power and ram i assume. It will freeze almost within 10 minutes of use. If i dont manually restart by holding the power button down. Within 2-5 minutes the black screen with 4 languages stating power down comes up.
But I did something interesting, I swapped my 2 1GB cards with each other, and now it only registers 1.5 GB instead of saying 2GB. And it has fixed all the problems.
My question is why would tiger not register 50% of one of the ram chips. Here is my scenario based on my experiences.
    BEFORE TIGER:
    Slot 1 Chip A(1GB)
    Slot 2 Chip B(1GB)
Computer states 2 GB DDR SDRAM
    AFTER TIGER
    Slot 1 Chip A(1GB)
    Slot 2 Chip B(1GB)(only registering as 512)
Computer states 1.5 GB DDR SDRAM
AFTER TIGER UPDATE TO 10.4.8 and all is wrong! *Notice chips are swapped below* Now my computer shows 2GB. But I have a slew of problems, freezes, hangs, black kernal panic screen
    Slot 1 Chip B(1GB)
    Slot 2 Chip A(1GB)
Computer states 2 GB DDR SDRAM
AFTER TIGER UPDATE TO 10.4.8 and all is fixed
    Slot 1 Chip A(1GB)
    Slot 2 Chip B(1GB)(only registering as 512)
Computer states 1.5 GB DDR SDRAM
The 2 ram chips I purchased was from MAC Mall, and it is Axiom AXA-PBG4333/1G 1GB PC2700 DDR SO DIMM for APPLE POWERBOOK G4 15in & 17in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again

    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hello Brian.
Since you have experienced kernel panics, sounds like you have a RAM problem since incompatible, defective or failing RAM are the most common causes of kernel panics.
If you are experiencing many problems, it is generally recommended to resolve the problems before installing a major OS Update such as 10.4.8 since not doing so will usually not resolve the problems and sometimes make matters worse.
Unless you are experiencing a problem that an OS update addresses specifically, you should resolve existing problems before doing anything else.
Unless your RAM was not seated properly, I would focus on the RAM chips. Assuming you have the original RAM chip that shipped with your Mac, the best method for testing RAM is via a process of elimination. If the same problems do not occur when using the original RAM chip that shipped with your Mac when purchases, you need to return the RAM for exchange or credit if possible.
Check this link for information on the causes of kernel panics and a roadmap of troubleshooting steps to take in the order provided to resolve focusing on the hardware test and RAM testing.

  • RAM issues with K7N420

I bought two extra sticks of 256 MB DDR 2100 RAM and I've installed them into slots 2 and 3 (along with the original 256 I had in slot 1) and the system doesn't recognise that they are there.
I read the manual and it shows in the appendix the configuration for 768 MB as 512, 256, 0 MB for the slots.  I've got 256,256,256.  I don't see why that's a problem.  Anyway, I pulled the one stick out of slot 3 and it didn't make a difference.
The manual also says not to put dual load or dual bank memory in slot 3.  What's the difference between single load and dual load memory?
Any reason the computer isn't reporting the extra memory?
Also is it normal for the computer to cycle through the memory test 3 times?

    macoombi,
You can improve your system performance by using two matched sticks of RAM.  Use either Dimm Slots 1 & 2 or 1 & 3 to get Twinbank going.
512Mb of RAM is more than enough RAM for 99.9% of the users out there.  Adding more RAM slows the system down and does little more than give bragging rights. (Unless you use huge programs for Music or Video Editing.)
    Good Luck,
    Richard

  • Anyone having RAM issues with Notes.app on Mountain Lion?

I have installed ML a couple different times. All is well except for Notes. Once Notes is running and after it has synced therough iCloud there is a process that continues to run named "com.apple.NotesMigratorService" and it gobbles up RAM until there is no space left on the drive. The last time I watched in Activit Monitor and killed it but within a few minutes it would start up again. Currently, after running Notes, killing the process twice then quitting Notes, and now some 20 minutes later, I have ...
    183,217 Page Ins
    4,380,504 Page Outs
Last time all the drive got eaten I had ...
    687,422 Page Ins
    15,363,792 Page Outs
    MacBook Pro (early 2011)
    2.2 GHz i7
    8 GB RAM
    256 GB SSD

This issue is a big problem on my Mac, I can only imagine that it's affecting many more people than the few who've posted in this forum. 'timothylance' has indicated that Apple has contacted him and they're running diagnostics/addressing the issue. I certainly hope so.
This problem is affecting my early 2009/dual quad-core Mac Pro. I had two notes on my iPhone before I installed Mountain Lion. The notes were sync'd to my Mac, two MacBook Pros, and my iPad. I installed ML on my two MacBook Pros, and didn't notice any problems.
When I finally installed ML on my Mac Pro, I noticed a lot of hard drive activity. Applications were locking up left and right (I was running out of RAM). Eventually I had to kill a bunch of applications, and the hard drive activity was still high. I restarted the computer and had the same problems. Eventually, a window pops up stating that you've run out of 'disk space'. I checked the Activity monitor and saw that the 'com.apple.NotesMigratorService' had eaten up all my available Real (RAM) and Virtual Memory (Hard disk space availabe to use as Virtual RAM/swap space).
You can use the 'Activity Monitor' application to locate and Force Kill (quiting doesn't seem to work/help) the 'com.apple.NotesMigratorService'. This should immediately frees up the Real and Virtual memory being eaten up by this process. A Force Kill also stops the process from restarting, until you launch/restart one of the applications which triggers the activation of this 'com.apple.NotesMigratorService' process.
So far (in my experience), it seems that the following actions trigger the activation of the 'com.apple.NotesMigratorService'
    - Launching the Notes application.
    - Launching the System Preferences application and accessing the iCloud preference. (Note: My Notes preference in the iCloud pane is checked/synched, but I can't get Mail checked/synched via iCloud. This may be unrelated/a different problem.)
    - Launching the System Preferences application and accessing the Mail, Contacts & Calendars preference.
(FYI - In Safari 6.0 the bulleted list view doesn't display properly. The paragraph above was drafted/originally posted as a bulleted list, but appears without any indentation or list bullets when viewed in Safari 6.0. I edited it to add hyphens and hard breaks to simulate a list view.)
Hopefully Apple will patch this soon. I find it extremely annoying that I have to continuously monitor my 'Activity Monitor' to watch for this process. If I find additional triggers for the process, I'll reply to my entry here.

  • Has anyone had issues with the accelerometer in the iPhone 6 plus?

II've had issues with the accelerometer in the iPhone 6 plus. I went from landscape mode and then went into podcast app. I went to the search tab and this is the keyboard that came up:
This isn't the only issue with the accelerometer though. I've also come out of clash of clans which is a landscape only mode game. I go to my home screen and my wallpaper is in landscape still but my apps are in portrait? The seems to be some RAM issues with the iPhone 6 plus but I'm not sure if that has any issue with the transition from landscape to portrait.

        Belynda227,
That's definitely odd, we certainly need to get to the bottom of this so you can use it safely while driving. Have you been able to use it in the past without completing the factory reset? The factory reset deleted everything from your phone, is that the type of reset you're doing? If so, you need to pair your phone every time, which explains the problem. Is your car compatible with the phone? Some cars are not compatible, in this case some features work but not all. Use http://vz.to/11fpca7 to review compatibility.

  • [Solved] Suspend to RAM problems with HP dv7 laptop

    Hello,
I have an HP dv7-6000 notebook that I can't get suspend to RAM working on. When I tell Linux to suspend, the screen turns off, I hear the hard disk turn off, but all the lights stay on (power, wireless, and touchpad). After a couple minutes the BIOS kicks in and runs the fans at maximum speed. The only way to get out of this situation is to hold down the power button for a hard shutdown.
It's almost as if the suspend was successful, but "incomplete," because the system for whatever reason is stuck powered on.
I have updated the BIOS and there is no difference. I have also tried different acpi_os_name values based on my DSDT table ("Windows 2001," "Windows 2009," etc.).
Both pm-utils log files (pm-powersave.log and pm-suspend.log) are blank. I have also tried uswsusp, and the same thing happens. I have not tried hibernate yet because I don't have a swap partition.

+1, I'm having the same issue with both "pm-suspend" and "sytemctl suspend", not always but happening 1 out of 5 times maybe, this started happening since the 3.10* upgrade, currently running 3.10.5-1 on my modest compaq.

  • AMD GPU Issue with HP DV7-6111TX Notebook

*Before I start, this is the repost as I posted the other one on the wrong day and in the wrong place. I couldn't find how to delete that so I just asked to have it deleted. This is the proper post. Thanks.*
Hi. I have a major issue with my laptop which I recently posted on another site. Couldn't get any help there and I thought I might as well ask here seeing as it's expert day and all. Here is the post I put on that site which I won't retype for the sake of convenience:
"Hi. Recently I totally screwed up my laptop. Basically, it was working perfectly fine, except for Minecraft. I'm on an AMD card so alot of people were having the "Display Driver has Stopped Responding and has Recovered" or whatever, and I was one of them. This only happened for this specific game, but everything else was great.
My laptop is an HP Pavilion DV7 with a 6770M + Intel integrated graphics with a switchable mode between the two.
Continuing, I read on the MC forums that since these specific combinations require drivers from the manufacturer, they barely get updated, and my particular case had been abandoned. I checked this support site with live chat and it seems that I actually can't update my drivers any further and so I'll never be able to play Minecraft. However, on that same forum, I saw a link to this site called "Leshcat's Lab" or something. This site made drivers specifically for my situation and seemed like the perfect solution as, although unofficial, the drivers were updated and worked. So I got the latest one and hoped for the best, following all instructions properly.
It worked fine and I even got Minecraft working, however, I then went to play Far Cry 3 and that's when I realised – my laptop took a total turn for the worse. Where before I could play the game at High graphics smoothly, I could no longer even run the game at a playable framerate using the lowest possible graphics settings and the lowest possible resolution. I thought it was only with this so I launched my other games too – all the same. I could no longer play anything as games no longer really worked anymore.
So I quickly formatted my laptop hoping it would all be better but it seems I've done permanent damage because the exact same thing is still happening. Everything else works fine, all my software and the actual laptop itself, but the second I open any game at all, even Minecraft now, it's basically unusable.
My CPU is an i7 with 2GHZ x 4 cores and I have 8GB of RAM. Everything is up to date and my graphics are set to fixed mode on the AMD card. Needless to say, I've tried everything – I already had Advanced System Care so I made that clean my laptop and I tried it's turbo boost feautre, I reinstalled everything, I even formatted my laptop, and nothing.
I know it was a really long post but I figured the more information I can put in the better. Thanks for anyone who's read this and I hope someone can help me with this as it's getting ridiculous. If you need any other details, let me know and I'll let you know."
Also, here are the things you asked for in the "Note Before Posting" section:
    1. HP Pavilion DV7-6111TX
    2. Windows 7 64-bit
    3. N/A
    4. Stated in Post
So that's it. Thanks and I hope you guys can finally solve my problem.

  • Issues with performance and RAM previews

Just did a major system upgrade from an iMac to a Mac Pro, and now I'm having an issue with performance...specifically with RAM previews.
When I try to do a RAM preview with audio, it grinds my entire OS to a hault (can't switch apps, or click on much of anything). It eventually clears up enough for me to stop the RAM preview.
So, I'm wondering if maybe my Memory & Multiprocessing settings might be off.
    Here are my system specs:
    Mac Pro
    2 x 2.4GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon (12 cores)
    64GB RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 5870
    AE CS6 (11.0.2.11)
AE is installed on an SSD drive and the scratch disk is an internal HDD.
Here are my AE Memory Settings:
    Here's my GPU Info:
Let me know if any other info is needed...

You are reserving far too little RAM for other software.
See this: "Performance tip: Don't starve your software of RAM."
(Also, I recommend going through all of these materials: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/543440 )
Regarding the SSD: Putting your application files on it means that applications load/boot faster. This is fine, but that benefit is just when you first start the application. If you put your cache files on it, then you get the benefit every time that something is read from or written to the cache---i.e., many times per second, for the entire time that you're working. Put your cache files on your SSD. BTW, there's no reason to not put your application files and caches on the same SSD. The reason that you split things across multiple disks is to prevent simultaneous reads and writes to and from a slow disk; the program loading from disk happens at a different time than reading and writing cache files, so there is no potential for conflict and slowdown.
